>> so by now your suspicions were ratcheted up quite a bit? >> yes >> were you worried about your own safety >> in parts the investigatio that was worry about her safety we're dealing with someone who is violent enough to plant a bomb >> but was that person pau moore. he had a criminal history to b sure, but was he a killer? there were certain things abou paul's past detective salm was unable to share with us fo reasons -- what we discovered a saga of smart expensive lawyerin dealing with misdeeds that g way beyond tapping and ex-wife's telephone. in 1997, paul was arrested after an incident in san francisco one night. ugly accusation, rape, false i prison, assault with a deadl weapon, trying to run hi alleged victim over with thi pick up truck. charges that could put paul in prison for a decade or more.

instead paul spent three years driving back and forth between his place here in colusa and san francisco engage in cour maneuvers, the result? paul simply got probation, after pleading no contest to assault with intent to commi rape, but, denying blame for the offense, the other charges were dropped but, the conviction put paul o california's sex offenders lists, searchable by county of fear that someone in colusa wa bound to found his secret, pau went into exile, near sant cruz however, as part of th original plea deal, paul's intent to commit rap conviction was dropped, vacate in 2007. seven years later. in exchange, paul pleaded no contest to the assault with deadly weapon charge which meant, paul was no longe a registered sex offender, and the prodigal son was welcome home that part of his past, i
