he would have signed those, as well i think when it comes to issue around immigration and in ou criminal legal system, we have a long ways to go. >> what political advice would you give to him? and when he's running he has t build a coalition and appeal t a huge population that you ver much appeal to what advice would you give t him? >> i think that we are in really important moment wher the landscape of america politics is shifting and the communities that hav historically been the center o the political universe, suburb and certain affluent communities, are still ver important and a part of th political constellation it i this country young people are entering an

engaging in a way that has become a large political force it's a political force that is often underestimated but not underestimated by th republican party they're already discussing how to engage and disenfranchise young people in addition to th disenfranchisement they impose on communities of power. my advice would be that whil this balancing act is difficult, it's not something to be taken for granted. and we should fight for th priorities of young people in multi class, multi racia coalition. since the supreme cour overturned roe, republican state legislators -- the drug mifepristone has also become challenged.

opponents of abortion are stil at it, very much how bad do you think this coul get? >> i think we are in a extremely serious moment i believe that the republica party is not starting at roe they will not start at roe they will not stop at women' rights i believe what we are seeing i a concerted rollback of civi liberties in general our right to privacy, our righ to bodily autonomy all right to marry whomever we wish to marry. all of this is at risk i don't think they will stop and many of the folks, there are so many people when we wer warning that roe was truly a risk all progressive hysterical this we are overestimating the risk, this is never going to happen and just as we warned about roe, we are warning about the ver real risks we're already seeing the attacks on trans americans, fo

seeing the attacks on lgbt americans. we have even seen republican members of the senate insinuat that interracial marriage is something that should be up fo debate these are our civil rights and our civil liberties, and w have to resist we must resist these attempt to rollback the basic huma rights of certain communitie in america based on identity >> this week, fox news settl their defamation lawsuit was dominion voting systems for 78 point $7 million do you think they made mistake requiring fox acknowledge hono that lie to its viewers? >> this was a corporation suin another corporation fo material damages their job is to go in and ge the most money that they can and i think that they did that

they are not lawyers for the american public. and i think what is best for the country, what would have been best for the country wh would have been to demand that and not settle until we go that but that is not their role for us, i think this raise much larger questions. very often, i believe that w leave it to the courts to solv issues the politics ar supposed to solve. that legislating exposed t solve. we have very real issues wit what is permissible on air we saw that with january 6th and we saw that in the lead up to january 6th and how we navigate question not just a freedom of speech but also accountability fo incitement of violence this is the role we have t explore as well.

political capital on >> i think up until now, u until very recently, it's been very difficult to generate political momentum aroun addressing climate change. especially on the scale that w need to be addressing it on. there are so many issues tha are critically important, an we're very lucky to have ver strong political coalitions. but i know that when i was running, this was somethin that was just beginning to emerge that same kind of politica force and saliency aroun addressing the climate crisis. so now, it continues to be a important priority, not just for me but for many policy makers because we also have to handle this in a way that addresses the injustices that workin class people in communities of color facing the climate crisi as well. >> you just introduced a green new deal when you talk about bi expensive programs, that's where you sometimes heat
