of challenge what i've also said, repeatedly, is that it's one thing t critique young people, reveren al it's another thing when yo demonize them. and there is a difference. as i said before, because i am serious about making sure that our communities are safe we have to do what's saf american cities do that is invest in people i've spoken repeatedly about youth employment, not just for some positions but year-roun positions. there's a direct correlation between youth employment and violence reduction we also have to invest i recreation, and activities tha have to be made availabl within the neighborhoods of th city of chicago. we have beautiful neighborhood have been disinvested in ove the course of a generation that is the task that we all have together, to make sur that we are bringing structure and calmness to the city o chicago. while also addressing the root

campaign how else do you put a workin with the chicago police to putin true public safety now the campaign is over >> again, it does require balanced approach. and one of the things that i believe is critically importan for our officers to make sur that they know what thei assignment is every single day too often, policing has no demonstrated a consistency i supervision. and what tends to happen i that a police officer shows up to work, and there's a different supervisor and unfortunately, there is lot of challenges that com with that. we also have to make sure that law enforcement is not only -- law enforcement should not b asked to do their job an someone else's and this is what i have called for repeatedly

to make sure that we have firs responders that can address th 9-1-1 calls that are overwhelmingly mental health crises back in march, the los angeles police department released a article outlining in detail th policies that i have bee promoting. not just as a teacher an organizer, but as a candidat for mayor. many of our police officer could certainly benefit from mental health support, as well they are experiencing trauma and an unprecedented rate. and the individuals that the are responding and reacting to our also experiencing trauma so we need more mental healt crisis workers to do that. and to the last point, we have to solve crime in the city o chicago. the clearance rate is abysmal. we have, in certain communities, we are looking at 15 to 20% of crimes that are actually being solved so i have committed to trainin and promoting 200 more
