soon. plus, the republican accusations and the bribery design to take down president biden. the only problem, there's no actual evidence. in vaccine expert dr. peter hotez is being attacked by joe rogan and elon musk for refusing to debate the dangerous anti vaxxer rfk jr.. he joins me live to set the record straight on the science it'll explain why the debate on vaccines could only spread more lies. >> one story has dominated the

>> >> a team of sheriff from nearby georgia. you may be asking yourself what kind of business to sheriffs from georgia and florida. according to pat lowball they were scooping it out. the boss told local local atlanta-based -- quote, they are there today just as they were in new york in opportunity for us to learn and make sure we are equally prepared. equally prepared for what? their presence offers a timely reminder that while trump is now faced two indictments a third appears just on the horizon. back in may, fulton county district attorney fani willis who is investigating efforts by trump and his allies to overturn the 2020 election in

georgia signaled it charges there could come as soon as august. over recently that timeline has come into question. new york attorney general with isha james is also investigating the former president, hard to keep up i know. had this to say about the possible impact of trump's federal indictment on the state led cases. >> in all likelihood i believe that my case as well as d a bragg and the georgia case will unfortunately have to be adjourned pending the outcome of the federal case. so it all depends upon the scheduling of this particular case. >> but hold on, willis's office quickly shut down that suggestion offering the statement quote, the federal indictments will not have any impact on the fulton county investigation. so with an august indictment still on the table let's take a step back and remember how this case for started.

with that perfect phone call between then president donald trump and georgia's top official secretary brad raffensperger. >> so all i want to do is this, i just want to find 11,780 votes which is one more than we have. >> which is what more than we have. to be clear trump lost to biden by 11,779 votes. anyone at the top election official that state to find him in amount of votes that's one vote more. he's on tape saying, you just heard it. and it's because of that taped phone call over the last two years many legal experts have said time and time again, it is georgia that presents the greatest legal danger to the ex president. but willis's investigation goes much further than just one phone call. her probe also reportedly includes the trump campaign's attempt to create a slate of fake electors who were then

fraudulently tell congress that the states electoral votes were cast for trump when they were cast for biden. in just the last few weeks we've also in the investigation was broadened to include activities in other states which many legal experts view as a sign that prosecutors maybe building a sprawling case under george's racketeering laws. according to those experts by using george's waco statute which is one of the most expansive in the nation we must can build a sweeping narrative of an alleged pattern of behavior to overturn the 2020 election. back in february we got our first real look at some of the substance of the d. a.'s case when a judge ordered select pages from a special grand jury report to be released. the specifics of that reporting include recommendations for possible indictments still remain sealed according to the jury's fourth person we should be bracing for a slew of charges.

storage issue. so what will the cold defense be in georgia? trump's conversation with raffensperger was merely, i don't know, a prank call gone awry. look, jokes aside, stark aside, in just a matter of weeks fani willis could soon find or self in a position very few have been in before. going toe to toe with an ex president in a court of law. over criminal charges. according to reporters inside that miami courtroom throughout the entirety of tuesday's arraignment special counsel jack smith never once broke his stare at donald trump. and i think we can izium j. a. willis is as equally determined, relentless and tough, as special counsel smith. in fact i'm reminded of these words that willis apparently had painted on the wall for office as a mission statement of sorts. quote, i'm for truth, no matter who tells us. i'm for justice, no matter who it is for or against. a line from malcolm x. and that is exactly the attitude you need when you are

investigating a former president of the united states. let's discuss with someone who knows dearly. former district attorney for the cobb county right next door to fulton county. she's also a co-owner of the brookings institute -- also with us dean overdub a host of the dean over the show on sirius xm. and molly john -- thank you all for coming on the show tonight when we start with you. do you still believe we should expect indictment in this case in august? and what do you make of those recent reports the d. a. willis has expanded her investigation of georgia's racketeering laws. because some people including former u.s. attorney henry litman have expressed concern the case could risk becoming a, quote sprawling mess. . but >> first of all i do believe we are still on for an august timeline. i think the sheriff's actions in terms of sending members of his team to be able to prepare for the security of the courthouse and the witnesses and all of the folks involved is the symbol of that. in terms of where this particular case may go, a rico

case is really a prosecutor's greatest gift. because it allows the prosecutor to be able to tell the entire story of what happens. and it's very useful when you have multiple defendants with multiple actions. so i'm not surprised that the d. a. is taking her time and getting all four witnesses and even including acts or things that may have happened in other states. the georgia rico statute allows her to do that in order to present the full story to the jury. >> wow, very interesting. dean, if you or i have been caught on tape insisting to an election official that they find extra votes for us, would have taken over two years for charges to be brought? what do you make of the pace of dea willis's investigation. i know you've been critical of the pace of the federal investigations into donald

trump. >> first of all many, that was a perfect phone call, so why are you upset at all but they haven't prosecuted him yet. i think it's, trump calls it a perfect phone call. who scores their phone call who hangs up and goes that wasn't a. only donald trump. and his supporters repeat that. the fulton county d. a.'s office, about 150 employees in total. the doj has 1015 employees literally in fulton. my concern has always been the doj and merrick garland did not wanna prosecute donald trump. jack smith got appointed just seven months ago. lucas swiftly he moved. he is the john wick of prosecutors. he stared down trump the entire time in court. the fulton county d. a. has a job to do with county and state crimes there. the doj should move more

swiftly. i look forward to the prosecution in atlanta in fulton county by the d. a.. >> he's the john wick of prosecutors. dean, i've watched john wick for, i want to give away the ending i'm hoping that's not a parallel with jack smith. molly with talk about the coal of trump defenders. his behavior in the classified documents probe, he's so outrageous even his fierce defending of his employee ex a. g. bill barr -- have a watch. >> the legal theory by which he gets the take battle plans and sensitive national security information as his personal papers is absurd. >> that was white right-wing republican bill barr today. but trump's trail of maga lackeys in congress don't seem to be going anywhere. what kind of excuses do you think they will make a fani willis filed charges in georgia? because we saw the bragg thing, it's complicated, it's not a real thing. florida, that's not -- how many times can they do that? every time he gets indicted? >> well it's amazing.

and i would say bill barr is on this rehabilitation tour. so he'll say anything anywhere, he sort of trying to tack to the center. because he knows he went too far. so i wouldn't take that bill barr says, i would take it with a grain of salt. but i do think and you see this hugh hewitt, but after this charge came out and you had really smart lawyers prosecutors saying this is devastating anyone else would end up in jail. 31 counts of the espionage act. and yet you had hugh hewitt being like he didn't even try to sell the documents. i mean, he didn't try to sell them, >> molly i will take you

here. i will take your hugh hewitt, i will raise you kevin mccarthy saying at least you could knock a bathroom door, you can't lock a garage door. of course you locked bathroom doors from the inside. gwen click quick last one to you before we wrap up this segment. you were colleagues with fani willis on a personal level. how do you think she is dealing with this kind of pressure, a local prosecutor investigating a former president, especially as a black woman facing racist attacks from trump and his supporters? >> let me say this. phony as a prosecutor's prosecutor. she's the ultimate professional, she follows the law, she followed the fact so i'm fully confident that her and her team are able to withstand all of the attacks and i flatly believes she was called for a time such as this. we've seen her active professionally, you've seen her active liberally and i think we

fox and medical universe over the last week. no, it wasn't the historic indictment of former president trump. >> we are getting new details on the biden bribery scheme. >> an alleged 5 million dollar ride. >> bribery. recent bribery and revelations. joe biden taking brides. these are the most serious allegations ever leveled against the president. >> fox has been salivating over allegations originally from republican senator chuck then vice president joe biden and his son hunter were allegedly, that being the key word caught on tape in a bribery scheme. $5 million. there's just one problem. the same top republicans have

been pushing these accusations have been admitting at the same time there's no evidence these tapes, secret audio recordings of the quote unquote scandal actually exists. >> when will you be able to confirm if these recordings are legit? >> we don't know if they are legit or not. >> given what's on a ten 10:23 is an allegation. >> do you think they exist? if yes, how to obtain them? >> we don't know. >> when even ron johnson, senator ron johnson, will get on board with your conspiracy theory, you know something is wrong. of course, that hasn't stopped fox are making at their next then gauzy. washington post national columnist found that fox dedicated just over 200 chunks of airtime to the story since the bribery allegations against biden last month. and then when trump was indicted, fox kicks the coverage into overdrive, mentioning the biden burisma bribery story accusation. more than 200 times that week

alone. philip bump of the washington post joins me now. dean and molly are back with me. philip, you've written multiple pieces about. this is there any there there? where is the evidence that brighton took a bribe. there is a recording of the bride being offered. what's the fbi's role in any of this? >> well, we don't even know that these elected tapes deal with the bribe. all we are working on here is there is a document that was created in june of 2020 in which an fbi agent recently spoke with a human source. the human source had spoken with someone who had been the hunt founder of burisma, that the founder abridgement had made allegations, getting paid 5 million dollar bribes or paying these bribes to hunter biden and joe biden. he was keeping tapes as insurance policy. that is literally it.

this document, the secondhand document that was created in june of 2020 is sitting at the fbi. the oversight committee, it has been very assiduous about trying to dig up hunter biden's finances. they haven't uncovered any evidence of this 5 million dollar bribe. all that there is to this point is this allegation that is sitting in the fbi. a secondhand conversation with someone else. >> it's taken on a life of its own. the moderate republican, nancy mace puts out a tweet accusing biden of being involved in a bribery scheme. they are stating the stuff as fact. i think in another tweet, she declared it as fact. the rest of the liberal media are then being accused by people who are not covering the story. it's a very convenient way of smearing someone. >> yes. also, i would say the timing is highly suspect. right after you have the republican, you had these two indictments of the republican front runner the.

state indictment and then the federal indictment. all of a sudden, wait, there's something with biden. there are these tapes. i mean, i just think it's very convenient. remember, this is the whole steve bannon thing. you make everybody look bad. you flood the zone with an expletive. you make it seem like everybody is corrupt. this one's, corrupt that once corrupt. nobody on the level. it's to make trump look less bad. it's intentional. >> yes, it's funny you mention the timing. of course, i saw fox people saying, oh, they indicted trump

in order to distract from the bribery story. even though there's no real bribery story as ron johnson of all people in. that's how much of this is projection from the? right this obsession, for example, with hunter biden. a private citizen. never served in government. allegedly doing dodgy things. i don't know if he did it all. and then you have jared kushner. made two billion dollars from the saudis after leaving office. and then here of alchemy tons of money while in office. we're supposed to not pay attention to that and just talk about hunter 24/7? >> of course, jared, the two billion from the saudis. ivanka got trademarks by the chinese government and the japanese government. while her father was in the white house doing business with both those nations. doing trade deals. look, many, how critical must be to be republican. you're not concerned by facts. you just make things up. eugene playbook. he fabricates of thing. you repeat it off enough. they stay on message. repeat it often enough.

and then fox news is the fabrication amplifier. it gets out there. and then those people call my radio show. they tell me things as a fact. why am i not covering joe biden's bribery. where is the audio? where is the informant. it doesn't matter. okay, facts no matter. just like the 2020 election was stolen. it doesn't matter. it's whatever they want to leave. they believe that. what a remarkable way to live life. >> another reason why for -- refused to refer it as fox news. it's just lightly not. philip, at the center of the burisma conspiracy theory, is then vice president biden publicly threatened ukraine that it would get a billion dollars of loan guarantees until they removed the then prosecuted victor shokin who republicans say it was investigating corruption at burisma. philip, didn't we learned during the first trump impeachment trial back in 20 2019, that show can wasn't even investigate brisbane to begin with. the conspiracy theory doesn't really make sense. also, if andrea bottom, why am i announcing to the world that i'm doing corruption? >> this is our rehash from four years ago. we made it through this. there's no evidence to show it was actually engaged in this investigation. this has been over multiple times. the problem with shokin, the reason they made -- it it wasn't just by that -- it was an array of people from the west. all sorts of european leaders

were joining that call. it was corrupt. he wasn't investigating corruption. he was going out there and he wasn't doing his job as prosecutor general. so, the initial allegations about joe biden. firing him, threatening to withhold american financing. you know, it was sort of a second order threat anyway. that entire thing started with shokin in the first place. shokin started talking to giuliani. early 2019, everything's been downhill from there. you're absolutely right. we've already adjudicated this. any number of times. of course, the last four years. so, this entire bribery scandal itself. if you read the new york post coverage, for example, they're like, oh, it's because he wasn't vetted -- we know he wasn't. so, if that's the point of leverage here, we already know, it's already been established that's not the case. things fell apart of that in any way. >> why or why is the liberal media not covering the joe biden bribery story? well, we've covered it tonight. it's bs. thank you dean, molly, and philip for the debunking. thank you so much. >> -- >> coming up my conversation

you heard that. right, a man running for the democratic nomination for president believes wi-fi can melt your brain. apologies, i suppose, if you are streaming the show from a starbucks café. what, pray tell, was mr. rogan's reaction to this completely unproven and bonkers sounding claim? >> oh, we have to get rid of wifi. >> we have to get rid of wi-fi. i'll remind you, that was somehow one of the tamer conclusions of their conversation. rogan and rfk's juniors fearmongering about vaccines was even more disturbing. so disturbing that dr. peter hotez, a renowned global health expert and the co-director of the center for vaccine development at texas children's hospital tweeted out a vice article critical of all the medicine formation spouted by them. that was not well received by joe rogan, who responded by asking hotez to come on the program and debate rfk junior. promising to pay $100,000 to a charity of his

choice if hotez agree to do so. that was just beginning. shortly thereafter, elon musk, the chief twit himself, the man who once protected that covid would be gone by april of 2020, logged on to declare that hotez reticence to engage in it infamous anti-vaxxers evidence that hotez, quote, knows he's wrong. >> look, i literally wrote a book about the art and importance of debate. yet, i am telling you tonight that i am tired of the incessant debate me, bro, mantra from conspiracy nuts on social media. it is never a good idea for an award-winning world-renowned peer reviewed, vaccine scientist or an actual experts and any academic field to debate and unhinged crank who thinks bill gates wants to control us with microchips, or that chemicals in the water are turning kids transgender. yes,

emails and the stuff online that just total wackadoodle. let's face it, when you have rfk junior and joe rogan and elon musk all tag teaming, i mean, that probably includes just about every follower on twitter. it was a pretty overwhelming. >> i am so sorry to hear that. especially given the work you do. having to deal with these people. i mean, look, contrary to what rfk junior and other anti-vax nuts have claimed, there is no connection between vaccines and autism. no connection, no established documented connection between vaccines and serious diseases or mass deaths. vaccines tend to save lives across the board. do they not? that's what the peer reviewed evidence overwhelmingly shows. does it not? people are dying right now from covid still. because the evidence on covid vaccines efficacy is being ignored or shouted down on social media.

>> there's three or four moving parts to this. i'm a vaccine scientist. i make low-cost patent free vaccines for low and middle income countries. we made 100 million doses. we made two vaccine prototypes. 100 million doses being administered in india and indonesia. no patents, minimal strings attached. we actually found a way to bypass the pharma companies and yet rfk jr. incessantly calls me a pharma shill. if anything, they may be kept pfizer and moderna. i don't understand that piece. the reason i got involved with rfk in the first place is i have an adult daughter rachel who has autism and intellectual disability. they did not cause her autism. and that -- he's been after me ever since then. and now he's at it again. this

time, you know, i'm sorry, it's caused something really terrible. and that is during our covid pandemic, i have a new book coming out that basically says 200,000 americans needlessly perished because they believed the anti vaccine disinformation and refused to take a covid vaccine during the wave in 2021 and 2022. after vaccines were widely available. so, the point, is anti vaccine disinformation, it's always done a lot of damage. now it's a lethal force in the united states. and that's why we have to have that discussion. and i offered to come and talk and go on joe rogan again. i've been on a couple of times. i have offered to have the discussion. not to turn it into the jerry springer show with having rfk junior on. >> it's sad. i am so fed up with debate, meet debate. me it's not really about debate.

if it was about finding information, as you, said you've already written about vaccines and autism. >> you've spoken written about covid vaccines. hundreds of times since the start of the pandemic. people can hear your views and evidence to bring to this. they're not actually interested in evidence. it saddens me. you are a man who basically has saved lives abroad with the vaccines you've developed. whereas rfk has contributed to a culture of vaccine misinformation that is led to death, as you say, of hundreds of thousands of lives. yet he's the one being celebrated by people like musk and jack dorsey, you're being smeared and defamed. i would say, i don't know if you'd agreed to debate or not, my advice is not, people find it surprising, i wrote a book about debate. i just think there's a time in a place for debate. i don't think this historian of world war ii should debate a holocaust denier. that's my analogy here. i don't think these debates with experts and cranks to anything other than elevate cranks. >> you're absolutely right. there are certain things you debate. i understand what a

debate about 18th century and lightning philosophy is, debating russo and bishop barkley. i understand political debates. in science, we don't typically do debates. what we do is we write scientific papers. we present our findings in front of a critical audience of peers to solicitous their input and suggestions. one doesn't typically debate science. maybe the one-off discussion of an evolution versus creationism. that sort of thing that's not what we do in science. so, that's problem number one. problem number two, debating with rfk jr, or i've discussed this issue with him many times by phone and by email. the problem is, he just keeps on moving the goalpost. first it was the -- what's that? >> we mean the goalpost is literally white conspiracy theorist do. >> then it was the

mind? was this a complete shock? >> no, i was absolutely stunned. first thank you for having me on. i appreciate your attention to everything and what's going on. no i had no concerns about teaching this lesson. i had vetted it before. my previous year class had studied it to no issue. the eu there -- was no new material. i follow the standards of the college board for arguments, for all of the components of ap one. there should not have been an issue. >> you weren't indoctrinating or brainwashing them? >> no, no, no. >> as a white woman, mary, talk to us about what happens if we teach generation a majority white students, including, presumably, the two who complained about you, your teaching is being antiquated, we can't talk about racism or

racial equality in schools. what kind of young, south carolina names are young americans do we end up with? if teachers like yourself can't even assign a book. hey, make up your own mind about this look. >> it's important to mention that the goal was not to say, hey, read this, and then agree with what is being presented. the goal was to, here is an argument. now, you research on your own afterwards and determine if what you have read is a valid. but hold way. if it doesn't, lost five to. the purpose is to teach civil discourse of ap. that is the primary goal of that class. if you limit perspective, if you limit topics, if you sense or what can be taught, those students are not going to know how to engage with people who have different opinions and perspectives. they're not going to be prepared for the classroom. obviously, there are problems

with democracy, as far as that goes. i think it contributes to deterioration of democracy on a whole. >> well, said one asked question. you have the republican party and concert is rallying around the notion of free speech. is their free speech in the classroom today? they seem to be the ones to birding this discussions around race and diversity. i wondered, you personally, how chilling is this a moment for you as a teacher? how worried are you and your fellow teachers about your jobs, about your security, about your future in this profession? >> obviously, all of this calls that into question. we are loony losing teachers at rapid rates. we've lost some great colleagues this year. it's quite upsetting. the -- prior to this experience, my classroom was a lovely environment. it was like a family. we had debates, students were able to engage with each other with different perspectives. at the end of a debate, go back to being friends. after this happened, those
