5:18 am
didn't believe mark meadows, or as a judge and saying, considering all of the evidence presented by the defense, because it was their burden, i gave mark meadows his testimony the perfect weight. >> there are two ways to look at, it we can conclude that judge jones just thought mark meadows didn't carry's burden, but i think that the stronger inference is that judge jones didn't believe mark meadows. it wasn't hard to conclude that mark meadows was not being straight when he was testifying under oath, one, for example, he testified that i had nothing to do with the alternate electors scheme. the fake elector scheme. then he was cross-examined with some of his own written communications when somebody urged him to get involved in the alternate electors scheme. what did mark meadows say in writing? on that, as of yesterday, there are two conclusions to draw. one, he was lying under oath, or, he was lying in his own

nine witnesses in the span of less than 24 hours. we'll get these bills returned. what doesn't mean that you have somebody who made it to that indictment whose name doesn't even appear in the special grand jury? >> what an interesting developments. i see three possibilities, katie, with respect to all of these people, but especially the grand jury said, you know, what there is enough evidence to charge, them but we haven't seen charges for them yet. here are three possibilities. one, they may be cooperating, so there was no need to charge them. then of course, there are 30 coconspirators in that r.i.c.o. indictment. this was handed down by the georgia grand jury. any number of these that the grand jury suggested could be charged decided to participate as unindicted coconspirators. maybe the d.a. willis decided there was insufficient evidence, because in a grand jury finds probable cause to indict, the
5:28 am
prosecutor still has to assess the evidence and decide whether there is a reasonable likelihood of success on the merits. that means, a conviction should you decide to take the case to trial. maybe fani willis decided that she couldn't meet that burden. here's the outlier, katie. these people, who were named for the indictment, but we haven't seen them show up in an indictment yet, they could be indicted in the future. think about the jack smith's indictment that was handed down in washington, d.c.. there are six pretty important, unnamed, but pretty well identified coconspirators. i had in every expectation that we will see a second wave of indictments in washington, d.c.. thus far, those unindicted coconspirators. so it could be that fani willis is not yet done indicted people in georgia. >> the indictment extravaganza may not be over, according to unquestionable, glenn, i always

kind of track record, gop voters would be swooning at the thought of making america florida. the twice impeached, quadruple indicted, disgraced one term vice president still holds a commanding lead and the polls. with florida governor, ron desantis, consistently trails at a distant second. this shows that republican voters are just not ready to desantis. joining us now, msnbc strategist and house committee spokesperson for the republicans. thanks for the next installment of i'm just not that into you either,. last week we looked at one -- let's start with ron desantis. the first topic is abortion. desantis is gunning for that six-week abortion ban that he got past here, telling us that men should be providing financial support to pregnant women from the moment of conception because, quote, most women don't want to have abortions. kurt, tell us why desantis, on a national level, might be such a disaster in what is already a
5:48 am
disastrous abortion stance. >> yeah, i mean, it would be disastrous for women in america, but really, this is a disastrous platform for the republican party. let's be very clear here. the republican party extreme up position that women's rights in america is completely out of the mainstream with not just democrats, not just with independents, but a lot of republican voters as well, frankly. this is why, when republicans lurch this fall to the extreme, they end up just stepping on themselves, and putting themselves in political peril. every data point that we've seen since roe v. wade was compromised, as shown is that this is a losing issue for republicans. a midterm election that should've been a massive red wave given where the economy was at the time, given the presidents current approval ratings, they should've had a 20, 30 seat majority. because the impact of roe v. wade, they barely got through a majority. the biggest majority in my lifetime, at least.
5:49 am
they lost the seat and senate, they gave political oxygen to democrats in a vulnerable position, and the fact that they're looking at 2024, katie, saying, you know, at let's run that back. let's do that one more time and see if it gets any better. after what we've seen in places with very red states, republicans have gone upside down on this. they keep doing the same things. for ron desantis to think this is the path to overtake donald trump, to get further to the right, if that's even possible, of donald trump to the abortion issue, it's not going to work. it's just a stunt. apparently no one in america wants to make america florida. >> let me be on record by saying if you're going to force women to have kids, you better give them financial support. maybe ron desantis will be the first to come for that. let's switch gears and talk about the fact that just a few days ago, a federal judge is telling round is and is that his, desantis's version of congressional map here in florida, quote, diminish black voters ability to elect their candidate of choice. further advancing the gop agenda, kurt, of
5:50 am
disenfranchising minority voters, especially black voters. why should americans not want to sentence in the white house? >> well, let's be very clear that not just with ronda sanders in florida, we're seeing this now all across the country. the republican -- is to try to do everything they can to make it harder for communities of color, minorities, to franchise voters, to participate in the democratic process. they know that when the plane failed as level, they're simply more of us than there are them. we've seen all the reports from the u.s. census bureau that the very near future, we are going to be a majority, a minority country. there's going to be a majority of non white people compared to white people for the first time. that terrifies the republican party. the kryptonite for the republican party is our diversity, so we're going to do everything they can to suppress voter participation in america, because if the numbers are, fair if the process is fair, they know that they have no path to hold on to political power. that is what's driving this

entire republican party platform, and been antidemocratic. >> curt, finally, if there was any reason to not support rhonda sanchez, it's the fact that he has not going to win. i'm not a gop, are but i know from the gop, desantis campaign official is telling the media that a, quote, strong second place showing in iowa is a good thing. i'm going to invoke talladega nights, ricky bobby. your first, your last. so big dollar donors are ditching to santas that this time. kurt, why is ron desantis just as bad for america as donald trump? >> well, i'll tell you, this is one thing about voter is. i'm not sure which is worse. voters can tell when you are not authentic, we are trying to run as a knock off of someone. elsewhere on desantis is just a poor mans donald trump. he shrine all that he can to emulate him make donald trump in his style, his brand of device politics.
5:52 am
he's not the real thing. the real thing is still in the ranks. is not going to work. that's what republican voters have pretty much rejected foreign desantis. the idea that this guy, who is going to be the anti trump, not trump alternative for republicans, is laughable. the fact that he's gone around trying to convince people,, hey hopefully i can finish second. that's a really tough proposition to make. who's damoff to write that? you, know it's like if you're going to try to beat the real thing in donald trump, you've got to be something different. he is proving to everyone that he's not up for this fight. >> that's why desantis is not going after donald trump like others should be doing. kurt, you brought up one of my favorites say, is that your better to be a first read version of yourself than a second white versus someone else. you are an original. thanks for joining me today, i appreciate you. >> thank you. >> so the white house situation room is actually undergoing a big overhaul for the first time in 15 years. nbc news correspondent, monica
