had, senator marco rubio and my daughter ivanka were so impactful on that issue. it's a very important issue. but i think, when you talk about the kind of numbers that i'm talking about. that because, child care is child care. you know it's something, you have to have it in this country. you have to have it. but when you talk about those numbers compared to the kind of numbers that i'm talking about by taxing foreign nations at levels that they're not used to. but they'll get used to it very quickly. it's not going to stop them from doing business with us, but they'll have a very substantial tax when they send product into our country. those numbers are so much bigger than any numbers we're talking about including child care. that it's going to take care. we're going to have, i look forward to having no deficits within a fairly short period of time. coupled with, the reductions that i told you about on waste and fraud and all of the other

things that are going on in our country. because i have to say with child care, i want to stay with child care. but those numbers are small. relative to the kind of economic numbers that i'm talking about. including growth. but growth also headed up by what the plan is. that i just that i just told you about. we're going to be taking in trillions of dollars, and as much as child care, is talked about is being expensive, it's relatively speaking not very expensive compared to the kind of numbers we'll be taking in. >> we wanted to play that in its entirety so that you see it all for yourself and no one says you edited or manipulated or cut it. the initial question was about what specific piece of child care legislation would trump advance. something a politician, a presidential candidate should be able to answer pretty easily if he had a piece of legislation that he was aware of. this wasn't a rally filled with his die-hard supporters. this was a room of economic

experts wanting to hear him explain his policies and legislation. since then, top economic thinkers including the woman who asked him that very same question have blasted trump's incoherent word salad. so once again, he's lost the room. but if you didn't watch that with your own eye and instead relied on legacy media outlets for the interpretation, for the story. you might have been left with a total different perspective. instead of focusing on trump's nonanswer, outlets like the new york time, politico, the associated press all presented

the bizarre spectacle as it if was a normal speech focused on tariffs, low taxes and economic explosive growth. the media is still willing to sensitize trump's rambling to make him more palatable for the voter. the same media who did not stop covering biden's. tara comire, tom nichols staff writer for the atlanta. we want to hear from you, the more egregious violation the failure of the immediate yo -- failure of the media to say, trump will do it by raising

tariffs. >> and the media cannot report trump as he is because they will seem partisan. whenever you quote trump and you look at the actual transcript. i'm always like that can't really be it. those are not sentences. they sort of put them together to appear nonpartisan. but unfortunately appearing nonpartisan makes trump seem like a completely different person. what was very good about that moment, she asked a very clear question and then she really snuck up in a follow up question. what's your policy and how are you going to implement it. where trump gets into trouble. he gets into trouble, a lot of trouble. he's constantly lying and meandering. but when he gets into trouble is when you ask him how? >> yeah build a wall. how. mexico is going to pay for it. no. >> so to him child care, ivanka

is child care. >> rubio. >> yeah. >> even his supporters are getting tired of it. the rnc, by the end of it a large number were empty. is the rambling turning them off or is it because it's the same old tired play book. >> i think it's a bit of all of the above. i think that everyone has a bit of fatigue even some of the trump supporters now. not the cullty trump supporters but the trump supporters who two and they say, okay we've kind of seen this. you're a fan of a certain entertainer or comedian and they give a, you know a performance where you're like, it wasn't the greatest. people are tired of it because he doesn't have new material. he keeps repeating the same thing over and over again. and they want more.

when he tries to do something we hear the insanity. trump has been off the rails. not just in these rallies but the social media posts. the rambling of an absolute lunatic every single day. and the media does to molly's point, some media, they try to report it in a way that normalizes it. there's no normalization of donald trump putting out these threads where he's threatening to jail donors. jail people who election officials. people he's threatening mass deportations, he's threatening seize and desist, you can't seize and desist people because you don't like what they're doing or mad at them.

it's insane. and yet there's very little coverage of it. it's like, well that's just trump being trump. no. that would be fine if he were still the reality show host on the apprentice. >> not 10 years into it. >> right. he's running for president of the united states again. he will have control of a nuclear code. this is a problem. and it's why people are able to say, well, i might not like him but i like his policies. well what policies are those? and you don't get to excuse the fact that he's a horrible person. and think that that separates his ability to govern. they are interconnected so stop giving people a pass for still supporting someone that is this dangerous to our country. that's why, a republican woman was interviewed and asked why she is supporting kamala harris. she said because she is a normal human being. the woman who cried tears in pittsburgh, that woman is just, i think she represents a lot of america just saying are we going to be okay? and kamala harris showed empathy and compassion. things that a normal well adjusted human being is capable

of. donald trump is none of those things. >> do you think a child care question would be a simple question to answer. so, give me your thoughts on how revealing was this moment, or is it not revealing at all in the sense that his base people who are probably not die- hard followers of politics wouldn't have watched it. even though that clip did go viral. they're probably just reading the headlines as i mentioned whether it's in the new york times or other news sites that just kind of, you know, sane washed it as molly said. >> what's revealed is, he doesn't care about policy. his followers don't care about policy. you know, something molly and tara brought up, tara's point people say i like his policies. that's nonsense. that's top cover for them i just like the fact that he makes people mad and he hates the people i hate. because his policies change in

so far as he has any every 30 seconds. that notion that we have to talk about trump's policies goes to molly's points. they say, i can't write this. i can't write that the republican nominee is a deeply messed up person. i'm a serious person and serious persons write about policies so therefor i have to write about policies. and i have to ignore donald trump and i have to talk about republicans. and they're making hay of that. you have to drill in deep on kamala harris' policies, when they turn to donald trump and they say what's your policy.

very reason. trump does not have a ground game. they're going to try to intimidate people. and maybe sue about results. but harris actually has a real ground game. you saw after the debate, the four, you know the vice president, the president and their spouses are going on a bus tour of all the swing states. so remember, and harris has opened the map in georgia and north carolina. so one of the great things about having a 59-year-old candidate who doesn't play golf and live in you know at her country club, is that she can now go and spend the next, which she must do, the next 58, 59 days on a bus, going to every single swing state again and again and again. and letting people know her. because she's quite good when she campaigns. and that's what she needs to do. and i think the vice president

i think her vice presidential candidate tim walz. >> you have candidate that can actually campaign. the debate that donald trump had against biden. people forget how bad donald trump's performance was because everybody was focused on joe biden. donald trump lied his way completely incoherent throughout the entire debate. he's not going to have that going up against kamala harris. a disciplined former prosecutor who's 20 years younger than him. >> that's why he's sitting the opposition so low. he knows he's going to lose. he doesn't have the mental agility that kamala harris has. he's about to get cross examined for the first time in front of the american people in a way that he has never faced before. she's literally a prosecutor. against a felon. that visual alone is something

because when they overturned rowe there were no exceptions. right. a lot of these state bans were so punitive and they didn't have exceptions for the life of the mother, they didn't have exceptions for rape and insist. still a lot of republicans toy with there shouldn't be some exceptions. some places have some exceptions but they're not thought out very well. that indicative of the rest of the situation is a lot of this isn't thought out very well. it's just sort of, it's culture wars. it's you should hate the libs too. it's the reason they outsourced it. they put it all in a book and everybody was like whoa, this is not what anyone wants. there's not a lot of interest in policy for either of them. and it's usually a cultural war campaign yet again. >> and this is irony here,

our life. it targets ivf girl dads. the ivf debate here is also important because they say they're profamily but yet, these are people who, don't care if ivf is taken away or contraception. they want to tell people how to create their own families. that's a problem. the girl dads out there are looking at this out there saying i don't want these people telling me or my wife how and when we are to become parents. i don't want them taking away the ability for me to protect my daughter. because that's what the overturning of rowe has created. and you're looking at all these states that have these ballot initiatives and you're looking at what, donald trump and vance keep saying, i will give it back to the states. the states should decide. really? look at what happened in missouri. you need to get signatures and now republicans are trying to question the signatures and whether they can get it on the ballot. they're trying to mess with the process. you don't want to leave these decisions up to maga people who are in positions of power in

than 50 lawsuits alleging voter fraud have been filed against him and his office since he took the job and they have not lost a single one. maricopa county reporter steven richard joins me now. a pretty impressive record i have to say with all the victories you've advantaged. and i have to give you mad props for having the stamina to respond to all these people. it shows the people that work in the front lines of protecting democracy. what made you want to take on elon musk in this way. >> it was flabber tkpwaásing that he would take on complete truth a lawsuit that had been filed by a very partisan, very politically motivated group that has lost many lawsuits in the past without even bothering to look at our response or any of the things that we postto social media. so ordinarily i would say that's not problematic but when

it comes from an account that has two bizzilion followers some people take it as gospel. >> so tell us about the lawsuit that has been filed against you on america first legal. why is your county along with other counties in arizona being sued. why are they so obsessed with you and arizona. >> i think they're upset with arizona because arizona is a battleground state and the locus of so many of the allegations that there was a stolen election in 2020. now i'm sure that they would say well arizona is a border state and we have a particular interest in maintaining the integrity of process. and fortunately and something that musk fails to note. arizona is one of few states in the country that have a documented proof of citizenship law in order to be able to vote a full ballot. so while arizona according to musk is way behind every other state and is refusing to do

these basic securities, we're actually ahead of most states and the numbers that were sited in musk's posts were unlikely. and aside from that i guess it was a proactive post. >> i'm glad you dismantle it the way you just did. and it raises the point that, i mean it's one thing for republicans to be spreading these voter fraud lies. but when you're one of the richest men in the world and you have a platform with hundreds of millions of followers. elon musk platforming these. >> i don't remember whether spider man or george w. bush who said with great power comes great responsibility. but i think there's some truth to that. and when people like mr. musk

post on twitter or speak to numerous inaccuracies it's offices like mine and 150 employees who are on the office who see the downstream effects of that. i will tell you while some downstream effects take the form of hey i would like to know more about what mr. musk is posting. some take a very ugly and very violent form. and i am just here to say to those leaders and people like mr. musk, please be a little more judicious. please do a little more information on the front end so we don't have to witness these ugliness and attacks on our institutions on the back end. >> i want to talk to you more broadly about the attacks because as i mentioned you're a republican. you famously stood up against trump's misinformation. he accused you of deleting files from the election. we played that from shelby

bush. a republican county vice chair she would lynch you. a threat. tell me how it's been for you a republican becoming a mega maga target. >> it's disappointing, disilusionary, it's bizarre. the law, the truth, are never on the side of people who want to allege mass fraud. was never on the side of the people who want to say that the 2020 election was stolen. and you said at the outset very kindly, thank you. that my office has faced more than 50 lawsuits and that we've won all of those. and it's not because we're brilliant or we went to, you know, i went to the university of chicago which i like to think is the best lawsuit. but it has nothing to do with that it has to do with the fact and law being on our side.

it's really just that simple and i have been stubborn in pointing out those facts. and for that, it has of course provoked much ire and it is just saddening to see what it's done. >> how concerned are you that arizona republicans are still supportive of these election lies almost four years on. i mean last month you, lost your primary race to state representative justin heap who was endorsed by many republicans who enforce to refuse joe biden's victory including kerry lake. >> yeah, i mean we're the party of abraham lincoln, we're the party of ronald reagan. of bill buckley and we target on that the election was stolen. when i didn't want to get on

board with that, it was disqualifying in the primary in 2024. it was disqualifying for me republicans in the primary of 2022 in terms of gubernatorial, u.s. senate. it also makes it very hard to win a general election that headed by state by arizona. not only have we bought into this falsity, full full stop. or we're also losing general elections left and right. and so, the republican party of mccain, of john kyle, of doug ducey has been hollowed out. that's another side effect of a trump presidency. >> there have been republicans, big name republicans like dick cheney and his daughter liz cheney that have come out in
