the floor with donald trump, it has been obvious since the days since and he has been out there for every vote and he descended further and further down the conspiracy rabbit hole. both are dostanding by and comi up first but as the republican ticket doubles down on the racist lies terrorizing ohio, we will be talking live in studio. later, a conspiracy theorist has been by trump side all week long and sarah matthews joins me to talk about the mega match made in heaven. if getting embarrassed by vice president harris in front of more than 67 million debate watchers by the way this week tc made donald trump furious, and you know it did, it is clear the rest of the week has added to the rage. let's take a look at the things
9:02 am
that are making donald trump very mad right now. and just this morning a poll d showed harris cutting the lead in iowa of all places and just to give you a sense of what it means, the poll had trump leading joe biden by 18 points. and he got iowa by non-points -- nine point since 2020 and hasn't been a swing state since 2008. you must night at a dinner in washington harris mock trump for this line in the debate r about having concepts of a plan and all week long she filled stadiums with tens of thousands of people in crucial swing states like north carolina and pennsylvania and got the endorsement of taylor swift, which is clearly still driving trump nuts. if you happen to click over to truth social this morning, here is what you saw. i hate taylor swift. clearly under his skin.

it was so embarrassing for donald trump that karl rove basically called trump stupid in the editorial pages of the in wall street journal. so, yes, trump was embarrassed tuesday night and has been embarrassed every day since. in response, he is not retooling his campaign team are planning a bus trip across the united states to connect to voters. of course not. he is going back to the same xena phobic and racist playbook that he thinks got him the at election in 2016. and he is appealing to his base with fear of immigrants, black and latino communities, and fear of anybody who doesn't look like him and his running mate, jd vance. the most dangerous step he took this week is doubling down on a claim debunked by the local police, the mayor, and the republican governor of ohio that haitian immigrants in ohio are eating pets. it was a claim hithat originate with a facebook post from one wi

person who later disavowed it and faxed don't matter to him. he prompted the explosion of this theory himself by elevating it on the debate stage on tuesday. later vowing mass deportation starting in springfield, ohio. the result of all this is a po city being terrorized right now. today wittenberg university has been put on high alert as people threatened to shoot patients on campus and yesterday a bomb threat threatened to hospitals to go into lockdown in multiple schools and municipal buildings were evacuated or closed on thursday and friday due to similar threats. at least one of which used hateful language s toward haitians. nbc news reports a neo-nazi group which pushed the false claim in the first iaplace is doing this to local residents have spoken out.
9:05 am
surprise surprise. trump is doing absolutely nothing to calm things down. when asked yesterday if he denounced the bomb threats, he definitely didn't say yes. >> you denounced the bomb threats in ohio? >> i don't know hewhat happened with the bomb threats. i know it has been taken over by illegal migrants. that is a terrible thing that happened. springfield was this beautiful town. they are now going through . >> when the question is do you denounced bomb threats terrorizing an american city, the answer should be unambiguous, but of course trump's was not. in the next breath he lied about migrants who were in this country illegally. and we have seen this pattern d before. trump stoking conspiracy theories and commenting on them is this a casual observer and setting fire to the building and pours gasoline all over it t and then wonders out loud why it is burning. this is what he does and discuss anyone who was in the

u.s. capitol on january six. he may be a buffoon who was criticized for his comments at the debate but it doesn't make them any less dangerous. i think kamala harris capture that dynamic perfectly at the democratic convention. >> in many ways, donald trump is an punserious man. but the consequences of putting donald trump back in the white house are extremely serious. >> joining me now are two people who never hold back and who will have thoughts about all of this is congressman jasmine crockett and george conway. i want to start with donald trump's refusal to condemn the bomb threats and what was your reaction to that? >> my heart aches that this election is close because it
9:07 am
comes down to some basic norms e and principles of what we should see in leadership for the greatest country in the world and springfield is going through but they do because the guy who says he wants to be the commander in chief is actually bringing that to the footstepsn and he decided amplify ally on a national stage harming american citizens and that is a problem and when i talk about maga, i talk about the fact that when we finally swore in, we swore to defend against those that are coming against us, whether they are domestic or international. right now, i feel like maga in general is a threat to us ne domestically. and we sit time and time again. and i think you see leaders coming together there is only one person qualified to be the commander-in-chief and that is kamala harris. >> a letter signed this morning by people who worked for ronald
9:08 am
reagan and i want to ask and talk about this as well but, lk george, you have been warning about this pattern, about stoking and feeding into conspiracies and letting it sit out there and doing nothing to calm it. what has been your reaction as you watch the events of the last few days in the absolute st terror that has been unleashed on the people of springfield, ohio, as a result? >> what i have said for years is donald trump is a sociopath. they lie relentlessly. they have no empathy or caring for other people. who refuses to say that they condemn a bomb threat? a sociopath or psychopath. somebody who has no caring or feeling for other people and only cares for himself. it is all about him and how he thinks he can spur people on into violence and support him.
9:09 am
he is just a dangerous person. e that is exactly why you see conservatives like me and the 17 people from the reagan administration and liz cheney and so many others speaking outa and saying we can't have you back because he is a danger that even when he isn't president. he is a danger campaigning causing all this estrouble and not rioting but the danger happening in springfield, ohio. that is what he does. >> one of the things, and i mentioned this and i would love your thoughts on this. this is a pattern. he loves to go after -- this is his playbook. he loves to go after communities that don't look like him. he goes after black and latino m communities and those who have a large number of immigrants. it is a fear based approached. he does it in aurora, colorado,d as well. what should people understand and know about that? haitian families ndare keeping kids inside with schools and hospitals being shut down. what
9:10 am
should people know about that in the impact of communities? you see these communities impacted. >> he loves to say things such as they are illegal. every time he talks about an immigrant, he makes it seem as if they have done something nefarious. just because they are immigrants, it doesn't mean there is anything illegal about them. what is so wild about me is they never think about the facty that they literally have children of immigrants. donald trump is married to an immigrant as well as jd vance. your children are children of immigrants, and you are going out and attacking other immigrants every chance you get . again, it comes down to basic

decency in this country. i think the reason you see the polling numbers you see and i what is because people are waking up that we can't live ki this way. this can't be the guy supposed to protect us when it comes to people coming out against us. this is the same guy that couldn't say on the debate stage he wanted to have ukraine win. he doesn't understand who our friends are and doesn't understand who we d are as a nation which we are a country ti of immigrants. the demonization of any group of people, whether it is black folk and saying, you know what? we have to make sure that officers have immunity to go ahead and kill them criminally or whether we talk about those w he says, all of the hispanics coming in, they will rape your children. the problem isn't the people coming in but this guy and his people here doing the bomb threats throughout our country and domestic terrorism is a real thing. he is the guy who tstarts it. >> this is very much an american story, the city of springfield, ohio. people forget that. they need people to do jobs and brought people in and they asked haitian immigrants to come to this town to do these
9:12 am
jobs and more to say on that but i want to start talking more. george, you are good at getting into the mind of donald trump. o what struck me about his behavior is it feels to me like, yes, sociopathic behavior to quote you, but also desperation. it feels like desperation when he feels under attack, when he q is behind. he behaves this way. how has that struck you in this regard about what it says about his mental state? >> he is reaching his final destination, which is complete decomposition and decompensation. none of his tricks are working anymore. we are on to them. they don't excite anybody anymore. he is losing in the polls. he has to try to make things up in his own vice presidential candidate basically said we are making up stories to win this election. it isn't working for him. he
9:13 am
knows it and he knows he is going down. the more he feels he is going down -- remember, he is not wn running just for president but running from prison and you will see him engage in more desperate behavior and that is what you see with i hate taylor swift. he is lashing out and his people have lost control. the only person who seems to e have any control over him as ve the person who is telling him or whispering in his ear or doing something to tell him that everything is great and that is the allure. this is the ultimate implosion. we are watching it live. it will get worse. >> laura loomer is a 9/11 truth or that he brings to a 9/11 memorial which in itself is crazy. he is self combusting himself as george has said but if you az are a harris team member in the vice president had a great moment when she talked about
9:14 am
the concepts of a plan but what do you do with all of this? you talk about it or do you run a different game? >> a combination of all of it. one of the greatest things about the dnc is most people realized how deep the benches and the only people that will show up to a rally are the trump people. they will only show up for him but when it comes to kamala harris she can send us anywhere. we can go on the news rrand tal and make fun of him or go on social media and do our thing but she reminds people of who he is not by characterizing him herself but using his words and i think that is what is upsetting to him. she is using his words of concepts of a plan and mocking him just like we took over the black job rhetoric. we do have black jobs. it is to go vote in november and make sure this guy doesn't get back and. we are taking his words and we flipping them on him.
9:15 am
it is sad. i think about the debate. one of the things that she isn't talking about again very much that i have seen is the fact that he double down on the central park five. as people talk about black men and whether or not black men an are going over to the trump e campus, i thought for sure he would better navigate the central park five and anticipate having to anticipate dealing with that as well as his racist actions as it relates to renting or deciding not to rent to people of color. instead, he doubled down. we know these black and brown k men were exonerated and paid over $40 million. yet he still wouldn't retract what he said. that is why you would have somebody in a hood go to connecticut for the purpose of a trump rally. that is who he oscaters to. at >> listen, i am so grateful to have both of you quiet wallflowers with me on the show today. thank you so much. congresswoman wicocker it --

it is important to remember the right wing hysteria over the unfounded claim of people getting pets was based on a dubious fourth hand story posted to facebook citing a neighbor's daughter's friend and the author of the post recanted saying she had no firsthand knowledge of any such incident. and yet springfield, as we have been talking about, is being

when taylor swift dropped her seismic endorsement of kamala harris this week, she shined a big a spotlight on another issue in politics, the dangers of a.i. . she wrote, "recently i was made aware that the a.i. of me falsely endorsing donald trump's presidential run was posted to his site and it really conjured up my fears around a.i. and the spread of misinformation. it brought a conclusion that i need to be transparent for my actual plans is a voter." this week oprah winfrey called attention to the need to develop a new sense of muscle for discerning what is real and what isn't and she hosted a primetime special about a.i. called a.i. in the future of us and one of the experts featured was just

on this and somebody that she credits with bringing her up to speed on the advancements of a.i. >> even more powerful forms are coming in the stated goal of openai is to build systems that are even smarter than humans because there are trillions of dollars to be made on the other side. now is the time for us to say what are the choices we want to make about how this technology comes out? >> what do you want to see happen now? >> openai, google, microsoft, they have to be held accountable for the harms they create so they are incentivized to pull back and go with the pace that they can help society be prepared and not overwhelmed. >> who is holding them accountable? >> many of us. >> he joins me now, the center for humane technology cofounder.

thank you for joining us and this is an important topic and i want to talk to you about this exchange with you and oprah winfrey. it sounds incredibly scary and you are one of the foremost experts. help us understand what will happen if our elected officials don't act. >> it is great to see you. this is the most powerful and transformative technology that humanity has ever built in deep fakes that taylor swift brought to the world's attention with her post are one of the issues we have to face in this technology is moving insanely fast and this is the slowest least useful and least powerful a.i. will ever be and it will only go faster and become more powerful very quickly. with taylor swift, she is a powerful and wealthy person and powerless against a single deep fake being made of her. it isn't just her. regular high school students, who are the victims of apps or teenagers whose voices are

stolen to extort their mothers as we highlighted in this oprah winfrey special. these are some of the issues we are facing in the reason why oprah wanted to bring this to the world's attention, to the american public to say how do we hold these companies accountable. >> it is an important topic. a lot of people don't understand it. you are one of the foremost experts including people in charge of making the laws to help put restrictions and that are necessary. how do you help bridge that knowledge gap with elected officials in our country? >> that is a great question. there is a great quote that personnel is policy. if you want good policy you need more a.i. expertise in government. that is what the president's executive order on a.i. in october of 2023 called for.

we need so much more to happen with a.i. right now we are builders of technology. we believe we can build a good future. right now we are building our future with a.i. the way you play a game like suddenly anybody can make an amazing video with a click of the button but we had to pull out a foundational block like jenga were nobody knows what is true. this isn't a way to build our future. it is creating a wobbly foundation. we believe there is a different way starting with things like liability. if you are liable for creating new risks in society, and those risks happen, that would cause a company to go to payson invest in resources and strengthening the foundation rather than adding risk because they are currently caught in this race to rollout or a race to take shortcuts for the purpose of market dominance. we don't want to live in that

kind of future we need to act now and make laws that hold companies accountable. >> we could have a two hour conversation about this. i want you to come back and talk more but we are 50 days out from the election. that same special the fbi director christopher wray told oprah winfrey that america should be look out for disinformation from foreign actors and for people and how they can discern this information and how a.i. can be used by these bad actors, what concerns you most about the upcoming election? >> that is a great question. obviously, deep fake technology is getting better and better. it takes three seconds of taking somebody's voice to deep fake their voice to say something they didn't say. we see this happening in other elections around the world. there are videos and with deep fake it has gotten more powerful. americans need to look out for not assuming that everything you see on social media is true. the social dilemma is what is the lesson we learn from social

media? the business model isn't going for accurate and true information but going for the most outrageous content and it's easier with deep fake to create that outrageous content. >> tristan harris, very rarely do people who are experts in technology talk about things like that in an accessible way. thank you for being one of those people and i appreciate your joining us for those wanting to understand it. i hope you come back and join us again. >> of course. thank you. >> i have one more thing to tell you about today and we are back after a quick break. because it's completely changed our lives.
