in person voting for north carolina. the state board of elections said more than 200,000 already voted. governor tim walz and bill clinton campaigned in the state while kamala harris spent most of the day in the better ground wisconsin. a swing with three different stops. she was joined by mark cuban. mark cuban, who criticized donald trump's economic plans . harris called out the former president for his comments at a town hall last night when he said january 6th was a "day of love". >> january 6th was a tragic day. a day of terrible violence. attacks on law enforcement's. 130 officers were injured. some were killed. what did donald trump say last night about january 6th? he called it a "day of love".
8:03 pm
it points out something that everyone here knows. the american people are exhausted with his gas lighting. exhausted. >> his running mate, jd vance, spent the day in pennsylvania where he tried to downplay donald trump's, and about january 6th . saying that donald trump would not use the military to go after his opponents. in new york, donald trump made appearances at the annual al smith charity dinner. harris recorded a video while donald trump showed up in person. while the campaign in the final sprint, republicans are rushing to beat up donald trump's ground game in swing states. wall street journal reports that they fear that transcends

outsourcing strategy has faltered and won't have enough voters to the polls in key battlegrounds. let's bring the leadoff panel. pete buttigieg baker is the chief white house correspondent for the new york times. mark, the staff writer for the atlantic. pete buttigieg, let's start with vice president harris calling out donald trump directly for his remarks. she has been going on the offense about his fitness to lead. tonight she went after him on reproductive rights and ivf. you think this will land with voters at this point? >> what she decided to do was to take him on directly. she is focusing on the warrior part more than the joyful part. she has done that the last few days by showing clips of donald trump at her rallies by making clear that the things he is
8:05 pm
saying are the kinds of things that democrats and independents would find repugnant. that he would send the national guard or military to round up people he does not like. the idea that january 6th, a day of terror is somehow a "day of love". calling him out day after day the last stretch because she realizes she needs to make a contrast stronger in order to attract few voters who may be undecided. >> mark, vance tried out several lines to address the january 6th riot. you wrote for the atlantic that mike pence is haunting the election because he is a reminder of donald trump's actions on that day. vice president harris mentioned in the interview with fox news. how much of a weakness is the
8:06 pm
insurrection for donald trump and the republican party? in the republican apparatus is not behind donald trump. kamala harris has barack obama and bill clinton campaigning for her. that speaks volumes. mike pence was one of the most slavishly devoted vice president's in history. it was almost cringing. even who is was loyal until the bitter end, to a fault, he's not even someone who can share the stage to have any role in the campaign. you speaks volumes. democrats keep bringing up mike pence. mike pence name keeps coming
8:07 pm
up. >> not only mike pence cannot beyond the states, he does not want to. he put his name in the ring to run for president eons ago. it has been clear that he is not endorsing donald trump. you have concerns that we mentioned about his ground game, donald trump's. republicans are concerned. it is a close election. how much of a difference with the ground game make? donald trump outsourced a lot of his work to elon musk. elon musk has done a lot of things but i don't think he's ever gotten anybody elected? he never turned out voters. this is a turnout election. >> there is anxiety on both sides of the aisle. 19 days away from the election.
8:08 pm
donald trump does not have as many field offices as the harris campaign. you can make the argument that a lot of voters know donald trump. they have an opinion of him. harris is still try to get voters to know her policies and to know her. as she is doing the media blitz and trying to get voters to know her, we continue to hear from people that do not know of about her. >> voters know donald trump. isn't that why he should have an operation to communicate on the infrastructure? the last two times he has been on the ballot, he is not won. he lost his election in 2020 to bite him. his candidates did not do well in midterms. one can argue that the surrogates and infrastructure is important for donald trump
8:09 pm
for a different reason than kamala harris. infrastructure is still important. >> you are right. he has not won a majority any time he has run. he did not squeak out the majority in 2016 or 2020. he does not have a support of the majority of americans. what he needs to do to maximize the turnout, for those who are willing and ready to vote for him. i hear them talk about how republicans were months behind the democrats to get this set up . the democrats have an advantage that make a small difference at have a point or a point in better ground states. where that might be the margin of difference between the victor and loser, that could make the difference.
8:10 pm
you see a lot of republicans wearing that donald trump is not maximizing his advantages. >> can we take a turn and talk about the new biography from mitch mcconnell? it reveals that mitch mcconnell privately called donald trump all kinds of names. mitch told the ap that whatever he said pales in comparison to what jd vance , lindsey graham, and others have said about him. they are all on the same team. mitch is voting for donald trump after calling him despicable. we only know he said this because he recorded himself and gave the recordings to the biography. what is happening? break it down. >> mcconnell has said all that stuff and it's not a surprise. when asked about it he immediately threw jd vance
8:11 pm
under the bus. and, lindsey graham. he didn't get to the point where they are on the same team and so the last line which is pretty telling. mitch mcconnell's displeasure with this -- he does not have a real persuasion with the donald trump base. this is exactly the kind of thing that the donald trump campaign would not find helpful having in the news the last couple of weeks of election. another top ally of his in the senate really has little use for him. it cannot help. i think it is telling that jd vance got roped into this immediately thanks to mitch mcconnell. >> he was the first name that he throws out. it is notable. something else happened today
8:12 pm
that people may have missed. former executive from the apprentice is apologizing for creating a monster. he saw that in donald trump. i should note that it comes after the nda the executive apparently signed has expired. that's why he said he is speaking out now. do you think it matters at this point? you struck by these revelations? if loaded under the radar and this was not top for some people. >> i talk to voters all the time who say that donald trump is a businessman and america should be run like a business. he is a brand and that is why it is smart for kamala harris to utilize mark cuban because he has a similar brand. she is appealing to people who are business minded and may not like donald trump personally but worried how a democrat
8:13 pm
could impact their wallets. she is trying to appeal to some republicans and independents. >> mark cuban is a billionaire. a similar profile to donald trump in terms of people knowing his name because of a show that he did similar to donald trump's. he has been making the case about harris and now is on the trail with her. fox news, she drew over 7 million people. what you make of the number that she drew and mark cuban's involvement? >> mark loves to troll donald trump. the rival in terms of reality television shows. you saw the harris campaign bring him out because nothing annoys him more than the idea that he is a fake businessman,
8:14 pm
a tv businessman who did not really succeed. donald trump. he went bankrupt six times and relied on his father's money. mark cuban is a way to get under donald trump's skin. the fox interview, it shows that fox viewers wanted to see her in their territory. they will not watch a lot of the other media. they will only feel comfortable to watch her on fox to see how she holds up. she was not necessarily going to win them over but she got the message through for those who otherwise would have never seen her talk before. it shows that she is strong. she is willing to take on tough questions. he is not. he is ducking interviews and a debate. >> 19 days as people are voting.

daughter-in-law said she is terrified that sinwar's death could be more misery for the hostages. >> i believe there is no way to get the hostages back. i hope that my intuition is a mistake. >> reporter: can we talk about the significance of the killing of sinwar today? break that down. >> when you're hunting terrorists -- terrorists, you have to create your own luck. you have to force the adversary to make mistakes. that's what the idf did for over a year. they drove him out of the tunnels. he was separated from the hostages. this is a lucky break that the idf caught but they have been pursuing the mastermind for more than a year and today justice was delivered.
8:23 pm
>> you have a piece online. you argued that his death presents an opportunity for israel. what is the opportunity? how does israel take advantage of it? i am wondering, who does israel negotiate with now? obviously they are not speaking directly with hamas but who is the lead negotiator? in 101 hostages remain including seven americans. four are believed to be alive and three are in captivity. we want remains back. seven americans remain. an opportunity to get them back . to end the fighting. have a cease-fire with the agreement that has been agreed to by all sides. who do they negotiate with? sinwar was the key negotiator. you have to go to one or two of vasectomies -- his deputies. he have to go to the qatar

government because they have the communication with the leaders still remaining. vice president harris said that it should offer a chance to end the war in gaza. it's a tall order. the americans have been clear that they would like to work to end. european allies have been clear they want the war to end. now that he was taken out, do you think that will happen? in most senior american officials believe it will be really hard for israelis to leave gaza until he was taken out. if they leave and he takes his team underground -- and they have another october 7 style attack, we are back where we were. his death is an opportunity to have the idf get out.

october 7. i don't think the israeli government has desire to occupy gaza long-term. they want a security arrangement so they cannot attack the towns and villages in southern israel. if israel pulls back to allow hamas to rearm then we are back to where we were. there was a cease-fire for a time and that was violated by hamas. >> president biden will start a long day in germany. i imagine this will be a topic of conversation. >> it is important the european allies stand up to the threat posed by iran. vice president harris said that is the number one threat she is worried about. when she becomes president i think she will. >> it is not going away anytime soon. we appreciate your time. will only come back,
