leadership is destroyed. one, israel still needs to secure the hostages. it is unclear right now, and i think this is a very important question that is getting a little bit lost today, and that is where are the hostages? for the last couple of months we've been told by the israelis through this narrative he was underground in the tunnels surrounded by israeli hostages making it impossible to either rescue the hostages or kill him because it would jeopardize the safety and life of the hostages. well, that narrative seems to have now vanished, it has faltered because in the videos we saw he was alone, he was fighting. he died in that house. there were no hostages around him. the israelis have come out and said that. if you do find the hostages, who are you going to negotiate to find the hostages? all of them have been killed. the question who's on the ground going to physically negotiate with you about the release of

you've weakened and destroyed hezbollah's leadership. this is the moment to seize that initiative and go after iran. there are people who say this is the window in which we can use this change, this dynamic change happening in the region to goal after iran and bring about regime change netanyahu himself has been advocating for for years with the support of the united states. >> you mention top hamas negotiators have all been executed, they've been killed. does that? i mean who fills that vacuum? is it more extreme voices? where does the next extreme negotiator come from? >> if you look at the trajectory of hamas' leadership over the cast of the past 15 years it has gradually gotten more extreme, more militant, less pragmatic. hamas members said that to jimmy carter. jimmy carter is on the record saying that as something that's not a secret.
1:42 am
that was on the table at one point. it's hard to imagine now hamas' leadership, which has gotten gradually more militant, more extreme is going to come back to the negotiating table. more importantly, it's going to be interesting to see who emerges as a leader in an organization that has credibility what is happening inside gaza but at the same time can command the organization extraordinarily. >> right, that's a huge question at this stage of the game. ayman mohyeldin, thank you for coming and visiting on set in such a kind of critical moment for all of us. heyman's show airs weekends at 7:00 p.m. eastern right here on msnbc. coming up, elon musk tells a pennsylvania crowd if kamala harris wins there won't be swing states anymore because she will legalize so many illegals. that's dark maga for you. we're going to talk to someone who was on the ground for that coming up. but first trump declares january 6th as a day of love.
