trail. you know what, he understood that some values transcend party. he believed an honest argument and hearing the views of other people. he didn't demonize political opponents. do you remember at the end of the campaign when a woman at one of his rallies said, you can't vote for that arab, he's not even a citizen and he said hold on, i have had a lot of disagreements with senator obama but i served with him, he is a good man and an honorable man and a patriotic american, shut it down. he knew that if we get in the habit of bending the truth to
5:01 pm
suit political expediency or party orthodoxy, democracy can't work. the man had character. people like gabby giffords and mark kelly have karic your.'s your governor has character. your mayor has character. that is what i think about these days. i think about it a lot because it is so different from what we see right now and increasingly the entire party has decided it is okay. one of the most disturbing things about the election and donald trump's rise in politics
5:02 pm
is how we have set aside the values that people like john mccain stood for. values that we were taught. a few weeks ago, we had one of the deadliest hurricanes in american history. president and vice president harris were in north carolina meeting with officials. meanwhile, donald trump and his running mate were making up stories and circulating stories about how the biden administration was withholding aid and not giving it to republican areas and giving it to undocumented immigrants. just making stuff up. even republicans on the grounds that it was a bald-faced lie. there were real consequences to this. the other day a man was arrested for threatening fema workers because he believed
5:03 pm
some of those lies. this isn't harmless. some workers have been forced to relocate. they have been worried about their safety. people are just trying to help and you are trying to exploit that? folks at their most vulnerable p it is shameful. because donald trump feels like making stuff up, you have hard- working public servants that cannot do their job. some are not even applying for aid that they are eligible for because they believed there is no point. my question is, when did that become okay? hold on a second.
5:04 pm
i want to focus on this. no matter where you are on the issues, how could you go along with vacuuming if coworkers acted like that, they wouldn't be a coworker for very long. if you had a family member acting like that, making stuff up, you might still love them but you would tell them you have a problem and you wouldn't put them in charge of anything. yet when donald trump lies are cheap sorb bullies or shows disregard for the constitution, when he calls servicemembers like john mccain losers because they died in battle or were captured. when he calls citizens vermin
5:05 pm
or the enemy within. 's people make excuses. they think it is okay. so long as their side wins. i have to say, i have noticed this especially with some men that think trumps behavior, bullying and putting people down and act thing pretend tough guy that somehow it is a sign of strength. i am here to tell you that is not what strength is and it never has been. real strength is about working hard and carrying a heavy load without complaining. real strength is about taking responsibility for actions and telling the truth, even when it is inconvenient.
5:06 pm
real strength is about helping people that need it and standing up for those that can't stand up for themselves.. is what we should want for our daughters and our sons. that is what i want to see in the president of the united states of america. the good news, you have a candidate or candidates to vote for in the selection who demonstrate character and no what real strength looks like and who will set a good example and do the right thing and leave the country better than they found it. that is the choice in this election.
5:07 pm
if you are talking with friends, family and neighbors, and it is hard to have lyrical conversations right now. sometimes families are getting divided. friendships are broken because of it. it shouldn't be that way. ruben and i were talking, to a remarkable group of men and someone said i am so tired of everybody being divided, mean and nasty. i said no we don't have to be that way. we can make arguments while still saying i love you when i'm going to listen to you. you need to have those conversations though. if someone said i am thinking about voting for trump because i remember the economy being good. remind them why it was good.
5:08 pm
if you say i am mad about higher prices, say what is donald trump's plan for higher prices? if they don't, tell him he has concepts of the plan and it doesn't make sense is. if they are concerned about issues like immigration, f m, what do you think he is going to do? we know what he did the first time didn't work. you can have that conversation and if after you have gone through that and the folks that are not convinced say i don't know, i still like him, then you have to say, what about character? what about values?
5:09 pm
that matters. it is not just policies. don't vote for somebody who does not respect. don't vote for somebody who makes fun of people because they are not like them. don't pray on people who are weaker than you. it is about values and karic to. whether the selection is making you feel excited or scared or hopeful or frustrated or anything in between, do not sit back and hope for the best. get off your coats and put down your phone and do what? vote for kamala harris as the next president of the united states. vote for tim walz as the next vice president of the united states. vote for ruben gallego and this whole incredible arizona democratic ticket. tell your
5:10 pm
friends and family members and neighbors to do the same. if enough of us make our voices heard, we will leave no doubt about the outcome of the election. we will leave no doubt about who we are and what america stands for. and together we will keep holding a country that is more fair, more just, more equal and more free. that is our job and our responsibility. tucson, let's do it! thank you, i love you, goodbye. including barack obama's address to that rally for kamala harris ticket in tucson tonight.
5:11 pm
the ex-president now on the campaign trail and i imagine we will see him a lot. he is standing there with ruben gallego and member of the house of representatives currently running for senate. against kari lake who unsuccessfully ran for governor though to this day said she won and is now pulling behind. arizona is going to be tight up and down the ballot. we have just 18 days to go and in fact voting has already started. kamala harris and donald trump tonight are both in michigan holding rallies in oakland county and detroit. the reason you see donald trump standing on stage and his job jetting out not saying anything is because his mike went out and they are trying to get it fixed. at a personal level, that seems like a nightmare scenario and i feel a little bit of empathy for that situation. it is also kind of funny. he is just standing on stage looking around as they try to
5:12 pm
get it fixed. on the left you see kamala harris coming out in oakland county, michigan. is the final push before election day. as i have noted, we have early voting in a lot of states. it has been a long season for him with the job jetting out in disappointment. it is starting to show. to be human for a second, campaigning for president is hard. it is physically, emotionally and psychologically grueling. is particularly got to be really hard for the 78-year-old man who is the oldest major party nominee in u.s. history. >> have you seen him lately? is out there giving 2.5 hour speeches just word salad.

complained about having to campaign. >> then i'm going over to make a speech in front of 10,000 people. you think this is an easy life. i go from here and family finished and know you have one more speech. what is it 20 minutes away? >> he does not look like he is enjoying himself. he has always been one of the weirder figures in public life. he has always said disgusting and bigoted things. none of that is new. even grading on a curve it seems as though every time he gets in front of the microphone that comes out is a combination of incoherent and offensive. >> i was so amazed that harvey weinstein got hit as hard as you can get hit. he was the king of the long. >> lincoln was probably a great president the way of always

5:17 pm
>> to be clear, when he was talking about who it was that was treated like the japanese, he was referring to the january 6 folks that have been arrested and prosecuted and imprisoned for attempting to sack the capitol. all of that, you get a sense there, that is how the campaign is going. kamala harris is running a very active campaign and taking every opportunity to highlight the contrast. >> now, he is ducking debates and canceling interviews. come on! check this out, his own campaign team recently said it is because of exhaustion. well if you are exhausted on the campaign trail, it raises

5:19 pm
she did so again today. there is no denying that her 78- year-old opponent ms. incoherent and exhausted and floundering. it seems like maybe a bad idea to have him head of the country. >> david jolly is a congressman in florida and they both joined me. it is interesting that with donald trump, it has always been an issue of where you attack him. there is a lot to say. in some ways there is so much to say it overwhelms the idea of unfitness, i can't tell if that is an argument or a way of -- what do you think of that. >> i think you have seen that the democratic party and the harris campaign sees it is an argument that can persuade voters to not vote for him.
5:20 pm
maybe stay home or more importantly vote for vice president harris because they put out a campaign ad today, calling him unfit and unstable. light is such strategic and smart for vice president harris and the campaign, every time she hits him about doing unstable or weak or unfit for office, it chips away at his bravado style of politics and he can't actually campaign on issues. he is flailing and completely going off the rails. trying to push back on these allegations that the more he plays into them, the worse he looks which helps democrat. it is a strong campaign strategy in that it is a quick strategy. they can hit him about being

unfit and unstable and also talk about policy positions when all he can do is respond. >> he is talking again. i went to get your thoughts. an interesting highbred and then a meat and potatoes midsection of this ad. >> he makes a lot of promises. we can be sure of one thing, if he wins, he will ignore all checks that raining on president's power. it is all in the project 2025 agenda. what does that mean for you? higher groceries, cuts to social security, more tax breaks for billionaires and the national abortion ban, putting health at risk. a second term more unhinged, unstable and unchecked. >> interesting i david. >> it is fascinating. we are entering a period where we are seeing the closing argument. to the point, the vice
