standard, for example, trying to woo those voters that really are still on the fence. >> let's take a quick listen to what she had to say about that. >> so i hope you will forgive me if i'm a little frustrated that some of us are choosing to ignore donald trump gross incompetence while asking kamala to dazzle us at every turn it. hope you will forgive me if i'm a little angry that we are indifferent to his erratic behavior and his obvious mental decline and his history as a convicted felon. a known -- a known slum lord. a predator found liable for sexual abuse. all of this while we pick apart kamala's answers from interviews that he doesn't even have the courage to do? >> you cannot argue with the
5:05 am
way she framed that. how do you think this resonates with those -- few undecided voters that are out there? >> well, good morning. hopefully resonates well. there are very few out there that can make the case as well as former first lady michelle obama. we have known this double standard exists the whole time. we have run straight through it. that's why we put the vice president in positions to go and talk toth voters who may be watching fox news in places where democrats don't traditionally go. because we're worried about being president for all america. that's where the vice president's head is and hopefully michelle obama's comments from last night sent a jolt through the undecided voters to wake up. you still have nine days to wake up and make the right decision about somebody who is going to wake up every single day thinking about you, checking off their to-do list. or someone who's only thinking about themselves and we've seen donald trump do that. he only cares about himself and
5:06 am
so we're going to continue to keep our head down and run straight through the tape all the way through november 5th. >> the vice president is making that argument herself both that trump is unstable and the stakes have never been higher. let's take a listen to what she had to say just yesterday in michigan. >> and this is not 2016 or 2020. the stakes are even higher. because over the last eight years, donald trump has become more confused, more unstable, and more angry. and it is clear he has become increasingly unhinged. but the last time, at least there were people who could control him. but notice they're not with him this time. >> quentin, is this a preview of what we can expect to hear from the vice president tuesday in her speech at the ellipse? >> well, look, i think it's a part of it. i think that she's absolutely going to talk about donald
5:07 am
trump's deterioration and she's going to talk about how somebody who is running for president of the united states is talking about openly using the united states' military against its own citizens. he's calling america the garbage can of the world. this is somebody who's running for president of the united states. so of course the vice president is going to lay that out and deliver a very stark contrast that she is hopeful and optimistic about the future of the country. donald trump is still driven by chaos and wants to drive division within this country because that's his brand of leadership. but -- counter to that, the vice president is also going to make sure that he is laying out a new generation of leadership. a new way forward in this country. because that within itself is also a stark contrast with donald trump. is that he wants to take us back and drag us back to places that we've already been when he was president and unfortunately even long before back in times way way before many people who were voting today were even born. but the vice president has a different vision for this country. one that's driven by hope and optimism that everyone in

america can succeed and have a chance not just to get by but to get ahead. that's what you are going hear from the vice president as she makes her closing argument to the jury which we know is the american people. >> you know, quentin, this -- it struck me that last night, y'all were in kalamazoo or kamala-zoo as many people have been referring to it as. and there is new reporting from nbc that the campaign is hoping to offset what may be some losses of support from various base demographics in detroit and in places like dearborn with the suburbs. and so going to kalamazoo yesterday and then after the rally, governor whitmer and the vice president, they went to a brewery. a bar, where a local beer is made in kalamazoo. and they said at bar and they drank the beer and looked to have a really good time like i said retail politics going
5:09 am
there visiting with folks. y'all are looking at offset some of the losses with the suburbs and this -- what we saw last night is an example of that. yes, there's the beer, cheers. okay? talk to us just a little bit about this strategy. as it relates to the suburbs in michigan. and just -- the michigan writ large and how do you think you all are going to do in the state? >> well, look, it is going to be a close election and it's a battleground state. we don't look at it as much as offsetting losses and i have been on the show before with you all and i have talked about going to rural communities and rural places and suburban communities. and losing by less than -- you know, democrats traditionally do because it all adds up in the warble. but this -- at the end here is more about getting in front of everyone. and those voters in the suburbs like kalamazoo, they matter just as much as those base democratic voters you are referring to in flint and detroit. we are just simply trying to do it all here in the stretch.
5:10 am
there is wait looks like when you have a leader who say they want to be a president for everyone. that they're putting in the work. she's going to these places because she is showing through her actions even as she campaigns over these last ten days here, as of yesterday, that she's going to be a presidential for all americans and that means going to the belly of the beast where they are so they can see you. so they can -- hear from you. so they can tell you their concerns and that's what this president, vice president harris is doing. >> so quentin, to the young brothers in detroit and atlanta, and philly, baltimore, across the country. the young men who in this -- discussion around abortion seemingly have been detached from it by the right. you know, they got this bro culture you know. it's about the man. you know, the woman, we just need you to be quiet and pregnant. so the moment that for me was -- really one of the more profound moments and there were a few in michelle obama's speech, was this when she

profound moment. when she connected a lot of dots and wires and important -- conversations with men. and women. about what women go through. it's not just about being pregnant. it is about being a woman. and i just thought it was very important. how do you think that resonates? >> i mean, incredibly powerful. look, it's almost unfair of me that you all put -- put me after a clip like that to try to articulate it. there's honestly nothing that i can say. look, what i will plug is that you know, our campaign has been doing a lot to get the stories out there. as these rallies that i know are being broadcast on television now and on our -- you know, instagram and facebook pages when we are doing them. and we have victims of, you know,, you know, people who have been impacted by donald trump overturning roe. and these women who live in these states one in three women of reproductive age live in a state under abortion ban

just a few hours, donald trump will hold a rally at madison square garden in new york city. now you might be wondering why is donald trump campaigning in a solid blue state just phone line days before election day? -- nine days before election day? well, folks, there are at least six very competitive house races in the empire state and those races could determine the control of congress. five of those seats are currently held by republicans. joining us now to discuss it all is the governor of new york, kathy hochul. >> good morning to you governor. thank you so much for being here. okay. there are the close races and we're going to talk about those. there are also some additional reasons that donald trump is here. let me read you this from the "new york times." the question why is trump holding a rally at madison square garden? quote, it's a defiant gesture in a city that voted against him twice where he was convicted odd 34 felony counts in the business records case and ordered to pay several hundred million dollars in
5:49 am
penalties in a civil fraud case and found liable for sale abuse and defamation. his ego is among the reasons he is here and are you going to be at madison square garden? with him? >> i will not be at madison square garden although we'll make sure it's fully protected by his state police and nypd. so that's our responsibility. but i have another reason why i think he's coming here. i think he's waving the white flag of vender and he's coming back to a city he knows well. he's comfortable here. maybe he'd like to sleep in his own bed and as you get older you want that comfort of what you know. and i think given that all the interviews he's canceled and the rallies he's canceled. i mean, kamala harris is in pennsylvania today. she's in philadelphia. donald trump is coming back to his known familiar environment. and if he wants to stay here for nine days, i'll make sure he's got tickets to broadway and he can go see soft -- maybe that will help inspire him to do the right thing. but here's the thing. it means he's giving up. because why else would you come to new york city?
5:50 am
you are not going to find undecided voters walking the streets of manhattan today. but also has this affect which i think is fantastic. it's going to have a suppressant negative impact on those five republicans who are struggling for life right now. because they know they have done nothing for two years in congress. they've been an embarrassment and they rejected an immigration bill that president biden putforward along with other republicans. they said no. they could have solved this crisis. last the thing i think they want is the top of the ticket reminding everyone they're supporting antiwoman and anti- abortion and antiamerica -- candidate for top of the ticket. so i'm looking forward to it. bring it on. >> governor, i really appreciate the -- that and you know, make sure he has a little hot tea too because you know how the i woulderly sometimes -- elderly sometimes love the

little hot tea. >> warm blanket. >> right by the night stand. so i want to focus where you just left off because i think it's important. because it is -- it is one of the reasons why the congress looks the way it looks. what happened in the five congressional districts in new york. so to change the political landscape there, what's your sense on those races specifically? the efforts to flip them back so that the rest of the challenge for the gop is exposed? because their focus is we'll easily, you know, maintain our strength in those parts of new york. i -- i think it's delusional. but you are there. you are on the ground. how do those races stack up right now? relative to this control of congress conversation. >> we are doing very well here in the state of new york. and this is an intentional effort to have the new york state democratic party which was really an ineffective organization, most of my life. it was never given the resource
5:52 am
and you never had a governor that believed that had this could be a vehicle to help candidates from congress on down and i have. so i have been raising money. we've opened over 42 field offices in just six congressional districts. we've hired over 100 people from the state party, beyond what the candidates have to do themselves. we've had 4 million voter contacts and i was in the hudson valley yesterday and i'm leaving here to go to churches on long island to help our candidates. and there's an energy out there that has not been there before. and i'm so excited about this. so all of our candidates, they're high caliber experienced individuals against people who are basically coming out of a do nothing congress. and they have to wear that, they have to wear the fact that theyrefused to do anything on immigration and they have at the top of the ticket someone who the hostile to the interest of their voters. these are districts that joe biden has won before. this is not helpful to them to have donald trump come there and remind everybody, oh, yeah, he's -- they support donald
5:53 am
trump. and that's going to be to their detriment. so we're feeling good about those races. every single one of them. there will be pickups. i work with hakeem jeffries every day on this. we're working with kirsten gillibrand and chuck schumer and we know what we have to do in new york and i believe we'll aggressive. >> governor. in the new york elections prop 1 amendment is called the equal right rights act. you are backing the amendment. you have also -- you know, stepped in, you and your operation, to give a little more i think infrastructure to that. in the last couple of weeks. and these last nine days before election day. talk to us about those efforts and just the role that reproductive rights and protecting women's ability to make decisions about their own body is playing in this election. we've heard all week now frankly democratic candidates across the country, making reference to if in fact donald

trump is elected, and if republicans gain at least even one of -- control of one of the chambers, even in places like new york, women will not be safe. >> right. let's remember where new york started. we had the right to an abortion enshined in the state law. three years before roe versus wade. so this is something that was there from my mother's generation. was there for me. the same -- this right to determine what you want to do with your own body. that right is not there for my daughter and it better be there back for my granddaughter, let's look at the scale of this. what we have to do in this t state of new york that we didn't have to do before. when we -- before donald trump stacked the supreme court, intentionally, keeping the only promise he made that he kept which was he's going to make sure that we strip away the right to an abortion across the land. he succeeded in that. now even a state like new york which has a governor with every fiber of my being i'll protect the rights for women to have the right to choose or plan her family. i will protect that right.
5:55 am
but it goes -- if it's up to who's the governor, going forward in the future, this is something want to enshrine in our constitution because donald trump has created that fear. that anxiety. even in a place like new york. that if we don't enshrine this in our constitution, these rights could be stripped away with a national abortion ban. something that seems so far stretched just a couple of years ago and now that could be our reality. so we're building the firewall to make sure that kamala harris, president kamala harris, and she will be president, has a democratic house representative hold on to the senate and make sure that we push back all those efforts. but in the meantime, i'm going to protect new yorkers. and voters need to know that is the only thing that really matters on this proposition 1 is to get out there and flip over your ballot because it's on other side. don't forget about it. and do this not just for this generation, for generations to come. we have this opportunity to protect the rights even in a state like new york where i
