joy, when i see clips of kash patel saying things like, you know what? we're going to go after people who helped joe biden rig the election and we're going to go after them -- i don't know, criminally, civilly, we'll come up with something. first of all, to me, that sounds disqualifying and if you have a senate that cares about their advice and consent responsibilities they will refuse to confirm a guy like kash patel, but here's the other thing. he is going to have to enlist lots of people if he wants to vindictively go after donald trump's announced enemies. he's going to need corrupt prosecutors. he's going to need to pull the wool over the eyes of grand jurors who are to sit and assess the evidence. he's going to have to convince judges to go along with his sham investigations and prosecutions. he's going to be blocked every step of the way now. that's little consolation to the people whose lives he will up

security adviser under donald trump, john brennan under obama, pat cipollone, former white house counsel who testified against donald trump in the january 6th committee, he mentioned hillary clinton, kamala harris, eric holder, andrew mccabe, mark milley, peter strzok, robert mueller, of course, is on the enemy's list and mark esper, the former defense secretary who is the one who told donald trump you cannot shoot citizens in the leg, cassidy hutchinson, the brave young woman and braver than anybody who testified in the january 6th committee, she's on the list. so those senators are probably scared to death of getting on the list, as well. you know, i assume, have met kash patel. what do you make of this nomination and the clear terror that it is unleashing in washington? >> well, i think that these republican senators and everyone familiar with the name kash patel also know the danger that

he poses and that is because it is a well known thing in these inner circles by anyone who worked with kash. i worked with kash in the white house. i was mike pence's counter terrorism adviser. so i had to coordinate with kash a lot. kash patel is a delusional liar. let me be very clear about that and he would lie about intelligence. he would lie about making things up on operations. i think mark esper has talked about that, as well where he put the lives of navy s.e.a.l.s at risk in nigeria. these were things that were happening in real time, when he was in the role as ct coordinator in the white house, and i know this because at some point i realized that i needed to double-check kash's work to make sure that i wasn't misinforming mike pence by relying on his word so i had to go around him and this is a guy who openly has contempt for people in national security, for people especially at doj and the fbi. he'd make open comments, i think there is a little bit of fear

6th, of investigating fake conspiracy theories that kash patel apparently believes in, qanon, et cetera, how serious are they about doing that sort of thing in your reporting? >> i think they are very serious. the idea is democrats came after us and we'll come after them and even if the prosecutions or investigations don't end up concluding the way they want. for them that is not the purpose anymore and it's so that all sorts of people can't get to the january 6th jack smith's cases and the idea and they have to lawyer up and get dragged through grand juries and litigation battles in court. that is the idea and you can kind of see how this has metastasized over time because kash patel, yes, is loyal to trump and is ideologically aligned to trump and he's also ideologically aligned to people like steve bannon and mike davis and you played a lot of these clips at the top of the show, and i thought that was a really

we're getting a clearer picture of what kind of leader pete hegseth donald trump's choice for secretary of state would be from his own mother "the new york times" obtained a copy of an email she sent to her son during his acrimonious divorce from samantha dearing, his second wife after he had an affair and impregnated his co-worker jesse waters' show on fox. i have tried to keep quiet about

kind of manager hegseth has been and could be at dod. according to jane mayer who wrote the piece, a trail of documents corroborated by the accounts of former colleagues indicates that hegseth was forced to step down by both of the two non-profit advocacy groups he ran, veterans for freedom and concerned veterans for america in the face of serious allegations of financial mismanagement, sexual improp impropriety and sexual misconduct. as a triumph of neoconservatism and helped promote the troop surge in afghanistan was flagged for public intoxication on the job which led to multiple incidents. the detailed seven-page report which was compiled by multiple former employees and sent to the organization's senior management in february 2015 states that at one point hegseth had to be restrained while drunk from

joining dancers on the stage of a louisiana strip club where he had brought his team. according to the same report, under his leadership, the koch brothers-backed concerned veterans for america, had become a hostile workplace that ignored serious accusations of impropriety including an allegation made by a female employee that another staffer on hegseth's team attempted to sexually assault her at a louisiana strip club. hegseth's attorney declined to comment to nbc news. the trump transition team has not responded to our request for comment. nbc news and msnbc have not independently reviewed that report. in a separate letter another employee complained that hegseth was at a bar on an official tour in ohio, drunkenly chanting kill all muslims, kill all muslims. three sources told "the new yorker" that hegseth was forced to resign from cba under pressure in part because of concerns about his management and abuse of alcohol on the job.
