prosecution. if he doesn't play ball and he isn't the only trump ally breathing a sigh of relief, at least for now, federal prosecutors in manhattan have dropped a criminal probe that focused on whether former world wrestling entertainment boss vince mcmahon tried to cover up multiple allegations of sexual misconduct. those charges sound so familiar, don't they? i'm going to i'm going to noodle on it to see if i can recall what they're similar to. and it must be totally coincidental that mcmahon's wife, linda, is trump's choice for education secretary and will likely breeze through her confirmation hearings starting tomorrow. since every senate republican has been brought to heel like good doggies for fear of trump and his boss, elon's wrath. meanwhile, trump, musk inc. are still mowing down federal departments. we're hearing reports from states of money not arriving when it should, and we've now seen the first death attributed to the mauling of u.s. aid in the nation of myanmar. a 71 year old refugee

cemented an updated nasa contract, adding millions of dollars to its already massive deal with the space agency. and late today, news broke that tesla is forecast to win the largest state department contract of 2025 $400 million for armored teslas, according to procurement documents reviewed by drop site news. it's a periodic reminder that musk became the world's richest man, primarily through u.s. government contracts, which he now essentially has the power to award to himself, while also having the access to potentially put his competitors on the do not pay list. like i said, gangster government. and while all that is going on, the man ostensibly elected president, the guy forced to sit through elon, overtaking him in the oval while holding his toddler. you know, donald trump. remember him? he's been amusing himself, putting his big preschool sized magic marker signature on more and more executive orders, many

of them seemingly little more than passion projects of his that do nothing to bring down grocery prices or help everyday americans like, you know, establishing a task force to eradicate nonexistent anti-christian bias in a country where the supreme court keeps ruling that christians have the right to, you know, pray on the public school football field or refuse to bake cookies for or in cakes for gay couples, or cover birth control at their businesses. he's also ending the use of paper straws. yes, i promise that is a real executive order and renaming the gulf of mexico the gulf of america, which literally no one asked for and no other country has to go along with. despite apple and google groveling, taking the knee and updating their apps accordingly like this is the soviet union taking that last one very seriously to the point of his reality show administration retaliating against the associated press. barring its reporters from yesterday's oval office executive order signing, because the ap has not pulled a google maps and capitulated to his

billionaires aren't just running a department or getting favors or getting policies that they want, or even like a dropped sec investigation. no, no, he's running the whole thing. he's running the whole. and by the way, that is at the core of this, doj has been investigating his company's sec, multiple u.s. government agencies were investigating musk companies. that all goes away now. and he makes money at the same time he's canceling 900. was it 900 billion of 900 million of education, department of education money, all sorts of cuts. and yet, as you mentioned, a $38 million contract on monday. yeah. again, if i was in the writer's room in hollywood writing the trump second term, you would say that's unrealistic. we can't have that storyline where he gets 38 million. no, they're doing it. >> and the question is when will somebody call for an audit of what they're doing? because they're saying, well, we're being transparent because we're putting this online, but they've reduced donald trump in this gangster movie to fredo corleone, right? he's the fredo in this. he's not in charge. but there's also a sort of core of gangsterism that feeds into what trump loves to do bullying fbi agents. yes. terrifying them. right. making eric adams essentially a puppet in the

state. hostage. he's a hostage at this point and doing the same across the board. how is this being looked at around the country? because he is acting more like vladimir putin, sounding like vladimir putin cutting weird deals, you know, to essentially say, hey, ukraine, you're going to have to give up, you know, your country in the war. there's a gangsterism to it as well. >> look, great minds think alike. i've been saying all week, and i'm glad you led the show in this way, that this is the mob boss analogy is the best analogy. donald trump, of course, in the 70s and 80s, was allegedly tied to lots of mob bosses during his real estate empire building in new york and beyond. and, you know, he had lawyers who worked with mob bosses, etc. he does like that approach. you know, you, you know, you intimate what needs to be done. you nudge it away. you don't put stuff on paper. you get stuff done through threats, bullying or just flattery. right? you saw that with the king of jordan, right? and people understand how to operate around the mob boss. and globally, i think, look, this is a real problem for the united states of america. whatever he gets done in the short term, he's had these kind of short term wins that he's going on

about long term, medium term. it's a disaster for american alliances. the european union knows that america is not there for the eu, whether it's rallying with putin or anything else. the canadians now know they're booing a woman in a wheelchair singing the national anthem. that's how much canada has turned on the united states. if i'm china, i'm loving this right, because all these alliances are falling apart. every time he goes after another country in south america or africa. if i'm the chinese, i'm calling them up to say, do you really trust the americans? and it's not just about trump, right? remember, our system has this. we've now had, what, three changes of government in three different elections? unprecedented. you can't even rely on america's word because whatever happens, he can tear up whatever biden did before him and vice versa. so it is a real problem. you've got the danes panicking about greenland, the eu military chief, the military chief of the european union said. should we put eu troops in greenland for america, not because they're worried about china, russia, for the united states? i never thought that would happen in my lifetime. an astonishing statement. >> i mean, you recently interviewed the foreign minister of south africa. i mean, we in the continent, people that i talked to, i have relatives there that are there partly laughing at the united states,

and they're partly horrified at what we've become because they've said, you've become what you always characterized us as, that you essentially now have a mobutu style government, not a government. anyone would want to do business with a government that isn't esteemed anymore. that is seen as sort of a joke. i mean, we're sending the tv weekend host from fox over as our defense secretary, and we're, you know, having our transportation run by the guy from the real world, boston. the world can see this. yeah. it's visible. >> and as you mentioned, you've got linda mcmahon from wwe about to be education secretary. >> well, trump is sort of entertaining himself with the cabinet. he's like, i just want to be entertained by the people i love. >> this is what america voted for, not cheaper eggs. they voted for entertaining cabinet of billionaires. it's a real problem. and i think i think it's going to really, really hurt the us in the medium to long run, if not the short run. we are three weeks in. god help us. it feels like three. >> years, three years. >> but but let's just let's just put this in perspective. i'm not one of these people who thinks this guy is impregnable, inevitable, infallible. we've

they really don't like the idea of diversity and inclusion, and it really it angers them. i mean, elon musk has made that statement before. what they so that seems to be something that they're willing to allow in our government. right. but my question is, okay, you all don't care if somebody isn't diverse. do you care if they're self-dealing? elon musk, a silicon valley person, he had contracts currently with 12 agencies for roughly $15 billion. that's in funding in the last decade. he has new contracts, apparently with nasa for spacex. he just may have gotten a $400 million contract with the department of state. while he's gutting those departments for everyone else and for the poor, cutting aid to poor people. who's auditing this? >> well, that's. >> why we wanted him to come before the oversight committee. i mean, he doesn't have to do financial disclosures. i don't understand it. every member of congress has to do financial disclosures. everything in our

would you look at medicare advantage fraud? or would you look at the pharmaceutical companies that are ripping off medicare? and president biden had the guts after many, many years to actually go after them and negotiate. this is a farce. it's a cultural issue. it's a cultural war that they're they're waging, going after programs that are helping africans who are dying of malaria, dying of aids, which george w bush had the moral conscience to help. that's what they're going after. >> let me ask you this, because we know that there is fraud and abuse. we know that rick scott, the current senior senator from florida, his former company, and he claimed to know nothing about it when he was ceo, committed record medicare fraud. i mean, it was the largest medicare and medicaid and tricare fraud in the history of the united states. his company, this is before florida decided to make him governor and then senator. he pretended he didn't know anything. he said he didn't know anything about it. so that happens, right? but that's not what they're they're going after. to your point, the pentagon is definitely bloated.

we all remember the stories growing up about the, you know, the $50 hammers, right. have you seen any evidence that these computer programmers are looking at that kind of stuff? >> no, they haven't started with that. and that's why initially i wrote an op ed at msnbc, senator warren, senator sanders, we said, okay, here are the places to start. start looking. here are the places you can cut. and we're willing to give you an open hearing, because the democrats actually have been the ones railing against this wasteful spending. we're the ones who've been railing against the fraud on medicare advantage, on on medicare, because we're the ones who want medicare for all. and he didn't take us up on that. instead, he hires these folks to stop payments, stop payments for medicaid for a few hours. and then we start hearing about these cuts to programs of helping kids in africa, cuts to cancer funding, research cuts to the department of education that funds schools in working class neighborhoods, by the way, largely in trump districts. >> yeah. let me play for you what what elon musk said in his

know, to the office, they still work. and they were much more efficient, by the way. so now donald trump, because there's something about being in the building, i guess wants everybody back at the office. so on top of that, you think they're going to just work longer hours and not get paid the overtime or not get again, this is all very stupid. and i think if we at one level start recognizing that they're throwing everything out there because donald trump wants them to, there is no plan here other than the idea that we're going to downsize government. we're going to cut back on, on on expenses, we're going to enrich elon musk, we're going to enrich other billionaires. and we're not we're not really caring about the fact that, as you reported a moment ago, that someone died because the oxygen that they needed to survive, that was brought to them by

state of new york, as well as governor kathy hochul and the state's attorney general, letitia james, for allegedly failing to enforce federal immigration law and warning other states that if they don't comply, quote, you're next. bondi was also asked about another new york official not mentioned as part of that lawsuit. new york city mayor eric adams. >> i was. >> curious to see what things have been like out of new york city and denver officials. >> yeah. >> well, we're. >> hoping that in new york. >> mayor adams. >> is going. >> to cooperate. >> with us, with the. >> sanctuary cities and the illegal aliens. >> this comes just days after the doj ordered prosecutors to drop the bribery and corruption charges against mayor adams, claiming that the charges were hindering his ability to carry out trump's draconian immigration agenda. yesterday, adams delivered remarks thanking the justice department for its honesty, saying, now we can put this cruel episode behind us and focus entirely on the future of our city. but even if those charges get dropped, which they

haven't been yet, adams is still facing a tough reelection campaign as he's up against dwindling poll numbers and several primary challengers. we were hoping to talk to new york city mayoral candidate michael blake, but there are technical issues. so back with me is michael steele. thanks for jumping back in to fill in. i want to talk about this because pam bondi, in her confirmation hearings, claimed that there will be no retribution coming out of the justice department. no enemies list, nothing like that. but now suddenly she's going after letitia james, who just happens to have won a very big civil case against donald trump such that he owes $500 million to the to the state of new york. your thoughts? >> well, you know, when they open their mouth, they're lying. >> so that's that's. >> everything coming out of this administration. pam bondi included. you cannot trust this justice department to bring justice. that's the only justice they're looking for is for donald trump. and so mayor adams bought into that. he bent the knee down at mar-a-lago. now

he's got a clean deck. he still has to account to new york voters. that's going to be his his little, you know, problem. now there's some conversations, conversations reporting that he may decide to run as a republican because, damn it, the most important thing i can ever do in my life is to hold office, right? i guess he wants it that much. >> yeah. >> but all of this, all of this out of the justice department, we just need to start warming up and stockpiling it because there's more to come. joy, this is all. this is all about retribution. what did donald trump say when he announced his election? >> i, richard retribution. and he really meant i'm my retribution. he's his own retribution. and the thing is, is that yes, it is all about retribution. but for eric adams, he needs to stay in office in order to stay out of prison because these charges were filed. right? they were filed without prejudice, meaning that they could come back. if he doesn't do as he's told, he has to be good doggy and do what he's told and what he what they

want done is for in this biggest city, which is one of the three cities with the most immigrants. and now i'm speaking to you, my brother. as a catholic, there is a principle of loving the immigrant and caring for the immigrant. and new york enshrined that in its sanctuary city law. he has already told his staffers, don't criticize trump, and he's essentially told schools let ice in, even though that violates the sanctuary city laws in the state of new york. essentially isn't eric adams now because he has to behave. going to allow ice to raid schools, hospitals, mosques, churches. >> of course he is. what alternative alternative does he have? because the sword over his head is what donald, what pam bondi and donald trump have put in front of him, which is you be a good boo and we take care of you. you're not. guess what? we feed you back to the justice department. wolves and the state of new york will, you know, the courts that will be allowed to go after you. and so that's his reality. and look, at the end of

the day, the work that has to go on on behalf of human beings who are caught in the crosshairs of our immigration system, cannot be diminished because of the politics or because of a particular policy. at the end of the day, end of the day, all these good little christian boys and girls out here who like to beat their breast about about that aspect of christ teaching, you have to live up to the words. and that's not what we see here. so those institutions, the church, individuals, organizations will continue to look out and care for those folks. the mayor has to deal with the political problem of his own making, and that is he decided not to stand with with the least of these, but to stand with the guy who wants to do the most to those that he can. >> i will note the new york daily news reports that donald trump has revoked $80 million from new york city after a threat to claw back fema money, fema money that they are owed. speaking of money that they're

owed, we didn't get to talk about this in the last segment. i wanted you to end on the idea that it looks like what donald trump and company and his doge doggy, whatever we're calling them, they're looking to gut medicaid. new york gets a lot of medicaid, but red states get much, much more. states like louisiana really probably couldn't make it without federal help. red states get more medicaid. and what do you make of the fact that it looks like they're going to try to gut medicaid to make room for their giant tax cut for the super rich? >> well. >> that look, about a year from now and that squeal you'll be hearing will be from red states, california, new york, maryland, states that have made adjustments and can make adjustments with their budgets. yes, tight. probably painful, but they will figure it out. but states that that actually receive those benefits at a greater volume than new york, for example, they will pay a real price. >> yeah, they're going to pay the price. and that's what they voted for. michael steele, thank you very much. a lot of people
