why would that be? basically, it's all about the rich getting richer and the middle class and the poor footing the bill, even down to cutting one of the most significant safety nets in u.s. history today. trump went on his social media site to endorse the republican house budget plan, which would make deep cuts to medicaid. he's going after medicaid despite promising he would never do so, a promise he made literally only a half a day ago on fox. he's going after medicare and farmers to schools, teachers, veterans for their closed circuit of maga fans. they are letting them think they're saving them money. but what's really happening is that republicans are jamming through a tax cut for that poor, a tax cut for rich people that poor people and veterans are going to have to pay for. and despite their promises, republicans continue to ignore the majority of their own voters and focus only on the rich ones. it's the republican way. and one might call it gangster capitalism. joining me now is michael steele, co-host of the weekend and the former chair of the

corruption charges against new york city mayor eric adams. following a hearing this afternoon. returning to the courtroom for donald trump, but in a different capacity, was his former personal lawyer in the new york hush money case. emil bove, now the acting deputy attorney general. besides the role change, what was also unusual was that bove was the only representative for the doj in that courtroom. perhaps he couldn't get another prosecutor to join him, because so many resigned in protest over the motion to dismiss, including the acting u.s. attorney for the southern district of new york, danielle sassoon, who resigned, saying the rescission of the charges against adams amounted to a quid pro quo. bovey couldn't even get the prosecutors that he reportedly strong armed to sign the motion to join him in court. he repeated his past claims that the motion is justified because the charges interfere with adams duties as mayor, specifically assisting trump on immigration issues, and were the result of political weaponization against the mayor. it's just another
