all the animals that have been released from an exotic animal farm have been accounted for. unfortunately with nearly all having been shot dead by authorities. now that the hunt is over officials can focus on why the owner freed the animals then took his own life. nbc's andy roachen reports. >> reporter: 48 animals were doomed when they were set free. as frantic calls started coming in -- there are. >> there is a lion on mt. perry road. >> they were on the move. they were showing aggressive behavior. >> reporter: the animals includes wolves, bears, monkeys, leopards and what hurt the most for famed zookeeper jack hanna, 18 bengal tigers. >> 18 bengal tigers running

around the neighborhoods, you wouldn't want to see what happens. >> reporter: he said there was no way to round them up. >> the sheriff did the right thing. >> reporter: authorities say terry thompson had plenty of complaints about his animals over the past decade including animal cruelty. after he set them free he disables them so they could not be used again then he committed suicide. >> i honestly believe he didn't feel like he needed to live any longer. and it's sad if -- >> reporter: authorities never saw a suicide note so we don't know if it was his final act of kindness or cruelty. andy rochen, nbc news. a senate vote could come on portions of the president's jobs bill that was voted down as a whole last week. yesterday the president wrapped up a three-day bus tour pushing

his legislation to put americans back to work. nbc's tracie potts joins us with more on this. good morning. >> reporter: hi, lynn. good morning, everyone. we expect them to vote on the grants to save over 400,000 jobs. police, firefighters, teachers, president obama has been pitching this on his bus tour and yesterday criticized the republican alternative which requires cleaning the environment and policies he says are lax on wall street. they say this is just a temporary fix. it would be paid for with a half percent tax on millionaires. republicans say millionaires are the people who create jobs. if you force them to pay washington more they won't hire anyone. the question, will this pass? it's tricky. if it passes it will be close. what may pass much more likely is a payroll tax cut for

businesses, republicans say they'll support that. those with payrolls up to $5 million would get a break on half their payroll taxes. >> last night on "hardball with chris matthews," chris asked robert reich to weigh in on a jobs plan that he put together and we i believes it's american. >> we are optimistic. we don't allow 25 million people to look for work or 14 million to be unemployed. this is not american way and not patri patriotic. when i look at the occupiers and i see and ask myself what's the moral foundation of what they stand for, what they stand for is that we are all in the same boat. it's not about a bunch of individuals out for each other. we care about each other and make sure the benefits of this country are spread widely enough we can all gain something out of it. and opportunity is genuinely

some of the other news. dozens have been left homeless in the wake of three tornados that hit southern florida. the storm system wreaked havoc along the state's coast and even produced one tornado that left a trail of property damage more than a mile long. heavy winds bashed the windy city high and low blowing out chicago high-rise windows and whipping up massive waves along the lake michigan shoreline. 60-mile-per-hour left some closings behind. heavy rain and floodwaters have been producing and breeding grounds for super size mosquitoes in central florida. the invasion of the blood sucking insects is causing some concern to their aggression and size which is three times larger than typical mosquitoes.

population down and don't have to worry about it till next spring or summer. right now the wins are cranking. yesterday we saw just another heavy rain event come under the eastern seaboard and stalled over toledo, ohio. now the storm system is just about at its weaks and overnight winds gusting as high as 50 miles per hour. the rain is in green. indianapolis, cool there for you and louisville back up towards chicago, maybe just light rain for you. the steadier heavier rains are in northern michigan. much as a chance of showers but steady rains are over. high wind information, the blue is where we're dealing with wind advisories. don't expect a lot of damage but where you have the light blue along the chicago area around lake shore also we had some earlier today around saginaw, that's where we have high wind warnings in effect. that's because you get the air

coming over the lake and there's nothing to block it. no trees. flat surface, the winds will be higher. the case this morning. 37 in chicago, saginaw gusting now to 43 so those are impressive gusts. leaves on the tree, that's where we could get downed tree limbs. a breezy day today but not like our friends dealing with it in the great lakes. showers, a few around buffalo and we'll have a little in the catskills and maybe drizzle from new york city to hartford but that will be about it. our friends are very cold. 32 in kansas city, this storm has a little bit of everything. it's warm out ahead of it from d.c. to new york but the chilled air in back here. after that is gone it looks like we're in a nice treat. a rare slip by apple who is trying to gobble up yahoo! and the most add surdly luxurious

welcome back to "first look." i'm lynn berry. saying probation is a gift not a right yesterday a los angeles judge revehicled lindsay lohan's for repeated violations. chris clackum has the story. >> reporter: lindsay lohan had to make another court appearance wednesday. she had violated the terms of her probation for stealing a

necklace from a jewelry store and the judge was not happy. >> i am revoking her probation. pending a hearing. i am also setting bail at $100,000. >> reporter: the same judge who sentenced her last may included 60 days of community service over the next year said lohan was not progressing towards completing that sentence. >> a year is a generous amount of time and the way i can count, she's got 57 out of those 60 days left to do. >> reporter: her attorney made the same request she made before. another chance. >> the court is correct that we're six months into it so we're six months away from her deadli deadline. >> reporter: the judge stuck by her decision to revoke her probation although the actress posted bail and will not spend any time behind bars between now and her next hearing november 2nd. chris clackum, nbc news. time now for your first look at entertainment news. the prosecution's last witness
