breaking news. new york city police in riot gear went to occupy wall streelt. authorities dismantled tents ordering them to vacate the park temporarily along with personal plongs. handed out letters saying the park poses an increasing health and fire safety hazard. at least 70 have been arrested and the park has been fully cleared. the i am prom teu park cleaning is on the heels of similar moves in cities across the country and days ahead of the movement two-month anniversary on thursday. for the first time since being indicted for sexually abusing eight boys, penn state's former coach jerry san did you say si is speaking out about the charges against him. he insists he's not a pedophile. nbc's michelle franzen has more. >> in an exclusive phone interview on rock center, jerry sandusky, the former penn state assistant football coach charged with 40 counts of child abuse told bob costas he's innocent.

>> i say that i am innocent of those charges. >> innocent? completely innocent and falsely accused in every aspect? >> well, i could say that, you know, i have done some of those things. i have horsed around with kids. i have showered after workouts. i have hugged them and i have touched their leg. without intent of sexual contact sthiemt one of the allegations in the indictment stems from testimony from assistant coach mike mcqueary. in 2002, the then graduate assistant says he witnessed sandusky with a boy in the locker room and told his supervisor. he's now on paid administrative leave and facing criticism he didn't do enough. last week, in an e-mail obtained exclusively by nbc news, the former penn state qb told friends and former teammates "i did the right thing.

perry in a nosedive, as a familiar face surges to the top tier of gop candidate. i'm steve handelsman, nbc news washington. the supreme court announced it will hear arguments on challenges to the healthcare law in march, in the thick of the election campaigns. in a departure from the one hour allotment. the high court set aside five hours for the arguments in the case. brian mooar has details >> the supreme court agreed to hear a challenge of president obama's healthcare law. a constitutional challenge that will be decided in the middle of the 2012 election campaign. >> it's going to have political ramifications as well as legal ramifications. it's one of the big cases of history. >> the central question? can congress force americans to buy health insurance. >> for the first time in 200 years, congress is requiring every american to either buy a

product, in this case health insurance, or pay a fine. if this mandate is upheld, what is off limits? what under the constitution can congress not require each of us to purchase? >> how far did congress reach? >> the supreme court for years has upheld various forms of insurance requirements, social security is a form of old age insurance. >> the obama administration requested the review from the high courts. >> we're confident that the law is constitutional, will be upheld at constitutional. >> supporters hope hesitant states and healthcare companies will get in line if the court upholds the law. >> i think that they will find the individual responsibility provision constitutional, but if they don't, i don't think it is going to have a major impact on the other provisions of the health reform legislation. >> a landmark showdown over a landmark law. brian mooar, nbc news, washington. here's your first look at some of the other news going on around america today. according to city officials i

national weather, we turn to nbc meteorologist bill karins with the weather channel forecast. there's no place like home. >> i can't believe they're up for auction. they should be in the smithsonian or a museum. >> what would you do with those? >> hold on to them to resell them again, i guess. that's probably what people doing. i don't know. good morning everyone. amazing weather this morning. i am talking temperatures. i mean, when you walk out the door this morning, you'll feel it on the eastern seaboard. it almost feels like the middle of the summer type morning. humidity is up. temperatures are mild. yesterday, by the way, was a very warm day. 73 in washington, d.c. we were 78 in atlanta. this is probably, if you look at this map, the warmest temperatures across the country probably until the spring. because cold air is on the way. we're beating the clock here and sooner or later things will change. we're watching the colder air coming into montana. it's going to arrive this week. we still have mild air. i mentioned, it's 65 to start your morning in washington, d.c.

you do not need the coat. you'll need the um brael later but not the coat. same in boston and new york. very strange as you walk outside. as far as the rain goes, a lot of areas will have light rain or showers today, including areas like boston, new york, philadelphia, d.c. you're not going to see a lot of rain. some areas may be totally dry. that's where you're going to get showers. the steadier rains are through southern ohio, west virginia, kentucky. back into areas of tex tech. that's where we'll watch the potential of severe thunderstorms. severe thunderstorm watch goes from laredo, outside of san antonio. the storms will move over the top. if you're in san antonio, you have a chance of a few strong storms, gusty winds and small hail. up around arkansas to kentucky over the areas of the ohio river, this is just a shield of light rain from little rock all the way up to louisville. much of the state of kentucky is going to have a damp morning commute. that rain kind of dries up a little bit over the state of pennsylvania.
