begin with a giant win. the new york giants defeated the new england patriots last night at the super bowl in indianapolis. of course it was on nbc. it was a thrilling game that wasn't decided until the game's very last play. here's nbc's mario solis. four years ago, the giants made a remarkable catch and late touchdown to beat the patriots to win the super bowl. last night it was deja vu all over again. super bowl xlvi went down to the wire, giants late in the fourth. that sets up this, ahmad bradshaw untouched for the go-ahead score with under a minute to play. giants rally once again to beat the pats in super bowl xlvi, 21-17. much more on the giants super bowl win ahead in sports. for now, back to you, lynn. >> mario, thanks. mitt romney hopes to keep his winning streak aleph as the

worker arrived with his two young sons. later, the house exploded. >> we believed he intentionally schedule the fire. >> reporter: this is the latest twist in the two-year long saga. susan powell was reported missing in 2009. her husband had told detectives he had taken their 2 and 4-year-old sons camping. detectives could never disprove or corroborate his story. he became a person of interest in the case. for months on end searchers combed the powell's utah neighborhood, even isolated desert areas, hoping to find any trace of the 28-year-old mother. her husband's family told investigators and press that susan may have run off with another man. but her family called those accusations ludicrous, saying she'd never leave her children. last september, josh powell's

father, steven, was arrested on several charges, including vowierism and child pornography. following that arrest, custody of the powell children who had been living in the same house as steven powell was given to susan's parents. just days ago, a judge denied josh powell's attempt to regain custody of the children. now a tragic end with no real answers and a community and family in mourning. francis koe, nbc news. >> just a horrible story there. here is your "first look" at some of the other news going on around america today. it is hard to believe no one was seriously hurt after a small plane crashed into a montana home. three people were aboard. witnesses say the plane hit some trees before slamming into the house. the homeowner was there at the time but everyone walked away from the crash. in wisconsin, a propane explosion was all captured on video. >> oh, my god. >> it happened at a propane facility near madison after a

truck driver filling his tanker had a malfunction which caused the hose to break loose. the blast shook the ground for miles around. thankfully no one there was hurt. in california, a car dealership left the motor running on a toyota camry and left it alone. probably not a smart idea. a man was walking by and took full advantage, making sure no one was around before he just took off with the car. the police chased the man until he crashed and kept going for another block until he was captured. finally, proof that even black magic couldn't save the new england patriots last night. a group of witches in where else, salem, massachusetts, tried to cast a victory spell on the team. they even had an inflatable tom brady watching over them. in the end, only the giants had the winning spirit or spirits. was that look the snooki witch? did you see her with the poof? good morning, todd santos.
