last night on the ed show, massachusetts congressman barney frank told ed that government agencies need to be able to stop price manipulation. >> tld it was only when we passed the financial reform bill over the virtual unanimous opposition of the republicans that we gave the commodities future commission and security exchange commission the power to act here. one of the things that the cftc did was to limit the amount of oil that you can buy. we're talking about people who buy oil who don't touch it, who don't come near it, they buy it for the sole purpose of market manipulation. they buy to keep it off the market until the price goes up and then they can sell it again. these are people who wouldn't know a can of oil from a can of beans. what we said was you've got to stop buying up this oil and driving up the price. unfortunately, the securities industry to its great discredit went to court and is trying to get that thrown out. >> be sure to watch the ed show
