a new york woman shatters the record for world's oldest yoga teacher. good morning, everyone. i'm lynn berry. those stories and more are straight ahead had. this is "first look" on msnbc. and we're going to it begin this morning with "in the hot seat." jamie dimon faces stack holders today for the first time since admitting jpmorgan chase lost billions. nbc's tracie potts joins us from washington with the details on this. good morning. >> reporter: lynn, some analysts are saying that dimon is unlikely to lose his job because, despite what's going on with the company right now, he's been considered a near-genius on wall street and many investors won't want to navigate this without him. today jpmorgan chase ceo jamie

dimon faces shareholders for the fist time since admitting risky hedging led to a $2 billion loss. >> we're still going to earn a lot of money this quarter. it isn't like the company is jeopardized. >> reporter: but his job could be. on the agenda, whether to split the company's chair and ceo. right now dimon holds both. elizabeth warren, a massachusetts senate candidate, who designed the consumer financial protection bureau says dimon should give up his board seat at new york's federal reserve. >> this is about accountability. at some point you have to be accountable and you have to say, you don't get to be in a position of public trust when you engage in practices that you yourself describe as sloppy and stupid. >> reporter: the bank has lost over 12% of its value in just five days, but analysts say it will survive. >> it's 1/1,000th of this bank it's $2 billion. doesn't mean a thing.

they'll earn something like 15 billion tsdz to $20 billion this ye year. >> reporter: president obama emphasized this time taxpayers weren't left holding the bag. >> you could have a bank not as strong not as profitable making those same bets and we may have had to step in. >> reporter: the senate banking committee here on capitol hill were already looking into wall street reform, now adding jpmorgan chase to their agenda. >> last night on "the rachel maddow show," elizabeth warren told rachel, in her view, the jpmorgan chase fiasco shows there's still no real government control over risky practices at big banks. >> the problem now is that jpmorgan has had to admit that, wow, it really did take on a whole lot of risk and that it really got bitten by that risk.

but it still wants to hold off any form of regulation. so that's what it leaves us with. it leaves us in a situation where, what we know for sure, is there is no regulator really looking over the shoulder of these big financial institutions. there's no cop on the beat to say, wait a minute, you can't take those kinds of risks, especially if you plan to leave the american taxpayer holding the bag. that's just the world we live in right now. the banks are still in charge of their own risk practices, and that's dangerous for all of us. >> weeknights at 9:00 eastern, "the rachel maddow show" on msnbc. well, people are talking about the issue of same-sex marriage particularly since president obama's announcement that he now supports it. a "new york times"/cbs news poll found 67% of those surveyed thought the president made that decision mostly for political

decisions. only 24% said it was mostly because he thinks it is right. the poll also found 38% believe gay couples should be allowed to marry, 24% supported same-sex civil unions, and 33% say there should be no legal recognition. same-sex marriage is sure to remain a critical issue in 2012's race for the white house. brian mooar reports. >> reporter: at a campaign fund-raiser of gays and lesbians in new york, president obama described but didn't dwell on his thoughts about same-sex marriage. >> it doesn't weaken families. it strengthens marriage. >> reporter: it has everyone talking for a second straight week, a new battle front in the 2012 presidential race. "newsweek" has declared president obama the first "gay" president. over the weekend, mitt romney

going to meet children for sexual enkournlts. instead, there were undercover officers waiting. police say it shows the battle against online predators is far from over. one of the suspects allegedly brought his own child to the home. in illinois, a school bus full of children slammed into the back of a big rig. the bus driver and a student were seriously hurt. ten other kids suffered minor injuries in the crash along interstate 55. the fifth and sixth it graders were headed back from a field trip to the state capitol. in georgia, this is fascina fascinating, a wallaby is being given treatment usually reserved for humans. eye chiropractor it hoping to save the animal. it's believed the wallaby got injured after running into a fence. it's being fitted with a brace. and, finally, also remarkable, in new york, a 93-year-old woman has been declared the world's oldest yoga

a break, even some smien, then more storms, justs a very humid air mass out there from the carolinas through virginia, all the way up into new england. just a light rain continues now all the way up through vermont, new hampshire and maine. let's focus on the worst. if you're triefing on i-905, north virginia around fredericksburg, this is pouring rain, red and orange is downpours, now pushing into the greater washington, d.c., area. if you're heading out in d.c., from now probably until about 6:30 or so, you're going to get caught in the middle of this. that means a very slow commute around the beltway and everywhere around d.c. baltimore, it looks like the heavier rains are out on 70. it looks like some of that will miss you up to the north so that's good. i think the rain to the south has another half hour to 45 minutes until the heavy stuff moves your way. if you're wondering about philadelphia, just some showers for you right now. new york city actually looks pretty good. i think you'll get through the heart of rush hour with minor wet weather. the heavier rains in new york should come midmorning to the noon hour. as far as the east goes, that's

use rocket. the dow opens at 12,695 after dropping 125 points yesterday. the s&p fell 15, the nasdaq tumbled 31. taking a look overseas, in tokyo, the nikkei lost 73 points but in hong kong the hang seng added 159. well, an agreement between opposing political parties in greece is looking increasingly unlikely. more talks are scheduled today, the country's leftist leader vows to oppose any bailout. that has global investors worried greece could back out on its debt payment and drop the eurozone currency, driving up lending. that debt drama and the $2 billion blunder by jpmorgan helped push town the stocks. eurozone fears continue to spill over onto oil crisis, which fell

this morning. after the closing bell, groupon shot up after posting its quarterly profit. the stock already closed nearly 20% higher in regular trade. elsewhere, coty withdrew their offer to buy avon saying the deadline has past. best buy's founder is stepping down as chairman after an investigation revealed he knew the company's ceo was having a relationship with a female employee. yahoo! ticked 3% higher on the resignation of its ceo amid a resume padding scandal. chesapeake energy add ed some. ahead of facebook's ipo this week, the company will reportedly raise its price range from $28 to $35 per share to $34 to $38. and if you're skeptical

welcome back to "first look." i'm lynn berry. in sports last night, the sixers fought off a late-game surge by the celtics tying their series at 1-1. here's nbc's fred roggin. >> good morning. the sixers are not your typical eighth seed after knocking out the shorthanded bulls, the philly has home field advantage from the celtics. celts up one, holiday from downtown and philly grabbed the lead with under two minutes to play. ray allen for three, got it. celts back on top. but the lead was short-lived. evan turner drove and got the tough of lay-up to fall. the youngsters got it done, held on to win 82-81. in a close game to an absolute blowout,ed thunder rolled the lakers, up 15 at the half, ran the lakers out of the building. oklahoma city dominated every facet of the game and humiliated l.a. by 29, 119-nintd. miami's big three is now
