government. secretary of state, hillary clinton, says the delivery of those helicopters quote will escalate the conflict quite dramatically. she wants russian president, vladimir putin, to stop the helicopter shipment. amateur video appeared to show heavy shelling in homs, a day after monitors said syrian attack helicopters fired at stronghold there is. in moscow, tens of thousands took to the streets to protest against president putin for the first time since he retook the office last month. they denounced the government for rounding up opposition leaders on monday. back at home, wildfires are raging out of control in parts of the west as tireless crews faceinds and parched terrain. in a few days, the high park fire in colorado has mushroomed to a 68-square-mile spans of smoke and flames that killed one

person and engulfed more than 100 structures. officials say it's only 5% contained. a state of emergency emergency has been declared in new mexico where a fire has destroyed 200 homes. a second day of testimony in the child sex abuse trial of former penn state football coach, jerry sandusky. it was marked by tears and more disturbing testimony. nbc's brian mooar reports from pennsylvania. >> reporter: day two of the jerry sandusky child sex abuse trial wrapped up with bombshell testimony from one-time graduate student, mike mcqueary. he is the only third-party witness to sandusky's alleged crimes. he told the court he caught his coaching mentor and a boy in a locker room shower. he heard a skin on skin slapping soud and caught a glimpse of sandusky and a preteen boy for a second or two.

he told his father and later penn state coach joe paterno. >> he's a very convincing witness. he's very clear, he's very sharp and he's very confident. >> mcqueary was barred from telling the jury what paterno said, because the legendary coach died in january and his statements are now legal hearsay. the day began with a distraught 18-year-old known as victim number one, describing what he said was his first sexual encounter with sandusky. i froze, he said, my mind was telling me to move. but i couldn't do it. i couldn't move. he wasn't yet 13. and testified that sandusky seemingly innocent touching escalated into repeated sexual contact. >> when you start adding these victims together, we start to get a whole complete package and each victim reinforces the other. >> reporter: under persistent questioning, the witness broke down again. admitting he didn't tell the truth, because he was afraid and ashamed. a social worker verified the young man's account.

maritime history. the ships were scheduled to arrive in baltimore this morning. now let's get a check of the national weather with nbc meteorologist bill karins. he has your wet weather forecast. >> that's a lot of w's. very good. the rain is going to be moving out this morning. i think it's going to be a decent afternoon in new england. this morning you're in it. light rain to steady rain now moving out through long island. all of coastal connecticut. even portions of massachusetts are dealing with light rain this morning. chilly temperatures, too, many areas in 50s or 60s, a gloomy slow drive from 95, all of rhode island is getting filled in with rain and soon out on cape cod. not many rainy spots in the country this morning. that's one of the other bad areas is coming down out of north texas. some nasty thunderstorms just from the wichita falls areas southward. these are heading in the general direction of dallas and fort

worth. we'll wait to see how it times out. as of now it looks like during the peak of the rush hour this could be over the top of especially fort worth. these storms are heading towards the weatherford area. we'll see if they hold together as we go throughout the next hour or two. as far as the forecast the rest of the country i mentioned it's a quiet morning. it's a beautiful morning in the ohio valley, much of the southeast has cleared out nicely, the cold front is pushing through, the drier air has moved in. it's a touch chilly in the portions of the northern great lakes, where temperatures are in the 30s and 40s in a few spots. a little bit of light rain heading through south dakota into areas of southern minnesota. in general, many areas of the west coast are dry. your forecast today, the rain is over in new york city, that's good, should see some sunshine this afternoon after a cloudy start. and the rain will eventually be exiting out of southern new england. this southeast you look okay today in atlanta, it's going to clouds will linger along the coastal areas of the carolinas and florida will deal with

here's nbc's fred roggin. good morning, lebron james may be the mvp, but kevin durant proved once again why he is the scoring champ. game one of the nba finals in oklahoma city. miami riding high from their victory over the celts, kept it going against the thunder. knocked down six three-pointers in the first half. they also forced turnovers. lebron james with two of his 30. miami up by 13. thunder cut the lead to seven at the barack. durant over chris bosh. a sign of things to come. okc looked like a different team in the second half. russell westbrook, the lay-up and the foul, the thunder with the first lead of the game. kevin durant took over in the fourth. off the turnover, coast to coast in the jam. thunder ran away with game one, 105-94. best team in baseball just locked down one of their best players, signing andre edhier to a $5 million extension. the yanks grabbed the lead with two big swings, alex rodriguez

looking nice in many areas as we head toward and through father's day weekend. first things first, the rainy spots this morning, difficult travel, boston, logan airport will be an issue. driving around southern new england will be a problem and some afternoon thunderstorms around new orleans in the the panhandle and dallas-fort worth, the airport could have some major delays with thunderstorms. now we get to the good stuff. the southeast, you've been really enjoying a period of nice weather. we've had some thunderstorms to deal with and rain, which we need, but look at atlanta over the next five days. temperatures in the mid 80s, great for this time of year and the humidity levels won't be that bad. further north, philadelphia, new england, looks fantastic as we go throughout father's day weekend. looking at temperatures in the 80s. it continues back to chicago, and it gets a little hot. but even by chicago standards, it looking very dry and nice. >> bill, thanks so much. well coming up, the latest celebrity goofy baby name. the actor who wants his high school diploma. and who has been offered a big role in the next "the hunger
