that's amall bit of progress. the fact that so far we've only got a gate open, and the wall is still up, means there's more work to do and that's the work of your generation. so as long as more walls still stand we'll need more people like sylvia. we'll need more of you. young people. who imagine the world as it should be. who knock down walls. who knock down bar yers. -- barriers. who imagine something different and have the courage to make it happen. the courage to bring communities together. who make even the small impossibilities a shining example of what is possible. and that, more than anything, will shape what northern ireland

looks like 50 years from now and beyond. all of you -- every single young person here today possesses something that the generation before you did not, and that is an example to follow. when those who took a chance on peace, got started, they didn't have a successful model to emulate. but they took a chance. and so far it has succeeded. and the first steps are the hardest and requires the most courage. and the rest, now, is up to you. peace is indeed harder than war. the irish author mcgann recently wrote. it's constant fragility is part of its beauty. bullet need happen only once.

but for peace to work, we need to be reminded of its existence again and again and again. and that's what we need from you, that's what we need from every young person in northern ireland and every young person around the world. you must remind us of the existence of peace, the possibility of peace. you have to remind us of hope again and again and again. despite resistance, despite setbacks, despite hardships, despite tragedy, you have to remind us of the future. again and again and again. i have confidence that you will choose that path.

of course, those were prepared remarks at the belfast water front. we'll meet with david cameron and this evening we'll have private talks with russian president vladimir putin where it's expected the two leaders will discuss the escalating conflict in syria. from the reception he got in northern ireland he seems to be wildly popular there. in terms of that popularity only 36% of europeans approve of the president's job performance, that's down 11% from 2009. the department has broken up terror plots in 20 countries around the world. mike rogers believes that the public will come to support the nsa. former cia director michael

that sheltered individuals. north korea is proposing senior-level talks with the united states to discuss a peace treaty to bring the korean war to a close. u.s. officials welcome the proposal, but caution any meetings would be predicated on north korea living up to its agreements. they're threatening to ban the gang of eight immigration reform unless there's significant changes made to the bill. more than 100 amendments are being considered. at the center of the debate is senator marco rubio, a potential 2016 presidential candidate who believes that up to 96% of the bill is in quote, perfect shape.
