athletes would be barred from wearing hets cars. welcome everyone, now a... rare visit has taken place the occupied west bank by a saudi delegation, move unseen in over 30 years and even rarer than that move an israeli cabinet member head of tourism visits the saudi kingdom a first read claims issue of palestine and fate of palestinians are of utmost concern to it, but how much of a concern is it when we may be witnessing normalization of ties between saudi arabia and the israeli regime in tel aviv. let's discuss this with our guests now and this install. spotlight. juining us is elijah
2:03 am
magneer, journalists and political analysts, joining us out of brussels. and mr. firas al-najim, manager at canadian defenders for human rights, joining us from toronto. hello gentlemen, i like to welcome you both to the program. i guess we will start there in brussels with you mr. elijah magneer, so what do you make of the saudi's meeting with some factions of palestinian leadership there in the occupied west bank, and we have heard nothing about a meeting with resistance groups, is that possibly a red flag? thank you for having me. i think this is a first step for the saudis to normalize in the latest step with israel. at the end of the day, the ambassador they sent to jerusalem.
2:04 am
and to meet with the palestinian authority is de an ambassador who has been in jordan who has long experience in contacting and dealing and meeting with the israelis, we have to keep in mind that saudi arabia has sent already several saudi delegations to israel years ago and it's continuing the cooperation with israel. the only thing that is missing is the public announcement. and for that to happen, i think saudi arabia needs to prepare the ground, and by preparing the ground, it needs at least the palestinian authority to be its side, because the palestinian authority and president mahmoud abbas that has been president since 2005 and is not willing to allow other people to present on and replace him, is some someone who is cooperating particularly on the security. level with the
2:05 am
israelis, he is the one responsible for the arrest of many palestinian resistance element in the palestinia authority area, and he is not someone who is willing to collaborate with all the resistant parties in gaza. this is why the saudies go to the person who is already in good contact with the israeli, who can lay the ground. before the final decision of the saudies to normalize with israel. thank you, mr. magnier, mr. ferm, welcome to the program there out of toronto. now, do you share mr. magneer's concerns, because uh, the saudis have for years ruled out any talks or normalization or recognition of the regime until they guarantee the palestinians, their state and their rights. do you feel that is becoming compromised at the stage of the game? yes, well, you know, it's very clear.
2:06 am
the saudi regime has always worked in the interest of the israeli regime by standing against the resistance groups especially like in the war of 2006 between hizbullah and israel we seen a very very unjust stand from the saudi regime we see that they have destroyed their neighboring country yemen that is very key uh support of nation to the palestinian cause we see that um the... saudi regime has helped the normalization between bahrain and israel, has helped the normalization between the uae and israel, i mean it's very clear that they are in support of normalization with normalization with israel, but they are scared of the backlash and the response of their nation, how they will stand up against this normalization and they will reject it, because you know a good a good portion of the saudi - people, the
2:07 am
nation itself are against israel, are against the occupation, they're against the dissecration of the holy ala mass and so much violations against. muslims and muslim women in ramadan in the holy month of ramadan and other other times, i mean the saudi regime has always been prepping up for the day where they were publicly announced their normalization with israel, but we we didn't hear any condemmination when they seen that the uae normalized with israel or bahrain normalized with israel and there we we know it's very obvious by the the media and the news and if anyone does any basic research you'll know that the bahraini regime and the ua regime work in coordination with the saudi regime and when they you when the bahraini regime was under danger when the people were rising up against this tyrant regime the ones that came to save this this uh al khalifa regime was the saudi and uae so it's very clear that they are in support of the israeli
2:08 am
regim unfortunately this is a big backstab the whole islamic world into a palestinian people i mean the palestinian people are gonna be very very hurt. by this seeing the land that's supposed to be - holiest land for muslims being ruled by uh these people that are so-called muslim rulers that will go and work with the enemies of islam and and normalize them and and this is empowering the occupation and supporting them so this is very big betray to the islamic um right thank you f and mr. elijah magnier can you proclaim to care for the palestinian cause palestinian's right to sover. state of palestinian identity and self-determination, at the same time, normalized ties with the very regime that has and wants to continue to deny palestinians of those very things. it is impossible to do both. you see today when the
2:09 am
saudi ambassador arrived to palestine, at the same time you have the israeli tourism minister, who arrived in saudi arabia, so we see the arrival of the israeli minister who saying that the tourism is a bridge between nations, it's a clear indication that the saudi are way ahead in the normalization with israel, secondly is if the oslo agreement that was announced by benyamin netanyahu is that how the saudis can ask the return of the palestinian rights and territory when you have a prime minister who saying there is nothing such a palestine. thirdly benyamin netanyahu was at the united nations showing map where palestine doesn't exist at all, map of 1948 and when benyamin netanyahu is saying
2:10 am
there is no place for the palestinian, and when the west bank, all the areas, area a, b, and j, area a is total. under the israeli violation, even in the west bank, so the israelis are taking what is not there, is taking what the austler agreement gave to the palestinians and increasing the settlements by thousands every year, therefore it is not up to the saudis to give back the right of the palestinian by normalizing with israel with israel, the only way that prove that israel language understand and is the language of force and seen how gaza imposed so many times on the israelis deterrance only by using their missiles and rocket, it is not by normalizing the relationship between the arab state and the muslim state and israel
2:11 am
that the palestinian will gain back their rights when the israelis are telling us there is nothing to be given to the palestini anymore and do you agree with that the israel regime only understands force because if you if you remember back in uh uh february of 2020 when um donald trump's regime tried to come up with this uh palestinian and israeli peace process where the palestinian give up 30% of the west bank to annexation and get money for it and return the palestinians laffed at it and then uh the trump administration was going to go ahead and allow the israelies to do it anyway to annex 30% of the occupied westbank the uae came in and said we will normalize if you do not conduct that annexation but guess what is slowly taking that land block by block, neighborhood by neighborhood under everyone's uh you know nose, so my question to you, can the regime be trusted, and does it to mr. magneer's point, only understand force? i mean, the israeli regime was built by force and by evicting the palestinians and stealing
2:12 am
their land, and the only way it can be deal with is by force, and we seen that gradually over time that the only way that they actually uh bow down and give you some type of rights or pull back is by force, we seen that in 2006 when hizbullah went into war with them, that's the only way they were able to release all the prisoners that are lebanese from the israel jails, they tried through united nations, they tried through different ways and it never was successful, the only way it was, but was by the strong resistance and righteous leadership and righteous plans, and this is the way that it works with israeli regime, and now that gaza has been equipped and and and and strong enough to resist, um, they they always um think twice, three times, four times before going into any battle with the gaza strip, and uh, you know, and gaza is now. stronger because of the resistance, and you know the saudi regime is making a big mistake, it's a
2:13 am
big mistake for them because they will also compromise their relationship with the islamic republic of iran, that is the key important country supporting the palestinian cause and supporting the palestinian resistance, and this was an opportunity for them to patch things up and to build an alliance that could work against the israelis and hopefully help the palestinians liberate their land, but now they are pushing towards uh supporting the occupation and being... more of puppets and and more of people that don't have any sovereignty and this is not in the interest of the saudi regime, we condem the saudi regime for making these moves and going towards normalization and betraying the palestinian people, because the palestinian people have been violated and been living the the difficult life and it need support, they need resistance, they need people that will fight for their rights and not people that will trample on their rights like the rest of the world as we see the united nations have been watching the nations uh happening. for so many years, countless amounts of violations, and we never see them any way penalized israeli regime, the only people
2:14 am
that were able to penalize the israeli regime was the righteous resistance uh such as hizbullah and hamas and islamic jihad and the the beautiful resistance that's happening in west bank and jed and all these places and we support the resistance in jerusalem as well everywhere all over palestine. thank you - fyraz and mr. elijah magnier to feiraz this point i want to put this um to you. he mentioned that this is going to be bad normalization for riad tehran ties, but i want to one go step further, i want to say that uh aviv has been not too good of a neighbor to anyone around it, not for jordan, not for syria, not for lebanon, obviously, not for the palestinians, so the saudi kingdom, how does it think that it's going to be impact its ties with those countries and those people, and and needless to say for the region, how is this even good for the kingdom and the region as a whole? saudi arabia doesn't care about what the other people think, particularly in the region. saudi
2:15 am
arabia now wants zero problem is all its neighbors, because they have economic and project for 2030 where they want good relationship with everybody. nonetheless, the population in the middle east reacted during the world cup to the presence of israeli journalists in on their territory, particularly in qatar, a country that has been in good relationship with israel for the last 20 years. therefore there is a big gap between all the leaders in the arab states and their own people and the population, and that included jordan, include egypt, and include morocco, bahrain, qatar, and now saudi arabia, so to start seeing the saudi receiving the israeli delegation one after the... other this month have been a delegation of the israeli cabinet, this next
2:16 am
week is going to be another israeli delegation that is going to speak at the un congress at the unesco world heritage, so all that is just to make sure that people are accustomed to see israelis on their territory, and we talking about the holy land when we talk about mecca and we talk about saudi arabia, this is not... in theory should not be permitted, however, the behavior of the saudies looks like is really careless about the people think and doesn't give a weight to the population but gives weight to its own interest and saudi believe that it is in its own interest to have good relationship with israel, even if israel has been deterred in lebanon, has been deterred in with the iranians and israel is limited in its action today and to sabotage attack and intelligence
2:17 am
attack and only riots and directing right is no longer capable of claiming to be the strongest army in the middle east so the behavior of these arab leaders to come close to israel to please who to please themselves or to to offer peace that israel doesn't want. and doesn't want to give back any right to the palestinians. the oslo agreement failed to do so, if all the attempts of the palestinian to live with the jew and to live with the israelis in two states. and the palestinian agree, the israeli refuse it, so how can you accept to go and normalize with israel when the people in egypt are behaving still today completely in a very hostile way against the israelis, the jordanian are doing exactly the same, the moroccans are doing the
2:18 am
same, no country where in the arab world where there are normal relationship between the state. and israel, the the population feel exactly the same, completely the opposite, so i don't think at all the saudies are aiming to give any right of the palestinian, the united nations article 194 has never been implemented, the right of return has never been given to the palestinian, the two state has never been agreed by the israelis and i don't think saudi arabia is going to have magic wand and implemented. interesting and and firos, your thoughts also on that, what mr magnier was saying, because even abraham, the so-called abraham accords themselves, they gave uh bahrain and the uae some investment uh contracts, some security contracts, some promise of some uh fighter jets and what not, morocco got recognition of the western sahara a piece of desert, no one got anything for the palestinians and then uh what sudan got
2:19 am
taken off of a terrorist uh list, it got uh loan for $1.2 billion dollars that it could you know take care. loan to the world bank, i don't hear the word palestinian, palestinian issue, palestinian cause out of any of these arab states, so when it comes to the so-called abraham accords, uh, your thoughts on the us as mediator to normalize, using these accords to bring riad and tel aviv into the same room, when the name palestinian, or the identity of the palestinians or their cause is not getting mentioned, one time or the word concessions, yes, i mean it's very clear the american um regime is mafia right, and it's all the way they work is by blackmailing and bribing and uh you know manipulating things to the interests and benefits of that nation so they see the weak points of that nation or that government and then they uh you know somehow blackmail them some way and in a way or bribe them in a certain way and then they they they they bind these agreements these agreements are all illegitimate they're all unjust they have no interest for the policys in any way and
2:20 am
especially today right now you have the most extremest radical israeli cabinet these people are very anti-palestinian, they're very islamophobic, they have no respect for muslims in any way, you've seen what they did in ramadans, uh, every ramadan, there is always dissecretion to the masks, there's disrespect to the muslims and is publicly aired on tv and social media, they have no care for anything, mean the only solution for this is a one state solution, palestinian state where the palestinian, muslims, christians and jews choose their destiny and choose the government that they want to rule them, and that is obviously. by either the israeli regime, you know, being dismantled, self-dismentled itself, or being liberated by the resistance force, and the saudi regime should know that the islamic republic of iran is working righteously and paying the price by living under sanctions and all types of deformation projects and so on, to support the palestinians, they they're not, for them
2:21 am
it's it's illegal, and it's totally off off the book to normalize with the israeli regim, the israeli regim is a... in the region and it's uh all we've seen was destabilization to the whole region and and so much divisions and blood shit because of the israeli regime they have they have their heads involved in so much assassinations and killings and mr. magneer you noticed every country that has attempted normalization or gone through with normalization has had huge blowback from its own population the people do not want this happening do you see the same thing with saudi arabia and right now we have the israeli tourism minister first israeli cabinet member to visit the kingdom, can you imagine israel, do they have safety to travel to saudi arabia in the future? well, you're talking about regime where there is no democracy, there is no election, there are no government to are elected by the parliament or approved by the parliament, they're talking about kingdoms where there is one man
2:22 am
who is ruling the country, and all the others are like a bouquet of flower and folkloric presence to say there are those who are managing the country, however, because the decision is in the hand of one person, is why depending on the view of this person that the people need to adapt and a just without necessarily accepting what this ruler is doing, but they can't rise against the rulers otherwise they will be completely crashed, so i don't think the population in saudi arabia. will rise against what the saudi's rulers are doing because we've seen delegation israeli delegation in saudi arabia and we've seen um security and intelligence delegation from saudi arabia in palestine meeting the israelis on several occasions, so this flow backward and forward and a meeting between
2:23 am
muhammad bin salman benyamin netanyahu in neom, few years ago, all that went unnoticed by the saudi population or at least there is no voice for the saudi population in the media where they can express themselves. against what the ruler is doing, otherwise they will end up like all the other opposition, the example of kamal khajukji, is still very vivid in the mind of the people, so the opposition in saudi arabia have no right to speak, they will be killed or they will persecuted, or they will be or their asset will be dismantled and their families will be put in jail, so for that we will, i don't think we will hear a strong opposition from the population in. arabia, i want to thank you both for joining us in the program, gentlemen, nevertheless palestinians will call it huge stab in the back if riad goes through with this, i want to thank you both for putting your time and joining us on press
