hello and welcome, we are speaking to you live from the cultural capital of the islamic republic world, islamic republic, the city of isfahan, this year, the mustafa prize, the scientific and technological achievements of scientists in the muslim world will be uh put into a sort of competition. will be awarded in iran. now uh, this year in this event, over 100 foreign scientist, researchers and scholars from different countries of the world have gathered here in iran to participate in this year's event. now right now i'm joined by guest, one of the many uh attendees of this year's mustafa prize ceremony from the country of turkey. i
8:03 pm
welcome you to our program sir, please introduce yourself to our viewers, thank you of very much, my name is mustafa soylak, i am at professor rgs university, turkey, my major area is chemistry, especially my major studies related with analytical chemistry and environmental pollution, okay, and thank you, is this your first experience, you know, of attending in the mustafa prize ceremony, maybe for mustafa prize, third one, and step meetings over them five, step meetings are a side, i'm sorry to introp you, step meetings are a side event of the mustafa prize, which step stands for science and technology exchange program, it's a platform for for connecting the scientists and researchers in the muslim countries in order to create more.
8:04 pm
energy among them. okay, back to you, so tell us about how do you see this event, how do you find it, how how effective is it in in in improving the let's say the scientific level of muslim countries? firstly, i want to thank to mustafa foundation for their invitation to isfahan is one is wonderful city and i was, i'm thinking that. it it is very important scientific platform for the uh joining the all the muslim scientists around the world as you said over than 100 scientists from arode and also scientist yes top scientists and also some iranian scientists we are together and we are discussing lot of things for example so for me environmental pollution,
8:05 pm
some people are related with artificial intelligence and some of them are energy and others, to this point, it was very, very wonderful platform for the scientist, perfect, perfect, mr. soler, and and how do you think this um prize, this ceremony, this award, will help scientists in the future. uh muslim scientists? yes, it is a, we are scientist from islamic countries calling this nobel of islam, it is very, very high level price as scientific level, exactly, and due to this point, everyone look how we can get, how we can be good works about to get this
8:06 pm
prize and uh other things because it's a very prestige prestigely uh prize for the all scientists from turkey to iran to uh malaysia and others uh i think it will it after this time it will be very very attractive uh prize for all the scientists and and my final question. very briefly tell me do you think as you said it's seen as the muslim nobel can mustafa price compete with um the nobel price uh i am thinking in a near future for this ratio it will be definitely inshallah inshallah definitely definitely why not so um as our uh guest mr. sold us as you know the mustafa prize is seen among uh you know is
8:07 pm
often referred to the muslim nobel, and of that's because the number of top scientists that are gathered here, the topics that are discussed, the let's say cut edge technology that's been... discussed here like ai like uh and and other uh let's say futuristic technologies all these things gathered have made the mustafa awards a very prestigious and important event okay right now we have to uh go to the studio and watch feature that we prepared for you uh let's go and i'll see you soon. ما امسال اعطای پنجمین year 2023 we are making
8:08 pm
the fifth year of the mustafa award in isbahan. this award will be given to five selected scientists whether they live in the islamic world or uh muslims who live in other countries. دیگر این جایزه اعطا خواهد شد. those who win this year's award are from egypt, turkey, iran, lebanon, and the award is granted based on strict criteria. this award includes uh different fields from school age to university of students and in different fields of science, including engineering, biology.
8:09 pm
fully adjusted by international and domestic judges through a modern scientific methods and technology. this is why this award has gained a good reputation among world scientific communities. even the zionist regime had no choice but to praise this award and consider it a valuable initiative, an initiative that gathers the scholars of the islamic world around one access based on one clear and precise criteria. this award has managed to find this way in the public opinion of the islamic world and encourages young muslims to pursue scientific issues and move in the path of knowledge.
8:10 pm
okay, now the next part of uh our program is another interview with a professor from the beautiful country of lebanon. i welcome you to our show, mr. hadi yassin. uh, please introduce yourself to our viewers and tell us your area of expertise. so, bismillahirrahmanirrahim, thank you for the interview, my name is dr. yasin, i'm really from lebanon, but i am associated professor of communicable disease at qatar university biomedical research center, and mr. yasis, first of all, please tell us what uh is your motivation of participating an event like the mustafa price, so this is like an
8:11 pm
international event that hosts many renowmed scientists from all around the globe, so it's good to come and meet these scientists and exchange expertise and knowledge between. each other, great, and uh, the other thing is the the uh areas in which the scientists uh, with different expertise are chosen from, for example, your area of expertise, how do you see it among muslim countries in medicine, medical technologies, how do you see muslim, the muslim countries? so i'm into biomedical research field, so there are some good advance. in this field, but i think we need to work harder to compete with the western society and i believe we have the capacity, at one point we were leading uh this field in the past and we have the potential and we have the capacity to lead it in the future as well, inshallah and and as you said by
8:12 pm
medicine, um, it's very important these days, it's a hot topic, um, about biomedicine, it's one of the topics that is... focused on by by the let's say organizers of this event, so tell me your experience so far um in the meetings that you have had, what have the... been, how has these uh, you know, meetings, these gatherings during the mostav price sermony, helped to let's say connect, biomedicine, biotech, top scientists and researchers, and then what will it lead to? so this is the second day of the event and the event is composed of different sessions, one of them is for example, presentations and panel discussions, in the panel discussions you bring again renown scientists in specific
8:13 pm
areas and they discuss about the current advancement in biomedical field for example and we also had visits to different scientific parks to see like what is being done in this country in terms of in this of this field so and how advanced do you see iran in biotechnology and biomedicine, i think like it's well known that iran now is advancing in nanotechnology, which is the future for biomedical research and biomedical field, so i think we are on the right track in this regard, and and how can being a leading uh, you know country in this field uh help the region and other muslim countries, so the the fact that you are bringing all these uh scientists from different backgrounds and from different nations, even like muslim scientists from other countries,
8:14 pm
not like from the muslim country, like from europe, from us, from australia, i have met many of them, bringing them all into one event, that will bring unity among muslim scientists and hopefully that will help exchange of technology and science as the the event is titled, exactly, exactly, okay, okay, so uh thank you so much mr. haji yasin uh from the uh who is the professor of infectious diseases at catter university of biomedical research center now uh one of the other uh topics that uh or let's say areas that is being focused on uh during the mustafa prize is the nanotechnology one of the most technologies the modern world and one of them one of the uh it's one of the technologies that is very influential, it's has got an impact uh on different industies
8:15 pm
in different fields, from medicine, industries or anything else. now we are getting prepared to watch feature report uh on nanotechnology. uh, let's watch that. nanoscience is the study of structures and molecules. on the scales of nanometers ranging between 1 and 100 nanometer and the technology that utilizes it in practical applications is called nanotechnology. the nanotechnology sector is a prime example of success in iran, an arena consisting of expert and program-oriented human resources with significant goals that shines like a jewel in the innovation and technology ecosystem of the country. iran currently ranks fourth in nanotechnology in the world after the united states, india and china. with the support of talented academies and
8:16 pm
knowledge-based companies, the nanotechnology sector has indigenized many technologies to solve the main challenges of the country in various areas, including industry, producing coronavirus diagnostic kits by iranian knowledge-based companies and receiving requests for buying the product from around 40 countries are among the notable achievements of the nanotechnology sector. icu ventilators for covid-19 patients, face masks and laser thermometers, household appliances, cars, medicine and medical supplies, textiles, air purifiers, catalysts, power plant filters, oil well drilling equipment, walves and pipe fittings, water disinfectants and waterproof coatings are among the products that have been produced by domestic nanotechnology companies, the expansion of exports in recent years and the creation of bases in china, india, indonesia, syria, turkey and iraq have provided a
8:17 pm
platform for the entry of iran's nanotechnology goods, equipment and services into the world markets. iranian nanotechnology companies export their products, equipment and services to 58 countries. the exports increased by 53% in the iranian calendar year, 1400, march 2021 to march 2022, compared to the preceding year. the the expansion of export programs, especially in recent years, has led to the entry of iranian nanotechnology products, equipment and services into global markets. the three countries of iraq, turkey and liban. were the most important destinations for iranian nanotechnology products with $21.5 million dollars and $12.4 million dollars and 9.3 million dollars of imports respectively. some 42% of the products in this field are related to construction, more than 17% to the field of oil, gas and petrol chemicals, 13% to the field of automobiles
8:18 pm
and over 10% to the field of optoelectronics. okay, that's the uh end of this special coverage of the mostava prize, the fifth edition of this prestigious scientific award, and you just watched us from the beautiful city of isfahani in central iran. now, i have to say goodbye to you, however, we have another item, the one, the last... but not the least, that will tell you more about one the top scientists of iran. let's watch it. jabar ibn hayan was an islamic thinker from the early medieval period, to whom is ascribed authorship of a large number of alchemchemical, practical and philosophical works. many of these words were translated
8:19 pm
and distributed throughout the learning centers of medieval europe under the latin. nice form of jobber's name jebber, whether or not he was genuinely the author of all the worlds attributed to him, his contributions were substantial, laying the foundations of modern chemistry. there can be no doubts that works ascribe to jab, particularly under the latinized monacher jebber have had a profound influence on the development of chemical knowledge in the west, including as they do advanced chemical processes, such as the manufacture of nitric and sulpuric acid. and the introduction of the experimental method. many of jobber's works, however are red in esoteric pros that are hardly decipherable in a scientific context. the authorship of some works, particularly those in latin with no arabic originals or disputed by modern scholars, many of whom claim that the chemical knowledge they display is four ahead

of what was known to ninth century practitioners, still or a minority who make case for jobber's authorship of all the works headged to him, crisis, devastating wars, terrorism, the israeli lobby, crackdown, diplomacy, us autoworkers on strike, make sure to join the show through facebook, twitter, only on press tv.

danke schön, danke schön, i'm busy, i am busy, if i don't met
8:22 pm
8:23 pm
it's always difficult to talk about oneself an objective manner, but i've had a career which started in turkey, i had all of my secondary education and my university education in turkey and then i went to the us to get a phd, so i was assistant professor at university of michigan in ann harbor which was... an interesting university and still is, in those days, the head of the computer science department, where i was hired to work as assistant professor, was one of the actual
8:24 pm
signatories, actually the inventors of what is known as the fonnyman machine, the phonoin machine is the initial model of computation which has been implemented in today's computers, so the funny machine is the best basic template, the basic model concept. model for all the computers that we use, it was very interesting for me to be an environment where the person who was head of department was actually the first author of the first paper describing what we call computers today, so that was a revealing experience. at that time, with a full right fellowship, i was not allowed to stay totally in the us more than five years and i returned to the other side of the atlantic and joined institute in france. called area those days.
8:25 pm
my drive for looking at problems has always been to understand what is going to look a situation and try to understand it both theoretically in terms of mathematics, but also to see how it can be done better through practical approaches. so this has been... always my curiosity, why is it like that? uh, how can we explain it, how can we make it better, and how can it actually happen in practice? most of my real successes, they have been driven by a strong sense of failure, but on this particular aspect that i'm curious about, i know i'm. and by failing repeatedly at the end find the way out, so i think that one aspect that people have to understand is that success is the result of
8:26 pm
failure, so first of all, you really have to fail, and as you fail, and you are self critical, you find the way out. my work includes science. essentially mathematical science and includes very often direct applications in technology, so i think i got the award because of this dual characteristic of science and technology in the information sciences, in computers, in the field of computer science, communication science and areas which involve information technology. the way the prize is set up is is wonderful. i think it it currently focuses on areas which have a strong technological content, which is probably correct in terms of the priorities. i think that the prize, as it is
8:27 pm
now, with the double aspect of science and practicality is quite original and interesting as new contribution to the way to look at things, don't think just about science, don't think just about technology and making money. look at the links between science and technology and look at the interplane. take your pick of current affairs. iran and west asia are news factories. for in-depth look at what's happening in and in relation to iran. iran today is your show. spotlight is exactly what it says. beaming a light on important topics the day wherever they arise from an alternative viewpoint. if you want american affairs analyzed by experts from the usa,
