tv   SPOTLIGHT GAZA UNDER ATTACK  PRESSTV  October 21, 2023 6:02am-6:30am IRST

6:02 am
day 14 of operation allox of flood is continuing along with the massacre of the palestinians. the israeli regime forces have continued with their onslot on the gaza strip. the latest figures putting the death doll at around 4137 with 13 injuries. the deathdul of children and women continue to climb by some estimates putting that at 30%. meanwhile the international community, if it can be... called that has failed even address
6:03 am
the humanitarian assistance, even though the un secretary general has uh effortlessly tried to make sure aid flows into the uh gaza strip through the rough border crossing, but that's being met by technical issues like the israelis rejecting that at least for now. where is this war going to go? our palestinians going to uh get closer to the dream of having having their lands liberated. just a couple of the questions we're going to be asking our guests in this edition of the spotlight. all right, first let me introduce them. carl barkot spokesperson at the masar badil movement joins us from vancouver. also of joining us is mick nap here, co-founder of the scottish palestine solidarity campaign who joined us from edinburgh. welcome to you both. uh, i'll first start with you, if i may halet barrakot, uh, just to give you an example about uh the way that israel. um has
6:04 am
continued with not only the the killings, but the way that uh other mass atrocities, which many have concluded are war crimes a minimum, is being committed by israel, before we came to this broadcast, there's news hospital, to have been received warnings from israel that it needs to be evacuated, and this is an impossibility because you have many patients there based on even the red crecent that uh are intensive. care and they're hooked up to machines or they need medical attention uh the war crimes committed by israel are so astounding, what do you think is going to be done about that? are we going to see some accountability in any shape or form? thank you for the invitation and good evening to you and your guests. i think the israeli war of crimes are going to continue as long as the
6:05 am
united states and the western powers like uk, germany, france are providing the full support of these war crimes, they are complicit and they have been supporting israelis not just with weapons and financial support and political support, but also selling israely narrative and lies and fabricating these lies to the world, also they have been... blocking any kind of a real - peace or justice to happen in the area, and we know that the united states, although they might say that they are, for example, you know, they are for the human rights or palestinian rights or they're against israeli building settlements, but in reality the united states does not care about
6:06 am
palestinians, does not care about palestinian rights and we have heard by them, and all along all these us administration, they not just justify israel crimes and adopt the the israeli narrative, we know that the united states are an initiators of these wars in 2006, their wars against lebanon, it was kundeliz who was pushing for that. war and this war too, and all along these aggressions that israel have been conducting against the people in ghazza in 2008, 2012, 2014, the united states always back israel. i think that this time there is a we are revealing new balance of power on an international level, and gazza is revealing that. is also
6:07 am
revealing the true balance of power that it's a new world it's coming along and usually in these kind of interim periods we see the atrocity. that could happen at the hands of empire that is retreating, sure, the united states is weaker than actually what it used to be ever, and it is empire that is crumbling in my view, if you agree with that, make nap here that the us has actually a leading role in this, which all fingers are pointing to that, um, how much of a risk does the us play in terms of uh, not only its international standing, but also revealing the true color and nature of the us in the previous wars that have happened in this region, for example the yemen war, we don't
6:08 am
have your voice, mc napier, i'm sorry, okay, while we get that fixed, well that gets fixed, let me let me come to you, khalid barakat, so let's expand on this a little bit more, because it can't be just summed up in in in your response, um, in terms of the amount of military assistance uh that the us has given uh israel, just since this operation broke out, and especially um in the past days after the visit of the us president is quite astounding, we understand that uh the the us so far in terms of military equipment uh had five planes carrying weapons to have arrived in israel today, and then since the start of the alasa um operation, 45 cargo planes carrying 1,00 tons of weapons have entered the um occupied territories, and there was as of days ago, 6,000 tons, which
6:09 am
i'm sure is now lot more than that, at least 30% more to have been dropped on gaza, that's quite remarkable. uh, does that uh, doesn't that require a rethink uh from uh whatever organization that should prevent civilian deaths to happen in terms of the assistance that the us has given to be directed at the us, so this doesn't happen. the united states, since 1990, i'll say, after the collapse of the soviet union and the socialist block have been leading the world from one catester. to another and from one war to another, let's take a look at our region for example, all the wars that happen in west asia, in iraq, in yemen, in afghanistan, the the funding all these
6:10 am
sectarian wars in the region, the killing of millions of people, putting most of the people of the region under sanctions, it has all been a united states america orchestrated wars, sometime israel have role to play in that, sometimes regime have role to play in that egyptian regime, but this is a united states blood war and atrocities and war crimes and they don't care about united nation or international law, just take a look at what happened in iraq, when the united nations were telling them that you cannot launch a war in iraq without a real evidence. they fabricated a big lie and that there is a weapons of mass destruction and they did not care. the united states doesn't care about international law, in fact they don't use that word anymore. if you ask any of these western leaders about international law, they
6:11 am
won't talk about it, they don't want to talk about that. they the world has been um restructured in a way that is the us decides the fate of of you know or wants to decide the fate of of humanity, and now they've been met with opposition all over the world, the united states cannot, okay, actually lead the world, the united states is a regional power, it's not an empire anymore that what it used to be 30 years ago, very well, we have mcnapp here now with us, co-founder of the... solidarity campaign. welcome to the program, mcnapier. where would you like to start with uh, my question, if you want to pursue answer to that, because there's so many different angles to this, and uh, what uh, i think is important is is to look at the way that the uk maybe has acted in this with rishi sunak,
6:12 am
the way that joe biden is uh, giving the green light for this war to continue, and this is just a complete failure and breakdown uh, when world leaders are giving the green light for massacres to take place. but i think your other guest has made case and if we had enough time we could quote chapter and verse and statistics that the usa has been creating uh blood bath around the world ever since 1945, mean it's important to know that the the international law against seasing parts of a country by force against - aggressive war, aggressive war being the the greatest crime of all in international law, because it contains within itself the seeds of all the other crimes, america has gone from 1945, overthrowing governments, drowning governments and drowning people in blood um who who who did not act in a way that the us
6:13 am
empire approved of. i mean bill clinton went apologized to the people of central america uh when he was president because it was a it was a blood bath, it was a charnal house. america had supported the most bloody dictators who made no pretense of uh anything other than using ultra violence against. peoples, they went into vietnam and killed 3 million people before they were defeated, and you know the international law from 1945 was not meant to apply to asia and africa and latin america, it was for europeans and it and it was never invoked against the french with their bloody conquest and and defense of their rule in algeria and so on and so on and so on. so anyone who's surprised by the... usa being ruthless, being ready to apply huge violence in order to maintain its domination
6:14 am
of a region, simply doesn't know their history, and this terrible example today of is of israel enjoying us backing in order to commit genocide against the people of gaza, this has been known to anybody who could read for for 50 years, there's nothing hidden. designs have been very public, very clear, ever since the founding father, here, but every other designs government, israeli government since then, they want palestine with no palestinians, this is clear, it's not a conspiracy theory, it's written in their documents, they envisage a state based exclusively on jews, actually a weird state, because that means that jews in in uh in in in in scotland or or germany, they can
6:15 am
determine the future of palestine, but palestinians may not, and that was the that was the the clear content of their so-called nation state law several years ago, that only jews have certain democratic rights and jews the whole world have never been to palestine, over and above the native palestinian people, so it's an eggrigious crime, it's... spell spectrum criminality, because in order to clear the people out, whether this be north america, argentina, australia, canada or or palestine, just use huge amounts of violence, and and and of course it's a very ugly scene, that the the the additional point i would make is that as a as opposed to say canada or australia, israel has become a kind of crusader state in the middle east, it's a kind of attack dog. for america and i made the point before, may i make it again, american support for israel was very modest
6:16 am
until israel in 1967 defeated egypt, syria and jordan, and they proved that they could terrorize the the area, so then american aid to israel goes through the roof, but it's only because not because they care about the population of israel or anywhere else, but because it could be ally in order to patrol the local uh states, all right? we are reached a juncture between uh palestine and israel where um there is uh point where uh things can't go back to the status quo i don't know if you agree with that or not if you do uh then there needs to be some kind of decisions made here what am i asking here first of all operational loss of flood obviously just trashed the notion of israel's invincibility defense one um is a website that is close to the american uh military
6:17 am
establishment and they described hamas in so many words and i'm paraphrasing here, but they knew exactly where to go, including things that were not marked in terms of side gates of bases, they knew where the critical communications nodes were that they were able to destroy with jones and other kinetic strikes to impede the response, this was a lengthy article talking about the capabilities of hamas, so we that hamas can't take on israel, and that's just hamas of course with the other palestinian factions in this case, united. israel is going to go into the ghaza strip by all looks of it. um, what? will it take uh in order for the to have a winner come out strong? many are pointing to the fact that hamas is going to uh defeat israel if israel decides on this invasion. if that happens, what will the aftermath look like? well, i mean, israel is committing
6:18 am
genocide and killing people for a reason also, they want to triple the... palestinian ability to fight back and they want to pressure the palestinian resistance and they want to be able to come out victorious or at least come out with an image of victory, but these crimes doesn't actually cut that for israel, so they're gonna have to fight, and if that happen, and this actually was a direct question from biden to netanyahu that if you go to gazza, how long you take and how much you know that you can actually crush the palestinian resistance. i think that gazza is going to be a graveyard for israeli soldiers and israeli tanks, just like what happened in lebanon in 2006, if israel invades gazza, israeli army is going to suffer a great
6:19 am
casualties that they might not be able to withstand. the other thing is that the israeli generals. are complaining now that they don't have a clear orders from their political leadership, in fact they are publicly complaining that they don't know what they're doing, like are they going to occupy ghaza for example, and then what they gonna rule ghazzah and can they actually determine the fate of the palestinian resistance? this is not an organization, whether we're talking about hamas or islamic jihad or others, these are not organizations. are operating in vacuum, they are part of the palestinian national liberation movement and their relationship to the people is like the relation between blood and flesh, you can't separate the two, so that's why one of israeli objectives is to displace palestinians from gazza, because they feel
6:20 am
that the palestinian resistance is a threat to israel and allies plans in the region. whether we're talking about normalization or their you know a big economic project in the region, they feel that the the palestinian resistance and the lebanese resistance are an obstacle and they know that this is part of camp of resistance in the region that is getting very very powerful popular support in in the entire arab and muslim world. defeat for israel uh would would not just be defeat on the ground there in the gaza strip, which many are are pointing to that, like our guess there said to many other, actually military analysts, but if israel was to be defeated there, then going back to the occupied territories would also would also be facing such huge uh challenge on multiple fronts, mean you're going to have uh first as we're
6:21 am
seeing in the occupied territories, you're having hate crimes occur, you're having many palestinians who uh are being detained, they're being killed a much faster rate, you have economy that's decimated, and who's going to invest uh in in israel when israel can't guarantee them security, so um, you know, the whole foundation of israel is a jeeparty here, isn't it? well, we have to think back to the 7th of october, and what did the world look like then? um, palestinians were supposed to. live and die in the gaza cage, and their children were supposed to live and die, and israel was triumphant a technological giant internationally who sold its means of repression to governments all over the world to control their people, it was a model for repression, it was a planetary uh number one in many ways, all of all because it was
6:22 am
tested on the bodies of palestinian people, israel had automatic machine got. got machine tour machine gun towers around gaza, high tech, the palestinians were supposed to be in the disgusting words of raffitan, an israelly general, like druged cockroaches in a bottle, well they weren't druged cockroaches in a bottle, it was astonishing, and in the annals of asymmetric warfare, the vietnamese against the american invaders, you now so many the the the algerians against... the french, it's not just that the the the the the colonized people the were were weaker military, this was such a gigantic difference between the military powers, that is utterly astonishing what happened that the the palestinian resistance was able to break out of gaza, was
6:23 am
able to kill 300 soldiers of this apparently model army, it was remarkable, so sure israel has always had had fixed point that they must not just win against arab countries and arabs, they must be invincible, they must have such an edge that that they terrorize. the whole area, they call it their deterrent age, well they lost it, they lost it in 2006 of course, they lost a lot of it, but what does this do? so i think the only way the israelis can redress this is uh, is to exterminate the palestinians and mean i'm reminded of the words of one american general in vietnam, we had to destroy the town in order to liberate it, now that's what that's american double speak, but they did use b-52 bombs, they did destroy, they did kill millions of people, so yes, i'm afraid, but i'm also inspired, and so millions, 300 million people across the arab world, so there's everything to fight for, but i would
6:24 am
just say desp, despite the amazing heroism, ingenuity, intelligence, strategic genius of the palestinian resistance, they cannot win on their own, they need the support of people across the region and across the world, and are they going to? get that in a minute please? i think that palestinians are already getting the popular support, i think they are managing to change the course of the compass the people of the region. let's remember that in the last 12 years, there has been a lot of destruction in the region, the arab societies and the sectarian wars and now jerusalem is back to be. the the compass of the arab and and muslim and the free will of the people of the world, i mean millions and millions are marching again, not just saying free
6:25 am
palestine from the river to the sea, but they're saying that they support the palestinian resistance, and palestine is still because of the region. thank you, spokesperson, movement in vancouver, mac napier, thank you so much, co-founder of the scottish palestine solidarity campaign from edinburgh with. we come to an end for this edition of the spotlight, for me and the team, it's goodbye.

israel started two wars on gaza, it resulted in destroying the infrastructure and ruining most fields. israel has been imposing a siege on this rip for more than seven years, in addition to blocking the crossings and preventing people from traveling. palestinian women played a significant role in highlighting these issues in media. we as journalists are capable of delivering our message to the world through the culture and the mind energy we have. i haven't faced any difficulties, i mean the palestinian society accepts the woman is part of it, so they even support us. for mind up right now to brief that you are strong to be here in this
6:30 am
position. is indiscriminate bombing of the besieged ghaza strip enters the 15th day taking lives of more palestinian women and children. the hamas resistance movement has released two captive american women for humanitarian reasons.
