tv SPOTLIGHT PRESSTV October 31, 2023 2:02am-2:29am IRST
2:02 am
hello and welcome to press tv spotlight, i'm hashimi, thanks so much for being with us, the israeli regime will never recover from of what happened to it, on october the 7th, the palestinian resistance operation on it or... what has happened to it since then, it has been after failure, the regime has killed over 8300 people, but it take military or strategic expertise to b civilians and homes. their images is image that they spend hundreds of millions on trying to create. the one, the only democratic country in the region with the most moral miller in the world, has not just been tornished but has totally disintegrated. it's invisibility been shown to be anything but that that even today of they... 93 the palestinian resistance
2:03 am
repelled an israeli incursion into gaza and destroyed several tanks. i want to welcome my guest to the program and look at various aspects of this genocide on gaza, but also on the resistance. i'd like to welcome charlotte kates, coordinate samadun palestinian prisoner solidarity network out of vancouver, and dandabar active commentator. out of new york, thank you both for being with me, uh, please to see both of you, well i start this off with charlotte, i mean charlotte, israel has become a paper tiger, is this connected to washington's loss of power globally or not, how do you see it? i think it's very clear that what we're seeing taking place in palestine today is is genocide, but it's a genocide being carried out by a wounded beast. that has taken serious and indeed
2:04 am
mortal blows from the palestinian resistance and from the rising power of peoples around the world confronting imperialism and zinism, and so the response that we have seen to the uh tremendous action of palestinian resistance on october 7th has been um and incomparable outraid by the zionist regime, the united states, france, germany, britain, canada and their partners, in or to call for all kinds of violence and destruction against the palestinian civilian population um in order to try to do anything to suppress the truth that was revealed on october 7th, which kind of showcased the strategic and military weakness or incapability of the zionist regime that despite all of these billions of dollars in weaponry provided every year by the united states, the occupation regime was not capable of mefully fighting back when it had to... fight on the ground versus
2:05 am
soldiers, so instead it's resorted to the only power that it has, which is carpet valving civilians from the sky and carrying out genocide against the palestinian population. yes and now the the us has responded to all of this by sending aircraft carriers, general serving as advisors. many say troops, american troops on the ground, although us vice president camela harris has denied this, but according to the washington post, two us aircraft carriers and their associated ships selling some 15000 per now combined have been sent, also task force of 4,000 marines and sailers have been repositioned and another 200 support troops have been put on alert, what do you think of all this an american? i mean, what's going on here? you had to go and call me that, didn't you? well you know how it is done. um, yeah, there's a lot, there's a lot to all of this. um, let's go back to september 22nd. when uh
2:06 am
trudo and zelinski, well he was on his last minegrubbing tour uh were caught uh praising of an sss of retired former 90 something year old ss uh you know jewish person killer nazi from world war ii in the in the canadian parliament right and it's an awful huge uh blowback in that politically for the us war against russia which is its major project at the moment um and politically for the... us generally in the context of everything else that's going on. um, here we are, uh, you know, what eight days plus 30, so 38 days later, and we have um an article in in the uh jewish chronicle today, for example, that basically points out that you, this riot that took place in dagistan, which russia says was instigated by uh ukrainian intelligence, which means us intelligence, um, had people writing and and looking for a jewish people
2:07 am
coming in a plane supposedly um and so this article says that uh you know there's a tweet from one guy who's famous zientist on twitter talked talking about grams in the history of russia, and then it says, quote, the jewish president of ukraine, vladimir zelinsky condemned them saying video from russia where angry mob broken to the airport searching for israeli citizens, is not an isolated incident, rather part of russia's wid culture of hatred, in other words, everything that they were caught doing they're trying to push off on russia, that happened in the context the battle that's going on, and there was it's like all these things that they they're going on, the incessant land. left in palestine and the extinction genocide in the apart that exists there and the incessant drive towards capturing russia that began with hitler really and the us has been doing it trying to do ever since they're on the run in both places and and it looks like some tried to make a grand stroke and fix all of
2:08 am
it but it's a really dangerous moment because they can't fix it right well at least not in the way that they're trying to do it um charlotte your i mean i've been talking talking uh throughout the day about this this uh the israeli regime losing the narrative now you talked about more and more people taking to the streets and the outrage um that has happened because i mean we're we're watching genocide um real-time on our television screen i mean do you think that the israeli regime can recover from this of course as don has just pointed out they're constantly trying to put out false claims and again trying to play the victim card but your overall assessment, now you're in vancouver, i don't, how many demonstrations of you guys have had in demonstrations in vancouver, i have seen out of toronto, but overall, what's your assessment? oh, we've just we had our last demonstration on saturday, and once again there were over 5,00 people on the streets, which is a trend number here in vancouver, to come out for anything, um, many
2:09 am
people were participating said it was the largest demonstration been to vancouver, so or at least the demonstration since the uh movement against the iraq war over 20 years ago, so these uh demonstrations in vancouver. toronto and montreal of course in cities throughout the us and cities throughout europe have been uh ballooning in size. i mean last week in london there were over 5000 people on the streets, there were 10000 in madrid, um, it's a tremendous amount of support and solidarity with palestine. of course, if you uh turned on state media or corporate media, you would be bombarded with nothing more than propaganda to promote and justify genocide um, taking place by the zionist regime with the full support of the us canadian. british, german and french governments, um, but the fact is that people are not relying on what the media is telling them. in fact, they're quite skeptical about lies and deception that they that have been promoted um since october 7th and of course before and on so many other issues. i mean, from the war on iraq to uh, the the drive to
2:10 am
push uh for the destruction of syria, the destruction of libya, i mean, all of these things are things that were promoted through media lis and what we can see from these numbers in the street is that people say aren't falling for the media lives anymore, and they're recognizing that this is genocide that's happening right now that people have a responsibility to take action and to stop it rather than to allow it to continue. mean right now there's 17 member of parliament offices in canada that are being occupied by supporters of palestine calling for an end canadian complicity and zionist war crimes uh just this morning there were uh mil military facilities uh weapons manufacturers el systems in cambridge that uh there was a direct action by palestine action us shut elbit down there uh this came the same day people were blocking military contractors in toronto and in copenhagen as well, addition to the big mass demonstrations, there's a rise in direct action directly confronting the involvement of the war machine in the ongoing crimes that are taking place in palestine, so what we can see is that like a mass popular level, the question is very clear, people are not coming out in massess
2:11 am
and thousands and tens and hundreds of thousands to stand with the zionist occupation regime, people are coming out to stand with the palestinian people, and this this is creating a real crisis and because it isn't possible to come back from the reality that people are seeing in real life in front their eyes, um, on social media, despite all the censorship that exists, people are hearing directly from palestinians in gaza, people are hearing directly when people's internet communications are silenced, when people they followed and read and become friends with for years are b and are no longer and their lives and their families are god. i mean, this is reality for people, and it's not possible to just kind of bundle it all up into propaganda and wish it away, and so no. don't think it's possible for um the design regime ever kind of launder its image again, so instead what these states are relying on is repression, trying to ban demonstrations, florida governor threatening students for justice in palestine, german police attacking demonstrations and banning
2:12 am
them, the french interior minister threatening left his political parties with terrorism prosecutions for speaking up about how palestinians have a right to resist, they can win people over through persuasion, so they're trying to force people over. to construct a police state in order to defend uh their zinastler colony and occupied palestine. what about that done? i mean, we are seeing the hejamonic front go full force, with their support of this general. regime around, not they didn't put it before, but they try to have some of semblance of a say of so call process and human rights and the jargon that they usually use, but time around, i mean we're 23 days into this, and they're asking for sease fire, humanitarian seats fire, i mean it's as if everything is just out in the open and forget palistin and life, just go forward and we have to show up the israeli regime no matter what it takes. so last friday, for example the general assembly uh debates and plots a resolution,
2:13 am
pretty generic resolution, well not blaming anyone other than saying, sease fire, sit down and negotiate, this is very dangerous thing, that's a very bad thing that's going on, it should stop, um, the united states, israel and 12 other countries voted against it in 193 member uh generally, um, out of the other 12 that voted against it, six are part the island chain. that the us used as a nuclear testing ground in the 1950s and 60s, they're generally pretty quient, marshall islands allow etc. um, the other six, you had you know some of the newly uh new nato members of former uh warsaw members like um croatia and uh the czech republic and and some others the baltics um the world is against this further however it's one thing to abstain like most of the other european or to vote yes, but to do nothing to prevent
2:14 am
this slaughter from happening, but you have the condition across europe for example, where the people were already in the street over what's going on in ukraine, where they've suffered now 50 years of austerity of declining standard of living exacerbated over the last two three years by the war in ukraine to where they have to decide now for almost two years whether eat or turn on the heat um they are the golden billion or whatever out of much of the... the world, you've got a place like saudi arabia where uh the government is about to make some sort of a partnership deal uh with israel and the general population is ready to run to to defend, um, there's going to be some governments that are going to be tipped over by the people themselves, if they don't come down on the right side with some actual action, this is a period of great instability, and it's going to likely be one of great change, and i think that the governments need to be paying close attention to their people and start doing what the... people want to try to find ways to repress them because you can only repress people so far history shows us no one has ever been
2:15 am
successfully repressed permanently unless you killed all of them right the palestinians are showing us that indeed indeed and and we've been talking about the genocide taking place guys want to switch gears a little bit and look at the west bank because as all the focus is on god and of course it should be with this unprecedented situation is taking place there at the same time the repression is so intense so much more intens now in the west bank, as we know, 270 people have been killed this whole year, 122 since october the 7th have been killed in the west bank and they're being cut off from um towns that i was talking to a couple people in various areas earlier, and and their lives are absolutely hell, and of course and have been, it's not new, it's just a little bit more intense right now while the world is looking elsewhere, your thoughts on that, and of course one of the main excuses, we we know this in hamas, there's no hamas there in the west bank, but go ahead, well i mean um, the
2:16 am
the the settler tacks are going are running vampit, you know, throughout uh, throughout the west bank, settlers have been officially deputized to these militias, so just giving them kind of cart blants which they already had, but even more openly continue their violent attacks against the palestinian population as a whole. we're also seeing these repeated violent military incursion. since the 7th of october there have been an additional 1650 palestinian politic prisoners. seized by uh zinis forces invading every single night, there have been over 100 marders in the west bank since the 7th of october, just yesterday there were four murders whose lives were taken by the occupation, there was a massive invasion of janine camp where um you saw that the occupying army was met with massive resistance and it was forced to draw from the camp, but at the same time you had um they took uh this metal horse that had been constructed in 2002 in the central square. in jamine refugee camp that had been constructed out of the the wreckage of ambulance that had been destroyed by the occupation military
2:17 am
during their 2002 invasion of daniel and so they they took a buldozer with a crane and arrested this horse and they they took a huge buldoser and they demolished the arches at the entry to janine camp thinking that by destroying these symbols of resistance they're somehow going to undermine the resistance of the palestinian people which is deeply rooted in the population of course there are uh resistance from the west bank, but also from islamic jihad, the pflp, from feta, all of the palestinian political forces and resistance forces are united in confronting the occupation and are united and hunting in and west bank and through occupied palestine from the river to the sea. well, we've seen this entity, not just what is doing of course in in gaza and the west bank, we see it regularly attacking syria, so now see it uh dealing with hacks in lebanon, and of course now hez has also dealt with uh responding to those attacks. how likely is it
2:18 am
that this whole situation will expand, explode in the region? it's it's israel's intent for it to expand, because it's israel's intent to expand territory, i mean it's not a secret, they have maps and netanyahu was holding one of them up at the un a couple of weeks ago, last week, i guess, mindpress news released today uh document they said was verified an advisory document from the ministry of intelligence at at uh in tel aviv, dated october 13th, gaza's residents are going to be forced to relocate to egypt and it said that the plan is ethnically cleanse as much land as they can, what that which they hold now, and we looking at the program of the design back to the 19th century, israel pretty big place in their mind, and they've got the military with all to try to grab it, and it's a threat everyone
2:19 am
else in the area, it's a threat to iran, it's a threat to syria, they bomb syria regularly, so you know, this because they want to steal more land and they want to drive people out, they don't mind killing people and mass in order to accomplish that because god said it's their land. yes, we we've heard uh netanyahu quoting from the bible to justify his gen genocide this week. i only have a minute charlotte, your perspective, but where do you see this going? um, as, today was day 23, over 8300 people have been killed in gaza alone, um, the western hejamic front is... not asking uh for uh even humanitarian sere, but the people of the world, civil societies, throughout the world are becoming more and more outraged. one minute, your take. absolutely. one thing that's very clear that the zionist regime has been able to with the support of the us and its partners, has been able to extract a tremendously awful price
2:20 am
from palestinian civilian population and is intent on carrying out a full-scale genocide in gasa. at the same time it's also clear that this regime is incapable of carrying out a land invasion and that it will be and that every time this army is forced to confront fighters on the ground, it faces deets, faces losses, and we can have confidence in the strength of the palestinian resistance and in the and in resistance forces in the region to repel this genocide, to repel this attack, and we also need to get out there on the streets and do everything that we can to make to intervene to stop these assaults which are you know damaging and harming the civil population. and stand in solidarity with the resistance that is bravely defending humanity in the face of injustice. and that i thank you both for being with me. cades coordinated solidarity network out of vancouver. activist and commentator out of new york. and as always, we appreciate our viewers being with us right here on press tv, hope to see you right here same time, tomorrow. goodbye.
2:23 am
palestinian resistance faction hamas announced the 28th of october after held back invading israeli occupation troops who overnight launched large scale ground operations into the coastal enclave under the cover of intense air rates. heavy losses were incurred by design enemies ranks as the palestinian resistance repelled the ground incursion yet heavy. slashes continued in several points of the northern gaza strip, the israeli enemy ground offensive was launched under the cover of violent campaign of air shoss by the entities air force which decimated northern gaza strip with hundreds of bombs, including internationally band white phosphorus and cluster munitions. gaza's ring of fire this week on the midstream.
2:25 am
it is the only political matter. has unified all parties here, there is no support this island for the bill, yet it is being romed through us minister with object disregard the people that it will affect and it deprives those vulnerable people in our society of access to justice of access to court. who do they think they are that they can insulate themselves in cases where by they committed crime, they are are the intend defendent in civil procedings for example. what in what society are we living that it is permissible that defend on two seasons can cut arace their own liability and stop those procedings
2:26 am
because they know what they did in white hall they have the big white wall with the main map what they know where their liability like. from israel's ethnic campaign in gaza tops 8300 most innocent women in number of israel's held by palestinian fighters are demanding benjam netanyahu secure release by accepting a prisoners swap and russia blames the us and its allies for israel's massive of palestinians in the gaza strip, the american politicians are pos to sease fire.
