tv SPOTLIGHT GAZA ONSLAUGHT UNABATED PRESSTV October 31, 2023 6:02am-6:29am IRST
6:02 am
hello and welcome to cv spotlight, thanks so much for being with us, the israeli regime will never recover from what happened to it on, october the 7th, the palestinian recent operation on it, or what has happened to it since then? it has been failure after failure, yes the regime has killed over 8300 people, but it doesn't take military or strategic expertise to bomb civilians and homes. their image, design image that they spend hundreds of millions on trying to create, you know the one, the only democratic country in the region with most moral military in the world, has not just tornished, but has totally disintegrated.
6:03 am
it's invincibility has been shown to be anything but that that even today, day 23, the palestinian resistance repelled and israeli incursion into gaza and destroyed several tanks. i want to welcome my guest to the program and look at various aspects of this genocide on gaza, but also on the resistance. i'd like to welcome charlotte kates, coordinate samadun palestinian and prisoner solidarity network out of vancouver. of and don dabar activists and commentator out of new york. thank you both for being with me, please to see both of you. well, i start this off with charlotte. i mean, charlotte, israel has become a paper tiger. is this connected to washington's loss of power globally or not? how do you see it? well, i think it's very clear that what we're seeing taking place in palestine today is... is, it
6:04 am
is genocide, but it is genocide being carried out by a wounded beast that has taken serious and indeed mortal blows from the palestinian resistance and from the rising power of peoples around the world confronting imperialism and zionism, and so the response that we have seen to the uh tremendous action of the palestinian resistance on october 7 has been incomparable outrage by the zionist regime, the united states, france, germany, britain, uh, canada and their partners in or to call for all kinds of violence and destruction against the palestinian civilian population, um, in order to try to do anything to suppress the truth that was revealed on october 7th, which kind of showcased the strategic and military weakness or incapability of the zionist regime, despite all of these billions of dollars.
6:05 am
weaponry provided every year by the united states, um, the occupation regime was not capable of meaningfully fighting back when it had to fight on the ground versus soldiers, على so it said it's resorted to the only power that it has, which is carpet volving civilians from the sky and carrying out genocide against the palestinian population. yes, indeed, well donne, now the the us has responded to all of this by sending aircraft carriers, generals serving as advisors, may say troops. actually american troops on the ground, although us vice president camila harris has denied this, according to the washington post two aircraft carries and their associated escort ship hawling some 50,000 personnel combined have been sent, also task force of 4,000 marines and sailors have been repositioned and another two port troops have been put on alert, what do you make of all this, and as an american, i mean what's going on here? you had to go and call me that, didn't you? well yeah, hide is done,
6:06 am
um, there's a lot, there's a lot to all of this, um, let's go back to september 22nd, when uh trudeau and zelensky, he was on his last money grubbing tour, uh, were caught uh praising an ss of you, retired former 90 something year old ss, uh, you know, jewish person killer, nazi from world war ii in the in the canadian parliament, right, and an awful huge uh blowback from that politically for the us war against russia which is his major project at the moment um and politically for the us generally in in the context of everything else that's been going on um here we are uh you know what eight days plus 30 uh so uh 38 days later and we have um an article in in the uh jewish chronicle today for example uh that basically points
6:07 am
out that this riot that took place in dagistan, which russia says instigated by uh ukrainian intelligence, which means us intelligence, um, had people writing and and looking for a jewish people coming in a plane supposedly um and so this article says that uh you know there's a tweet from one guy who's famous on twitter talking about pograms in the history of russia and then it says quote: the jewish president of ukraine vladimir zelinski condemned the mob saying video from russia where angry mob broken to the airport searching for israeli citizens is not an isolated incident, rather part of... widespread culture of hatred, in other words everything that they were caught doing, they're trying to push off on russia, and that happens in the context of the going on, and it was, it's like all these things that they that are going on, the incessant land theft in palestine, the extinction, the genocide in in the apartite state that exists
6:08 am
there, and the incessant drive towards capturing russia that began with hitler, really, and the us has been doing, trying to do ever since, they're on the run in both places and and it looks like somebody tried to make a grand stroke and fix all of it, but it's really dangerous moment because they can't fix it. right, well, at least not in the way that they're trying to do it. um, charlotte, your, i mean, i've been talking um throughout the day about this this uh the israeli regime losing the narrative. now you talked about more and more people taking to the streets and the outrage um that has happened, because i mean we're we're... watching genocide um real-time uh on our television screens i mean do you think that the israeli regime can recover from this of course as don has just pointed out they're constantly trying to put out false claims and again trying to play the victim card but your
6:09 am
overall assessment now you're in vancouver i don't how many demonstration of you guys have had demonstrations in vancouver um i have seen out of toronto but overall what's your assessment oh we've just we had our last demonstration on saturday and once again there were over 5000 people on the streets, which is a tremendous number here in vancouver to come out for anything. um, many people who were participating said largest demonstration they'd ever been to in vancouver, so or at least largest demonstration since the uh movement against the iraq war over 20 years ago, so these uh demonstrations in vancouver and toronto and montreal, of course cities throughout the us and cities throughout europe have been uh ballooning inside, i mean last week in in london there were over 500,000 people on the streets, there were hundred thousand out in madrid, it's a tremendous amount of support and solidarity with palestine. of course, if you uh turned on state media or corporate media, you would be bombarded with nothing more than propaganda to promote and justify genocide um, taking place by the zionist
6:10 am
regime with the full support of the us, canadian, british, german and french governments, um, but the fact is that people are not relying on what the media is telling them, in fact quite skeptical about the lies. deception that the that have been promoted um since october 7th and of course before and on so many other issues um i mean from the war on iraq to uh the the drive to push for the destruction of syria, the destruction of libya, i mean all of these things are things that were promoted through media lives, and what we can see from these numbers in the streets that people simply aren't falling for the media lives anymore, and they're recognizing that this is genocide that's happening right now and that people have a responsibility to take action and to stop it rather than to allow it to continue, i mean right now there's 17 member of parliament offices in canada that are being occupied by supporters of palestine calling for an end canadian complicity and zionist war crimes uh just this morning there were uh milit like military facilities uh weapons manufacturers albet systems in cambridge that uh there was
6:11 am
a direct action by palestine action us to shut it down there this came the same day that people were blocking military contractors in toronto and copenhagen as well so in addition the big mass demonstrations there's a rise in direct actions directly confronting the involvement of the war machine and these ongoing crimes that are taking place in palestine so what we can see is that like a mass popular level the question is very clear people are not coming out in masses and thousands and tens and hundreds of thousands to stand with zionist occupation regime people are coming out to stand with the palestinian people and this is this is you create a real crisis and because it is impossible to come back from the reality that people are seeing in real life in front of their. eyes um, on social media, despite all the censorship that exists, people are hearing directly from palestinians in gaza, people are hearing directly when people's internet and communications are silenced, when people they've followed and read and become friends with for years are bombed and are no longer, their lives and their families are god. i mean, this is a
6:12 am
reality for people, and it's not possible to just kind of bundle it all up into propaganda and wish it away, and so no, i don't think it's possible for um the the zious regime to... kind of launderous image again, so instead what these states are relying on is repression, trying to ban demonstrations, florida governor ronde santotus threatening students for justice in palestine, german police attack. hacking demonstrations and banning them, the french interior minister threatening left his political parties with terrorism prosecutions for speaking up about how palestinians have a right to resist, they can't win people over through persuasion, so they're trying to force people over through constructing a police state in order to defend uh the settler colony and occupied palestine, well what about that done? i mean, we are seeing the hegemonic front go full force uh with their support of the genicidal regime this time, not that they didn't support it before, but they try to have somewhat of a simblance of a say of scal
6:13 am
process and human rights and the jargon that they usually use, but this time around, i mean we're 23 days into this, and not even asking for a ceasefire, humanitarian ceasefire, i mean it's as if everything is just out in the open and forget palestinian life, just go for it and we have to show up the israel regime no matter what it takes. so last. for example the general assembly uh debates and votes a resolution, pretty generic resolution, not blaming anyone other than saying, sease fire, sit down and negotiate, this is very dangerous thing and it's a very bad thing that's going on, it should stop, um, the united states, israel and 12 other countries voted against it in the 193 member uh general assembly, out of the 12 that voted against it, six are... part the island chain that the us used as a nuclear testing ground in the 1950s and 60s,
6:14 am
so they're generally pretty compliant, marshall islands, lao etc. um, the other six, you had some of the newly uh new nato members of former warsaw pact members like um croatia and the czech republic and and some others, the baltics, um, the world is against this, further, however, it's one thing to... abstained like most of the other european uh countries did, or to you to vote yes, but to do nothing to prevent the slaughter from happening. you have a condition uh across europe for example, where the people were already in the street or what's going on in ukraine, where they suffered now 50 something years of austerity, of declining standard of living, exacerbated over the last two or three years by the war in ukraine where they have to decide now for almost two years whether they eat or turn on the heat um and they are the golden billion or whatever out of much of the rest of the world, you got a place like saudi arabia where uh the
6:15 am
government was about to make some sort of a partnership deal uh with israel and the general population is ready to run to gaz to defend it, um, there's going to be some governments that are going to be tipped over by the people themselves if they don't come down on the right side with some actual action, this this is a period of great instability and it's going to likely be one of great change um and i think that the governments need to be paying close attention to their people and start doing what the people want to trying to find ways to repress them because you can only repress people so far history shows us no one has ever been successfully repressed permanently unless you killed all of them right the palestinians are showing us that indeed indeed and and charlotte i mean we've been talking about the genocide taking place in gaza i want to switch gears a little bit at the west bank because as all the focus is on gas and if it should be uh with this unprecedented situation as taken. played there, at the same time, the repression is so intense, so much more intense now, in the west bank, as we
6:16 am
know, 270 people have been killed this whole year, 122 since october the 7th have been killed in the west bank and they're being cut off from um towns, i was talking to a couple of people in various areas earlier, and and their lives are absolutely hell, and of course and have been, it's not new, it's just a little... more intense right now while the world is looking elsewhere your thoughts on that and of course one of the main excuses we we know the israel regime hamas and there's no hamas there in the west bank but go ahead well i mean um the the the settler tacks are going are running rampant you know throughout uh throughout the west bank uh sellerers have been you know officially deputized into these militas so just giving them kind of cart blanch which they already had even more openly to continue their violent attacks against the palestinian population as a whole. we're also seeing these repeated. violent military incursion. since the 7th of october, there have been an additional 1650
6:17 am
palestinian political prisoners uh seized by uh zinous forces invading every single night. there have been over 100 marters in the west bank since the 7th of october, just yesterday, there were four murders whose lives were taken by the occupation. there was massive invasion of janne camp where um you saw that the occupying army was met with massive resistance and it was forced to withdraw from the camp, but at the same time you had um they took uh this metal horse that had been constructed in 2002 in the central square ingenine refugee camp had been constructed out of the the wreckage of ambulance. that had been destroyed by the occupation military during their 2002 invasion of jane, and so they they took a buldozer with the crane and arrested this horse, and they they took a huge buldoser, they demolished the arches at the entry to janin camp, thinking that by destroying these symbols of resistance, they're somehow going to undermine the resistance of the palestinian people, which is deeply rooted
6:18 am
the population, of course there are palestinian resistance from al khassam in the west bank, but also from islamic he had. the pfp from feta uh, all of the palestinian political forces and resistance forces are united and confronting the occupation and are united in confronting yacupashan and the west bank and throughout occupied palestine from the river to the sea. well don, we've seen this rogue entity, not just what is doing of course in in gaza and the west bank, we see regularly attacking syria, we also now see it uh dealing with attacks in lebanon, and of course now hezbullah has also dealt. with uh responding to those attacks, how likely is that this whole situation will expand and explode in the region? it's it's israel's intent for it to expand, because it's israel's intent to expand its territory, mean it's not a secret, they have and netanyahu was holding one of them up at the un, a
6:19 am
couple of weeks ago, last week, guess, mint press news released today uh a uh document that said was verified an advisory document from the the ministry of intelligence at uh intel avive dated october 13th. gaza's residencets may be forced to relocate to egypt and it said quote, it would yield positive results and long term, positive and long-term strategic results, close-quote, that the plan is ethnically cleanse as much land as they can around that which they hold now, and we now looking at the program of designs going all the way back to the 19th century, israel's pretty big play. in their mind and they got the military where with all to try to grab it and it's a threat everyone else in the area, it's a threat to iran, it's a threat to syria, they bomb syria regularly, so you know, they're doing this because they want to steal more land and they want to drive people, they don't mind killing people and mass in order to accomplish that because god said it's their end. yes, we we've heard uh netanyahu quoting from the bible to
6:20 am
justify uh his genocide this, the int is genocide this week. i only have a minute, charlotte. your perspective, i mean, where do you see this going, um, as again, today was day 23, over 8300 people have been killed in gaza alone, um, the western hegemonic front is not asking uh for uh, even a humanitarian seats fire, but the people of the world, civil societies throughout the world are becoming more and more outraged, one minute, your take, absolutely, the one thing that's very clear is that the... "the zist regime has been able to with the support of the us and its partners, has been able to extract tremendously awful price from the palestinian civilian population and is intent on carrying out a full-scale genocide in gaza. at the same time it is also clear that this regime is inable of carrying out a land invasion and that it will be that every time that this army is forced to confront fighters on the ground, it faces defeats, it faces losses,
6:21 am
and that we can have confidence in the strength of the palestinian resistance and the and in the resistance forces in the region to repel this genocide and to repel this attack and we also need to get out there on the streets and do everything that we can to make to intervene to stop these assaults which are you know damaging harming civilian population and stand in solidarity with the resistance that is bravely defending humanity in the face of injustice. on that note, i think both of you for being with me, charlet cades coordinator palestinian prisoner solidarity network out of vancouver. don debar, activist and commentator out of new york. and as always we appreciate our viewers being with us right here on press tv hope to see you right here same time tomorrow goodbye.
