10:03 pm
the israely war on gaza has turned 34 days. this is a colossal failure of world mechanisms meant to stop the genocide of a population, which has passed the 10,800 mark. the us has continued arming the israeli regime, the latest being precision bombs meant to reduce civilian casualties. this is while the us president joe biden has said there is no possibility of a ceasefire, although apparently an agreement for four-hour military pause each day in the northern gaza strip has been raised. however, the palestinian fanctions including hamas have not agreed to that uh pause. meanwile the world has shifted and has realized what the israeli palestinian conflict is all about as they slam us and the western governments for supporting israel and this genocidal war, especially the us military support. these are the guests for this edition of the spotlight. is a palestinian, scientist and author who joins us from occupied romala. also joining
10:04 pm
us masud shajar, chairman of the islamic human rights commission, who joins us from tehran. welcome gentlemen. let me first start with you and ask you what you think about what israel has announced through the white house, which is this four-hour pauses in the northern gaza, starting today, in order, as they have said to allow palestinians to flee hostilities. this has not been uh confirmed by hamas or the palestinian factions, i must say, at the same time. the us president joe biden made sure to say we will not agree to a ceasefire. uh, indeed, i'm speaking to you from bethlehem by the way, in the west bank, where 18 palestinians were killed today, and a just an hour ago israel bombed the outskirts of the indonesiasian hospital, killing and injuring scores of people. this is what they call pose in the fighting. oppos in the
10:05 pm
fighting, maybe israel is pressure now and feels the pressure from loss of its tanks, so it is the one who could use four-hour pose so they can catch their breath, but but in terms of the killing of civilians, whether in the west bank or in gaza, this will go on unabbated, and i totally predict that whatever the four hours come and go tomorrow or tonight or whatever that there will be killing of palestinian civilians during those hours because you know they even the for defense so-called defense minister of israel had just come on interview and said that we're not posing our we we continue to use our air force and so this is meaningless really it's a it's sort of like this humanitarian trucks that us supposedly
10:06 pm
pressured israel to allow some humanitarian trucks to come in, this is tokenism, it is not stopping the genocide, which is now happening at accelerated rate. all right, master, to continue with this line, you know, this could me a lot of things, it could mean uh based on the videos that we have seen the resistance fighters to have published that israel is suffering defeat by israel's own. they have lost 34 soldiers, however we know that israel always under announces the number of israeli soldiers killed, and also in terms of the tanks and their military equipment, tanks have been destroyed, i think the number is over 30 at this point, and again that number could be a low uh estimate, what do you think about this pause that has been announced, which again i must say that the resistance factions including hamas has not confirmed yet, and agreed to. whichever way
10:07 pm
you look at this, this is a g and is is outrageous gym, because there is war crime going on, there is genocide taking place, and then you say that in a 24 hours a day is going to be four hours polls from genocide and 20 hours going back to commit those genocide systematically trying to cleanse palestinians from their land yes yet again this is outrageous to actually look at this proposal this gimmik as anything other than sort of a process to continue the genocide rather than ceasefire and stopping this genocide is actually something that shows that united states, let alone israel are are bankrupt, compassion is nothing there, and
10:08 pm
the are morally totally bankrupt, and i think the world needs to look it exactly as it is, and ask. why at this 11th hour when is very clear genocide and genocidal act is happening our in our off we could even sort of accept the excuse or or this schemic that four hours is going to be four hours break so they could catch their breaths so they could actually go and kill more people in the next 20 hours after that this is outrageous i i really don't believe. um the level of hypocrisy and the complicity in committing genocide from united states and the international community ie, mostly the western nations. indeed, well it could be looked that way definitely um and another reason they have given behind this is
10:09 pm
to uh make sure that the palestinians uh from the north go to the south. now we've been uh, not only today but for the past days on numerous occasions played. videos of the people who actually were uh on their way there and then uh decided to come back because they saw dead bodies on the way there aside from the fact that there have been bombardments in the southern gaza strip uh so they are reluctant and they're afraid uh that israel is going to target them that this is means of pulling them out from the north to go to the south uh tell us tell us obviously the justification that they have for that and also what is what is to deal with israel's approach towards the northern gaza strip at this point? i mean, what we see, before this exodus of many palestinians from the north to the south, there were more palestinians of course, north of wadi gazza and there is
10:10 pm
south of wadi gazza, approximately 1.6 million palestinians were in the north, and the rest about 1.1 million or one one million were in the south of gaza. strip, but the rate of bombings i'm talking about before the recent exodus was actually higher in the south than it was in the north in terms of residential buildings, for example, 46% of all bombings of residential buildings happened in the southern regions of the ghaza strip, which has about as i said 40, 42% of the population of the gaza. so israel was carpet bombing gaza regardless whether it's north, south, east, west, as mentioned by the other guest correctly, that this is systematic genocide that's happening 24 hours a day, people can't even sleep because the
10:11 pm
airplanes are bombings every few minutes in different places, mean the ridiculousness of calling this attack on hamas is shown by the fact that when you have over 120,000 targets, if each one of them just has one hamas member, then we are talking about 120,000 soldiers, i mean that's an army, that couldn't be, so obviously israel was targeting civilians to decimate civilians and this is what they they themselves, israeli leaders have said that they were doing, i could send you quote after quote of saying that... gaza doesn't have innocent civilians or gaza we should we cut the water on them and the electricity and food because they are human animals and so on and so forth surents to justify slower sure well when you talk
10:12 pm
about the the numbers here uh maybe it's a good time to actually talk about i think the latest mas shajar was either 35,00 or 38,000 tons of ammunition that has been uh thrown inside the ghaza strip, i mean when you when you take a look at that figure, and and i'm sure you've heard of the comparisons that have been made to the uh, it being equivalent of... not more than the atomic bomb thrown in uh nagasaki, and also the fact that the us just few days back made announcement that they're going to provide israel with precision bombs. what about that announcement? it really comes at an odd time and i say odd because they reasoning they gave was to reduce civilian casualties, so they waited 30 plus days after 10,000 palestinians were killed to make that announcement, it just uh defies logic. look, there is there is no logic, there is no
10:13 pm
logic, brilliant, tension of actually committing genocide and cleansing, it's something that was already in the plans that was drawn before these incidents, months and years ago, by this present government, and it was a... policy of ethnic cleansing and afraid to say final solution and this is why there's been sort of one of the reasons why there's been a sort of opposition internally in israel because this government is extreme with bells on and and the announcement that war crime is the purpose ethnic cleansing is the purpose is very well established. so for the united states and anyone else giving gifts of any sort of weapon under the
10:14 pm
international law, as you know, anyone or government or institution or group and creating the environment where war crime could take place is equally responsible as the ones who are committing the war crime, so by that definition, united state, britain, france, and these western allies. are indeed are committing war crimes, they're given gift to com crimes, they know the intention is there, the intention is there, how do we know by the statement of the netanyahu and others in high position within the government, so really i i don't don't think these are any more debates, the reality is this is going on and despite the fact that is so clear that this is war crime, this is genocide, and these are genocidal act, the the the sort of
10:15 pm
americans are trying to get away with it, that's why there is so much pressure been building within united states, within britain, within germany, france, because people are not just supporting the palestinians, they're outraged by their own government, duplicity and involved and support of genocide, sure, well, let's... see if we can understand what the aims are for the northern ghaza strip massing, you know you have on the one hand that uh netanyahu has said it wants to take indefinite security responsibility, he has said that, but biden has said, well we advise against what he called reoccupation. then the us secretary of state, he said two things are clear, hamas cannot remain in power, that's one, and israel has no desire to reoccupy gaza. so what is it, what do they want to do, what is their approach towards northern gaza? well,
10:16 pm
even before this latest conflict started in october 7th, israel has already laid out very clearly what their intention, long term are. in fact, netanyahu showed the maps at the united nations few months ago, where israel dominates the middle east where they provide an alternative to the belt and highway, the chinese project that one trillion dollars were spent on it that connects uh asia with europe through iran and turkey and israel wanted to create an alternative to this that runs through israel through an alternative suish canal also that replaces the egyptian suish canal by connecting the gulf of baba to the mediterranean through the through gaza so gaza was to be ethnically cleansed and the plans for ethnic cleansing of gaza and removing the people to the sainai were
10:17 pm
already in the book on the books long before this latest conflict, so so that was the plan because vadi gaza also is the main route that it will go through this canal, there's also the gas fields offer the coast of gaza and israel is already making contracts to exploit these fields in collaboration with the regime of cc in egypt, this is what they are trying to plan and have been planning for a long time, the resistance is what s against this project and stopped it basically and now they are this interim transfer of the northern gaza population to the south was kind of a compromised to with the americans, the american wants basically to say, look, we are preventing israel from ethnic cleansing, they're just moving people temporarily to the
10:18 pm
south, this is ridiculous, temporarily to the south, why not move them temporarily to the north? or to the negative, for example, if you are concerned about safety, no, they're moving closer to the exit to go to the sai, this is the plan, and and it is being tried to be put in place, but i think the resistance is not letting them, and this is why it's frustrating to them, that people are not leaving, even as they are butchered in large numbers, sure, do you agree with that, master shatter, i mean what are guess? talks about is something that's not stated as much, it has been touched on, it has been covered, that's about the gas fields, first of all of palestine, of which the gaza strip is entitled to uh a large portion of that, in terms, not a large portion, but a portion of that, and second of all is that imec uh corridor which was discussed at the g20, in india, of which there's a major investment
10:19 pm
there, which would uh connect uh different uh, i guess cities and towns, but this was a way. for the us to uh bring the so-called normalization between israel and saudi arabia, but of course now i believe that that's now collateral damage, um, but the gas fields are important here, do you think um, but but the bigger question is, is israel after uprooting palestinians from the gaza strip all together? yes, there is going to say, there are plans both for economic. reason and also ideological reason, when you look at what is been happening in the in last year and and so you see very clearly on one side there are actually are planning these sort of economical sort of plans which indeed needs ethnic cleansing of the palestinians from gaza, but also ideologically beyond
10:20 pm
gaza, this particular extreme government. "it's actually coming up with ideology that palestinians have to be removed, they have to go all everywhere else, either they should be killed or removed, and their lives does not matter, what we are seeing being unleashed is result of that, what we are seeing is not something that happens on the seventh as cause, we need to look at beyond that, we need to look at that the year preceeding these attacks, more. palestinians were killed all over occupied territories than ever before, so this is part and parcel of that project, this is now an excuse to sort of implement that project and united states and the west, they know what's going on, and indeed, people in israel know what's going
10:21 pm
on, and and people around the world are waking up to this, this is why we are seeing such huge, sort of outrage right across the world and we need to ensure that this whole episode is not going to be blaying on the resistance, the project implement these policies was already in place, already we are seeing we were saying that more and more people were being killed and really um the resistance had no option to try to stop this this madness, this ethnic cleansing, and and this is a result of those extreme policies, rather than extreme policy is a result of the action of the resistance. all right, i need to ask you, since you're in occupied ramala massaya, what is going on there, you talked about the janin refugee camp, i think, in
10:22 pm
reference to how you said there were 18 palestinians that were killed there, the videos were shocking and there was a reaction that came from hamas and the agasan brigades, so far we're looking at 168 people who have been killed there since october 7th, and we know how tense the situation is between the palestinians and the israelis there, what are we looking at over there um in terms of uh this crisis that obviously is now elevated to to to high degree? well, what is happening here in the west bank, as i mentioned, i'm in betlem actually, not ramala, but anyway. is in jeine in the north and in tulkarim, there were some killings today, so the total is 18 people, of whom 14 are engineen, that were bombed for the first time using drones, israeli drones basically from the air, not with israeli soldiers on the ground, and the
10:23 pm
shooting then by by the israeli snipers have killed more palestinians, but in any case what's happening basically is very simple, the west bank will become gaza, this is what israel promises us, the... they actually dropped leaflets on ginn saying that and their government had said it, they said to the palestinians, just like you said to the lebanes, don't resist, because if you resist you will see what happens to you is genocide and flattering of your cities, this is the they reminded us of 2000 one israeli military went in and bombed lot of schools, lot of you know infrastructure. water streets, everything here, just like they are doing in gaza, now a much larger scale, of course, so this is the threat that is imposed on us and
10:24 pm
that we can get away with it, israel is saying this, we can get away with it, because we have the worst, you know, giving us backing, israel, united states, france, england, germany, those are giving us backing, this is, this is the reality and what i will... try to get through, but they don't understand that the fear factor is already gone and they are losing at every front, at the diplomatic front, at the political front, at the military front, that even you know public relations has mentioned that there's demonstrations in the millions around the world, the they're bogged down and losing at every front, so the only tool they have. left is this, this this uh you know air force that can bomb civilian areas, that's the only tool they have, so they continue to
10:25 pm
do that, and they know they can't get to the resistance doing this, so they want to butcher as many people as they can, i think that's what the world needs to put a stop to, and i think they can put a stop to it, with sanctions, boycot devestments and other actions and also. if the resistance forces uh work with russia and china as they should to develop air defenses against those you know those use of of carpet bombings on civilian areas that's would be moral decision to do to protect civilians all right in a in a minute or less master shajar please um it's unfortunate that the death toll as it climbs is bringing out more people on the streets all across the world in shock that this genocide and masker is taking place, where
10:26 pm
when will that threshold pass where the governments will enforce, for example what our guests are talked about, boycotting israel, diplomatically, politically and product-wise, is there a will for that? yes, there is, i think what we are witnessing is that in the western so-called governments including us and europe, the politicians are thinking about their own personal interest and they're committing these because that will further the political korea. we need to punish politicians by masses, sort of voting against them because what is happening now in london, paris, new york is what was what is happening in in the dictatorship where the... leaders are going against the interest of the their own people, against what is just and these sort of policies, they have to punish,
10:27 pm
and i think what we are seeing is that in in the highlight what is going to happen in near future, this politicians, beat biden or anybody else is going to be punished a ballot box, and when that happens, complete change, that change should bring justice as... rather than personally, all right, i'm sorry to have interrupted you, thank you so much, master shajar, chairman of the islamic human rights commission, spoke to us from tehran, pleasure to see you and thank you for your input, palestinian scientist and author uh who spoke to us, thank you to you both, with that we come to an end for this edition of the spotlight from the team, it's goodbye.

the headlines, the israely military keeps pounding the besieg troop with resistance forces engaging in fierce street battles with invading troops. palestinians have filed a formal complaint with iaa against the israeli regime over its minister's threat to nuke the gaza strip. and palestinian resistance groups have condemned israel's latest deadly raid on agene refugee camp in the occupied west bank.
