tv   Gaza Under Attack  : PRESSTV  November 20, 2023 12:02am-12:30am IRST

12:02 am
is still not bringing the ceasfire that we need, you know, on on the mass scale that we need it to be. we have these brave men and women who have put themselves in harm's way outside the democratic national committee's um building and they are being pulled apart by police, look at the harm that is coming towards these elderly men and women um being thrown down the stairs in some cases and fences being just you know loosely thrown of around, it's "this is, this is the system that we live in where the police are protecting the oppressors and they are not protecting those um people that pay their taxes, those people that are the something up here, the dnc headquarters, this is where you have the great and the good of the democratic party, right? the party that's in charge in america at the moment, from which president joe biden emerges right, and i think their voters are now saying, if we expected anyone." just like the conservatives here, we
12:03 am
expect the republican to be bought and paid for by apac, by other zianist lobbies groups, but we expect at least some of you to be speaking out, we expect at least the few of you brave and the good who have always said you stand for something else, that you can see the world picture, you can see a wider uh context to all of this, they're afraid of these protesters outside because they know how you going to look your const'. in the eye and say we are not voting for a ceasefire, we are not putting pressure on not just the republicans but on tel aviv, because we're bought and paid for and it's sadly not your money we're worried about, we're worried about our apek money and our other lobbying money, you know there are laws in america in most of the states that will um give you prison time if you boycot an israeli brand, um, imagine, imagine as business in america that there are laws protecting you from boycotting and a foreign brand than
12:04 am
boycotting your own home domestic goods and and services because they're more inservitude of of tel aviv than washington, some might argue. all right, let's roll the other bit of action here, because it's now international, is it not? you know, fire is catching, and we can see it that in this capacity, the people have risen, they have chosen to just disregard their um, their complicity in this, if their tax money. is being paid uh to the services in this country that will protect buildings that promote genocide, they're not having it, they are rising up and they're getting rid of any institutions that are so um in line with what's happening um in ghaza with what's happening with the genocide of the palestinians. i support and i applaud these courageous men and women, not just in the philippines, but in lebanon, when we saw it in iraq, when we see it in in london, when we it palestine action and also of course
12:05 am
when we're seeing it in america, because this shows that the lies are just being, they're being viewed, but they're ultimately being dismissed, and i think there is a groundswell here of individuals who say listen, anything of i can do, even if it means putting my physical self on the line, to make point here that these guys, especially in the us, inside the philippines are not welcome, and we take it from the... international to the very personal, to the sacrifices that are being made in gaza by families who sometimes wake up to the worst possible news latifa? the one thing that we know that has been consistent throughout this time in gazza is the resilience and the strength and the spirit of these incredible palestinian people, and this is something that's become a staple, um, a worldwide phenomenon that people have sought their own um strength and comfort. during
12:06 am
this time as viewers of the genocide to just see these these these golden hearted, pure-hearted individuals, rise above the pain and see the bigger picture. let's have look at the inspiration that they've been having, حسبنا الله ونعم الوكيل مين استشهد اخوي اللي استشهد يعني عادي جدا ما علينا راح شهيد انايا عندنا بس انا بدي اياجي هذا الفيديو للاعلام كله ولحكم العرب بالتخصيق حسبنا الله ونعم الوكيل في كل الحكام العرب شايفين الموقف كثير انا اليوم فقدت اخوي يمكن افقد نفسي بكره يمكن افقد نفسي بعده مش عارف بس انا كل اللي بقوله ان اخوي راح شهيد والحمد لله وانا لله وانا اليه راجعون حسبنا الله ونعم الوكيل العرب حسبنا الله ونعم الوكيل حسبنا الله ونعم الوكيل بقلب صاف حسبنا الله ونعم الوكيل وانا لله وانا اليه راجعون واللهم اجرني في في مصيبتي واجعلني من الصار and now we only have few seconds to
12:07 am
tie this up, but how how moving? explain what's just happened there? this young man has has just lost his his brother and um in and the first thing that he says is thank you god and he's and he's filled with with hope and happiness not number one because we know the um the status of of a martter it's so grand you know do not consider these people as dead nay they are alive you know they they hold such a grand position to the honor of dying for you know something that you believe in something so um it's it's and they are your family you know how how proud you must be but also this is reality of the people of ghaza and there is there is no family that has left unscahed from the decades of genocide here um and so what we see here is is the typical reaction to martidom um by any ghazan that number one that they are grateful and number two they are sad but they
12:08 am
understand that the justice um and reward and peace and liberation will come from god and that they place their faith in him wonderful absolutely perfection. a way to end this segment, latifa abu we'll be back with more from the online conversation next time, now in keeping with the conversations we've been having around pro-palestinian advocacy, we're exploring the censorship that is still taking place in media and public spaces on the issue, earlier we spoke with nazmina danji, she's the founder of arabic. online and an advocate for palestinian rights and we asked her what challenges she faces in the present climates in the uk where i've been out to protest or petitions or written letters, it's mainly the local mps and the local counselors
12:09 am
who are you know they they have this fixed narrative that tows the line of the government that they're not willing to change, you know, and that that's where i feel the main resistance is is that. "the paths that we have to make our voices heard are actually blocked, so it's very frustrating because you see the pointlessness the system right, where one feels that they don't actually have a voice, they're not represented in parliament, you know, so that that's where i feel some of the resistances, you know, the stubborn resistance from the tories, their supporters, people who generally aren't in favor of brand causes anyway, so that's what i would call the active resistance, but there's also the resistance." i feel and you may not call it resistance, but the general apathy of muslims, you know, just going about their business, not caring, i don't know whether they're waiting for permission from somebody, from you know, some someone higher up, some kind of command, but i find this kind of
12:10 am
willful ignorance, you know, where people are still seeing this as an arab issue as a middle eastern issue, or something that's too politically complex that they don't want to get involved in. you know that i feel this apathy and people not seeing that it's a humanitarian crisis you know they're not seeing that you don't have to be palestinian or arab or muslim or brown to call it out you know so that apathy i feel as a resistance i feel lack of unity amongst us all is a real problem you know there's no unified and concentrated effort what i'm seeing on the ground is lots of little groups you know doing their bit. the whatsapp groups, the local groups and things like that, but there's no unified, concerted effort, i personally feel, you know, there's a there's a lack of leadership, find, even on social media, i'm thinking, where are all the popular speakers with huge followings, you
12:11 am
know, apart from few tweets, few reshares, few roundtable discussions, there's no directives or statements or you know, everyone must show up, you know, everyone must. or everyone must do this. nasmina also talked about what she thinks is the way forward for political mobilization of the rights of palestinians. you know, it's a numbers game and the more people we can mobilize and the more, you know, the more that people see the social proof that the average joe, the the humans around care, i'm sure it does lot to put pressure politically. um these popular demonstrations, the pushback from the people on the ground makes a huge difference, but i also feel like you know, where it comes to policy, we we're losing out because there's not, there's not that representation, and again i feel that our votes are really important, the muslim vote,
12:12 am
the brown vote is very important, and if in the upcoming elections, you know, that could be mobilized and strategized properly, um, you know where we could use our votes to really make a difference rather than just spoiling them or rather than just you know if if there was a strategic move, i'm no politician by any stretch of the imagination, um, i think that would... so useful, you know, where people knew exactly what they're supposed to do to make a real difference. back with my guess carol swords and mark wadsworth on this edition of gaza under attack. uh, mark, we heard nasmina there express some of the obstacles she's observed in regards to advocacy for palestinians. i mean, i know you've had to deal with your own examples, mark, well. quite frankly, the americans and their proxy in the middle east,
12:13 am
the israeli leadership, the zionist regime there, are losing the propaganda war, on the internet in social media, we've heard from previous contributors, it's now overwhelmingly against their genocide and what they're up to, and so we can draw some strength from that, that we shouldn't be depressed and think that it's all one way, the more this goes on, the more they'll become isolated by this behavior, by the occupation, by the genocide and what's going on. carol, it seems that there still is when it comes to establishment thinking and establishment politics, the pro-palestinian voice is still very much struggling to get any kind. a paroty, of course, it's like what the what what the media is keep saying that
12:14 am
we're causing trouble, can can i just go back to please, feel free to go back as far as you wish, my mom is jewish, she's proud jew, she is very proud jew, her father was jewish, he was come here after the first world war and they sat up home in england and they was graciously accepted, my mum married a catholic, i was brought up a catholic. you know, i had mixed heritage, and i was proud of my mum's family, i was proud of my family, and my mom's ashamed, my mom's nearly 90, and she's ashamed of being a jew, she's ashamed of what people might say or do to her or spit her, she's scared, because this propaganda putting out on, these antisemitic this and the anti-semitic that, which are not true, they're not true, i i live an area where there's it's multi multi multi, i live in the
12:15 am
east end where the majority of jews settled there, you know, so we've got generations of kids with jewish grandparents, my cousins i got bengali cousins with a jewish grandfather, come on, this this is the this is what it's like now, and she's sad, she's she she's crying every night, she's nearly 90, and it's it's not about jud. them, it's not about anything, it's about nazis, i they're like not, they're worse than nazis, they're worse than nazis, because the nazis thought no one knew what they was doing, we know what the israels are doing, we know what they're doing, and they're still doing it, they don't care, they i don't know, i don't where the boundary line is, is there a line, i don't know, when you know when they finish doing what they're doing there, where who's next? they decide, maybe we're going to take the rest of syria, or maybe we're going to
12:16 am
take the rest of jordan, or maybe we maybe we're even got to go a little bit further and take saudi arabia, where is the line, where does it stop? there is no line, and do you feel that the the the establishment push back from here just simply supporting it? yes, is i don't understand, i don't understand why these news cards can sit there and go, well where would the hammer says? this and the hammer like why do you have to apologize, why do you have to apologize for someone defending theirself and they calling it a war? it's not a war, this is not a war, looking at every dictionary, you see the war, two sides, equal sides, not man and beast, it's not, it's it unbelievable, how can you put baby and incubator against a missile that weighs 200 tons, that's not. a war, that's a massacre, and it has to stop, and the narrative of poor israel has to stop, the
12:17 am
poor anti-samits, semetic, it has to stop, and the only way it's going to stop, if our nous, the people tell the truth, and stop building up the propaganda, it's it's it's not, this propaganda war is even bigger than the war that's happening in gaza, and some would say it's been uked more, lot of resources place behind it. stay right there, carl cuz we are going to um continue the theme a little bit, because some might say, in the corner that's opposing the us in britain is russia, and the country's foreign minister sergey. on thursday called for immediate end to the bloodchet in gaza and a resolution to the humanitarian situation there and in the west bank, speaking a joint news conference with his visiting venezuelan counterpart ivan kill, lavroff said issues were screaming in the gaza strip and in the west bank. we insist on an immediate end to
12:18 am
the budget. and an immediate solution to the humanitarian problems that are literally screaming in the ghaza strip and now also in the west bank. little is said or written about the west bank of the jordan river now because all attention is focused on the gaza strip, but there are also dozens of casualties there. we affirm our position on the need to sit down at the negotiating table. and agree on the creation of a palestinian state immediately after the fighting has stopped, and the humanitarian needs of the residents of the ghaza strip have been met. fahema muhammad is back with follow-up to her first offering of palestine in the media, and fahiima, we're keeping that theme coming about what constitutes propaganda, because sometimes it's the
12:19 am
omission of evidence, the omission of the truth. absolutely, uh, we have. have um sky news, we've got mark stone with an important reminder, and again echoing what everyone's already been saying, we'll hear see and hear that video now, and it's quite interesting that he actually has to say this military and when we go in with them we have to abide by their restrictions, that means we only film what they allow us to film, we only go where they want us to go, the only way in and out um is with the israeli military and when we go in with them we have to abide by their restrictions, that means we only film what they allow us to film, we only go with again reiterating how limited access there is, how controlled they are, even as press on the mainstream media, and the fact that he's reporting this, what is he not saying that he's trying to say realistically, that even reports are not completely evident, indeed, because even watching a little bit of his reports, they are not flattering, the scenes
12:20 am
are not positive in the slightest, so if that has been approved by. spokesperson and their media section, we're seeing people with their hands up holding up white clots to say in a surrender motion, we're seeing the the the the detritus of the attacks, we're seeing the roads that are completely not usable, we're seeing mothers dragging their kids in whatever, the back of a chair, the back of a car seat, so if those images are the ones coming out that have been like, okay, two thumbs up in a green light, what happened? next, that's what i'm saying, it's quite apparent that and i wonder just as a slightly off point here, if a journalist like a markstone would ever be able to say fully what he seen that he could not report on and what he couldn't talk about time will tell, time will tell, i'm sure it may come out over time as we know that you know um as things may be eased up and when they're not in those
12:21 am
areas we do hear reports and accounts from previous so that is something that is probably um coming in the in probably few days and weeks as well, well some might argue we need that information now in order to make them absolutely absolutely uh, but the next story here and i'd like to give a special shout out to our colleague, richard medhurs, highlights this for us, but um, let's see for what's going on with spain today, yeah, well we have the spanish minister of social rights uh again saying that they are taking action, so we'll hear about you, few things of what she says, um, that they don't want to be silent and con heridos atacadas, miles de personas abandonadas bajo los escombros gritando auxilio, miles de personas brutalmente asesinadas por el estado criminal de israel, muchas de ellos, niños y niñas, estamos asistiendo a un genocidio en directo y yo no quiero ser cómplice, quiero actuar,
12:22 am
quiero promover un alto al fuego y que termine esta barbarie, porque la barbarie, strong and it's quite a long video so i would urge people to go back and have look at it as she even talks about it the killing being brutal she talks about us all witnessing a live genocide and not to be silent and more than 60 parliamentary and um european and latin american are going to take netanyahu to the icc so she urges for that movement to um have more support and signatures as well so this is not just talk this is actually taking action and she urges everyone to follow suit because she's one of the very few european states or even around the world that's actually taking this you know into the next steps. indeed we also have to point out that israel are not a signatory to the icc. for reasons that are abundantly clear. your final uh, yes, this is a cnn report, as we were even talking about earlier, showing the west
12:23 am
bank, and how the settlers are taking more advantage, especially this time to occupy the west bank and showing horrendous amount of aggression towards the people that are living there to the point where they even have some the israeli soldiers alongside them to threaten the sort of... uh civilians and not just in the west bank, but moving to remote villages and areas as well. let's have a list, i can't sleep anymore, i'm too afraid. families in this village once home to some 140 palestinians, tell us they have been left with no choice but to flee their homes, what's happening now is another nekbar, a catastrophe, i'm 60 years old, yes, um, these times sponsor terrorism. yes, absolutely, and it's so clear, so apparent, and again, this is not on the mainstream as we would see in the uk, so we do get some of the reports abroad, so it's good to actually get that
12:24 am
over here, especially with the narrative and propaganda about it's only attacking hamas, but obviously it's not, and it's not just in the actual gaza, indeed, fahim muhammad, more from you next time, uh, we are still here, this is gaza under attack with my guest, marksworth, i want to bring you back in there, i know you been uh carefully listening in, is this a turning point, the brutality that we're seeing the barbarism that we're witnessing? well, why the statistics available to us? more civilians have been murdered in this period of just over a month than during the whole of the ukrainian conflict that all the west were so concerned about. and attacking russia, it is a turning point, south africa, which suffered a party, wicket, brutal apart of black people being
12:25 am
second-class citizens in their own land, that's why the south african government decided that they're going to break off diplomatic relations with israel because they understand it better than most, you've heard from the spanish, the the irish are very good on this question because they suffer a pressure. under the british and so they are speaking out against these war crimes against the uh genocide and i do believe that there will be a big momentum now to take the likes of netanyahu to the international criminal call you called it the icc i think we could call it out by name and you know we're going to see a big pushback against this brutality against this slaughter against this massacre. and a call for israel to withdraw back to the pre-june 1967 borders and end the occupation, end the settlements and end the oppression,
12:26 am
because this resistance won't stop at the end the war, as donald runsfeld once said, and he was an american cork, for every palestinian that is killed, 10 more will rise up to fight again. the oppression of their people, and that's what's going to happen. indeed, carol. it's so difficult to try and figure out what happens next for gaza, for palestinians in gaza, what would be your thinking? i think the sky news bit was very good, that man was trying to tell the news, he couldn't tell it, his hands was tied behind his back, but this will be over and he will have a voice. and his voice will be strong along with the deaths of all these other press people who have been murdered and the voices of those who have been there, have seen it, and all
12:27 am
these propagandarists, they will realize that they're in big trouble, there is remember, we we don't know about the the death toll from those who are still unfortunately entoomed under the rouble, of course, of course, we don't know anything, we only know what, being told, you know, and if we've been, as we've been told such awful things, can, can you imagine it being worse and awful, is there a worse, is there a worse, probably is not, marksworth, we just have some final comments on this in about 30 seconds, uh, how many people need to die for those in the west and tel aviv to be pleased with their job well done? well, is it allful that we're even asking that? because this is on the scale of a holocaust, this is genocide, and i think we've reach that crunch point, 12, billions
12:28 am
in just over a month, enough is enough, this must end and and we must have seaspy and i think that we were going to see that sooner rather than than than later. now with those comments we have come, apologies there mark to the end of the show, let me thank my guest the ever verbose marksworth and kyle swords, gaza under attack will be back tomorrow with more, until then continue to keep. palestine in your hearts, goodbye.
12:29 am
هي الابنيه محروقه كلياتها منزوعه نهبوا اللي كل شيء فيها ما خلوه غير البخاايا الحديد يعني اللي مبين وحروها مشان يغطوا على جرائمه شو الذب اللي ارتكبناه نحن شعب فلسطين شو الذنب اللي ارتكبناه احنا ما بيكفينا 60 سنه مهجرين they say time is a great healer, but it's not, انا 48 لهلا عم نلم الليره مشان نعمر مخيم اليرموك هذا مخيم اليرموك هيك, they say the darkest hour is just before dawn, but not here in yarmook soon on press tv.
12:30 am
your headlines for this hour, the yemeny army says it has captured an israeli vessel in the red sea in response to tel aviv's continued aggression against palestinians in the gaza. the world health organization says the al shifa hospital, which was once the largest hospital in gaza has now turned into a death zone. and the leader of iran's islamic revolution says the ongoing genocide in gaza indicates the israeli regime's anger over its military failures.
