tv Gaza Under Attack EP25 PRESSTV November 30, 2023 12:02am-12:31am IRST
12:02 am
up until he was released and um shown to the red cross, that was over a week of him um suffering with uh bruises and pains and and fractures that you know could have healed that will give him lifelong disabilities, and there are many other examples, latifa, it gets much worse, a barbaric practice the of israeli regime has been using over the decades to gain leverage in negotiations against palestinians, i'll let you explain what that is, it's a barbaric practice of um, harvesting these bodies of of keeping, imprisoning children, imprisoning um dead corpses um instead of returning them to their families and it's something that they use uh for many things uh in negotiations, they use them uh to stock pile their skin bank so that they can go to the world and they can say that israel has the you know that the most advanced healthcare in in you know skin cancer available come to us, we are world leaders, we we are pioneers in this. when
12:03 am
actually the the samples that they have collected, the the cells, the organs that they have harvested illegally without consent from dead bodies that they have um kept in concentration camps for all these years and then you know upon their death they they are still useful really it's like um what are those birds that that eat carcasses vultures they're like vultures just picking apart every last crum leaving nothing um they they utilize palestinian to prove that their weapons are battle tested and they sell them on the market uh thusly they they experiment on on our children and now they are taking dead bodies something that might shock the audience which is that israel not only imprisons palestinians who are alive, they are also imprisoning dead people, marters, 398 palestinians who have already died in israeli jails, or in in because they were
12:04 am
shot by israeli army are kept in jail, those who die in israeli prisons because of a sickness or because of torture have to stay in prison, in refrigerators to and that's a violation of course of international law as well as israeli domistic law. moving to the next one and the brief history of the palestinian fight for justice, a wall of somewhere here, in the british capital, what's really lovely about what we're about to see um is that people are taking to the streets to educate the world, they are no longer um, you know, it's it's not something that's just going to be on the news, it's not certainly not something that's being taught in schools, or allowed to be spoken about of openly, you know, even at protests, there was a man who was arrested for selling a book about um how the zionist um propaganda narrative uh started and the... for what i
12:05 am
love about this um is that people are taking to the streets uh making a stand, making a statement, this is where zionism started, this is where the war actually started, sorry, that's uh freydian slip of the tongue there, it's not a war of course, it's a genocide, it's an apartide, and it did not start on october the 7th, it started um in the 1800s, in late 1800s with the creation of the political zionist ideology, and there it is, all in chronological. order and it's efforts like that that is really bearing fruit in in terms of raising awareness not just here in the uk but around the world as you're about to tell us. absolutely. what i love about this is that you don't have to be uh someone who's young on social media, you don't even have to be someone who's completely invested um in the palestinian cause for you to learn about it. it's um uh you know it's not just this, there's also mureals that are being painted all over the world, people are taking to the streets and making sure that they they'... are not um
12:06 am
remaining silent um and it's having an impact on uh the elderly, it's having an impact on people who uh wouldn't normally be exposed to this content, it's becoming what they call as a kitchen sink conversation, people are talking about it at home, in restaurants, sitting down and having a coffee, it pops up in the conversation, absolutely, and and this young man documented this in america, i'm in a restaurant just chilling, waiting for my food, and there's like a white couple next to me, their middle age just chilling, eating their dinner and they're talking. how israel is so evil and wicked, how they're massacring babies in hospitals and they're saying how they are the settlers and the wife is educating the husband on it, he's like, oh wow, and i don't know if these are people who are even on tiktok, like they were an elderly couple, people are not who are not even on social media, they're catching up on what's happening in that part of the world and discussing it, and so in this way um the world finally uh realizes that israel is an oppressor. that they are an aggressor, that
12:07 am
they um are have always been um complicit in the murder and genocide of palestinians and it is in this way that we inshallah globally will create the movement and keep up the momentum. to free palestine and to make sure that our countries, wherever we are, the companies that we work for, are not complicit in supporting any businesses that operate in occupied territories. okay, latifa, thank you. and latifa, we'll be back with more tomorrow. earlier, we spoke to retired brigadier waqar hasan khan a senior defense analyst based in islamabad pakistan. told us that the pakistanis are angry that muslim countries have not done much to stop the recent massacre of palestinians. public also feels that oic or the islamic world and especially the large countries could have done much better, not only militarily but mainly economically, diplomatically, even if
12:08 am
you look at the way, you know, israeli shipping has been targeted, so it means that in case you could choke the you know the choke points like babalman or state of hermuss. or the swiss canal and basically deny access to israeli or their backers, it could have created a lot of impact, so economic bipot was definitely one option, the other was you know pressing the energy bypot, lot of fighting oil and gas or israel flows through some of the muslim countries, central asia and some of the middle eastern countries, and unfortunately because of i think the arrangement for normalization process with israel, there was a different which literally left the palestinian. outside and that's why i think marwan bashara, one of the al jazera journalist had mentioned that palestinian then decided to go out and fight on their feet instead of dying on their knees in their houses, so that's a kind of general feeling in the public, there a lot of frustration also in general public that why governments couldn't do more than that, i
12:09 am
just give example of khilafat movement in 1914 when turkey was being targeted by the west, lot of people wanted to go there and help turkey but there was no... right of passage given by the bordering states, so i feel the honors of any more pressure should have been on egypt, on jordan, maybe on syria and maybe the middle eastern countries, there could have been, i think much better arrangement which could have satisfied not only the palestinian, but also the general public and the people on the street in all across the islamic world. brigadier khan further said that pakistanis were keen to do something and have... trying to hit the economic pockets of the campaigns supporting israel through the boycott movement. yeah, just after 7th october there were calls for bicot of products which are either you know the let's say a jewish businessman mainly
12:10 am
connected with israel or even those operate from the west because lot of food business exists in pakistan, very big food chains, they make billions of dollar every year and so there was a general but it was kind of i would say less organized, it was basically done through social media and people even going to the restaurants and telling people to not eat that, it has made some difference because people then started to visit alternate site, but there are more businesses connected with israel or jewish businessman across the world which could have been targeted with more organized fashion, but i would say the feeling is there, people wanted 100% bycord. people wanted to shut down these outlets and also even be asking the governments and calling to the islamic world or the oic to bycott total businesses the shippings like we have seen you some of the ships targeted by ansarullah from yaman have
12:11 am
created lot of panic and i think it has also contributed to the seasfire the temporary sees five lot of economic pressure but had it been done more organized manner i think it would have brought more results. my guests, yusuf and venessa beele have stayed the course. thank you both for sticking around. i want to continue with vanessa and pick up on one john, what john kirby had to say earlier on in the us is role in all of this. um, do you think vanessa that if the war resumes on gaza, um, first of all, do you think that the us, it is believed that it is the only country that can stop israel from continuing with this genocidal. campaign, at least for the near term, um, do you think it can? do you agree with that? and and if so, if the war resumes, then what does that mean in term for the us and and the westled world for want to better way to put it? um, i think the
12:12 am
person that is best described the us relationship with israel was actually, robert kennedy jr. who said very clearly that israel is... an aircraft carrier in the middle east for the us. he didn't by the way talk about the israeli people, he simply talked about israel as instrument of us. power in the middle east, he described them as basically their spies, um, their ability to interfere in middle east affairs, which of course we've seen definitely here in syria for the last 13 years, um, and ongoing israeli aggression against syria, including two days ago, the bombing again of damascus international airport, um, and he described them as um, the us bullwalk. in the area, particularly against the rising power of the east, in
12:13 am
other words of iran, russia, china, so the importance of israel to the us has been very clearly explained by kennedy, and i think that goes across republican and democrat, i don't think there is basically any difference, so effectively us support and uk support and many eu member states support. for israel is unconditional, as many of them have stated, and and we know within the conservative party in the uk within the labour party in the uk, there's a high percentage, more than 70% of so-called friends of israel, right? and and i actually wrote fairly recently about the home secretary suella braveman, she's obviously been sacked now, um, whether her allegiance lies with israel or with the uk, i argued that it lies with israel. and i would argue that the majority of politicians in the uk in the us, their allegiance does lie heavily
12:14 am
with israel because of the role it serves as their military outpost in the middle east, securing resources, economic trade deals, as with the normalization of course with saudi arabia, which is to try and protect, the commodities within the gulf states and so i think um eventually what we're seeing now of course is um an escalation uh to a regional war. i think that is definitely what the us is seeking, and that is why you're seeing very much a containment um of that escalation both in syria and in southern lebanon. hezballah is engaging forces in the north of the occupied territories in order to keep them away from gaza and the west bank. syria is opening up areas where the palestinian resistance and the islamic resistance iraq
12:15 am
can operate and target us bases because of course it's perceived in the region that the u.s. is behind what israel is doing, it's supplying the arms, it's it's funding israel effectively for the reasons that i've explained, um, and so i, i think really from from a us perspective, israel is pivotal to its money and supremacy in the region, so therefore um, any resistance against israel is going to be um destroyed basically by the us, and we we all remember the words of joe biden, the american president when he was uh senator biden, that if there weren't in israel, the us would have to create one uh in the middle east, um, so that was, you know, yusuf, the position of these western countries, the united states. uh as far as israel is concerned, but i want to ask you about how you felt, despite all of the
12:16 am
support that you've seen uh provided to israel, the way people have responded, people in the streets of london, the hundreds of thousands who turned out under the streets, the outpooring of grief and emotions for the palestinian flight and for the massacre unfolding there, how did that make you feel as a as a ghazan, as a palestinian? yeah, well it makes me feel really proud. that the palestinian cause has inspired the whole world to see this mass mobilization in the streets of the world's capital, um, boost the moral of palestinians on the ground, it open up many eyes, there is so much awareness, um, israel is maybe the only remnant of imperialism, israel is the closest allie to the united states and the united states have been dealing with israel as a spoiled brat, and it says, it cannot say no to israel. it feeds israel financially, military, supports israel with the latest technology, and it has
12:17 am
transformed gaza into a testing a ground, um, drobbing internationally banned weapons, so this mass mobilization around the world, i think it's going to change the perception of palestine in the west, so many people are showing solidarity on the popular level, and those people were are imposing pressure on their governments, on their mps to take action, um, so many people are interested. now to uh visit palestine um, because they say not in our names, the tax payers of americans, it goes to israel to kill innocent civilians in gaza, so i think it's not of. until we see a change somehow, because the world, the world cannot tolerate israel's vicious attacks on civilians, attacking hospitals, churches, mosques, mosks and bakeries, it has it has transformed gaza into and extermination camp, so i think this will stop and it will bring more support, yeah,
12:18 am
before the war, there was described as the world's largest open air prison, vanessa mentioned the... rise of powers in in the middle east, this is no longer a unipolar world, um, more and more countries uh, joining the league of powerful countries. china's top diplomad will travel to new york to lead a un security council meeting on the war in gaza on wednesday, that according to the country's foreign ministry, china holds the security council presidenty for november, a spokesperson has said that the country hopes that quote, by holding this high... level meeting, we can do our part to bring all parties together, the chinese government has joined arab states in calling for a permanent ceasefire. as the rotating president of the security council for november, china hopes that by holding this high level meeting we can do our part to bring all parties together for in-depth exchanges, build on consensus and further
12:19 am
contribute to alleviating the humanitarian crisis in gaza, realizing a ceasefire. and cessation of hostilities, protecting civilians and ultimately promoting a comprehensive, just and lasting settlement of the palestinian issue for two-state solution. the pace towards peace, no matter how small should be encouraged and the difficulty in protecting civilians, no matter how daunting, should be overcome. this round of conflicts has lasted for more than 50 days, causing a large number of casualties and serious humanitarian disaster. we have repeatedly emphasized that violence cannot create real security and the use of force cannot bring lasting peace. china welcomes all efforts that are conducive to bringing about a ceasefire and deescalating the situation. all right, muhammad is back with the follow-up to her first offering of palestine in the media. good to have you back fahima. your first
12:20 am
story in this segment, the um, rising islamophobia in, yeah, i mean we've always had rising islamophobia, but obviously. has quadripled and it's not just in the uk, it's also in the us and around the globe, and here we have students who have been um shot in vermont, um, we have to say that they are, they they have survived, but they are seriously injured, and it is hate motivated crime and obviously it's reported by um, you know gb news here in the uk and the comments are just still atrocious, um, we know the kind of you know certain mainstream medias to regardless of this kind of hate crime when it comes to certain individuals and certain minorities then it's again it's probably you know what's the question behind it so um it's really sad to see and we have to be careful as um you know students and young people that are actually vocalizing themselves they have to take care and there has been an arrest perpetrated it yes they're all alive and they were shot because they were wearing the
12:21 am
iconic palestinian caafier and speaking arabic yes and they palestinian descendant as well your second story introduction to zionism 101 yes and it kind of like highlights as to maybe why people are feeling this way as we can see in the campuses we are hearing you know uh zinus instructing jewish americans as to how um these are students they're talking to how to defend israel in the us campuses so this is outright just showing them what to do what's say and it's quite appling as to what she says so you can hear a little bit of what she talks about. um and you will say, what, you want us to make you look good, that's not my job, your job is to make us look good, our job is not to make you look good, american jews, what do you have to worry about, your job is to make us look good, and here's how you do it, every one of us has to serve three years in the army, two years in the army, some of us five
12:22 am
years and then for the rest of how to defend themselves by attacking clearly. two university students in america, so we're not, we shouldn't be surprised as to what's happened even in the previous report and what's to come, and she is a harvard university prof, she's been criticized in the past for writing that palestinian arabs and i'm quoting, are people who breed and breed and advertise their misery, and not censored here, and not hated here, that article you mentioned in the previous segment, yes, at the same university gets censored. and one of those three um young men who were shot was also student at harvard university. moving to uh you know the pass in the shelling and the gaz stripe but then those were in are battling every day for survival? absolutely, mean now that we have the pause um we can see some reports as to what's happening and what's the onslot so far and looking at the
12:23 am
devastation? so this video highlights um some the facilities or so-called facilities now that people are still at the hospitals looking for assistance and medic you medical assistants, but at the end of the day there's nothing there and you can see they're in beds outside the hospital. it's a real um dire situation, even with the pores, it's just highlighting how much destruction, how much that's still needed and how much more they have to fuel, you need medical supplies, you need anesthesia to be able to know this is just temporary, so we're not really sure as to what's to come and if they are actually going to get the help that they require, and as we've been saying, it could be the lol before we get another storm unleashed on palestinians, fahimma, thank you, as always hear more from you tomorrow. now let's continue the conversation with my guests, febili in syria and here in the studio with yousuf el helou. manissa, first to you, how do you think israel's international
12:24 am
reputation, if any has faired in in light of the recent um eruption? i think, i mean, this is one of the major victories for the palestinians and for the palestinian resistance. first of all, the attacks of october the 7. and even previous engagement between palestinian resistance both in the west bank and from gaza with uh the israeli occupation forces and even um with uh rockets and missiles fairly rudementary rockets and missiles that bypassed the so-called invincible iron dome. so first of all the october seventh operation demonstrated that israel is very much paper tiger. has basically survived on the propaganda that it produces and that the west backs up, that it is this, this military and intelligence giant
12:25 am
in the region, well both its military and its surveillance capability were bypassed by uh resistance operations. secondly, of course, now what we're seeing come out, even in israeli media is the fact that the majority the civilians that would... killed uh on october the 7th and on the two days that followed when the iof were trying to track down the resistance factions and the hostages external to gaza, the majority of those civilians were actually either killed in crossfire, so effectively being used as human shields by the iof while they were engaging with uh resistance forces, or by israeli apache helicopters that carried out an operation that lasted four hours and targeted more than 300 targets, including civilians, because they've admitted they couldn't differentiate between civilians and resistance fighters, and then the two days
12:26 am
after of course they shelled both by tank and by helicopter the houses where the resistance and their own civilians were were sheltering, killing the civilians in the process, so that's the second thing operating according to that. the the so-called uh hannibal directive that allows them to kill someone if they're being taken hostage to prevent them from uh from being taken uh captive. i'm going to put one last question to to yousuf here if i may and that is yousuf, we don't have much time left to be honest, but what are your hopes and fears past thursday? well, international, the international system has been sabotaged by israel, and the us is stands. um has been always pro israel, so my hope is that um the uh we must we much, we should reach a permanent ceasefire, in order
12:27 am
to alleviate the suffering of the people people under the israeli siege, and my fears is that israel will continue attack ghaza from time to time without an need to justification, so uh let's hope uh peace prevail and let's hope that israel now uh will end its occupation, end its siege and allow the people of... palestine, especially gaza to be free nation. resolving the core issues um at the heart of this ongoing israeli um occupation of palestinians. thank you very much. and with those comments we are going to wrap up this show. many thanks again to my guests, yousuf alhilu and venesabili for their contributions. gaza under attack will be back tomorrow with more. until then, continue to keep palestine in your hearts. thank you.
12:28 am
people in israel marked parim as a holiday to commemorate the saving of the jewish people from annihilation at the hands of the keminide empire. in persia, as it is recounted in the book of esther. they've been using the occasion to play the victim, but what is the reality and is there truth in it? watch this documentary to gain some insight.
12:29 am
12:30 am
first headlines i says palestinians a flood operation against israel disrupted us policies in the region media haters are engaged in intensive talks aimed at extending the humanitarian pause in gaza which is now in its sixth day and israeli forces raid a refugee camp in janin in the occupied westbank, killing two palestinian children and injuring several others.
