way to put it? um, i think the person that is best described the us relationship with israel was actually uh, robert kennedy uh jr. who said very clearly that israel is like an aircraft carrier in the middle east for the us. he didn't by the way talk about... the israeli people, he simply talked about israel as instrument of us power in the middle east, he describe them as basically their spies, um, their ability to interfere in middle east affairs, which of course we've seen definitely here in syria for the last 13 years, um and ongoing israeli aggression against syria, including two days ago, the bombing again of damascus international airport, um and described them as um the us

bullow in the area, particularly against the rising power of the east, in other words of iran, russia, china, so the importance of israel to the us has been very clearly explained by kennedy, and i think that goes across republican and democrat, i don't think there is basically any difference, so effective. us support and uk support and many eu member states support for israel is unconditional, as many of them have stated, and and we know within the conservative party in the uk, within the labour party in the uk, there's a high percentage, more than 70% of so-called friends of israel, right? and and i actually wrote fairly recently about the home secretary, suella braveman, she's obviously been sacked now, um, whether her allegiance lies with israel or with the uk, i argued that it lies with israel, and i would argue

that the majority of politicians in the uk, and the u.s. their allegiance does lie heavily with israel because of the role it serves as their military outpost in the middle east, securing resources, economic trade deals as with the normalization of course with saudi arabia, which is to try and protect, the... commodities within the gulf states and so i think eventually what we're seeing now of course is um escalation to a regional war, i think that is definitely what the us is seeking, and that is why you're seeing very much a containment of that escalation both in syria and in southern lebanon. hezballah is engaging forces in the north. the occupied territories in order to keep them away from gaza and the west bank.

syria is opening up areas where the palestinian resistance and the islamic resistance iraq can operate and target us bases, because of course it's perceived in the region that the u.s. is behind what israel is doing, it's supplying the arms, it's it's funding israel effectively for the reasons that i've explained, um, and so i i think really from from from a us perspective, israel is pivotal to its hegem money and supremacy in the region, so therefore um any resistance against israel is going to be destroyed basically by the us, and we we all remember the words of joe biden, the american president when he was uh senator biden, that if there weren't in israel, the us would have to create one uh in the middle east, so that was, you know, um, yusuf, the position of these western countries, the united states,

as far as israel is concerned, but i want to ask you about how you felt, despite all of the support that you've seen uh, provided to israel, the way people have responded, people in the streets of london, the hundreds of thousands who turned out under the streets, the outpooring of grief and emotions for the palestinian plate and for the massacre unfolding. there, how did that make you feel as a as a ghazan, as a palestinian? yeah, well, it makes me feel really proud that the palestinian cause has inspired the whole world, to see this mass mobilization in the streets of the world's capital, um, boost the moral of palestinians on the ground, it open up many eyes, there is so much awareness, um, israel is maybe the only remnant of imperialism, israel is the closest allie to the united states and the united states have been dealing with israel as a spoiled brat and it says, it cannot say no to israel, it

feeds israel financially, military, supports israel with the latest technology, and it has transformed gaza into a testing a ground, um, drobbing internationally banned weapons, so this mass mobilization around the world, i think it's going to change the perception of palestine in the west, so many people are showing solidarity on the popular level, and those people uh are be are. imposing pressure on their governments, on their mps to take action, so many people are interested now to visit palestine, because they say not in our names, the taxpayers of america. it goes to israel to kill innocent civilians in gaza, so i think it's not of until we see a change somehow, because the world, the world cannot tolerate israel's vicious attacks on civilians, attacking hospitals, churches, mosques, mosks and bakeries, it has it has transformed gaza into an extermination camp,

so i think this will stop and it will bring more support, yeah, before the war, there was. described as the world's largest open air uh prison uh vanessa mentioned the rise of powers in in the middle east this is no longer a unipolar world um more and more countries uh joining the league of powerful countries. china's top diplomad will travel to new york to lead a un security council meeting on the war in gaza on wednesday that according to the country's foreign ministry, china holds the security council presidenty for november. a spokesperson has said that the country hopes that quote, by holding this high-level meeting, we can do our part to bring all parties together, the chinese government has joined arab states in calling for a permanent ceasefire. as the rotating president of the security council for november, china hopes that by holding this

guests, vanessa beeli in syria, and here in the studio with yousuf el halou. vanessa, first to you, how do you think israel's international reputation, if any has faired in in light of the recent um eruption? i think, i mean, this is one of the major victories for. the palestinians and for the palestinian resistance, first of all, the attacks of october the 7th and even previous engagement between palestinian resistance both in the west bank and from gaza with uh the israeli occupation forces, and even um with uh rockets and missiles, fairly rudimentary rockets and missiles that bypassed the so-called invincible iron dome, so first of all the october. seventh operation demonstrated that israel is very much paper tiger, it is basically survived on the propaganda that it produces, and that the

west backs up, that it is this this military uh and intelligence giant in the region, well both its military and its surveillance capability were bypassed by uh resistance operations. secondly, of course, now what we're seeing come out even in israeli media is the fact that the majority of the civilians that were killed uh on october the 7th and on the two days that followed when the iof were trying to track down the resistance factions and the hostages external to gaza, the majority of those civilians were actually either killed in crossfire, so effectively being used as human shields by the iof while they were engaging with uh resistance forces. or by uh israeli apache helicopters that carried out an operation that lasted four hours and targeted more than 300 targets, including civilians, because

they've admitted they couldn't differentiate between civilians and resistance fighters, and then the two days after of course they shelled both by tank and by helicopter, the houses where the resistance and their own civilians were were sheltering, killing um the civilians. in the process, so that's the second thing, operating according to that, sorry to interrupt, the the so-called uh hanibal directive that allows them to kill someone if they're being taken hostage to prevent them from uh from being taken uh captive. i'm going to put one last question to to youf here if i may and that is youf, we don't have much time left to be honest, but what are your hopes and fears past thursday? well international, the international system has been sabotaged by israel, and the us stance has been always pro israel, so my hope is that um the uh we must we much, we should

reach a permanent ceasefire, in order to alleviate the suffering of the people people under the israeli sige, and my fears is that israel will continue attack ghaza from time to time without an need to justification, so uh let's hope uh peace prevail and it's hope that israel now uh will end its occupation, end its siege and allow the people of of palestine, especially gaza to be free nation, resolving the core issues um at the heart of this ongoing israeli um occupation of palestinians, thank you very much, and with those comments we are going to wrap up this show, many thanks again to my guests, yusuf alhulu and venesabili for their contributions. gaza under attack will be back tomorrow with more, and then continue to keep palestine in your hearts, thank you.
