us from new york, is dan kovalick, human rights lawyer, academic and author. thanks million for being with us, so early dan to talk about these pressing issues happening in palestine, as we speak, now the palestinian resistance dan imposed most of the conditions in the past truth, it was announced uh four days ago, the most important of which is that it imposed the truth for several days and not for hours, the way the israeli entity was trying to uh push against the uh people, and to imposing the entry of humanitarian aid, much needed humanitarian aid and fuel to gaza, despite the brutal strikes uh by the israeli entity war machine, what do you think in your opinion was the main factor uh for the success of this truce? yes, well of course the main factor is what you uh mentioned uh and that is the stiff resistance that the resistance fighters in gaza, have

been giving to the israeli defense forces, according to israel's own figures, over 300 something like 324 israeli soldiers have been killed. and number of their tanks which they thought were indestructible have actually been destroyed. by the way, the palestinians think probably three times the number of israeli soldiers that that israel claims to have been killed, were killed, so that would make it about a thousand israeli soldiers killed, so uh, and there i've been reading that there's been desertions by the israeli forces, um, as a result of the resist. and so i think that is the biggest factor that brought israel to this truce, but of course there's several other factors, one is the support that gaza is getting uh internationally from hezbola and yemen, and

also from resistance for fighters in iraq, all of them are engaged in various attacks which are bogging down. uh both israel and the united states, well then the israeli entity set a ceiling of uh great ambitions if i may internally and externally, and then faced fierce resistance and popular steadfastness inside of 363 square kilometers of very populated concentration camp of gaza, which led that ceiling basically to crumble down on the israeli entity leadership, especially we're talking about the heads of netanyahu, about guns and about uh gallant, how come the israeli regime was so delusional in estimating the real power of the palestinian resistance when it's just right there in the ghaza strip? well, i think that the powers that be in israel are delusional

about many things and i think that is what will lead to their demise, they they believe their own propaganda, that somehow they're invincible force, that somehow they're the most... moral army in the world, when in fact they seem to be the most immoral army in the world, but they believe their own propaganda, also their forces are used to being victorious over children and women in the west bank, right? well that doesn't take very much, also doesn't take very much to be victorious over hospitals and children in gaza, which it seems that that's the only victories that they are able to claim uh, but it's quite another matter to engage with uh militant fighters in gaza that are well trained, that are well-seasoned and frankly who have something to fight for, and that is

their homes and their land, and the israelis don't have the same thing to fight for, um, and the... brow is low and decreasing by the day, so i think that explains how israel has overestimated itself, i think also the problem they have is they don't have a strategy in gaza, they're let's face it, they uh, 90% of the people they've killed in gaza are civilians, now of course that's by intention, but what that means is they're really not having... the impact on the militant fighters that that they claim to have, and they don't have a strategy to have an impact on them, so i i think they don't know what to do at this point, and again, they they now face the world, they face the world opinion on this, you have joe biden be

of icon for humanity, especially those who aspire for liberation. how do you think this new phase will look like? yes, well, i think first of all we have. acknowledge in the short term, short to medium term, there will be much suffering in gaza, they've already lost something like 20,000 lives that we know of, many of them children. their infrastructure is in ruins, their hospitals are in ruins, that will be something that the people, palestine will have to grapple with, hopefully the world will have to grapple with, but that that that will be the biggest challenge at hand, but i think in the long-term, and maybe not real long-term, i think the state of israel is in trouble, i think, what is it, something? like 150,000 israels or have already left israel uh

because of all this, all the settlements in the north of israel have been vacated because of hezbollah's fighting, um, the morale of israel's very low, they again they had this reputation in much of the world, not all of it, but in much of the west for again being this. invincible moral actor and both aspects of that claim are gone now, they're not seen as invincible, nor they seen as moral, and i think that that also impacts the younger generation of jews in the world, and they will not be flocking to live in israel, and israel needs that, israel can only survive by uh, to have continuing um generations move,

move there, and i think that's not going to happen now, i think that israel's probably facing an existential crisis, but it's of its own making, you know, it it's now existentially threatened by how it is conducted this so-called war, it's not much of a war, i mean in in many ways, well as many people. acknowledge and is i believe it's a genocide you know so um that will have lasting impact and i think in the end the us leadership will have to think very hard how how it relates to israel in the future i mean we will we will be talking about this specifically about how really zionism has failed utterly not only in gaza but at a global scale as well but please ladies and gents do stay with us because after the break we will see how zionism was defeated in gaza,
