6:31 am
hello and welcome, you're watching world news on press tv, coming to you live from our headquarters in tehran, thank you for joining us, my name is kisum ahmady and these are our top stories this hour.
6:32 am
"there is no end in sight to the israeli genocidal campaign against palestinians in gaza as the regime keeps pounding the blockaded territory, indiscriminately with air and artillery strikes. in the latest attack, at least three people were killed in the israeli bombing of a palestinian home near the nasara refugee camp in central gaza. of to the south, woman and her daughter were killed after israeli war plane struck the alamanara neighborhood. in the city of conjunis meanwhile israeli forces opened fire a group of palestinians in the town of al shabaka near rafah, killing a number of people. israeli occupying forces also opened fire directly on ambulances as they were trying to retrieve those injured in the regime's attacks in raffa. the israeli regime launched its war on gaza in october last year, since then, nearly 41, palestinians
6:33 am
have been killed and almost 9500 others injured. students in almost all over the of world are going back to school these days, but in gaza, pupils trapped in a cycle of suffering due to the israeli genocidal war remain without educational facilities. remaining. schools in the basis territory have become shelters where palestinians can find relative refuge from the regime's intense bombardment. our correspondent in gaza musabi has a report: as the israeli genocidal war on gaza continues unabated, the undestroyed schools of gaza have turned into the only relatively safe places for the displaced, but at the same time. this has
6:34 am
become an obstacle to young garzans to return to their schools and resume their education. the israeli regime has systematically targeted the education sector through three main routes: the first one was targeting and destroying the schools and universities. 122 schools and universities have been completely destroyed, while 334 others have been partially damaged, the second one was killing roughly 9,00 students. at this time of the year, palestinian and students like their counterparts all over the world would normally experience the vibe of back to school if gaza was not suffering from israel's genicidal war. however, 11 consecutive months of the war have deprived approximately 625.

school and get education while we can't after the israeli forces destroyed our schools, i want this war to hand in order to be able to go to school once again, israel has killed tens of thousands of palestinan students and teachers in gaza. the regime has also systematically destroyed hundreds of schools including those run by the un and international aid agencies while "the undestroyed facilities are now packed by the displaced. the main aim of this genocidal war in gaza is to eliminate all aspects of life and send the territory back to the stone age." press tv, the central area of gaza

strip. a geneva based human rights group says the israeli regime is deliberately targeting schools and shelters, housing displaced. palestinians in the gaza strip. in a statement, euro-mediterranean human rights monitor said the regime has bombed at least 16 schools in northern gaza, killing more than 200 people in just one month. the statement added that israel has intensified its targeted attacks on civilian homes, shelters and tents in recent weeks. euromed says this pattern of attacks on refugee centers is meant to forceably displace palestinians. the rights group also accused. the us and its european allies of complicity in the ongoing genocide, with their military and political support for israel, it call on the international community to shoulder their responsibilities and put an end to the extermination of palestinians in gaza.
6:37 am
the palestinian resistance movement, hamas has hailed the shooting operation that led to the killing of three israelis at the border crossing between the occupied west bank and jordan. hamas says the operation at kamara
6:38 am
crossing response to the israeli crimes in gaza and the west bank. it added that the shooting reaffirms the arab people's rejection of the israeli occupation. the military wing of hamos also issued a statement in praise of the operation, the alkisasam brigade says the move is the result the alaxafrard operation early october. it added that the shooting is also a sign of nightmare a waiting israel. jordanian national maher al-jazi, a truck driver, was shot dead by israeli forces after he carried out the shooting operation on sunday. since the start of the gaza genocide, there has been a surge and... taliatory attacks against israel in the west bank. earlier in our news review program, we discussed the anti-israeli operation at the crossing between the occupied west bank and jordan. let say a
6:39 am
listen to an extract of the program. to discuss that further, we're joined by sarah flounders, an international action center from new york, also joining us live is robert fontina, author and journalist, joining us from kitchen. thank you very much to both of you for joining us on this edition of the news review. let's begin with sarah, what is your take on the response coming from hamas and the alkassan brigades, stating that this was a clear and obvious consequence. of israeli occupation and particularly, let's not forget the recent attacks on the west bank, well this is exactly right, they're stating the obvious fact that the whole world knows that the horror that has gone on now,
6:40 am
closing in a year, year of non-stop bombing, destruction, hospitals, schools, tents, refugee centers, bulldozer and tanks into the west bank cities, there's just no end to the horror that everyone has seen, and it's holy justified response, what happened, three israelis killed? "i'm sure the zionists know that they're sowing the seeds of their own destruction by the very viciousness of their crimes, and from here in the us, i have to always say that none of this would be possible without full 100% us equipment, political, diplomatic support that is open-ended toward the settler state and all of its crimes, so that's who's to blame, but this is a marter, very much part of..." the resistance in every way, heart and soul, and they gave their life in order to strike back
6:41 am
when they had an opportunity, and this is what awaits, you you can't, so this is seithing in the whole region, and nowhere is safe while these crimes continue. let's bring in mr. robert fontina to elaborate more on that, what do you think awaits israel now that we see a jordanian national, now this time it's not a palestinian, it's a jordanian national carrying out. territory attacks let alone uh yemen, iraq, lebanon, that have been behind the palestinians ever since this happened. yes, i think the expression that ear com used that israel is sewing the seeds of some destruction is very apt. if israel wanted peace, then it would end the occupation, that is what the demand has been for uh decades, that is what will bring peace to the region. israel is not interested in peace, it's interested in water, it's interested in annexing the entirety of palestine, this isn't going to succeed, it
6:42 am
hasn't succeeded in all these decades, it's not succeeding now, when israel invaded the gaza strip back in october, the israeli government expected a quick, a quick victory, a quick defeat for for hamas in gaza, this did not happen because they underestimate the strength of the resistance, underestimated the will of the palestinian people, we're seeing that in the west bank as uh israeli terrorists are killing, arresting mass numbers of people, killing people uh, bulldozing roads, uh, just making life miserable for the people of the west bank uh uh of the palestinans of west bank, they are, this is not going to bring peace, this is not going to lead to security for the israeli state, it's only going to continue to make it extremely insecure, people are going to be afraid in their homes as they are now, and they have reason to be because their government is committing genocide against the people who will not stand for it, who will not allow it and will not not sit still for
6:43 am
it, and as you mentioned, this current uh act was by a jordanian national, so it isn't just palestinian it is jordanians, it's syrians, yumenis, people from lebanon, from iraq, these people are all opposing zionist state and they are becoming more and more uh more public, more bold about it, because the zionist state is involved. in genocide and that is not being tolerated by many of the people throughout the middle east. the resistance will continue to grow. israel will not be able to to break the back of the resistance and they will pay up heavy price for their long decades of oppression. thank you very much - that was uh sarah flounders international from the international action center in new york and also robert fontina, author and journalist joining us from kishner. thanks for sharing your thoughts and views on this edition of the news review, and that brings us to the end of this edition.
6:44 am
thank you for watching. thousands in the jordanian capital aman have gathered for a symbolic funeral for maher aljazi, the jordanian national, who killed three israeli forces near a bridge connecting. with the occupied west bank. aljazi's martterdom has ignited widespread solidarity and outraging jordan and the region. our correspondent rad butus has more in this report. for many jordanians, maril jazi's actions are nothing short of heroic. the 39-year-old killed three israeli forces before being shot dead at the king hussein bridge. vital link between jordan and the occupied west bank. on sunday,
6:45 am
amman erupted in a wave of defiance as thousands held a symbolic funeral for aljazi whose martidom has sparked search of solidarity and outrage across the region. this hero, mahar jazi al-huitat, from one of the largest tribes in southern jordan, affirmed that the jordanian people, with their tribes, stand firmly with the resistance. in palestine and gaza, they cannot remain silent about the pure blood being shed profusely in gaza. the jordanian and palestinian blood is one, and this is a signal to the jordanian people. and the jordanian army to prepare for the threats, war is coming, to many jordanians, what aljazi did is seen as a heroic act of defiance against the occupation, turning his martterdom into a symbol of courage and pride. every single jordanian today is seeing the martter today as hero. we are
6:46 am
celebrating, 11 million jordanian are celebrating, we are feeling that we are standing with gaza. real with blood, the jordanian people are very proud of what the and he is considered a murder. according to jordan's ministry of interior, aljazi was crossing the king hussein bridge in a cargo truck carrying commercial goods to the west bank. the ministry also reported that all jordanian truck drivers have been released following the investigations. the administrators and am are sending a clear message. there is no choice but action against the israeli regime. symbolic funeral isn't just a tribute, it's a passionate call for change and resistance. press tv. the israeli regime has carried out fresh strikes on syria targeting number of military sites in the arab countries northwest with missiles and drones. syrian media say at least five
6:47 am
people were killed and nearly 20 others injured in the attacks that targeted the city. hamam. syrian officials say that several of those injured are in critical condition. the syrian ministry of defense says the country's air defense system managed to intercept and shoot down a number of missiles and drones. israel routinely carries out air strikes on syria, often targeting the country's military positions. damascus has time and again called on the us security council, the un security council, that is, to put an end to the regimes attacks on syrians and argues that the strikes violate the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and several people have been killed and many more injured in fresh israeli missile and drone strikes in syria, as we explained earlier, our correspondent in
6:48 am
damascus. ibrahim watti joined us with more details. and according to the statement of the syrian ministry of defense at 23:20 on september 8th 2024 the israel the enemy launched an air aggression from the direction of northwest lebanon targeting number of military sites in the central region our air defenses our defense system sorry confronted their missiles and shut down some of them the last attack however was carried out by drones one of which had ambulant and sam photographer azzam was injured while covering the israel aggression and was transferred immediately to the national hospital in now in detail the israel aggression targeted the scientific research center in the in hama countryside which resulted also in a big fire and big fires actually erupting in two
6:49 am
mountain areas civil defense fire fighting and rescue teams all rushed to the targeted areas. according or sources, fire fighting teams are still struggling to about to put out the fire, the enemy launched more than 15 missiles in the in the first aggression in three ways from two different access first ex from the from over the mediterranean passing through the air space of idlip in north northern syria, we need to highlight something important, the professional collector performance in real war condition that was demonstrated by the syrian air defense network this night, the enemy launched attack a number of pre determined targets only to be met with a massive response from the air defense that intercepted and chopped down most of the incoming missile. the hazullah resistance movement has launched a new round of
6:50 am
operations against israeli targets in the occupied territories and solidarity with palestinians and response to the regime's intensified attacks on civilian areas in lebanon. our correspondent maram saleh gave us an update. well the issue this evening, the israelis launched several bombs towards the town of kris, actually in areas that are towards the outskirts of the town closer to the sultania town. this is area that is inhabited, it is far away from the border, and so we learned that hazbullah launched a direct retaliation against that attack saying that they launched a swarm of drones towards the alzaura baracks where they said they targeted the ardome launchers as as well as positions for israeli officers and soldiers, leaving scores of israeli soldiers and officers killed or wonded, they also launched some fore operations alone for the massacer
6:51 am
that was committed in the area of fun where paramedics and firefighters were launching civil civil uh fighters actually were trying to stop the fires from the night before and that led to the martyrdom of three and injuring two hasball in addition to the earlier operations in the morning. where they launch ketusha rockets and flok rockets towards um in addition to the ketchusha rockets towards shamir, they also launched another drone attack towards the al-naqura coastal base where they said they targeted directly soldiers. iran's islamic revolution guards course says israel will taste the bitterness of revenge for its vicious act. in the west asia region. the irgc chief commander major general hussein salomi said that the zionist cannot escape the retaliation and they will see when, where and
6:52 am
how it will occur. general salomi added that the revenge will take place differently. the remarks are apparent a reference to iran's repeated pledge to retaliate against the israeli assassination of hamas chief ismail hania in tehran in late july. the irgc chief commander also. appointed to mass protests against israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu over his failure to secure the release of the captive cell in gaza. salami said israel is unable to continue its current political existence, adding that the regime's officials are confused these days. he noted that the war has been spread to the occupied territories. anthony hall, a professor of global. organization at canada's letbridge university says the israeli prime minister is doing everything he can to expand the war across the region and attempt to save his
6:53 am
political career. let's a listen: the murder the chief negotiator for hamas, this requires some response, which hasn't been forthcoming. we've had a long time where ceicifire, maybe yes, maybe no, this. the other thing uh and now the uh israeli government is upping the anti, there's no hamas involved, but they're going to war, outright war with the palestinians in the west bank, uh, maybe in israel they want to widen the war to involve iran, because they don't look, as long as the focus is on gaza, uh, many people around the world identify with gaza, they don't necessarily identify with iran and aren't. going to all be inclined to see iran in a positive light, so maybe israel is hoping that they can get iran involved to some extent, because of course it's no secret that
6:54 am
they want to uh netanyahu wants to drag usa into a war with iran, it's been his goal really of of his lifetime, so the general of the islamic revolutionary guards is making it clear that the uh response has not yet occurred, that it's going to be surprising. i am quite sure that general salami's words uh have lot of meaning behind it, that there is going to be a change of tactics that new sorts of weaponry and new sorts of strategy are going to come into play. that brings us to the end of this edition of world news on press tv. thank you for watching.
6:55 am
