residents and it overlooks the iraqi city of halapja. the road from desle to the border regimen is a long and treacherous one and feels like winter even in summer. in the winter of 1987, very important military operation was to be carried out in these winding roads. the operation had the potential to change the outcome of the iraq-iran war. the aim of the operation was to destroy iraq's infrastructure. one of the battalions deployed to the region was the imam hussein battalion from markazi province.

from all warfronts, among them 23-year-old ali jalali. their mission in the operation was to destroy iraq's largest water dam in darvandihan threeway. in the evening of february 20th, the forces headed towards the iran-iraq border from their camp. site in a village called after crossing the border they move towards darbani khan.
