in iran and other countries, imagine waking up every day, knowing that the day before you have murdered tens, if not hundreds of people, and that your mission for the day is to do the same, now imagine if you have been doing that every day for the past year, well that is what is really officials and regime forces in turn have been doing for
5:03 am
a whole year, the october 7 one year anniversary. that is what we'll be looking at in today's program, the atrocities that have happened, but more importantly, how the existential threat to the israeli regime, aside from the death and the destruction is the fact that they are looking down an economic abys with the onslot cost increasing by the day if not by the hour. why? because they have also opened up new fronts when it comes to this gen vidal war, which at this point has transpired over the past year, and it has shook the world in terms of the world-based order, not even being applicable. some of today's highlights, operation flood, changing regional equations, the true nature of israel and the us as a result has been revealed. also, the us, accomplice of genocide to the israeli regime, in some cases may be directing the israeli regime. then,
5:04 am
the israely economy to have been decimated, the damage that it has done, credit rating downgrades, just one of the problems that it is experienced, large budget deficit as a result because the war costs are accumulating, one of the impacts of this business closures and another boycotting israel, which has gained momentum throughout this past year, even before the onslot began. of next, the impact that this uh genocidal war has had on both the gaza strip and the west bank, we're looking at that one example, the reconstruction for the gaza strip to top $80 billion, some say that's even a small figure that is much higher, the west bank unemployment uh to have hit 32% and then the gdp loss in the occupied west bank minus 32.8%. time now for some social media posts, let's take a look at some of them that we picked for this occasion october 7th, uh first one um leader yahya sinmar, the terror
5:05 am
of the zionis and their lies, the next war will change the shape of the earth. this is what samwar predicted actually few years ago, and it has actually begun to come true. next, of just in case you didn't know it yet, this is a reminder that cnn and uh genocide joe's administration both lied about beheaded babies on october 7th to give israel the excuse that they needed to ethnically cleansed palestinians. then since october 7, 2023, the us has significantly supported israel, this includes military equipment and supplies, vedoing un security council resolutions, 12 and a half billion dollars in military aid, just in one instance, and the military presence, like the us is gerald r. ford, on your own, in reference to the picture. next, uh, the prelue to the video that you're about to see, where australian people have reacted to 650 pages of palestinians killed by the israeli military in the gaza strip since october 7th. where
5:06 am
the first 14 pages were babies under one year, so i want you to hold these for me, and i want you to tell me what do you think these are, can you look at this and tell me what do you think this is, what do you think this is? honestly no clue, i don't know, is it some kind of voting thing, phone number? so these are the names of all the palestinians that have been killed since october 7th, it's... the names, the birthdays of the people that have been killed since october 7th in gaza. and finally, another video, since october 7, israely officials have made calls to spread of the brutal onslot in gaza to lebanon. as of september 24, israely attacks on lebanon have killed at least 558 people. that figure by the way is up uh to a thousand or more, including women and children, injured thousands forcing the exodus of tens of thousands.
5:07 am
קשה בחסבלה, אפשר לפרק את לבנון, תפסיק לשחרר סרטוני אבועלי, ובוא נתחיל להגיב, לתקוף מלחמה עכשיו, כי אם חזבלה יבחר לפתוח במלחמה כוללת, אז הוא במו ידיו יהפוך את בירות ותדרום לבנון, לא רחוק מכאן לעזר ולכניונס. all right, those were some of the postts that we picked for you. and the social media world, let's bring in our guests for the first segment of the q&a. uh, joining us first uh is shabnam palessa muhammad, she is an award-winning human rights activist, journalist and lawyer. taking a look at october 7th, uh, one year since operation isla flood uh, has been executed, the israeli regime year later is
5:08 am
finding itself in a quagmyer, especially economically, uh, the war costs have obviously accumulated for them, um, but their approach is that they don't want to stop, they want to continue this aggression, um, why do you think that? taking that kind of approach and are opening up other fronts like uh it's a war in lebanon? so the actual agenda is what is euphemistically called territorial expansion, but we should more accurately call it land and resource theft in developing what the israeli regime calls greater israel, and netanyahu and others have made it very clear that they intend to expand... israel's alleged borders to encompass palestine, lebanon, syria, iraq and even saudi arabia. so this explains why israel has embarked on this genocidal and frankly psychopathic mission to now attack
5:09 am
lebanon while committing a genocide in palestine. in addition to that israel, via netanyahu and others have have confirmed their interest in establishing the ben gurion canal to rival the sewis canal, and in order for them to do this, in their minds they have to decimate the indigenous sovereign population of palestine or anyone or any country that happens to stand in its way. all right, thank you so much for that. let me bring in our next guest, dr. k, ism sulim joins us, post doctoral researcher, department of political sciences at the university of pretoria. she's also part time presenter. women uh, welcome to the program, dr. sulayman. oh, thank you for having me. let's ask you about the fact that we're looking at uh, the one year anniversary of this october 7th operational flood, and what your thoughts are on this? we're looking at the belligenant israel regime in terms of how it's acting out. at the same time that it's
5:10 am
suffering economically getting worse by the day. it continues to want to expand the war now to lebanon from what we have seen, which has been quite deadly. does the regime realize what it's doing to itself economically? which could pose a threat to the regime as a whole? so thank you for the question, what we basically need to understand is that israel is now on the back foot and behaves as if it is in a vacuum, however its position of madness is strengthened by the leverage it has over the us and over western leaders, whether by cororsion, blackmail or the indisputable fact that all of these states simply do not want designist thugs back in their countries, so they will do whatever it takes. to keep them out, even at the cost of palestinin lives. what israel also has is false sense of bravado, a belief that it is invincible. you know, my dad always used to say, those whom the gods wish to destroy, they first make mad, and this is often used to describe the
5:11 am
self-destructive decisions made by powerful individuals or civilizations on the brink of collapse. now, this is exactly where israel is. however, zihenism is... neither a civilization nor does it constitute powerful individuals, what it is is a malicious cult with viral members, so the reality is that it has no civilization values, that's why they steal, they plunder, they murder, they rape and they justify this actions, and they do it over and over again, exactly as you said, first and occupy palestinian territories, then gaza, now lebanon, and of course they've been doing it in syria as well, so their most abhorent trait is that they are a cult of liers. it's time now for the info news section of the program, we picked for this particular episode um all uh news in this section that's related to israel's economy,
5:12 am
including uh the gaza and the west bank. uh first up we're going to take a look at uh what has been now plaguing israel and that's his credit rating. in this case, moodies has... downgraded it, moodi's investor service, you may have heard of it, the sovereign credit rating has been downgraded, where it has cited israel's persistent military aggression in the occupied territories as well as this warmongerings. in other regions, including south lebanon, is based on moodies at the heart of this downgrade. now another problem that lies here, israel's extreme right-wing ideology has been plagued by internal divisions and also lack of consensus on key issues. uh, in terms of israel's economy, the next entry is overall regarding that, how it's battered, you have 11, almost a year, not almost a year, year of a war that's battered the economy, one of the consequences that the gdp contraction by 4.1%, it happened right after weeks after october 7, operational flood, the
5:13 am
downturn has continued into 2024 and it has fallen by additional 1.1% and 1.4% in the first uh two quarters at this point. now in terms of the cost, that's our nextuh entry of uh this onslot, we're looking how the is war costs in terms of the onslot has now reached to roughly 60. 7.3 billion dollars and that's based a warning that has come from economists, israel's budget deficit um has reached 8.1% um as of last july, the deficit is much larger at this point uh some of the reasons cited for it uh other evacuees wounded and many economic needs that are not even counted into the cost of this onslot. next up uh israel's gdp, well it has been affected in so many ways um "the war costts could reach 10% of the gdp, it has raised urgent challenges for the israel regime
5:14 am
because of it. now let's take take a look at the long-term implications of uh some of these onslots cost. primarily, it involves a significant loss of wealth, that's pretty obvious. um, we're also talking about tens of billions of dollars, uh, roughly 10% of the annual gdp, and uh, naturally, this represents a substantial loss of wealth that will need to be paid one way or another. in that ski, how that's going to happen, it's anybody's guess at this point, because israel is a war footing. well, those were some of the items that we picked. we have expanded more on that in uh our in-depth section for example, and perhaps in our reports, uh, so uh, that is another thing wanted to point out. now, if you have a piece of news in your part of the world with economic flavor, do send them to us, we really do appreciate it. contact information is coming up.
5:15 am
firstly i want to tell the journalists who want to report from the frontlines that they shouldn't go there in search of fame, instead they should bear a message and have cause to defend. the media warfare is essential because the camera has become a weapon ache into the rifle. and the missile used by the resistance fighters. media is double-ed sword and we should wield it carefully. indeed, rifles and cameras have become complementary weapons, we can't separate them. our message is to support the truth against the falsehood. it's time now for the in-depth
5:16 am
section of the program. the economic damage that the us-israely genocidal war against palestinians has incurred on the israely regime is one that continues to get worse a daily basis. meanwhile the occupied west bank and the gaza strip. they are also suffering from this genocide. and now the israel regime is continuing down this destructive economic path by targeting lebanon. well the following. are some of the outcomes of the onslot, including the wars. first up, let's take a look at what has happened regarding a credit downgrade, four times the israel regime has actually experienced that mudies uh has downgraded it twice, warning of a junk status, it also maintained a negative outlook, it warned of material negative consequences for israel's credit worthiness in both the near and the longer term. this is top obviously of the other credit agencies that you see behind me, like fitchen, moodies all. bad news for israel, like when it comes to getting loans, well the israeli war
5:17 am
machine is in overdrive now that it has attack lebanon, the war costs are spiraling out of control, warning by the economists has come regarding its gdp, when you add the economic uh war cost, it's costing uh the israeli regime 10% of the gdp, so that's quite a big number. next, the tech sector in israel, over the year it has taken... beating not only because of this genocidal war by the way, but also because of lebanon. mind you, this is sector which began faltering before the onslot. these are some of the figures that you see and... terms of the economy, we mentioned the 10% gdp, 2023 investments, $1.3 billion dollars was what it has been reduced to the investment slump minus 53%, and then the venture capital is down 70%. imagine that, all of this for sector that contributes 20% to israel's economy, so that's quite a
5:18 am
bit of a hit to say the least that the sector has taken, now and one of the big biggest signals that this regimes's economy is doing poorly is when it announced these uh closures uh we're looking at since october 7th 46,00 businesses to have been closed uh, that's a lot of businesses, i'm sure you agree. now top of that, it has predicted that once the year 2024 ends, up to 60,00 businesses may close, mostly small businesses. now given this scenario, let's not forget many of these businesses had loans out from israely banks like the one that you see here, israel's bank li on just the results of the fourth quarter, we're looking at $492 million in profits versus the 2022 profits 2.3 billion, see how much of slump there is there uh now when it comes to the way that the losses have accumulated in terms of the loans themselves uh we took a look at that uh we're looking
5:19 am
from minus 84 million dollars okay uh that's now uh up to 180. million dollars for the year 2023, quite a bit of losses when it comes just to the loans. now here's a look at four different indicators that you see here, the inflation rate of israel, its employment rate, then gaza and the west bank in terms of their gdp. the israely inflation rate, as you can see is creeping up uh july 2023 upwards where you see there of around about 5%. now the unemployment rate, it's about a little over 60%, so that means around 40 roughly perc of the israely. "i guess citizens there don't have a job, including palestinians to work there. now look at the gaza's gdp, as you can see from the year 2019 uh, how it has slumped and it came to the big drop that you see in 2024, which is uh around uh almost 90% of drop that you see there, and then the gdp the west bank, also it has faltered, we
5:20 am
didn't go through the specifics there uh, but in terms of just from last year up to the year that's coming to an end in 20." 24 looking at negative 35%. all right, so that gives you an overall view, some snapshots of uh what this genocidal onslot has done to not only the israel regime, but also for palestine and of course the gaza strip. let's bring back our guests and see what they think. uh, joining, rejoining us now is uh our guest shabnam palessa mohammed. she is an award winning human rights activist, journalist and lawyer. all right, shaman, welcome back to the. program, so let's take a look at the genocide that has taken place in the gaza strip, including these uh now exploding devices uh that has happened in lebanon, you're looking at the the way that the israeli regime is targeted there, and of course massacers that are now extending beyond the gaza strip. israel's making the world a less safer place, and i'm sure that has some impact in terms of this violent
5:21 am
behavior on the world economy, what do you think? well, it is completely out of control, its inception, the u.s. government may thought that may have thought that it could control the settler colony as a bunker in the middle east essentially to terrorize control and leach resources from the countries around it, but it has shown that it has grown far beyond the control of the us, and when you look at the power and influence of apec, for example, almost all the politicians on the us and on elections and on their so-called democracy, i don't think the us has any control whatsoever over is... including the fact that mosad and epsteen, for example, have information which can be used as blackmail against us politicians, and that's part of why they behave the way they do. all right, thank you for that. let's bring back doctor suleiman, who's active at the university of pretoria and post doctoral researcher in the department of political
5:22 am
sciences. uh, welcome back, taking a look at this regime's behavior, it's quite telling how "it has moved beyond the gaza strip, even though that's still being attacked by them, to lebanon, and perhaps to the wider region, surely this must impact not only the security the economy of these regions, but maybe beyond. how would you describe uh israel's violent behavior? doesn't it jeopardize the world economy uh ultimately? well, these two states are, that means the us and israel are perious states, and considering that the world has allowed these two parias in months." to grow, because literally everyone, i think every state at some point in their history has bow down to them and done some boot leaking, so i would believe that the consequence. of this is that everyone will pay the price for negative impact on the economy, we are not going to be spared, trust me, they will be consequences, it's inevitable, and secondly, the only way to
5:23 am
quarterize the cancerous growth that is israel, the us and many of these other races settler colonial states is through the economy, you know, there's nothing better than to hurt the pocket because of the love for money, and this is the fundamental root of all of all of this evil, people are put down for the benefit of financial gain. given the fact that this is october 7th, one year since operation alasa flood uh has taken off over the past year uh we have actually had 80% of uh this program economic divide dedicated to the way that this has impacted not only this religion but also the gaza strip and the occupied west bank and we've had uh so many good guests that actually made some great contributions. so this segment is dedicated, not dedicated but will entil... some of the statements um that we thought was important that might be of interest so that we don't lose uh the important uh information that was presented by them, so well let's
5:24 am
take a look at what these guests had to say: the nature of the war itself and the timing, the surprising element of how it started on october 7th, all this played a factor uh an important factor in in the cost of this war, as a result, the israeli economy has been somewhat, i would say semi paralyzed, the group that is protesting google's involvement in the project nimbus contract is called notech for apart, that group is made up of google workers who are tired of hearing google management say that they are um work to uh to make the world better place. like all oftex says um and they are standing up for the rights of palestinians um to not be bombarded by um uh by israel using google
5:25 am
technologies. we know that google's biot is used by israel, we know that it's used by the idf and documents came out recently that show that it is used as part of the current genocide in gaza. yeah, no, the mcdonald's boycot in israel is certainly showing to be very effective. the mcdonald's there supported the israeli troops by giving them free meals, uh, and which is what sparked the initial boycot a few weeks ago, and since then, the entire franchise in israel for mcdonald's has lost so much money that the parent company, based out of chicago, has to had to buy back its franchises, the... cannot show a loss for any mcdonald's around the world, so this was their only move, which is to buy it back to take it out of the control the franchises and we're going to start
5:26 am
seeing other companies go the same way. no, that is uh, such an important question, so i think that so much attention is given to what happens on the battlefield, and the tragic loss of life of innocent palestinian women and children. uh in the tens of thousands that some have called a genocide, but i think that uh, the real battle uh or how this uh conflict will be decided may not take place on the battlefield, but to use a term from clausuits on war that the real center of gravity uh is the economy and the relationship that israel has with the united states, well, i think you have to put this in the historical context, which is what the
5:27 am
state of israel is doing is actually to apply colonial practices which the west has been engaged in since 1492 when columbus columbus first landed in the bahamas and actually destroyed the entire chino population of the bahamas, the method of... controlling a population which is colonized is still extent in canada where i've been for 15 years and in the usa, and it's part of the colonial history of the usa, so it it's baked into the way that the usa conducts itself, and later we'll be discussing, but i think israel is essentially a client state of the usa in many respects. well, as i say, you know, given the way in which israel is running the war and running the economy to support the war, israel can only... sustain the war and its cost as long as support from the united states, europe and the israeli diaspora continues. first of all, as far as a europe
5:28 am
is concerned as you know, more and more european governments like spain and ireland in particular, have become extremely critical of israel, support for israel will decline, and if the governments remain steadfast then they will face internal opposition which will be mounting. "the appetite of the israely regime for death and destruction is so strong that some have concluded that it will continue down this rampage to include other countries in the west asia region and for it to take land away from other countries as a result, never mind the economic destruction for the regime. does it think that other countries however are going to sit idly by while their land is
5:29 am
being taken away, and by the way uh..." "the prime minister netanyahu divided the west asia region when he went to the unga, calling it one side the blessing, the other, the curse, but who is the curse now? that does for this edition of the program. hopefully you enjoyed it, it was look at the year of a genocide which is still so shocking in the depth of it. however, uh, for those who are longing for this to change, hopefully that uh, patience is going to pay off. for me, it happy and the tire team here at economic divide, it's goodbye. til the next program.
5:30 am
keeping you up to date with world news every half hour on press tv. the headlines hisbollah's rocket barrage strike israel's bases and settlements including major military intelligence base near tel aviv. israel's in discriminated strikes kill more women and children across gaza raising the death doll from the regime's genocide to over 41,900.
