11:33 pm
home sales at their lowest in over a decade in wages so low that america competes with india for some call center jobs they take a look at whether the economy could get worse stay with us on our team. it's time for our tool time winner tonight and this time it goes to a guest host on fox news radio host laura ingram was filling in last night on the o'reilly factor and as usual she was full of hate and spewing all kinds of information that just wasn't true but her reasoning that president obama must be a muslim was just saying take a listen. christmas day for instance i've written about this so there's no these fact christmas day of last year president doesn't go to church doesn't go christmas eve you there in hawaii he goes to the gym and works out now for a president united states that just seems a little odd it doesn't mean. so if i follow laura's logic correctly
11:34 pm
then because obama likes to work out that that automatically makes him a muslim is that in the koran or something to be a muslim we have to have a six pack of buns of steel i'm really not sure floor which is having a bad night maybe came up with a gym reference or maybe who knows the chemicals more blonde hair dye we're frying your brain but the president is a muslim we get that straight you've seen him a church he's discussed his faith numerous times but first some reason ingram and the other loons can't seem to let it go so laura stop the obama's a muslim crap you're just embarrassing yourself and at least find a better story than the fact that he went to the gym and that's why lower income is tonight's to all time winner. now facebook everyone's favorite social networking site is making headlines yet again and this time it's not about their privacy issues or some comment from their c.e.o. mark zuckerberg say this time the company is taking a stance against as
11:35 pm
a support the legalization of marijuana supporters of legalization which is on the california ballot in two thousand and ten are trying to place ads on the social networking site but they've run in to a little bit of a problem facebook initially accepted ads from the group just say now and ran them for about a week in which time the groups fan page grew to some six thousand members but then they were about abruptly removed facebook says that the ad was pulled because the ad had an image of a leaf now the company says it is partly as classified as a tobacco product so therefore it's unacceptable under their policies and the just say now campaign is arguing with facebook saying that their ad is for marijuana not tobacco and therefore should be allowed on the site you know without a doubt the ad being removed from facebook is a blow to the organization's efforts to get pot legalized in california the group was using this site to gather signatures on college can't college campuses and to register young people to vote so what i think is
quote
11:36 pm
a really interesting here is how and when facebook decides to be a progressive company when it comes to trampling on users' privacy well then facebook invokes its role of being on the cutting edge of privacy norms but then when it comes to allowing an ad for legalization or just say now calls at the end of probation with a marijuana leave in the logo a movement that is gaining a lot of traction in the quote mainstream america while that may just go back fifty years or so i think it's time to choose facebook what type of company you are are you modern are you cutting edge and progressive or are you a censoring old timer. now when it comes. the economy seems like all the news that we ever hear is negative u.s. home sales are at their lowest level in more than a decade wages are falling to the point that it's cheaper to hire americans for call centers and workers in india which i think might actually good thing and
11:37 pm
c.n.n. money is warning of five more investing levels that are about to pop so should we be scared or should we just read between the lines and realize that perhaps american culture is changing to a more stable secure and smart way here to discuss it with me as anthony ran down as a director of economic research for the reason foundation anthony thanks for being here and let's start with a story actually that i did not bring up in this introduction which is the fact that john boehner today came out gave a speech and he called for obama to fire his economic advisers pacifically tim geithner and larry summers now do you agree with this you know what do you think of this call to get them next well it's it's a political it's a political speech to. the leader of the republicans in the house of representatives is probably going to be the speaker of the house coming up he's saying this from a political spectrum but i think that what is being objective being objective and not coming from the republican sort of talking points if you look at what's
11:38 pm
happened with the economy since obama took over the ministration likes to blame any bad things on the bush administration but we are nineteen months in that we're about all the way through one full two years in the economy is starting to look even worse than it was before there were some uptick in thing every day pretty much every indicator is saying we've got some bad things coming up so what is it if if the economy is not looking good somebody is going to take the blame for it of course and that's why my question is is this really about tim geithner or is just about the fact that anybody who would be the treasury secretary at this moment probably you know would obviously get bad ratings and people would want to mount. i think i think that that's a fair percentage of the you know they want it. and i think it's absolutely fair that you can't put everything on tim geithner you can put everything on larry summers and christina romer but personally i think that their response has been completely wrong and what they have done is they put it like
11:39 pm
a lot of short term growth in the first sort of first year of the obama administration to try to gain the p.r. and it hasn't worked out long term even if there's a lot of bad things that are not out that are outside of their control what tim geithner and larry summers and even ben bernanke have done to control the economy and to try and push this forward i think it's been a mistake. to say that he should be fired doesn't talk about who are going to replace him with i mean. tim geithner is not the worst person that could be in that job so they could fire him put him so now. i want to talk about the fact that like i said home sales are at their lowest level in more than a decade and this is despite the fact that right now home prices are down the market really is horrible to despite the fact that interest rates are incredibly incredibly low so why do you think that is that the home prices are still so we do have to take what came out was the numbers on existing home sales and they dropped
11:40 pm
twenty five percent from last year at this point twenty seven percent from last month and it's the lowest point they've been fifteen years so that is a really really dismal market one of the reasons that it's like that is that there's been a lot of homes purchased in the past eighteen months because of the first time home buyers credit a number of other government subsidies that have tried to encourage people to buy homes but in the process of trying to encourage people to buy homes they've taken a lot of demand from the future and they've stuck it last year and they stuck it in january of this year and they stuck it in april of this year so prices kind of went up and now they're falling down no one's buying a home right now because everybody that was going to buy a home now it was going to buy a home for the rest of this year has already bought their house and so we basically juice the no. to try and show that the housing market is recovering and now we see that actually it's not recovery there's a lot of latency there's a lot of negative things that are going on in the housing market and it's going to it's going to be a problem but tell me this i mean is it really so bad that people aren't buying homes you know because you could say that in
11:41 pm
a lot of ways the american lifestyle really was one that no longer subscribe to reality you know a lot of people would say the idea that every american family needs to own a home just isn't isn't realistic you know so so could we be now you know it look at these numbers and they're dismal maybe could this be you know starting some huge shift in the way that americans approach their living on their lifestyle that this could absolutely be a new normal and if that's the case i'm actually completely on board with that the problems with that r.'s that there's losses in the economy and it kind of drags out the recovery but if we're really to accept that as you just said we live in a new economy in the twenty first century we're more mobile the whole concept of home ownership in the value of what we thought it all of that stuff is being pushed away and it may not be the best thing for everybody to own a home now so it just may be that the new normal for the housing market is going to be much lower than it was before it's certainly going to be a lot lower than two thousand and five and two thousand and six when we were juicing the housing bubble with a lot of free money so if this is the new normal and that's what people's people
11:42 pm
are really demanding i'm all for that and i think that's a good thing we just have to be willing to accept that market as american people and not complain that people are not buying homes it's bad enough and we can we can without government as you know i don't know i don't think it would be the worst thing either now you're thinking of bubbles you know the housing bubble. first a horrible example but these days you know there are we have all kinds of warnings there's a new report today that came out telling us about five new bubbles that investors should worry about and it covered everything from cotton to goal of to the entire chinese economy you know and i just what all of a sudden we are all so scared and we're constantly looking a bubbles you know is this a good thing to you because. you know we had this huge crashing it made before no one actually realized things couldn't be good for ever and eventually things are going to crash so you know is that a positive or is it a negative because now we're just always anticipating bubbles that may or may not pop well people have more people in the market have always even before this big
11:43 pm
financial crash have there been always people pointing at this point to a bubble or this is this stock is too high we're using the language of bubbles now because it's sort of in the new lingua franca but people have always said ok well this stock is too high or the market's too high it's going to crash again but what is the average person is seeing this you know flash paper is every day it's it is now normal to be pessimistic it's safer to be pessimistic it's safer to say look you know gold has been rising continuously it's gonna fall at some point which is a safe bet because if it keeps going up nobody's going to come back to you and complain whereas if you say gold's going to go up for the next ten years in a crash is that everybody points at you so everybody kind of saw that it was a mistake for most of financial experts to not find housing bubble but here's the thing it is really really difficult to try and predict anything that's going on stocks and i was in college a professor who tried to make this point by putting up some slides on the screen and he showed a line input of dates on the base is this is the s. and p.
11:44 pm
and it's going up and it stops at the edge of screen says now would you buy at this market or sell there but as well we would probably buy it's going up and then it puts the rest of the line it was actually the dot com bubble and then the rest of the chart kind of collapses around every now and then he puts up another chart with the lines going down and he says would you buy this and we said well no it's going down in the in the he puts up the rest of the chart it was wal-mart right at the beginning and it spikes appraiser earns five hundred percent over the next couple years. it's really difficult to try to predict these things so people are going to be they're going to be pessimistic right now there's some good reason to be pessimistic i think the chinese economy is going to fall apart so that's you know i think that's one of the i would agree with an addict ability is definitely you know it's not funny everything. so. about tonight's show my own kludged moment over equal rights for women when it comes to going topless in public and the tea party guide to surviving d.c. a male that's making headlines for telling tea baggers to avoid metro rail and to be careful because arabs and black people also happen to live in the district well
11:45 pm
get comedian stephen smith take on the issue in just a moment. the issue is the same on the taxpayers' money for me to do what i say is never a real mystery and it's not just the world means the return of robin hood should the rich be taxed more for the benefit of everyone else and what kind of. disarming saddam hussein. has maturity of the iraqi citizens. this event brings further assurance that the torture chambers and the secret police are gone forever. as again over embassy in kabul. chance to launch occupied afghanistan. now occupy sales at guantanamo bay. in the manner.
11:46 pm
that is appropriate today and in accordance as much as we can with the kid even. if a slap stomach slap if you can should diminish so that it shocks them especially if it gets slapped but you don't actually break any bones could deter occasion techniques that we. all approve but the senior leadership of our government. would be a nothing to. we believe the sense for. for the feel we've got. the biggest issues get the invoice face to face with the news
11:47 pm
makers. this weekend about two hundred protesters this past weekend including twenty women wearing nothing but red tape across their nipples showed up in venice beach california to protest gender inequality now why the red pastries you might be asking well because according to these women if men are allowed to walk around shirtless and bare their chests in public then women should be allowed to and i must say i agree with them i mean sure my caused quite the stir first breasts have become such a highly sexualized part of our bodies but believe me people will get used to it now maybe everyone except for a few means fear of the evil spewing bad christians take a look at this man who has held her protesting the topless women this weekend. thank god bless you grace can certainly playing
11:48 pm
a trick she's lovely and i don't know where i stand sure this is about going in the right to bare breasts where men can bury their breasts. bless this woman with breast cancer this guy serious are good christians opposed to love everyone and everything that god made including boobs we no matter what your opinion on this issue that right there is a perfect example of religion being used in the wrong way to wish a life threatening disease on someone else would have been the love thy neighbor anyway that to the issue at hand all i'm saying is that i believe in the freedom of choice not saying that women should always walk around topless in busy city streets or in offices but if you're out on the beach on the beach if you're trying to get some sun to try to get a tan and you want to not wear a top i say go ahead and those who think that this would just be too who crazy to become acceptable i suggest you take a little trip to europe and hey i want to top
11:49 pm
a speech you'll see that nobody there cares quite the opposite when women go topless everyone wins. a pro-life organization out of colorado held a press conference to unveil their first radio ad personhood colorado believes that this spot is going to help push their ballot initiative take a listen. george stevens and i am a person i was filled as privilege. in the form of birth i was told to me in america it wouldn't work. for. you to be with you now it's just. that today in color there are still people for our children just like our and then america. is all around and. that you are putting caps last part of the part where he compares fetuses to slaves
11:50 pm
is the according to personhood colorado unborn children are treated as property so anyone who is pro-life supports the killing of property which is one of their ballot initiatives all about now the proposal which is called amendment sixty two which changed the wording of person in the state constitution to cover the beginning of biological development of the biological development of a human being and the activist groups hope hopes that this amendment does pass on the upcoming ballots and they also acknowledge the fact that it would ultimately ban abortions in the entire state of colorado now i think this ridiculous campaign ad should be making people outraged first of all they're trying to create some sort of sympathy for their position by using it so lavery and they're doing this by creating a fake slave for an advertisement then they're going to try and compare a the abortion debate to the civil war i mean i just i don't think i've spent too
11:51 pm
much time calling out this organizations idiocy all i can say is that this is going to encourage anyone who is on the fence about this issue to vote against the boneheads who think that a fetus suffers hardships like the slaves did campaign ad it failed. now moving on from that the tea party is coming to town thanks to glenn beck planning a massive event this weekend on the anniversary of martin luther king jr's i have a dream speech but it seems that the fearless tea party patriots are a little scared for their nation's capital not because of all the evils dalgleish of politicians but because of all the black people that's right there's been a guy distributed on line for the tea partiers to teach them about where in the city is safe to go what metro lines will keep them in the non scary parts and well for us d.c. residents it's kind of funny so i brought in someone who knows the city even better than myself to tell us exactly what they'll be avoiding by following these
11:52 pm
guidelines aside of course from black people joining me here is comedian stephen smith well let me hear you very well thank you things recovered in i want you to break down some of the basics for me in terms of the metro map of where they say it is ok to go what lines are ok to take and which ones are you know sure where will they be going where will they not be going in the city i mean i mean i guess structurally and just on paper i guess the plan was all right let's what's the widest safest neighborhoods we can go to and they chose about four or five metro stops in d.c. i mean it's a very good thing that they would do the black the city of america dozens of all right how can we avoid black white black people that was the best player. listen listen i'm not going to feign tea party all right now i'm going to race is going to . the eight point race i would love to atack you think this ultimately proves that the tea party is racist no no no because literally i've had the same conversation with my friends i went to atlanta two weeks ago and i was like where is the hood at
11:53 pm
so i can avoid it i'm trying to walk in the store i mean i learned it's understandable when you're watching the say but some of these they are saying you have to completely avoid the green line and the yellow line at all costs i mean they say like they didn't say avoid ok. people on the street didn't go that far yes ok yes the green line but on the flip side the group i have like what we have people hear the word hearty jennifer churchill lives on the yellow and green line this middle america ok ok i agree but her look at her i dress like her i would be nice anyways. in her defense this city has gone to address it gentrification situation so some of those neighborhoods used to be black they're not as black and not as dangerous i'm not going to thin tea party but. we are not defending the weak of them over there yes there are some metro stops in the green line when i walk in the night and i do think it's funny that a blanket statement no green light no yellow light you know they should have already you live where do you live first i live you in a safe zone according to the t.v.
11:54 pm
. i don't think i have a lot of people around me but i also have shootings around me so i'm not sure i know before we just stay with y. and you'll be all right doesn't apply. but but on the flip side i feel like it to really take it even farther you know when. it decided to go across america and they were afraid of indians they made american they had so i could you we're with right there in the a i think large just like a team of black people just sorry. that way you know that they're black frame a black friend and they just have to go everywhere in the city they explore all of the seating the bin chili bowl i don't see that idea right you know glenn beck we're really going to make the tea party look good like oh oh i mean this is something else that i kind of funny as he was telling the man that wrote this manual sensually was telling them where all the good wife i spots were to get for free internet but he mentioned that you can get us both at starbucks and caribou coffee but i also wrote
11:55 pm
a little note that caribou just you know censors adult websites so starbucks is better i don't come here to watch porn are they coming for a political march and rally oh man. i wondering like i bet you he did. right but in this league too i bet you like some executive in the tea party was like we need to make a point we need to actually there's no i've been blocked all right maybe maybe it's not bored maybe it's guns maybe i'm trying to build bombs maybe it's maybe a parable is like we don't have guns are porn for certain people right. so many things like you say on air right now everybody. ok i would like to shoot dozens but here is that there's you know there's the neighboring all sorts of restaurants you can eat out that are good and then there's just a list that says bad and it has a following things underneath nancy pelosi pelosi is condo harry reid's condo the ritz carlton and k. street those are all bad and you have the same time i think those are all in the
11:56 pm
safe zone i'm confused i'm confused about what nancy pelosi and if you're going to get it you've got to do it in the right a street i'm not sure why i think it's only the evil lobbyists are don't you know they have the prostitutes on k. street so tell me that your big want you to stick it in already is jealous that they don't have enough lobbyists i mean i think they should storm k. street and say you know give us a voice they probably should remember that i don't know bill have an objective what is your objective they did ok so they want to masturbate they want to come all the way here masturbate avoid. go to prostitutes what does it do ok protest gridlock tea party all right democrat do i know what i do wonder you know why they want to come to washington to washington d.c. in the first place obviously you know glenn beck is bringing them here but i mean these are people that i thought hated this place you know for all of its leaders him and yet the only places they're going to go in washington is the little tiny box that is you know is white and safe and has the most wealth and shows exactly
11:57 pm
how much money our government spends on building nice buildings and monuments and looking good yeah they want to go to the mall they want to go to the white house. yet you as a defense we actually never tell anybody about the other cool things and we you know what i think we should really what do you what advice do you have for the tea party where should they go go to you street all right yes there are black people there but they're fun they're safe i mean yes there's homeless people the homeless people everywhere all right joe but that's just the city ok and cities are dangerous all right if you want to fight if you want to change america go actually no i have nothing personally to say. i like history too i like these three tales ok the last thing i want to bring up is that i thought it was kind of funny because the guy mentions the fact that there are many refugees here from many african countries that these immigrants do not like to be called african-american have you ever run into this problem called you know someone from ethiopia an african-american and had them or something yeah that's you know i really want to you saw video africans don't want to be black they see black people of hip hop and
11:58 pm
they see they see the videos and they see us getting arrested on t.v. no no no no i you know hardison we did an african girl will not let us date try to be somali like no don't you touch i was it's easy for me to see them you know why it's easy for me to stay in that area and like gaining like there that's why i can get a taxi cab driver. how much the tea partiers do enjoy d.c. time for today now it's election day in several straight states including arizona where senator john mccain is facing a primary challenger but never fear because tea party darling sarah palin has endorsed him so we want to know what sarah tweets aisy voters are real like the maverick away here a few days maverick whatever just vote for the old dude i have another twitter today for you tomorrow that's it for tonight's show thanks for tuning in to make sure to come back tomorrow night but in the meantime don't forget to become a fan of the latest on facebook and follow us on twitter and if you missed any of tonight's or any other nights you can always catch it all the you tube dot com slash the on the show where we post the interviews as well as the show in its
