you know has cut stimulus spending too early he looked at austerity measures you know and acted in plans here in the u.s. and said that those are the right policies but just at the wrong time so i mean could he have some influence you know over all the politicians republicans that are saying that stimulus spending is too much and we need to cut down. well he created this huge organization called i net which is essentially a group of economists there that are pushing you know in different directions themselves for things but hopefully he can because the reality is if we look at greece and ireland where they've made these austerity cuts or been forced to by germany life has gotten pretty bad for people there in fact it's worse in some cases than it is in the u.s. so if those sort of austerity measures are coming home to the united states then you know soros better start whispering into the right ears to get something changed in the white house before they do now one thing that's interesting too is that we all know gold has been on the rise lately and george soros mentioned that he thinks there are a number of bubbles out there but he said gold really is the scariest you know even
11:31 pm
though so many people have been throwing their money into it so should people listen to they should they run and give up on gold. well a lot of people who are in gold right now could take tremendous profits if they have it you know it's been rising for ten years now and gold tends to rise with fear and worry so if the globe is still concerned about you know recession in the u.s. and europe or a lack of growth they're still relying on the emerging markets for growth and it might not be the right time to get out of that bubble just yet you might want to write a little bit higher and then sell so george soros might be right to call it a bubble but he might be wrong to tell you what time to get out of it. ok so maybe they can hold on just a little while longer and you know one other thing that we were talking about with this increasing poverty rates is that these are signs that the middle class in america is is shrinking that the income gap is growing at an exponential rate so you know what in america look like without a strong middle class that's what makes this country what it is. right it's going
11:32 pm
to look terrible i mean essentially what's happening right now is top top divisions of the economy like financial services law that service financial services and tech are rising and a lot of the rest of people are getting left behind and they've been getting left behind for ten twenty thirty years so that middle class that's been had been growing for thirty forty years and then suddenly is hit with thirty years of cuts is disappearing and that means all those people who used to pay a steady stream are going away and it also means that those people aren't getting the chances by education to move up in the economy because i got it i got to cut you off because that's all the time to rob but thank you so much for taking a break.
11:33 pm
and straight from moscow to you this is our team broadcasting seven thirty one with the trad once now one of russia's most wanted terror suspects has been released after a polish horse turned down the prosecutor's request for his forty day detention however ahmed is a private is still pending a court hearing on whether he could be handed over to russian authorities. afghanistan's president hamid karzai has urged his citizens to vote in saturday's parliamentary election and ignore threats from the taliban at least twenty four people have been killed and eighteen abducted in election related attacks across the country. a suspected russian mafia boss is being treated in a moscow hospital after an attempt on his life nicknamed grandpas son he is thought to have fallen victim to a gangland turf war. now my colleague will be back in about thirty minutes with a full look at your news but right now it's back to the alyona show with a recent government report showing a nine percent rise in the number of u.s.
11:34 pm
drug takers alyona looks at whether the war on narcotics is a war worth fighting. today's tool time goes to a district attorney out of wisconsin who just can't seem to keep his work and personal life separate kalama county's da kratz has fallen under fire recently for trying to seduce a woman involved in one of his court cases cracked was attempting to spark an affair with the victim of one of the domestic abuse cases that he was working on what an ex-boyfriend tried to choke twenty six year old stephanie van girl now as the case was under way girl says that she was getting up to thirty eight text messages saying things like are you the kind of girl who likes secret contact with an older married elected da or i would not expect you to be the other woman i would want you to be so hot and treat me so well that you would be the woman pretty
11:35 pm
disgusting right this is the same guy who is prosecuting her abusive ex boyfriend and he's pulling the exact same slimy antics. now the female says that she only responded to the messages because she felt pressure and worried that if she didn't answer he was going to drop the charges against the ex word got out crass did not deny sending the text messages but asked if it be kept under wraps for his punishment many people requesting the krauts resign but other than a public outcry there really hasn't been a punishment just a little slap on the wrist and he's back to the courtroom now i don't know what upsets me the most about this case the fact that a quote reputable d.a.'s behaving so poorly or the fact that he's getting away with it he's not getting away with his scummy behavior on this show so that's why district attorney kenneth kratz you are tonight's tool time winner. now a new study shows that more people in america are getting high that's right a government report shows that there's
11:36 pm
a nine percent increase in drug use and it's at the highest level in nearly a decade now the report explains that the drugs of choice are most. marijuana about them fed a means and ecstasy now could it be because everyone's you know so depressed and gloomy about the economy unemployment poverty that you know just they feel like they have to get high that's just a thought but back to the issue at hand there's a few things about this data the really sticks out to me gerlach gil kerlikowske of the national drug control policy is obviously not happy with the results of this study he says that it's proof that there are eroding attitudes about the harm caused by illegal substances by eroding attitudes he means more acceptance of marijuana then yes several states already approve of them as medicinal use of marijuana as it is and california is voting on full legalization this fall so i guess the other obvious question here is if it is gaining acceptance how will the government respond when they make the best of it legalize and impose
11:37 pm
a tax or are they going to wage an even larger war against it now it's been said before and i'll say it again the war on drugs is a mess it's decades long has wasted billions of dollars and most law enforcement officials will agree that it is a failure so let's start fixing this problem right now let's focus on rehabilitation rather than criminalization because clearly despite the fact that we have the largest incarceration system in the world people are still doing drugs. now on that note thanks to a new bill michigan could become the first state in the nation to drug test drivers roadside republican representative rig jones has announced a bill that would allow police officers to administer roadside drug tests if they have probable cause and they can do all of that thanks to a nifty new portable kit that can detect six kinds of drugs including marijuana methamphetamines cocaine you see currently officers who want to test drivers for
11:38 pm
drugs have to get a search warrant so they can take a blood sample which is then tested by state crime. labs but jones just sees that as a very expensive and time consuming process so how do we see this is this a progressive step to take dangerous drivers off the road or is this a way to give cops more power to target medical marijuana users and put more people in jail for joining me from south carolina to discuss that as adam koch ash host of the radio show adam vs the man thanks so much for joining me now you know i get it states right now are trying to save money we are in a recession you know everyone is strapped for cash but you bring in these portable test kits that have a very high rate of false positives as a way to save money and that's just a little troubling to me is that you. very and i'm quite surprised to see this from a republican representative doing something so drastic to further the nanny state in something so one base of us to start regulating our personal body chemistry i
11:39 pm
haven't been this embarrassed to be a republican since we nominated john mccain to be president but i have to point out in your last story there you neglected to mention that one of the most popular drugs in america is alcohol and i would bet that alcohol consumption is up along with other drugs given the attitude of the country right now and look at the way that we regulate that especially in terms with public safety and driver safety and things like band with drunk driving especially where i live in new mexico it's a disaster and we have roadside test for alcohol and you know we still have a huge drunk driving problem because that's not the issue drunk driving in a no that cell should not be illegal but driving impaired being a threat to public safety that needs to be the issue if you believe in personal individual liberty if you believe in property rights if you believe in the sanctity of your own body then all of this invasiveness is wrong there is
11:40 pm
a role for government to play in public safety but it's failing miserably with the current approach in regards to our most popular drug in this country and that is all let me ask you about that adam because you said that drunk driving shouldn't be illegal driving impaired is but you know what i mean how do you decide which is which when you're when you're drunk enough to where you still can drive in your mind or when you're actually putting yourself and others in danger. and those are you suggest that those are mutually exclusive driving drunk or driving impaired i'm not saying that your driving drunk necessarily means that you're not impaired but that the thing that is so forgotten in the conversation today about drugs and alcohol or other drugs including caffeine and nicotine is that they affect everybody differently the prescription drugs make it very clear in. studies done with medicine that everybody's body chemistry reacts to different substances differently and we have to be the own judges of or sobriety and our ability to
11:41 pm
operate a car safely and that when we fail and that the decision to whether on whether or not we are driving impaired should be done objective leave the the roadside test for coordination hand eye coordination walk in a straight line are very scientific or very codified in such a way that they can in of themselves lead to a charge of reckless endangerment which is i think the best way to handle this but they could be as opposed to same let's be more invasive let's violate your rights some more let's get into you let's give the government the right to determine whether your body chemistry is acceptable or not that is fundamentally morally wrong and in terms of the way that we regulate alcohol or attempt to regulate alcohol and drunk driving for public safety is a clear failure and for some people they can drink ten beers and because they do that every day they're not impaired to drive i'm not making the argument for that but that they should be that wants to decide that not just some cop with
11:42 pm
a breathalyzer at a random drug star at a random well here in new mexico you know we have checkpoints for dui it doesn't work it doesn't stop the problem we still have people getting killed every day on the street because we don't encourage that responsibility prescription drugs have the same problem and people have to take responsibility and say if i'm impaired i'm not going to drive but we don't will people responsible for that we impose arbitrary standards based on subjective things where police officers are able to generate revenue for the government by creating laws that really aren't in our best interest or have anything to do with public safety well i think what you're getting adam is a now unfortunately i don't think you can trust people to always be irresponsible and to make the right decision but at the weapon the there is reaction the homey finish or the knee jerk reaction has become here though is to instantly lock people up like we said. even in this case now they don't even want to have a warrant anymore if the police officer decides that you might be on drugs and he's going to test you to see if you can take it in jail and that's what the problem is
11:43 pm
with with our drug war you know that we're waging in this country that's been going on for decades billions of dollars wasted is that it's all about criminalization and putting people in jail rather than figuring out how to actually solve the problem how to get people to not be addicted to drugs to not be alcoholics and get behind the wheel how do you think that you know that could be fixed in this country well the government can certainly serve a role in public safety to hold people responsible but it's not to hold them responsible for their body chemistry if so hold them responsible for driving impaired whether it's from being tired or from being distracted or from drugs or from prescriptions drugs or from alcohol or for from anything else and the fact is our government has no interest in holding us responsible it has more of an interest in generating revenue and maintaining its own power and one of the ways it does it is by using propaganda to convince us that we need this kind of nanny state that we need to have the government dictate what we can and cannot put in our own bodies
11:44 pm
and inevitably it fails and people are starting to starting to see through this and i hope that representative jones in michigan realizes that this is not a conservative position this is a liberal big government nanny state thing like i said i haven't been this embarrassed to be a republican since we nominated john mccain to be president to see someone so abandoning conservative values and really trashing personal rights and privacy rights under this false banner of public safety is embarrassing i'm ashamed why and i really am jealous has a personal thing there because apparently he's a huge you know he's very much opposed to the fact that michigan now has passed a law allowing the medical it is no use of marijuana and he is none too happy about that but you know education i think definitely needs to be a more important factor in the society rather than just locking people up and thanks so much for joining me thank you and thank you for taking on. the suckers. are we have just one more segment left in today's show first i'll revisit the case of anwar i'll lock in my fireside chat and the air force showing inspiration from
11:45 pm
one of hollywood's favorite superheroes will bring you details on the new equipment for the special ops forces in just a minute then a new study shows the all assured him up games are actually beneficial to your reflexes so guys you don't want to miss this one and controversy continues to swirl around the latina reporter who was reportedly harassed in the new york jets locker room some say she was asking for it by wearing a provocative outfit and branches in front of a bunch of football players i say notes on a chat with churchill about it after the break. hungry for the full story we've got. the biggest issues get a human voice face to face with the news makers. would

knowledge you know on r.g.p. . the never ending fight to keep the equipment of us troops updated the air force has to appeal to every boy's desire to be a super hero air force engineers are working hard to develop special technology to help the special ops forces who have very heavy very outdated equipment so they've come up with a battlefield error targeting mandated knowledge a batman the idea here is to draw from the comic book hero and design weapons and armor that might be used by bruce wayne himself so as this batman project is being created it's only fitting that it has its own really cool logo in a bad ass model like light or smart or deadly or now you might wonder what exactly this new superhero make over is going to entail let me give you a few details there is no batsuit unfortunately but the soldiers will be wearing a human chases that will hold several technological components pretty easy to use
11:48 pm
and the new program will also come with special goggles that are comfortable for use during the day but can double as night vision goggles once you get dark pretty bad like and as if the suit was an awesome enough there's also plenty of cool toys in the works only one of the engineers released so far is the bat hook i mean sorry grappling hook that you can suspend from power lines and drop electricity to refuel your battery operated body suit now word has it that this is nearly finished and believe it or not they're already working on a version two point zero i get that we want our troops to be agile but trying to make our soldiers into batman makes me wonder if these engineers might have read one too many comic books back in the day it's a wonder they ever got out of their mom's basements but all jokes aside this stuff is actually pretty cool i'm just waiting for them to debut the official air force.
11:49 pm
for gamers and bad news for the girlfriends of the world over you know all that time spent on your x. box or your p s three playing the shoot em up games well it turns out that those could be good for your health. but. apparently when you play first person shooter games you're automatically improving your abilities to translate sensory information quickly and the fancy term for the one good thing about spending hours and hours and hours playing games is probabilistic inference skills to ladies whenever your man is playing modern warfare two medal of honor or maybe the new halo game he's actually doing himself a favor now he'll have super fast sensory detection skills but apparently this does
11:50 pm
not apply to the old school games the slower paced ones like tetris or super mario brothers my personal favorites don't engage the mind and force split second decisions the way the shooting games do which i think is really unfortunate because who doesn't love tetris but i guess in the long run we could look at this as good news maybe all those guys ages seventeen to thirty five are aware of the benefits already or else why would they get so addicted right and it's time where these things rake in more record sales of box office success is like avatar it's pretty clear that americans love their video games and now they're actually getting something out of it rather than just becoming fat lazy and socially awkward. maybe the fat lazy and socially awkward this isn't going anywhere but guys this at least gives you one free pass to skip out on a social engagement because probabilistic inference skills sounds super important. now one of the hottest stories out there right now has to deal with mexican
11:51 pm
television reporter science now the latin bombshell was covering an n.f.l. game and when she went into the jets locker room to get an interview with quarterback mark sanchez the players reportedly whistled catcall that her and even threw a football across the locker room now he said that it made her feel quote very uncomfortable in the she didn't like it rather than causing a fuss she simply said that she believes the n.f.l. is going to respond to the incident accordingly but commentators bloggers they all decided that this is a huge deal and the disturbing thing about it is they're not worried about the fact that adult professional athletes are harassing another professional quite the opposite everyone from rush limbaugh to former n.f.l. player tony bruno have said that she was asking for it because she's an attractive woman who was wearing a pair of tight jeans she deserved to be treated that way now statements i feel are so wrong like that in so many ways but i decided to chat with churchill about it so
11:52 pm
joining me to discuss these are two producer jenny churchill jenny thanks so much for being here this story makes me mad because i feel like there's just a double standard you know i mean guys what is one of the things they love to watch on t.v. they like to watch sports and they like to watch hot chicks then report on those sports but then if something actually happens they blame the chick for it yeah well you know i really disagree with you there i think the double standard actually goes the other way if you know professionalism goes both ways if you want professionalism from the football players then you be professional yourself but what do you mean by that i mean are you saying that she wasn't being professional yeah i mean i don't think we have the first the first image just fine there to be if you have got image actually and i guess we don't have this one that's that's out of fields a game that's that would be on my box right there so use that word so she's a very voluptuous young woman and i'm sure that people. i like to look at her does not mean that she should be harassed and catcalled and whistle that well i mean i
11:53 pm
think that you know if you're going to go and put yourself out there the way that this particular woman has done i just don't know how far you can go in saying that those things are inappropriate she has gone to great lengths to make herself a sexual object on her professional profile for the studio she's got scantily clad bikini photos and she does call herself the hottest reporter and mexico so i just pretty hot to me i mean it's one thing if you understand like she's a sexy woman and i think there's nothing wrong with showing off that you're sexy but when people say that you know because you look good then you deserve harassment i just feel like that's so wrong because then i think it's irresponsible because it happens in that falls into the those arguments like oh well this woman was raped because she must have been asking for it really takes you down a very dangerous path and this is you know this is just so different we're talking about and awful lot of room different because you know as far as i know she wasn't
11:54 pm
raped in the locker room and as far as i know no one said wow you look so hot i want to rape her i'm sorry i didn't take you down this is going to have i think you know and this is my thing why don't for harassment you're acting i'm not saying right now it is not a big deal i'm not saying she's asking for harassment what i'm saying is that there's you know she's calling for a level of professionalism from the people in the locker room and i don't think that she's giving back the same level as i'm not to mention i don't think that women should be in the locker room in the first place or men reporters i don't think that any reporters need to be in the locker room you're talking about a room where you've got lots of football players who are jacked up on terror also get a job there and they don't feel as if the reporters do not need to be in there in the first place and that's about a long hard thing and we know that you know if that's the case and they should change the policy but in fact there are many things all reporters in the sports industry there are many reporters that go into the locker rooms to do the interviews it's not their fault. i mean if you need to change the policy then go
11:55 pm
ahead but this is never been an issue up until this date that's not true but on another point i mean you say it's a slippery slope and that you know if you say that she was scantily clad so cat calls are inappropriate you know that calls aren't that crazy that you know you say someone was asking for rape depending on how they were dressed you know i would say that but that's our you know is that what he. was i wore obviously would never say that a woman deserves rape however don't dress like a hooker walk down the street and be surprised when you're mistaken for a hooker decides what a hooker looks like i mean it is true it's true it's so wrong and so you know inconsiderate to just say well you look like a horse and you should be treated like a whore what does that even mean that's so subject i didn't say you deserved to be treated like a whore i said don't be surprised if you're mistaken for a war big difference but you know what we're really talking about here is a woman that loves to be the story and start of covering the story and in my opinion that's exactly what happened here you know she was actually we had to be
11:56 pm
honest she was very graceful about this didn't make a big deal if everyone else didn't want to do or as a tape does not have all the morning shows didn't. while she's hot let her go for it coming up next we have our fireside friday. to tonight's fireside fridays be fewer. this friday i'd like to return to a story that we brought you earlier in the week it's the case of u.s. and yemeni citizen anwar lucky a muslim cleric the u.s. government says is radical and was accused of playing a leading role for al qaeda and yemen through propaganda and the alleged plot of terrorist attacks a man who is now placed on an assassination list deafened government doesn't want to reveal any evidence as to why they've all. he decided without a court or
11:57 pm
a judge that he deserves to die now a lot of his father along with the a.c.l.u. and the center for constitutional rights of decided to challenge the government in the form of a lawsuit something you think would put the government in a sticky situation would make them have to adhere to the law but it turns out according to the new york times that they're very quickly finding a way out and that one of the options on the table is using their bone of it state secrets doctrine something that lets them say it is because we say so something that obama used to criticize the bush administration for while he was on the campaign trail something he promised would stop with the new transparent government to about obama's already use a state secret structure in a number of times including just last week in the case of former cia prisoners who contended that they have been flown to other countries for interrogation and then torture something that they like to use to cover up their injustices and make sure that no questions can be asked in the words of david rivkin
11:58 pm
a lawyer from the bush white house he described this as someone coming up to you saying the government wants to target you and you can even talk about of the courts or try to stop it is not just swell but in today's world the president of the united states can issue a death sentence on his own without having to state the reasons or the evidence as to why you call this america the land of justice for all for well we should not let this happen on our watch in the obama administration but i think a long and hard about the kind of legacy that they're leaving behind before they set a dangerous precedent or death sentences will be handed out like candy to anyone that they see fit. well that's it for tonight's show thanks for tuning in and make sure that you come back on monday in the meantime don't forget to become a fan of the low. michelle on facebook and follow us on twitter and if you missed
11:59 pm
