you know everyone else likes to pretend like they're serious about cutting spending i can show you serious i say that we get rid of the whole of the safety net medicare gone social security gone and i think that you and i both know where the real spending happens with our seniors so i say we euthanize the old we'll leave our children with the burden of debt and you know lastly if there's one thing that our founding fathers really got right it's that whole thing about our liberties our freedoms our rights and above all the right to bear arms. but those up in washington they say that just because i have a drinking problem or just because i'm a convicted murderer that i no longer have those rights that's neither here nor there so grab your guns take your money get rid of your old and let's take on washington to keep. going in cost.
11:31 pm
so there you have it that's our latest batch of campaign ads be sure to send us some feedback on them their facebook you tube or twitter let us know what to think coming up next today's told time award goes to a corporation who thinks that they can walk a very fine line between family friendly programming and being a bad ass were to have more on that in a minute and we'll continue to look at the nature of military recruiting here in the u.s. we already told you about the way recruiters glamorize the idea of being a soldier but what happens if that doesn't work when we come back we'll speak to a counter recording organizer to get the word out on the military's deceptive methods.

and again this is all see the headlines. the way to the pension bill the french sun this passes a bitterly contested law to raise the retirement age from sixty to sixty two days of nationwide strikes including bloke a boy recliner reason which led to fuel shortages across the country the final vote by lawmakers and president sarkozy's radical plan is next week but he didn't say it's not topple citizens' rights. russia and the yuan should we have got to start as the world's greatest not cortex not as but there's no consent between the two on title to the home but ted wells is demanding more attention from nato in combating trafficking as russia is the number one victim of the uncontrolled. turns in the russian republic of coverage about korea police have come should two militants

among at least ten who've been surrounded in the vicinity disease might at least one please no one gunmen have already died in the operation targeting the hideout while it looks blows that was recovered in about. the second part of the coming your way right now. we've got. the biggest issues getting voice face to face with the news maker. so he's told time award goes to a production company that's apparently lacking any common sense you know disney they're famous for their box office hits and pirates of the caribbean it's definitely one of that character captain jack sparrow is based on the antics of a legendary rocker keith richards and for this latest installment of the movies disney decided to call on richard's himself to play the role of captain jack sparrow now the movie's already been filmed that's now in the editing process but all of a sudden this nice feeling
11:34 pm
a little screwed thanks to the fact the research just released a tell all memoir his book is called life and it gives elaborate details about the rolling stones sex and of course drugs at one point in the book he even tells people how he used hard drugs in moderation so that's how he managed never to overdose after decades of experimentation now as you can imagine the wholesome image of disney i could easily be shattered by a raw look at one of the hardest rockers in history who's basically saying hey you guys use the wisely drugs are fine i just can't help but wonder what did disney think would happen if they teamed up with keith richards and they really think that they could hire the most famous drug addict in the world for a kid's movie and let it be as if they were going to get some flack for it i mean i could've seen this coming from a mile away his book cover there's a reason enough to scare parents out of taking the news pirates so i'm going to assume the deceived thought it could dabble in that gray area of innocent
11:35 pm
entertainment mixed with rock stars who don't even know what it means and look now it's back fire disney might have to remove hours of footage from the next big box office hit opes damn heroin how to guide so for that disney for your naivete your ignorance or stupidity there just so many ways you could paint it for that you are tonight's tool time. the state of arizona plans to put a prisoner to death by lethal injection on october twenty six fifty year old jeffrey landrigan was convicted of murder back in one nine hundred eighty nine and the state has denied his second request to block the execution now landrigan lawyers claim that there is still d.n.a. evidence that needs to be processed but now not only is the state of arizona still planning on executing him they're also planning on doing it was sodium thiopental which is not f.d.a. approved see as of now thirty five states use lethal injection as their primary method of capital punishment but there's been a massive shortage of the drug because of complications from the raw material
11:36 pm
suppliers and speculations that it was purposeful because the u.s. company who's always supplied it said that they didn't like their drug being used to kill you see the drug for all states favoring the death penalty comes from just one single supplier. so arizona's taken it upon themselves to buy a replacement with out the f.d.a. for approval and they want even say where they got it from i'm going to go ahead and call that sketchy you want to kill this guy so badly that you're just going to go through illegal routes to get the drug now clearly this opens up the case to appeals and legan's attorneys already fear that this mystery drug could be considered cruel and unusual punishment but what does this really say about the death penalty in america you know here we have a man who's waiting to die meanwhile the state won't wait for more d.n.a. tests to ensure that he's the right person and they're going to use a questionable substance to end his life sounds like arizona isn't too worried about lanterns life since they're willing to obtain sodium thiopental that hasn't
11:37 pm
been approved by the government i just can't help but wonder if the state is trying to save money here hurry up and execute the convict forget about a possible life in prison and just call it a day to arizona once again you disappoint me. now today we'll continue our look at the methods of the u.s. military uses to recruit soldiers you know we first told you about how recruiters glamorised the idea of serving your country and laid out lavish benefits what if that didn't work what if recruits are so desperate for new people that they'll go into your child's school and convince them to enlist are to correspond to the softy as part two of the story. goodbye you kind of get this false sense that nothing's really going on but then in the background things are ramping up the army has a purpose there indoctrinating these guys and training them to do stuff but you
11:38 pm
know i don't know that we ever really broad something's going to happen well that was one of our arguments with him before he left a said you know jason you know they prepare them for dying i said i get that i said but if you ever think about coming back without an arm or a leg his arm we don't think about things like that but after jason was recruited in high school and critically injured in iraq he and his family think about it every day because it directly affects them. while others are concerned because it appalls them the military is participating in a very sophisticated psychological program and people need to be aware that this is going on you know today we have a recruiting force the army likes to say it's a volunteer force but in fact it's a recruited force and that's when we get to thinking about decisions i'm not a mean guy so i wouldn't do that to embody was a choice you have
11:39 pm
a choice oh yeah i had a choice but my bergen the recruiter started a porsche you can my school came everywhere is one stop until i joined pretty much. so noxious and it was this kind of noxious behavior that led counter recruitment activists pad elgar to try to change the status quo because of direct recruitment fails the military has other methods that many people don't even know about the it is the armed services vocational aptitude battery and it is given in. about twelve thousand high schools across the country and even the safest institutions for young teenagers their schools have become a major avenue for recruitment as well parents don't realize that their children are being sent to schools and the schools are acquiescing in allowing the pentagon to actively recruit children sometimes as as as young as fifteen in maryland we
11:40 pm
were very fortunate to get a law passed that basically prohibits the automatic release of these test results to the pentagon and students are being targeted now more than ever as u.s. forces are already stretched thin overseas and just last year the pentagon funded study found that seventy five percent of american youth were unfit to serve up for health reasons alone making it all the more difficult for the military to meet its quota it actually amazes me that. that there isn't more of an uproar than there actually is because we're talking about thirteen year old kids right now it borders on if it isn't actually indoctrination. of our youth into this very violent culture but folks are starting to be outraged and turning that outreach into actual. salaries for all at the school where her son was recruited went from teacher to
11:41 pm
activist she's worked for years now in trying to raise awareness about recruiting methods in public high schools she told me that she wants to be the last mother to see her. son return home in a box. but the questions remain is it enough i just look at that and i got the impression that you know jason stank and i'm invincible i was bulletproof and they're really not you know they're everybody's very fragile or is it too late what would you tell someone who's kind of on the fence about joining the army don't want to go it was hell for me after i got injured there's be careful in the choices you make and when choices become a game of persuasion valerie pam and mike are left to wonder would their children ever have made that decision on their own he did this for a noble cause as you know but i'm thinking in the back of my head jason never
11:42 pm
listen anyway typical kid they never listen to mom and dad sorry about that yeah for our t.v. dinner go soft ski. it's clear that there are families that want to get their stories out there want to warn others about the tactics of military recruiters before it becomes too late and they're affected personally but with even federal laws and schools keeping this story below the radar how to get the word out or earlier i caught up with pat elder a d.c. based counter recruiting organizer and i first asked him who it is the military recruiters target i know that at my high school they were in a common sight but if you go to lower income areas in certain regions of america their ranks are large so who is it that they target. well it's purely demographics i think it has more to do with with income levels median family income levels stand it does race and in the state of maryland i know that military
11:43 pm
recruiters are active in most maryland public schools and so i've been able to track in maryland schools and i can see pretty clearly that that the schools in areas that are economically disadvantaged have a greater prevalence of both recruiters in the schools and numbers of enlistees. to maryland where the median family income is about one hundred sixty thousand a year and so the recruiters don't go there and they don't go there because the parents don't want them going there because they've spoken out because they know these people are going to sign out their kids are going to they're going to cornell they're going to the university of virginia who was going to the army they are you know. it's like the old bob dylan song join the army if you fail and if you're at whitman high school in bethesda maryland the only reason you join the army is if you fail now tell me about this test the asset is that in all schools across the country you know regardless of socioeconomics now it's in about half think there
11:44 pm
are about eleven thousand nine hundred schools in america that administer or i should say where the as bad as administered by the. military the military actually comes into the schools and gives the test so this is a test that then goes directly to the pentagon without the parents' consent in ninety two percent of the cases six hundred fifty thousand kids ninety two percent of the cases according to data by the pentagon released two years ago that is correct mom and dad don't know what's going on the military marches into the school says johnny shut up sit down and over a thousand schools it's mandatory the kids have to take the test and the results including social security numbers are shipped through the pentagon and in maryland . we have a law that says you can't compel a minor to relinquish his social security number without parental consent and the military was doing just that because there was mandatory as about testing in maryland as well and it seems crazy to me if there isn't more outrage about this
11:45 pm
you know yourself you are and anti recording activists essentially but how many are there as you got there you never hear about people like well there are a lot of us i think you'd be surprised we work with nomi which is the national network opposing the militarization of you. know me dot org. and we have over two hundred groups now in almost every state that is working to counter military recruitment but it. has a mainstream media that just doesn't seem willing to. to report the story it is an outrageous story and that has a lot to do with why i'm on our team well do you feel like you're making any headway i mean for example do you think that when barack obama came in perhaps he might change some of the kerning you know strategies or the tactics they're not so predatory and then of course now we have this no child left behind act that he's rewriting set for one one right well the bush administration in two thousand and
11:46 pm
two inserted a provision section ninety five twenty eight of the no child left behind act and that provision basically says that the military can march. to the schools and are given equal access to high school students equal access to college recruiters the law also says that military recruiters if they request can receive the names addresses and phone numbers of all the kids in high school and the obama administration as you said is doing a rewrite of the entire law the no child left behind act but leaving that intact now just tell me this one because you know it's understandable that some of these practices of the military recruiters they seem a little disturbing because they're so aggressive but we do have a voluntary force and people aren't signing up in droves so how do you get people to sign up for the military to fight america's wars abroad without being aggressive will you use the real buzz word there really is not a volunteer force it is
11:47 pm
a coerced force and at the top of the show we talked about how demographics play a huge part and that people in my high school don't join the military and the recruiters don't even go to the high school so it certainly isn't a volunteer force if demographics play a huge part. i think that we have a real problem because the department of defense is using very deceptive practices and as an activist i can tell you that if i rail against practices by the treasury department or the e.p.a. or the transportation it's one thing but if you rail against practices by the department of defense the new york categorized as being merit can and i can tell you that i am a patriot. well you sound like a patriot to me and i think this is definitely something that it a more people need to know about especially parents who probably aren't even aware that their kids are taking these tests or that they could be targeted by recruiters every day on their to go you know right now there are kids who are squeezing off
11:48 pm
rounds in the j. route to program their kids that are taking marksmanship programs that are affiliated with the civilian marksmanship program and the national rifle association and there are kids whose names addresses and phone numbers are being shipped to the military their kids are being forced to take a military test in public schools and mom and dad don't know about it stephanie disturbing thanks so much well thank you. well coming up after the break we have our fireside friday so don't miss it and the slots guys are in the studio to take on the week's funniest and most bizarre political stories let's just say that christine o'donnell thinks she'll have a new b.s.f. if she gets elected.
11:50 pm
today. these are the images. of canada. today. to tonight's fireside fridays with your host. this friday i'd like to reflect on a story that i just find so completely ludicrous well i can't even believe it's real you know you see the state of florida and florida state legislator william snyder specifically they proposed
11:51 pm
a new immigration law modeled after arizona's you know the arizona law that makes you carry your papers with you at all times to prove that you're in the country legally now with arizona's law however the language was broad enough the you can only speculate you can only say that it opens the door to racial profiling but it doesn't specifically write it out well florida's take it up ten notches and normally exempted white people from their law that's right on page three of the proposed legislation it says that even if an officer has reasonable suspicions over a person's immigration status while the person will be presumed to be in the u.s. illegally if you're she provides a canadian passport or a passport from any visa waiver country now let me break this down for you which countries are visa waiver countries well aside from four asian nations the rest are all in western europe all predominately white countries you know the real figure is
11:52 pm
to the laws backwards they claim of this provision exists so the state remain friendly to tourists. so are you going to saying that the only people with any money come from canada and asian and western european nations only from white countries i mean it just gets more ridiculous by the second but i've got a little bit of information for those that are of this law you see fifty two percent of tourists to miami are people in south america that doesn't even include central america or the caribbean. so there is no possible way that these people can claim that this immigration law isn't races this is the most blatant form of legislative bigotry that we've seen in a long time and for some reason it's not really getting half as much attention as arizona's law yet we need to talk about this or this country is going to start going down a very slippery and a very dangerous path. friday
11:53 pm
so it's not about a little bit of fun george w. bush his memoirs are due out soon so he released a trailer i think somebody forgot to tell in the books and movies aren't the same thing and one candidate is placing revolution on the table and christine o'donnell well she's got some pretty high aspirations when it comes to u.s. foreign policy maybe somebody should remind her the voodoo isn't going to help so joining me to discuss those stories and many more madam peter slutsky the co-founders of double speak media gentlemen thanks for coming back on the show i want to start tonight with christine o'donnell i mean i say i can't get enough to make you jump right out you saw my campaign out and stuff so she now thinks that if elected she's going to be on the senate foreign relations committee yes not easy is
11:54 pm
committee to get on but after that a and b. is she also just can't wait to chat up with hillary because she thinks that they have a lot in common. yet if if christine o'donnell is on the senate foreign relations committee god bless our country god bless me i don't want her talking to overseas leaders but i don't think going to happen and i don't wish to be elected and i don't think hillary clinton would even take a call if she was i mean i'm not you know you have a best friend yet you're not there yet. absolutely larry klayman home want to be with hillary clinton's not going to happen. i think she's kind of delusional and you know i would say she's delusional i mean you're spot on there i mean this woman this campaign has been the most fun to watch and it's one if even if the republicans have a wave election and sweep i don't think she's going to be swept into office because she's crazy and she proved it to us once again i want to move on now to another congressional hopeful this is a texas g.o.p.
11:55 pm
candidate his name stephen wrote and he's not a big fan of the government these days right i mean one of these aspiring politicians are fans of the government these days they're always doing something wrong but he was saying that you know if it comes to the down to it and we have to get rid of this government this violent overthrow is on the table let's take a listen. the option is on the table i don't think that we should ever remove anything from the table as it relates to our liberties and our freedoms. ok i get it when like barack obama the president of the united states says that all options are on the table with iran yes we love this guy who will what table who is on his table use in his army never take anything off the table first of all that they want to take it off the table where it looks so good on their outside the mainstream and then there's just crazy and this guy would be probably pure crazy but yet he's apparently had a lot of statements over his long career comparing the u.s. government to nazis and you just don't play that game but this is why texas made
11:56 pm
sure he was doing it and i mean it's actually working fertile people to grab their guns right in the second i mean are you well that's that's something that people need to think about because this tea party movement this independent whatever it is there is a real angry streak there and i'm actually concerned about if some of those people do get into office how they act how their supporters act and what when they come to washington with their guns that they but i don't think we i mean i think that the american people are the angry ones so much so that they just become blinded by the light of what they think. a third party with these crazy loony party candidates and these people might actually be lawmakers it it freaks me out to be there stoking the flames i know it's actually it's truly dangerous right now to be doing that and that's another reason why america should wake up a couple days here before the election and rethink the way to think well maybe the following story will make them rethink what's happening george w. bush oh yeah it isn't. about to release his memoirs which i'm sure someone else
11:57 pm
wrote for him watercolor you know here it's all in watercolors which is beautiful i mean that's the news we've released a trailer for it so let's take a look at a clip of this trailer. the book opens with a personal decision quitting drinking at age forty a decision i could not have made without face. i write a little bit about the experiences that forced my character growing up in west texas being the son of a president meaning. oh i have missed that people like you didn't get the memo that movies are the things that have trailers right exactly and it looks like a lot of his p.r. folks were either like on to new jobs or on vacation because him in front of a black screen with a look at me with a messed up hair just doesn't work it's not becoming of an espresso here is my stuff but that man he quit drinking so he says but i want to i want to see what i'm doing now you know he may have had a few shots so i don't really feel all right a lot of this in itself but everybody that every time i've seen him since he left.
11:58 pm
that morning to me answer is like i don't care i don't want to hear about your drinking problem i don't want to know what it was like to be this son of a president because oliver stone already made all of us feel bad for you and i was movie w one of the on here about iraq i want to hear about your big decisions one of the big things that was coming out today was that his biggest regret in office was not privatizing social security now at a time when we have you know economic turmoil and the markets are in flux like crazy that's his biggest regret that he didn't invest the social security net of the american people in the stock market come on iraq all these horrible decisions like i can't i mean it's just suppressing what he did say that he's going to come out and submerge and do the book tour get a little press and then re emerge and then he really i've never heard. or you know commentary i'm going to get her in jail and i'm going to. i want to bring up
11:59 pm
