11:30 pm
seven thirty am in moscow good to have you with us here on our team these are your headline the u.s. calls for the release of this year's nobel peace prize recipient by the critics say the pressure to are awarded a dissident is an example of double standards as washington tries to silence wiki leaks. donations are cut to the whistleblowers after the u.s. online payment service has pulled the plug but still leave the door open for extremist groups including the ku klux klan. u.k. launches a major probe into the student tuition fee riots that saw the country's worst on
11:31 pm
a rest for a decade. back now to be alone a show marking the anniversary of the un's declaration of human rights we ask if the u.s. has lived up to its responsibilities as a signatory of the tree stay with us. it's time for tonight's tool time award and we're giving it again to the half term governor of alaska sarah palin is all up in arms over the wiki leaks document release the hackers who are targeting web sites who cut off funding to ease sarah claims that her back web site was a target of operation payback but on yesterday's show we spoke with representative operation payback they said they could care less about hail it would say e-mail a.b.c. news to complain about the alleged hacking and in the e-mail she said quote this is what happens when you exercise the first amendment and speak against his sick un-american espionage efforts and now the him there would be julian assange then why yes or it is very un-american for julian assange to release those documents
11:32 pm
because i don't know how about the fact that julian is an american he's from australia i swear each time this woman tweets makes a facebook update we find out she's even stupider than we thought but here is the fun part sarah's complaining about free speech and first amendment rights but there's anything else out there notice how hypocritical that is palin's facebook page she has about two and a half million fans but time magazine has reported the paling has eight people working for her who scrubbed the site around the clock for anything that's threatening pornographic or unfit for children anything that questions barack obama's citizenship or the parentage of palin's toddler son trig or something the hands of the government could have been behind the attacks on nine eleven and fags even if you disagree politely with sarah but also usually gets her facebook post taken down so it's ok for sarah to trample on free speech but she cries foul when someone else stands up for it that's why tonight's tool time winner is the while
11:33 pm
still a wingnut sarah palin for being a fraud a hypocrite and also just plain dumb. well here's something that's going to make you feel really good the federal aviation administration says that they are missing key information on who owns one third of the private and commercial aircraft flying in the skies now a third might not really sound like a whole lot but when it's a surge of three hundred fifty seven thousand airplanes i think that makes it a whole different story the f.a.a. fears that the major gap in information could be exploited by terrorists and drug traffickers i told you this one of make you feel good now between missing forms other paperwork problems approximately one hundred and nineteen thousand aircraft have been labeled as in question and it's federal law for all aircraft owners whether it be corporate or personal plane to be registered with the f.a.a. and to carry registration with you at all times think like when you drive a car you always need your license and your registration so for hundreds of
11:34 pm
thousands of planes to be in question well that seems a little bit unnerving don't you think and now the f.a.a. to fix their big mistake has said that starting next year they're going to require all aircraft to reregister and attempts to update all information on all aircraft in the u.s. but that still leaves two i don't know a bigger question if they can't keep track of their planes shouldn't something be done about it to bring structural not just making the bureaucratic mess of making every single airplane reregister because the f.a.a. can't get its act together and talk with all of this report comes out just in time for the holidays where everybody and their grandmother are flocking to airports to go visit their loved ones makes you feel oh warm and fuzzy doesn't it. sixty two years ago today the united nations adopted its universal declaration of human rights making today an international human rights day now the united states is one of the countries who helped form this declaration but has the u.s.
11:35 pm
really held up to its own standard or are we in fact hypocrites of a. human rights record is very important i has the story. what speaks louder. actions or words we recognize the inherent dignity and rights of every individual a promise by the u.s. president and a requirement outlined in the universal declaration of human rights thirty articles outlining basic standards of life inalienable rights for all people. article three everyone has the right to life liberty and security of person with every drone attack every invasion and occupation of a foreign country with every overthrow of a foreign government that the united states happens not to like or happens not to agree with every one of those is a violation of that one article political commentator nima shirazi accuses the us
11:36 pm
of falling short of a filling several of the principles it helped create article five no one shall be subjected to torture or to pool inhumane or degrading treatment or punishment with every detainee kidnapped and rendition and. you know tortured in guantanamo or in or elsewhere. that's yet another violation here at home the land of liberty is also the land of the incarcerated with the world's largest prison population. two point three million people behind bars for more than three thousand languages on death row. article twenty five everyone has the right to a standard of living including food clothing housing and medical care at the dawn of a new millennium. we set concrete goals to for all fellow men women and children
11:37 pm
from the injustice of extreme poverty us figures indicate nearly forty four million americans are living in poverty even more people lack access to affordable health care and fifteen million are officially unemployed. meanwhile an estimated one million u.s. families are set to lose their homes this year alone as president made it clear that the united states will do our part last month the u.n. human rights commission made clear in two hundred and twenty eight recommendations ah how the u.s. can improve its human rights record i'll be eighty six congo bt is not just happening there one city one state is that you no longer american. society stars and stripes stained with accusations of police brutality racial profiling of minorities.
11:38 pm
and islamophobia. the country most vocal in chastising others for what it sees as human rights abuses is now taking heat for violating a declaration it co-wrote maybe american poet ralph waldo emerson put it best when saying what you do speaks so loudly i cannot hear what you say marina porter artsy new york. by now i'm sure the most of you have seen or at least heard of two m.t.v.'s biggest hit shows sixteen and pregnant and teen mom the first fall is the process of a number of teenagers who are expecting while the latter follows them through the trials and tribulations of actually being a parent while yourself are still a kid and m.t.v. describes their shows as thought provoking but some critics out there would beg to differ. and t.v. presents a documentary series about becoming
11:39 pm
a mom played your own cleveland show me. when you're still a kid yourself. teen mom. just claim your. the show's original stars have become famous gracing the covers of magazines sold in stores across america but now comes a new development industry experts are saying that young girls are so eager to get on t.v. that they're getting pregnant just to score an audition i want to go ahead and call that utterly disturbing but we have some people on the streets of d.c. what they thought. were you ever want to be on a reality show so much that you would try to get pregnant to be on the show pregnancy is a good way to get on and i mean this is like ridiculous that these girls are trying to get pregnant to be on the show why would you want to be on the show like that's that's no way to be your number that's know it here it's just it's not even about the baby didn't even have the baby to have a baby they had a baby to get on a t.v. show and then they put the baby in another room so they're doing it for the fame
11:40 pm
glimmer do you think it's worth it absolutely it's a bundle of joy but this is a lifetime commitment that is going to be. one of the thing one famous i mean. you just make your own time and one thing and i ask you how old you are. twenty one will say you were sixteen you know would you ever consider you know having a baby for the show my daughter is three so i have i don't know something going to be. an. experience now and. now and then have a child when they went ahead and go to have a network. so nobody out there really thought it sounded like a good idea but is this what we should start expecting in our fame obsessed world well joining me from our studio in new york is the gloss as editor in chief marcus thanks so much for joining us our he was disturbed by this trend as i have. well i hope that's not a trend what i'm really hoping is that this was
11:41 pm
a couple of isolated incidents and a couple of people and it got blown up into a bigger story than it was i'm really hoping that there aren't thousands and thousands of girls across the country getting pregnant just to end up on m.t.v. but maybe i'm just naive. ok i'm with you i don't know apparently this is the industry experts and insiders are now talking about it and spreading the rumors but i think don't these girls get a not only are they going to be stuck with a baby a human being to raise it once the show's over but they're also not going to be famous and on t.v. forever soon as m.t.v. is done with them they're going to move on to the next batch of pregnant teens. well when i was sixteen i can pretty safely say that i was kind of a moron so i don't know if all sixteen year olds are morons but i think that you know you're not an adult there's a reason that you can't vote when you're sixteen there's a reason you can't be in the military when you're sixteen i don't think sixteen year olds around the world are necessarily known for having the world's greatest decision making choices so. you know i don't know if they're necessarily thinking
11:42 pm
these things through when i was sixteen i thought two weeks ahead and that's probably about as far as a lot of these girls are thinking but is it ok to put them on t.v. . i think the original premise of the show when i watched the first season of sixteen and pregnant it really was a traditional documentary style series and i think they did a good job of depicting girls from different situations and different backgrounds all of whom were having babies and gave you a sense of what it might be like to be a teen mom in modern america i think that it's different now that the show is in its third season and that teen mom became such a successful spinoff people are looking at the show in an incredibly different way than how it was originally intended and girls obviously are seeing some of those stars from the original you know teen mom episodes that are now on magazines all over it and every single store you can break went up and so i mean is this something that we have to come to expect is this just becoming natural for our society because people are so obsessed with with the media with fame. you know i
11:43 pm
don't think that's a an inaccurate assumption i think that you know the number one goal of the average gen y. or might be to be famous there are more and more reality shows than there ever have been before and there are more and more outlets that cover all those reality shows i think the difference with this one is that unlike you know survivor where you have to go and perform in physical challenges or unlike a show like big brother where you just get locked in a house of behave like an idiot this one involves bringing another human being into the world and you know changing another person's life and that's where it starts to get really weird yeah i'd say that it gets far more serious here but we have seen an interesting shift here and i don't know tell me if you think that this is solely a result of reality t.v. where people are kids they want to grow up and be famous but they just say i want to be famous they don't say what they want to be famous for i don't want to be a famous athlete or a famous astronaut or famous rock star i just want to be famous. yeah i totally agree with that and there's a really wonderful book by jake halpern called fame junkies where the author goes
11:44 pm
back to his old high school in upstate new york and interviews all the kids in the high school about which profession they'd most like to have when they grow up and it goes through this list like. president of harvard university politician and then one of them is not even a celebrity one of them is assistant to a celebrity and that won by an overwhelming majority and i think what that shows is that people have this idea of what it might be like to be famous and they realize hey i may not have singing talent i may not be able to be an n.b.a. basketball player but there is some way that i can glom a little bit of this for myself ok be honestly i know you're not a teenager anymore but if they had a blogging and pregnant show would you get pregnant just to be on it. no. but i think that has more to do with the pregnant part than the blogging. ok well thank you so much for joining us and i'm with you and hoping that this really isn't a trend and that we don't even see this expand farther because i mean who knows
11:45 pm
what's next we already have seen people in this society that have you know fake the fact that they have cancer just in order to get some attention and you know to do to do interviews and be on the media now we have people want to get pregnant i hope it ends somewhere thanks so much. thanks. well still to come tonight we have our friday fireside chats and then comedian ceaseless stops by president over top stories from this week including that miley cyrus taking bong hits but don't worry it's just salvia stick around for some fun with the. wealthy british sign. market. why don't what's really happening to the global economy with much stronger or no holds barred look at the global financial headlines.
11:46 pm
as you watch this tape i can only imagine the fear and this. they are the new face for this is being recorded for viewing only after the disappearance of god's people from the earth. oh it's a clash of cultures it's a closer civilization still we want to go back to eight a century islamic law and order we will enjoy the lessons and british liberty. really christianity is one of the only religion i think the only one that actually respects the rights of people who break. the spirit in. taking place. the station. can't.
11:47 pm
wait for your moment one of the time and exclaim why. god bless you they live only next to the border but. egypt. on the border of peace and war. they are responsible for themselves. but also for their loved ones. ready to take any risk. it's nice for you side with your.
11:48 pm
as if we had any questions left in our minds as to whether or not lawmakers republicans in particular have the best interest of the people in mind last night perhaps sealed that deal not only did republicans and there's prevent a vote for appealing don't ask don't tell they also chose to filibuster a vital defense bill because it banned discrimination in military ranks because you know republicans hate the idea of equality and justice so unfortunately those votes as disappointing as they were probably couldn't even be considered surprising but i'll tell you what was to me at least last night republican senators blocked the james zadroga nine eleven health and compensation act the bill would provide medical care to rescue workers to others who became ill as a result of breathing in toxic fumes dust and smoke when responding to the attack at the world trade center on september eleventh two thousand and one those people
11:49 pm
responded over nine years ago since that date many have died others have traveled to washington again and again some trailing with oxygen tanks to plead for help in the halls of congress and yet that help was denied to them by republicans and you want to know why it's all because of politics g.o.p. members have made it very clear they will consider nothing until the tax deal that they reached with obama to extend tax cuts for the richest americans has passed does that make you sick to your stomach because i certainly find it revolting upsetting just so i was so wrong this is supposed to be the party of more rallies the party that puts rich people ahead of heroes who risked their lives as first responders to the worst terrorist attack on us soil if anyone out there still wasn't convinced that republican lawmakers. we're currently in office like any charade of decency i said i hope this seals the deal for you open your eyes
11:50 pm
if not if you're still apologizing for them then you're just as bad as they. well it's friday and as always we like to have a little fun at the end of our week by looking at a crop of the funniest stupidest sometimes most disgusting stories and today we've got everything from miley cyrus taking bong rips a school that's urkel ising their students to keep them from wearing baggy pants and a study that claims that thinking about food makes you want it less to which i say that is the biggest lie i have ever heard you have to be kidding me but let's get our guests comedian stephen smith take on all of it and thank you so much for being here you do ok i would be better if miley cyrus didn't exist in this world because
11:51 pm
i just noise the hell out of me and as if we didn't need more reasons to hate or there's now a video of her on the web where she's taking a bong rip of salvia take a look. oh and. you know what you know it makes me say how much you hate her you know you because you literally look for younger version of you and i don't i don't know how did you know you didn't know you didn't know you this when you were able to just i mean ok listen let's talk about this what we'll start with this point i think you're going to get on her for doing a blog let's let's talk about the real facts america right miley cyrus is what you call the child star all right and under the standards of child star doing a bong he is in a mess like a jaywalking for a child star y'all come on now look at this it says compared to lindsey lowe here we drew barrymore you know who's going to say i drew barrymore was doing crack and
11:52 pm
better to a result she would stir the stars in the face of some crack or it's well this chick is doing great let's applaud her and let's also point to the light which is what it was giggling like crazy to. last time you got me on the show if you ever talk about me like that i thought america all right i think she's hot she's eighteen so i six a she's i don't apologize like kanye west so because those are. legal and alone it's clearly hotter in a different kind of way because she has a you're going to show you it's nothing like her place you want your next story see miley cyrus's smoking salvia here but there's a guy in germany who got arrested because he had a seven foot tall christmas tree that was a marijuana plant and he got arrested for it you know it's so funny this is a point my friend made up very good only we do things like this just make up poetry i'm going to make sure you have the plant there you have a you never going to crack a to make a snow cracker gross no cracker like oh this is beautiful like you know it's pretty
11:53 pm
in the luck watch list locate like this is just such a thing to do this like this they have so much time on their hands you know because he has another pile smoke then they can decorate. take their time this is a story that we did yesterday there's a woman in new york who owns a gift card store in order to learn customers and she's also combined her love of dancing i think we have a clip of her as well yes this is since jill and is a serious greeting card designer with a thriving business of the past ten years doesn't she worried that doing pole dancing in her store could make people take her less seriously not at all everyone embraces my art in every form but i do it. you know it's funny i don't know that woman really really that bad news reporter really like really but she grew up thinking man i'm going to go to iraq i'm going to scupper some real stuff to fix the world and then they give are all right cover the street lady the makes cars that woman that woman that reporter had no soul so i know this woman right
11:54 pm
here this is this is i love you she said her for what we were one was i'm not bringing down women i mean powering women by stripping that is the biggest you know that's the easiest. thing in our exactly everything a bucket. i mean power black people like chicken to increase what i'm doing but i believe the switching arrestable do with i was right time running out of time so i want to get to the next story that i really really love so school officials are trying to get kids to stop wearing baggy pants so their urkel izing them by making them wear zip ties all around the way to play video. i'm old school. check out the wall of shame if your picture is here you've been. to come to school with their pants too low or without a belt get them hiked way up and fastened with twist ties and staff members get a trophy for taking part. what do you think of the urkel initiative i think it's like literally because that corner like he's like at least twenty five years too late or try to fix baggy jeans but i do was like thirty five and you can look at
11:55 pm
that eugene old school you're not you're my age. old stuff like in the fall and this is this you know people get shot at with this stuff because of the baggy jeans special machine guns in the crackers on the streets principle do a better job it's all a big bet you'd never have to run baggy jeans in like spaghetti straps or you know like the biggest farmers. what about the crack selling in middle school districts that serve the big distraction the world mr smith look at easy very quickly there's a new study came out that i just think is kharab they say if you think about food that the more you think about a certain food the less likely you are to actually eat it yeah right i don't even understand if i'm sitting around thinking about food and watching the food network i want to eat my father's day that's me all the time like dad at home we're going to think about your food and i realized later i stopped being home because the acid in my stomach actually started eat my fat and that's why i'm skinny as i am now so
11:56 pm
actually it's actually a very legitimate study and we only have this one is that it is all you know world hunger is going to tell the kids living in third world countries yes yes yes i'm imagining and then the other while we every third we don't know the fat people who did last so i want to fit it according to a new study done by bulgarian researcher of men who live in rural areas have larger penises than those who live in urban areas. doesn't suffer me you know why this is nothing but read their propaganda all right i'm sorry no offense i don't apologize i know red it's a bad term. all right you got the lead we got the freedom to lease our penises that's all s.o.s. can we let it go can we study some most about you know i work to art i was suffering too long for dave oppression we got one thing they'll take away all right cowboys is what i do not say why people are black people they're just saying people live out like oh you know i'm a bad there are so many black cowboys i forgot about those guys my bad black cowboys started a oh ok i guess that's out in this place and that is it we are done thinking big is
11:57 pm
