reaction over the terror attack. the president has made a statement today and it he's pointed the finger at the airport authorities and. no you know that it was a huge quantity of explosives that were poured into the airport. and what he said is that there's no way that should have happened at the airport authorities really now need to take responsibility for he said is an ineffective security measures are clearly not in place. what happened shows that the airport lax security it's unbelievable that such a huge amount of explosives was brought into the terminal those officials responsible for security. must be punished for their decisions this is a terror attack a grief a tragedy to. what we lost terrible try to reconnect to her later to get more on the story and i believe we're going to talk

to lindsey has outside of one of the moscow hospitals here moscow lindsay can you hear me. yes i can. tell us what's being done now this point to help those injured in the blast i believe there are over one hundred people in hospitals at the moment. that's right and currently these hospitals are taking blood donations and letting the public know what more it can do to help these people out there are one hundred ten people in hospital at this point thirty nine of those are seriously injured four critically injured it's very tough and go still for those for those four people eight of the people in the hospitals are internationals folks hailing from italy france england and serbia one of the people who is actually deceased was ukrainian playwright ana. her name is very recognizable to people who many people in the theater in the theater world in this

part of the country and she has is known to have been deceased now prime minister putin did meet with the health minister yesterday asking her and her deputies to go to the hospitals where the injured had been taken around moscow to check to make sure everything was being done to see to their comfort and to see that they were as taken care of as possible regarding medicine were guarding blood regarding full staffing whatever's needed to make sure that no one else is lost so that is being done right now at all of these hospitals that the one behind me there are five people currently in their families families are with them aside from that president medvedev has made it very clear that he wants compensation for every every person involved in these blasts the deceased's families of the deceased will be receiving according to him one million rubles the injured will be given

between two hundred and four hundred thousand. roubles and right now a big focus is being put on uniting the families of the deceased and of the injured people with their loved ones at this time so that's a huge emphasis right now is making sure that these hospitals have absolutely everything they know nineteen hospitals in the moscow area were were enlisted in bringing in all one hundred ten of these people to make sure they were cared for as soon as possible especially as it's less than twenty four hours after this incident so it's it's very important right now to make sure that they're operating at their highest levels and that's. all right lindsey french thanks very much for the subject lindsey's outside of one of the mosque hospitals and we can now go back to sara for a while sara at this point i like to know how the investigation is going and what are the findings at this point and also i know that our secret managed to talk to

some of the eyewitnesses. yes so the investigators are still working on the scene with the forensic teams and we know that there's several different versions of events that the working on another predominant one is that this terror attack was carried out by a suicide bomber and from some sources we've heard that police are now looking for a number of other suspects in connection to that attack is still the possibility they dropped off the suicide bomber at the parking area here. and he was that able to enter into the airport now we've also heard that apparently there's no markings on the ground the g.d. expect if the explosion that happened from being carried into c.-k. say that is definitely the main line of investigation at the way but investigation is supposed to be looking at the role that the airport security stuff that played in this attack they've taken the documentation for the safety regulations they'll be going through that with a fine tooth comb they've been studying the c.c.t.v. footage no we got hold of some of that footage from the moment that the explosion
2:07 am
happened incredibly harrowing images of the bodies on the ground in the. after the attack happened and we can head now from some of the eyewitnesses to that explosion . it was nice a people covered in blood with injured limbs and the woman's their faces were covered with blood to someone conscious there was a feeling that something big something heavy fell down there is a construction site near there so we thought that the workers dropped something heavy but people from the second floor say that they felt as shake the building. we were leaving the airport when we had the explosion when we were leaving the luggage claim area there was something in the air and there was smoke our friends were calling us saying that there was an explosion and there were victims the bomb was not in the baggage area but tried behind the doors in the crowd of people welcoming us in the airport principle you're going to hear from me we heard. in the.
2:08 am
huge commotion started immediately the scene was quickly secured the police were everywhere. and offering them first. now what we do know is that this attack happened at the peak arrivals time in the pool it's happened a full thirty day and there are around thirty flights landing fifteen a day since nationalistic everything's it's a tight design schools and much of the amount of damage of course is that investigators working very hard to establish exactly what happened and who is responsible for. what are we know at this point out of security at airports is beefed up so what else is happening there are today. well we've seen it on a day to day as you would expect credibly increased security presence you can see them on the ground at the airport also when you enter into the airport before you get through the doors you have to gate three the security check and put your bike through a metal detector and now this is happened not just a dummy data but it all the incident over the may transportation hubs throughout

most of what people are now saying if they get it by asking a lot of questions as to why the. apologist for this that was our correspondent sara firth reporting from the airport to give us the latest on the increased security there at. well we also have a report by our colleague go on the situation there. russia's busiest air hub rocked by an explosion chaos blood smoke and in the international arrival section. someone detonated an explosive device it was either in luggage or a suicide note i saw the blast a suitcase was on fire and a person had his back to me so the explosive devices are there on this person or in the suitcase i don't know what he looked like he was dressed in black and standing with his back to me blast through me three meters back when i stood up everyone was running towards the exit panicking there was

a lot of black smoke and the lights went out i went for a medical check up at first i thought i had a wound on my head but it turned out i just had someone else's blood on me i mean you can't see anything at the scene of the last it's all kind of gone and the investigators are working you can't see anything there's a distinctive smell in the air which is you know the blast wave was very strong we were quite far from the explosion but even there we could feel the blast wave ears had we felt a strong blow. donative a quickly swarming with police officers special security forces and paramedics investigation almost immediately focusing on one theory. that the police are investigating at the scene the explosion took place in the international arrivals who the suicide bomber suspected of carrying out the attack. initially authorities discussed a total evacuation of the airport but demanded of a continued business as usual there with some noticeable changes with the

unprecedented security measures now in place of the domodedovo airport everybody who is meeting and greeting those wire arriving is forced to stand right here behind me and this is the departures lounge in fact the security measures are so strict that we were actually told twice to leave and not to film those looking to get out of them or dead of a were offered free travel on the rail shuttle between the airport and central moscow some good samaritans even driving stricken passengers home for free the tragedy resonated throughout the world with condolences pouring in from london paris warsaw and washington many observers say this latest attack on russia has far reaching implications the growing islamism is a global phenomenon but the terrorism is usually caused by even splinter groups of than the islamist. movement and those are usually pretty local with local causes for instance al qaeda attacks the united states for its foreign policy that sort of

thing so it's seems like a global movement but it's really not that coordinated various groups attack various countries for various reasons and it's usually local but while world leaders are left to ponder the ramifications of the latest deadly attack on russia most russians have not allowed terrorism to ground their plans coming and going as they were before the blast it even goes court mosco. dennison mota london based expert on terrorism and conflict resolution suggest those responsible for the attack are connected with international terror groups we must keep in mind that. the insurgency in the north caucuses has not now has connections with other terrorist groups in the middle east and in other parts of the world so we are seeing yet another. yet another attack against innocent civilians

on the same. as happened in new york in london and paris and in other parts of the world. of course the insurgency in the north caucuses has moods and. there are courses for it that are local but in the end this is in my view a part of much wider international. met. the bloody scenes of a moscow attack are written innocent of what can be seen in a computer game kind of virtual involves a character who is urged to kill civilians in an imaginary airport the aftermath of monday's blast has sparked hot debate as the stuff of fictional computer game became a shocking reality artie's lauren lyster reports a terrorist attack kills dozens of innocent people in creates chaos at a moscow airport fact. it was fiction it's the scenario

being played out here in this popular american video game sold worldwide call of duty modern warfare two does no russian in this mission the player goes on a terrorist rampage hoping to massacre civilians in a fictitious moscow airport it may have seemed too gruesome and tragic to become troops were it not for the very real events seen here at the dome a judge of zero airport more than thirty people have been killed more than one hundred eighty injured in what investigators believe was a terrorist attack committed by a suicide bomber inside the international arrivals of russia's busiest airport. cars a video game version a lot more people have been involved in this violence the video game was released in november of two thousand and nine by the american company activision and in just a few months sales had surpassed one billion dollars now even for people that

didn't download the game just a simple you tube search where you type in the russian can reveal that segment right here this one has eight hundred seventy thousand views now with so many people seemingly downloading playing or watching this game you have to consider whether or not anybody ever thought that this game could so closely resemble reality indeed it's trouble to look at the game and then the reality of the issue is we need to know if terrorists or extremists are using these videos or these d.v.d.'s with these games to basically applaud the model is a way in which you know entertainment mirrors reality and reality mirrors entertainment and there are people who are influenced by all of this even though the manufacturers always deny that it has any influence on anyone. denials aside some say games like this can aid and abet reality. i think though who have been

radicalized already that suppose in this case your hobby is a car or other crime they look at the games and see that these games will sort of them to train as for the aftermath russian officials say don't forget to go airport will recover quite soon and a range of public figures came out condemning the attack. but so far no one is coming out questioning justification for a virtual version lauren lyster r.t. new york and we'll be bringing you more from moscow airports around the day here on r t but you can also get the details about the blast on our website r t v dot com all the latest video eyewitnesses comments expert opinion and much more available for you online at r.t. dot com.

the blast at the moscow airport may also affect the upcoming world's economic forum and the swiss town of davos russia's president dmitry medvedev was scheduled to open the summit but after the attack he said he would delay his arrival we now cross live to respond to laura and me who is in switzerland for us now a lawyer or what have you heard about the president's visit. well we don't know an awful lot at this stage merino we do know that as you said president medvedev has postponed his visit to davos we don't know whether it's been perspective we've heard no words we know that it's been proposed we've heard no word that he's canceling it all together so we still are expecting him to come to davos at some stage this week he was supposed to make this very important opening speech it's a great honor for medvedev to be asked to make this speech it really sort of russia in a very important part of the world economic forum here in davos last year this speech
2:18 am
was made by president nicolas sarkozy so he was he was obviously looking forward to making that speech pleased to be asked it was excellent for russia but now it looks like he may may not make that speech we don't know whether he's going to be here on wednesday in time to make it so someone else may have to make it to his place we have heard that he may come on thursday or he may come on wednesday to make that speech and then leave almost immediately afterwards but whatever happens it is going to change the face of this forum somewhat. or given the situation is likely that security issues will dominate the sidelines of the second amik forum. it is i mean this certainly will bring security issues firmly into the spotlight davos is traditionally quite you can see where way up here in the swiss alps and it's quite difficult for business leaders to keep a finger on the pulse of what's going on in the world while they're here in davos so traditionally the important events that happen immediately before the forum
2:19 am
begins do dominate the talks that goes on one of the things that was already on the agenda for davos this year was to create what they're calling a risk response network that sort of network of leaders throughout the world to coordinated global response to what the forum's participants will perceive the major risks to people in the world to be in the coming years now that's going to be a risk of another economic meltdown they're also going to talk about food shortages but also they will already have been talking about terrorism but now of course that's going to be that much more important they're going to look at that much more closely in the aftermath of this tragedy president received telephone calls and letters and messages of condolences from leaders all around the world and of course he can expect more of the same when he arrives here in davos if indeed he does come the u.k. prime minister david cameron will be fair and of course we now know that two
2:20 am
britons were killed in this attack so we can expect them to have a conversation about that and it's interesting what's happened as far as attitudes in the world towards terror attacks in russia go in recent years previously it was seen as very much a problem the attacks that happened in russia were part of a distinctly russian problem stemming from unrest in the caucasus areas like start in english but we've seen more and more recently particularly in the aftermath of the most bombings last year the world leaders have come out and recognize that as part of a wider global terror threat and said you know we now know that the people who are attacking. airports in metro stations in russia have proven links to al qaeda some of those being funded by them some of them of going to training camps in other countries too that's being more and more recognizes busted this global terror threat and that was the pits in my eyes really by the chief of nato mr rasmussen who came out and said this is
2:21 am
a common fight that we have to face you know i said that was his message to the people of russia expect more messages of condolence condolence and of solidarity from natives around the world. all right laura thanks very much for bringing us the latest ahead of the davos summit there a lower end it. and the council of europe will debate the findings of an explosive report into the alleged trafficking of organs and costs of all the claims were contained and choir by swiss human rights rubber turd dick marty accusing high ranking members of the cost of a liberation army of murdering serbian and cost prisoners and selling their organs almost two thousand ethnic serbs and albanians remain missing from the cost of war at the end of the ninety nine. reports without a trace that's how the brother disappeared along with thousands of other people. he went to work as usual with his friends to the blotch of its mine and that was it
2:22 am
i never saw him again we went to the police and everyone else we can think of after the war i thought there'd be an exchange of prisoners and hundreds of obedience were freed there's so many serbs are still missing now after twelve years i've lost all the international officials who didn't do anything before when they easily could. after the cost of a war over two thousand people went missing and over a decade later are still unaccounted for. but a grim report brought to the council of europe by swiss investigator dick marty has shed some light on the gruesome fate of all those missing according to the report senior officials in the cost of the liberation army including current prime minister hussian touchy horn volved in kidnapping serbs and selling their organs on the black market. there was at least one custom built element to the post conflict network of detention facilities which was unique in appearance and purpose it constituted a state of the art reception center for the organized crime of organ trafficking it
2:23 am
was styled as a makeshift operating clinic and it was the site at which some of the captives held by the k.l.a. members and affiliates had the kidneys removed against their will according to our sources the ringleaders of this criminal enterprise then ship the human organs out of albania and sew them to private overseas clinics as part of the international black market of organ trafficking transplantation. finding living victims of these crimes may be near impossible but dick marty's group found the next best thing the money trail and you would. have these accounts i'm sure it's in german banks and they're suspected of using them for the profits from illegal organ trafficking sumption is that some alleged from an interior an organization opened these accounts one of them for example. there was just a cover story of course said that the troops. would remain a secret. but it is
2:24 am
a secret no more and understandably the swiss government is very concerned as are the swiss bankers this is very important for us regarding also the confidence i've directed taishan of the financial center of switzerland and that's why the report of the wheels also to look off the base to go behind. the swiss banking community is known and favored for its discretion and unwillingness to disclose its client information to any investigative party however this time around they may not have a choice but on the plots of the financial at the center of zero most of the countries four hundred seventy financial institutions have offices or headquarters here but that isn't the only thing they have in common fiercely guarding their reputation is what swiss banks are famous for and despite the fact the investigation is still ongoing it is almost certain that within these walls damage

control is already being planned out. cash as are r.t.e. switzerland. russia's lower house of parliament the state duma is to consider ratification of russia u.s. treaty to arms reduction treaty in a third and last reading or does it work as kind of joins us live from very hard moscow with more details on this story it or it seems like we're very close to the actual ratification of the treaty by the russian side so what are the chances of success there well the chances are quite high it's very likely that this the duma is going to ratify the new strategic arms reduction treaty between moscow and washington just initially it was backed by the presidents of both countries and the united russia party which holds the majority of the seats in the parliament also let the media know previously that it's very clear that the treaty is going to be ratified this is the third and final meeting it's already started actually starting with
2:26 am
a minute of silence in commemoration of the victims of monday's blast in the airport after a ratified in the. formalities will be left should be you would have by the federation council and then signed by the president just to remind you this is the third such meeting between moscow and washington the first one was signed back in one thousand nine hundred one then the second one in eighty three and now the third one this one and it's expected that it should reduce the number of nuclear arms on each side by at least one third so very significant in terms of the reduction of the nuclear arms in the world. russian legislators have made a man's response to the american side so what are they tell us more well officially they're not called amendments they're called special statements and you're absolutely right the congress u.s. congress has also made its own special statement deputies of the year russians the
2:27 am
duma are making their special statements as well the first. one is ensuring that moscow will be able to withdraw from this treaty if it feels threatened by u.s. missile defense plans in europe the second one is that the. the statements the special statements made by the u.s. congress are non binding meaning that they do not expel washington from its obligation in this treaty and also the deputies have said that they are securing the link between a strategic nuclear on and missile defense systems a legal link between these two will now the congress has previously made its all its own special statements or amendments normally speaking it's one of these special statements is aimed at providing the window of legal opportunity to
2:28 am
modernize the nuclear arsenal and the other one is aimed at not allowing the treaty to obstruct. its anti missile missile defense plans so here are the discussion is going to be continuing for the rest of the day but like i said it's very likely that the state duma is going to ratify it. ok or thanks very much for bringing us of the latest on this ng orcas going off there. and you are watching r.t. live from moscow another update of the top stories coming up in just a few moments stay with us.
