attack. well first of the date of his latest statement today and it he pointed the finger firmly thirty's in management. now we know that yesterday a large quantity of explosives was able to be taken inside the airport and what he said is that the airport authorities really no need to take responsibility for clearly not having had effective security measures in place. what happened. to the airport security it's unbelievable this is a huge amount of explosives was brought into the terminal those officials responsible for security. must be punished for their decisions this is a grief a tragedy. now we've heard much the same from the country's antiterrorism committee that it's really quite unbelievable that this was able to happen now they have good security measures as you'd expect in place today but what people are
3:03 am
really asking know is why and what in place to prevent this happening now the investigators at the moment at the scene where the explosion happened that's still working with the forensic teams to trying to establish exactly what it was that happened yesterday no we know that there's a number of different versions of events that working with the production one we've heard is that it is a suicide bomber that carried out this attack and the police supposedly looking for a number of other suspects in relation and connection to the attack and the possibly they jumping off the parking area. and to the international arrival section now that last went off. yesterday and we've seen some of the c.c.t.v. footage from the apple security cameras really very harrowing images of the bodies on the ground and the dense smoke that was from up close and we can hear now from some of the eyewitnesses to that. reisa people covered in blood with
3:04 am
injured limbs and the ones their faces were covered with blood to someone conscious there was a feeling that something big something heavy fell down there is a construction site near there so we thought that the workers dropped something heavy but people from the second floor say that they felt a shake. and. we were leaving the airport when we had the explosion when we were leaving the luggage claim area there was something in the air and there was smoke our friends were calling us saying that there was an explosion and there were victims the bomb was not in the baggage area but right behind the doors in the crowd of people welcoming us in the airport. going to be up to me we heard. for a huge commotion started immediately the scene was quickly secured the police were everywhere. offering them first. now what we do know is that this explosion occurred at the peak of arrivals at the airport there are thirty
3:05 am
flights landing fifteen a day is international so it really does seem like this attack was designed to close the backs and the possible damage and tragically that's already claimed thirty five lives over one hundred eighty people injured they are being treated now hospitals around. arthur will return to you shortly but let me just a go to lindsay. and lindsay tell us what's going on where you are the moment you're outside of the hospitals and what's being done to help those injured in the blast. well out of the one hundred ten people taken to the hospital as a result of this blast thirty nine are seriously injured and four are reported critical now in the hospital behind you we've got eleven people one is from g.g. and one of those eleven people is in extremely serious serious critical condition and there have been seven surgeries so far a lot of shrapnel wounds the doctors are telling us shrapnel head to toe very very
3:06 am
grave injuries they're looking at at this point now there are eight international. so far reported to have been injured. and those are coming from italy france england. and serbia prime minister putin had met with the ministry of health on this yesterday asking her to please bring deputies to the different moscow hospitals that absorb these one hundred ten injured and inspect facilities make sure that there is more than enough staff. on call at this point to deal with. a number of injured deal with medicine to make sure there's enough blood and in fact these hospitals are calling for blood if it's at all possible to get to these hospitals at this point and donate please do so. aside from that the government plans to compensate. family members of deceased by one million rubles
3:07 am
and to offer the injured between two hundred and four hundred thousand rubles as compensation to help deal with these injuries more information is coming out all the time from these hospitals and of course we'll keep you updated on that absolutely let's now go back to sara will sara you mentioned earlier that the security stepped up at the airport today what else is happening there. well on the ground the security stuff. is much more runs as he said when he. met with that security check when you go to put your luggage through the mess of the take we saw this stuff in security not just happening. at all the major transportation hubs in moscow after the explosion happened yesterday he said well what we're hearing now is that really that seems like too little too late the explosion happened these measures should have probably been in place beforehand and that's certainly something that's going to be looked at very closely you know we've
3:08 am
also present the data saying that they're going to need let's take another look at the country the anti terrorism those now we know that these were after the attack on the net express in the most that shape of things now the magic moments happening less than a year ago it was being said now is that these laws really need to be scrutinized to see how they're operating in practice where the weaknesses are what more can be done to ensure that something like this doesn't happen again. rocked by an explosion chaos blood smoke and in the international arrival section. someone detonated an explosive device it was either in luggage or a suicide. blast suitcase was on fire and a person has parked to me the explosive devices are the only person know in the suitcase i don't know what he looked like he was dressed in black and standing with his back to me plus three me three meters back and i stood up everyone was running
3:09 am
towards the exit panicking there was a lot of black smoke and the lights went out i went for medical checkup at first i thought i had a wound on my head but it turned out i just had someone else's blood on me i mean you can't see anything at the scene of the last it's all kind of gone and the investigators are working you can't see anything there's a distinctive smell in the air which is you know the blast wave was very strong we were quite far from the explosion but even there we could feel the blast wave ears had we felt a strong blow. doesn't it have a quickly swarming with police officers special security forces and paramedics investigation almost immediately focusing on one theory. the police are investigating at the scene the explosion took place in the international arrivals who the suicide bomber suspected of carrying out the attack. initially authorities discussed a total evacuation of the airport but demanded of
3:10 am
a continued business as usual though with some noticeable changes with the unprecedented security measures now in place of the domodedovo airport everybody who is meeting and greeting those wire arriving is forced to stand right here behind me and this is the departures lounge in fact this occurred the measures are so strict that we are actually told twice to leave and not to tell those looking to get out of them are dead of a were offered free travel on the rail shuttle between the airport and central moscow some good samaritans even driving stricken passengers home for free the tragedy resonated throughout the world with condolences pouring in from london paris warsaw and washington many observers say this latest attack on russia has far reaching implications growing islamism is a global phenomenon but the terrorism is usually caused by even splinter groups of than the islamist. movement and those are usually pretty local with local causes
3:11 am
for instance al qaeda attacks the united states for its foreign policy that sort of thing so it's seems like a global movement but it's really not that coordinated various groups attack various countries for various reasons and it's usually local but while world leaders are left to ponder the ramifications of the latest deadly attack on russia most russians have not allowed terrorism to ground their plans coming and going as they were before the blast it even goes court t.v. mosco. and with the russian capital experiencing attacks in the past the latest deadly incident at a moscow airport has raised further security questions president dmitry medvedev cold event a terrorist attack and immediately called for increased security at moscow's other airports and transport facilities barden explored moscow's on the ground network to find out what's being done for protection there. wondering year ago this place was covered in thousands it was in this memory station the places where
3:12 am
a female suicide bomber detonated their explosives today it's a potent reminder not only of the ever present threat of terrorism but also of the resilience of the russian people yesterday. the terrorist who blew himself up in the arrivals hall was a reminder of that now today it's rush hour around the same time that last march the bomb went off it was afternoon rush hour yesterday the start of afternoon rush hour when the terrorist with himself in the arrivals hall yet there's a visibly heightened security presence the security forces trying to reassure people that they're safe people are very much as you see getting on the this. yesterday around two hours of the attack president then gave a televised address which he said some of the common sense things that people can forget in the sense of running find the culprits help the wounded and comfort those
3:13 am
who have lost the president also said that it is clear in the light of this attack at the country's antiterrorism laws are not being followed properly few people would disagree with that but it's also clear though the threat of terrorism is never present the russian people on north towards and mike this latest incident. dumbarton they're now down as some of a london based expert on terrorism and conflict resolution suggest those responsible for the attack are connected with international terror groups we must keep in mind that. the insurgency in the north caucasus has not now has connections with other terrorist groups in the middle east and in other parts of the world so we are seeing here is another. yet another. attack against innocent civilians on the same. as happened in
3:14 am
new york in london. and in other parts of the world. of course the insurgency in the north caucuses has domestic moods and. there are courses for it that are local but in the end this is in my view part of why the international. commit the bloody scenes of the moscow attack are reminiscent of what can be seen in a computer game conversely involves a character who is urged to kill civilians in an imaginary airport the aftermath of monday's blast has sparked hot debate as the stuff fictional computer game became a shocking reality argues lauren lyster reports a terrorist attack kills dozens of innocent people in create chaos at a moscow airport fact. or fiction it's the scenario being played out here in this popular american video game sold worldwide call of
3:15 am
duty modern warfare two doves no russian in this mission the player goes on a terrorist rampage hoping to massacre civilians in a fictitious moscow airport it may have seemed too gruesome and tragic to become true were it not for the very real events seen here at the dome of judge of the airport more than thirty people have been killed more than one hundred eighty injured in what investigators believe was a terrorist attack committed by a suicide bomber inside the international arrivals of russia's busiest airport. tars a video game version a lot more people have been involved in this violent video game was released in november of two thousand and nine by the american company activision and in just a few months sales had served one billion dollars now even for people that didn't download the game just a simple you tube search where you type in no russian can reveal that segment right
3:16 am
here this one has eight hundred seventy thousand views now with so many people seemingly downloading playing or watching this game you have to consider whether or not anybody ever thought that this game could so closely resemble reality indeed it's trouble to look at the game and then the reality of the issue is we need to know if terrorists or extremists are using these videos or these d.v.d.'s with these games to basically apply in the model there's a way in which you know entertainment mirrors reality and reality mirrors entertainment and there are people who are influenced by all this even though the manufacturers always deny that it has any influence on anyone. denials aside some say games like this can aid and abet reality. i think though who have been radicalized already let's suppose in this case your hobby is al qaida or other kind
3:17 am
they look at the games and see that these games will serve them to train as for the aftermath russian officials say don't forget to go airport will recover quite soon and a range of public figures came out condemning the attacks. but so far no one is coming out questioning justification for a virtual version lauren lyster r.t. new york we'll be bringing you more from moscow airport throughout the day here in our t.v. you can get all the details about the blast on our website which is r t dot com all the latest video eyewitnesses comments expert opinion and much more available there for you online at our t v dot com. the blast of the moscow airport may also affect the upcoming world economic forum

in the swiss town of davos russia's president dmitry medvedev was scheduled to open the summit but after the attack he said he would delay his arrival argues laura amate is in switzerland. we've heard no word that he's cancelling it all together so we still are expecting him to come to davos at some stage this week he was supposed to make this very important opening speech it's a great honor for medvedev to be asked to make this speech it really sort of russia in a very important part of the world economic forum here in davos last year this speech was made by president nicolas sarkozy so he was he was obviously looking forward to making that speech pleased to be asked it was excellent for russia but now it looks like he may may not make that speech we don't know whether he's going to be here on wednesday in time to make it so someone else may have to make it to his place we have heard that he may come on thursday or he may come on wednesday to make that speech and then leave almost immediately afterwards in the aftermath of this
3:19 am
tragedy president medvedev received telephone calls and letters and messages of condolences from leaders all around the world and of course he can expect more of the same when he arrives here in davos if indeed he does come the u.k. prime minister david cameron will be here and of course we now know that two britons were killed in this attack we can expect them to have a conversation about that and it's interesting what's happened as far as attitudes in the world towards terror attacks in russia go in recent years previously it was seen as very much a problem that attacks that happened in russia were part of a distinctly russian problem stemming from unrest in the caucasus areas like dagestan ingushetia but we've seen more and more recently particularly in the aftermath of the moscow metro bombings last year old leaders have come out and recognize that as part of a wider global terror threat and said you know we now know that the people who are
3:20 am
attacking ports in metro stations in russia have proven links to al qaida some of them being funded by them some of them of going to training camps in other countries that's being more and more recognize is part of this global terrorist. and that was epitomized really by the chief of nato mr rasmussen who came out and said this is a common fight that we have to face you know i said that was his message to the people of russia have come to expect more messages of condolence condolence and of solidarity from ages around the world or am i to talk to earlier and the council of europe will debate the findings of an explosive report into the alleged trafficking of organs in costs of all the claims were contained in an inquiry by swiss human rights repertory dick marty accusing high ranking members of the cost of the liberation army of murdering serbian and cost of all banyan prisoners and selling their organs almost two thousand ethnic serbs and albanians remain missing from the cost of a war at the end of the one nine hundred ninety s. as are to his country as are we now reports without
3:21 am
a trace that's how the brother disappeared along with thousands of other people. he went to work as usual with his friends to the bullets of it's mine and that was it i never saw him again we went to the police and everyone else we could think of after the war i thought there'd be an exchange of prisoners and hundreds of obedience were freed the sunni serbs are still missing now after twelve years i've lost all the international officials who didn't do anything before when they easily could. after the cost of a war over two thousand people went missing and over a decade later are still unaccounted for but a grim report brought to the council of europe by swiss investigator dick marty has shed some light on the gruesome fate of all those missing according to the report senior officials in the cost of the liberation army including current prime minister question touchy were involved in kidnapping serbs and selling their organs on the black market. there was at least one custom built element to the post
3:22 am
conflict network of detention facilities which was unique in appearance and purpose it constituted a state of the art reception center for the organized crime of organ trafficking it was styled as a makeshift operating clinic and it was the site at which some of the captives held by the k.l.a. members and affiliates had their kidneys removed against their will according to our sources the ringleaders of this criminal enterprise then shipped the human organs out of albania and sold them to private overseas clinics as part of the international black market of organ trafficking transplantation. finding living victims of these crimes may be near impossible but dick marty's group found the next best thing the money trail and the liberation army have these accounts and source in german banks and are suspected of using them for the profits from illegal we're going to have a sumption is that some alleged from an interior an organization opened these

accounts one of them for example the scope. there was just a cover story of course she did the true purpose of mine you would remain a secret. but it is a secret no more and understandably the swiss government is very concerned as are the swiss bankers this is very important for us regarding also the confidence. of the financial center of switzerland and that's why the report of the wheels government also to look at the base is to go behind. the swiss banking community is known and favored for its discretion and unwillingness to disclose its client information to any investigative party however this time around they may not have a choice but on the plots of the financial at the center of zero most of the countries four hundred seventy financial institutions have offices or headquarters
3:24 am
here but that isn't the only thing they have in common fiercely guarding their reputation is what swiss banks are famous for and despite the fact the investigation is still ongoing it is almost certain that within these walls damage control is already being planned out. cash orders are r.t.e. zurich switzerland. russia's lower house of parliament the state duma is considering ratification of russia u.s. strategic arms reduction treaty in a search and a last reading are going off has the details very likely that the state is going to ratify the new strategic arms reduction treaty between moscow and washington was initially it was backed by. the presidents of both countries and the united russia party which holds the majority of the seats in the parliament also let the media know previously that it's very likely that the treaty is going to be ratified this is the third and final meeting it's already started actually starting with
3:25 am
a minute of silence in commemoration of the victims of monday's blast in the world airport after it's a ratified in the state duma formalities will be left it should be reviewed by the federation council and then signed by the president just to remind you this is the third such between moscow and washington the first one was signed back in one thousand nine hundred one then the second one in ninety three and now the third one this one and it's expected that it should reduce the number of nuclear arms on each side by at least one third so very significant in terms of the reduction of the nuclear arms in the world u.s. congress has also made its own special statement deputies of the russian state duma are making their special statements as well the first one is aimed at ensuring that moscow will be able to withdraw from this treaty if it feels threatened by u.s.
3:26 am
missile defense plans in europe the second one is that the. the statements the special statements made by the u.s. congress are non binding meaning that they do not expel washington from its obligation in this treaty and also the deputies have said that they are securing the link between a strategic nuclear on and missile defense systems a legal link between these two now the congress has previously made its all its own special stay. amendments normally speaking it's one of these special statements is aimed at providing the window of legal opportunity to modernize the nuclear arsenal and the other one is aimed at not allowing the treaty to obstruct.
3:27 am
the missile defense plans so. the discussion is going to be continuing for the rest of the day but like i said it's very likely that the state duma is going to ratify it you have this kind of i talked to earlier and coming up in just a few moments we've got a business update with. time to get the latest market news a very warm welcome to russia's smallest banks will have to increase their capital up to an equivalent of ten million dollars by two thousand to fifteen the increased threshold will reduce default risk while driving the weakest banks out of business
3:28 am
and increasing competition among those that remain almost four hundred banks below the threshold but the fortunes believe they have enough time to beef up their reserves. let's see how the markets are faring this hour here in moscow both the r.t.s. and the my six are recovering after a slight correction on monday the shock of the bomb attack on domodedovo airport they are t.s.a. is point six percent off them to my six point three percent off to approximately one hour of trading. and in asia stock markets closed session in the red bull the wall street strong performance the optimism was fueled by the bank of japan's decision to keep the key rate unchanged wind zero and zero point one percent industrials and energy stocks were among top games. so we have time for knowledge joining us for more in one hour's time.
3:29 am
