not from a studio. with you twenty four hours a day. threatening to sue the u.k.'s guardian newspaper. about the online whistleblower the newspaper's also being accused of editing the confidential diplomatic cables it received from the website and that reports now on what's behind the bitter dispute. they were better than exposing us embassy secrets to the world but now wiki leaks and the guardian have rapidly fallen out of love and it's turning nasty in the original agreement between wiki leaks and its partner publications the partners were to help publish cables on the whistle blowing web site blocking out names to protect the innocent was allowed but sources close to wiki leaks maintain the guardian went one step further accusing the newspaper of redacting the cables to suit its own political and editorial agenda

something the guardian denies one of the alleged missions focuses on iranian dissident politicians and the guardian we each. have. when they don't want such things to be known to their own deals they will. want to cover the world. view because everything was good to a ball girl position. in such a way that either of the guards or than the virtually any that are of the killings would never know how those people themselves view. the guardian reports ali had been a is just another political liar an intriguer. but what it leaves out is his why did description of the opposition as lacking organization and preaching problems of ultimate direction and leadership specific opposition figures are.

stubborn but not charismatic. courageous but would if you institutional allies tommy cautious and weak all editing that seems to match the guardian's liberal agenda as it suggests the iranian opposition is divided something which doesn't fit western narratives in cables about the activities of western companies in kazakhstan the guardian failed to publish details of alleged bribery the actual cable talked of an internal investigation in a western company over five years during which former employees caused the company to pay five point two million to agents with the disappearance would influence because our professionals to allow the company to obtain business in other words bribing officials to contracts to the companies allegedly involved british gas and any italy's gas giant that this isn't necessarily the story that the guardian wants to tell that the that there are editorial pressures on them but it also could be
5:04 pm
simply the lawyers at the guardian are getting a bit jumpy and saying well look we can't accuse people of bribes because they're incredibly powerful and they're rich and this is one of the problems with the laws of libel and the lawyers at newspapers is that they're actually only afraid of the rich and powerful ordinary people they will say almost anything about them because . these people don't have the means to sue the guardian or was cocky. although britain's prince andrew may have wished the guardian had edited information about his behavior in kyrgyzstan more thorough. elsewhere some media commentators say the reason for the guardian's alterations was to help simplify the information it's the only way it could be done there's so much material and it is so a lot of the form is difficult to inaccessible it has to be translated into journalism the people who understand the guardian declined to give us an interview
5:05 pm
but did send a statement saying they redacted cables to two reasons to protect sources who might be placed at risk or to protect the guardian from legal action under u.k. libel law being sued is something the guardian might have to get used to wiki leaks founder julian assange threatening legal action over the newspapers book which contains malicious libel wiki leaks made a political choice when it decided to publish through the guardian a left leaning newspaper that takes a liberal but certainly in this case to be the wrong one and with the guardian's recent publication of the book portraying the newspaper its dealings with wiki leaks in a deeply and a favorable light it's a relationship that's gone truly sour. this is. east coast. looks. great.

high profile business leaders installed in top government positions. in the reports it has many questioning whether what's good for business is good for americans to. for two decades jobs and dollars have flown out of the us and across the pacific meanwhile the american people have suffered high unemployment and a diminished standard of living looking for someone to blame politicians point to asian countries on the rise seemingly at america's expense the american people have also borne the brunt of china's mercantile trade policies which promote trade surpluses through cheap exports based upon an artificial depreciation of china's currency overlooked in washington is the us corporate jungle it's become the elephant in the room this is not the explain to the american working class into the american middle class d. or both destined to oblivion because of all this is decided by corporate boards

inside the us which are now global corporations so those who agree say it's right here the problem started that us corporations hijacked american jobs and investment dollars taking them overseas with free rein to boost their bottom line fueled by this mindset so we do look allies two ways of the sellers are nil there's no worker movement to you know cut us off from our maximization of profits and in the us it appears no lawmakers will try to cut them off either president obama after pushing to regulate the business community has taken to embracing it here in the interest of being more neighborly he wants to befriend the u.s. chamber of commerce if we had brought over a fruitcake when i first moved in we would have gotten off to a better start making up for lost time he appointed a j.p. morgan wall street executive to be his chief of staff. and he tapped the c.e.o. of america's fourth largest corporation to head as council on jobs and

competitiveness that's jeff immelt of general electric i'm confident that they'll generate good ideas. about how we can spur hiring educate our workers to compete in the twenty first century and attract the best jobs and businesses to america rather than seeing them spring up overseas but optimism can overcome reality what's good for a company like g.e. isn't necessarily what's good for america and that goes for any company but staring powerful corporate money and interests in the face you don't hear the president saying that this guy's running for reelection nor the mainstream media beholden to their corporate owners the people criticizing corporations it's all about the bottom line find themselves locked out of the conversation like these plant workers fighting their company to keep their medical benefits they argue when it comes to u.s. corporations the priorities are this so it's about profits over people oh yeah definitely

how many break ups or divorces some of your games have caused for people who got so hot they couldn't stop well actually when i was casting vice city one of the actors that came in and he said this and that was his four and we explained to him you know it's for grants out of my city and he just kind of took a step back and kind of apologize and so that he can partake in the casting and basically what happened was that he was playing grand theft auto three. and he went up locking himself in his room while he was actually having a pretty tough time in his marriage he came out two days later from nonstop playing the game to find his apartment pretty much empty and his wife gone and so for that reason he didn't feel like he could you know be a part of the new cast for grand theft auto so it's definitely had an impact was the longest period of time you heard about when someone would sit down and play your game continuously but i think this guy kind of broke the record he said he went fifty hours straight and he kind of he was wife left and this new game that you're working on one nine hundred seventy nine is based off the history of iran
5:24 pm
and apart from the fact that you were born there why did you choose this space this new game off off this country in particular i came to realize that there is a number of different sides to a story and that this aspect if introduced in a game could kind of revolutionize how we play games it's not a matter of bad guys going after good guys or good guys going after bad guys it's a matter of or a whole bunch of people with being in a number of different colors whether they're you ronnie an american pro-democracy pope pro theocracy whether they want to just make money on the side by sneaking in alcohol or whether they want to make sure that everyone follows the religious rules of islam these are all different stories and to be able to actually convey that and let people interact as those players we just open up this entire genre of gaming but how much of a political context does this game have and especially if we talk about timing for
5:25 pm
example because of course you know the united states is building up this idea that iran is a very big threat to america and the fact that you're working on this game do you think you'll get some sort of reactions and feedback in terms of you know a political maybe message that you're trying to send out absolutely i mean i think right off the bat it's quite controversial because i am saying that there are no good guys trying to games or the real world in the real world in the real or in games. games might exist but games are really a reflection of what we've seen in entertainment and what we've seen in politics it doesn't really make a difference what somebody says is good awards it's a matter of perspective you know if you're in iran and you feel that the united states is about to attack you and you were as a plumber and you have three kids and you just try to take care of your living you are going to view the united states as a bad guy because they're planning on attacking you i mean this is been pretty much what's been addressed in regards to the number of civilian deaths in afghanistan
5:26 pm
but on the other side you know you take a look at. some of the good documentaries that have come out of afghanistan you get to really understand what these u.s. soldiers are doing down there they believe in the cause that they're doing and they believe that they're trying to do something good nobody is to say that this person is right and this person is wrong it's just a matter of what the situation is dictated and the legions of people that are making decisions that is kind of caused these conflicts but the people involved in them might not be the true aggressor there's a number of different facets to it and that i'm not pointing to saying that americans are bad or iranians are bad i'm saying the situation is bad there's been quite a bit of controversy about this game call of duty modern warfare two there is episode in there where a terrorist attacks people at a russian airport obviously it's a game but we just saw terror acts take place in a moscow airport and now we're pretty similar absolutely what do you make of that
5:27 pm
it's funny because i played that game and i actually stopped playing that particular point it's definitely it's sad situation what took place in russia that the airport and this media game aspect of it happens i think coincidentally many games seem to on the contrary build up a certain terror act or certain events i know there's a game out there that's called september twelfth and so on which obviously gets people to join because of certain real events that took place in terms of what's happening with games where people are actually jumping on top of controversies. so i think it's foolish for us to recognize that controversy and when it comes to game selling when it comes to movies when it comes to anything when it comes to ticket sales is something that drives people to jump on such marketing campaigns i want to ask you this technology is obviously moving very very quickly these days what is the most exciting thing in the world of video games we would you say can expect in the next decade and the next decade who are that i don't think i even i can just
5:28 pm
tell you that what's exciting me right now is the i pad basically all the tablets in general what can be played on that in terms of gaming is is amazing terms of gameplay it's just going to get more and more detail and hopefully provide people with greater experiences so we can sorry thank you very much for your time thanks for having. us or is that so much different if you visit israel on the market dilemma democracy versus stability can egypt. or the u.s. and its own. heat.
