i think the mass movement in egypt is a movement from national independence to mere colonialism and for democracy if you heard the slogans that were being chanted it was egypt egypt egypt meaning we are fed up of being bullied by foreign powers and forced into peace treaties which don't do was any good and our generals both directly with billions of dollars by the pentagon i think people are fed up of that and they want something different and they have forked for it and they have lost lives three hundred to get transferred died in this struggle thousands were injured they have sacrifice these things and they will not want to give them up too easily how deep then do you think washington will be involved in the upcoming elections. i think that washington will be involved and the big question washington has is nothing should happen to

destabilize their permanent israel that is all they're concerned about and they're also concerned about the effects of this are people now on jordan on yemen and who knows even them saudi arabia and bahrain so regardless of what washington wants to try to control the situation because when arab people in the yemen in saudi arabia in bahrain in jordan in algeria see what their fellow arabs have retrieved in to them to new syria and egypt the temptation is going to be if them why not are so it is not going to be easy for washington to control all of these countries i think the big pressure they are putting at the moment is that what ever else happens there must be no break with israel in other words the new government should carry on with the siege of gaza carry on subordinating addiction

whatever they were given the orange blue red i can't even remember now the egyptian movement was very different it started from but ago it started slowly it began to gather strength it got more and more social layers of the people involved the working class had come out three days ago or huge strikes by workers the judges were marching on the streets this was a chain when popular up middle east in millions and millions of people all over egypt not just in cairo alexandria was out of control for one thing no one could control it the people controlled it so i think this is a very different uprising from the manufactured ones that we have seen elsewhere in the world in eastern europe in some cases so one can compare it to that what i compared this to is not nine hundred eighty nine i compare this

to the wave of uprisings in eight hundred forty eight which travelled all over europe that is what we are seeing in the arab world now the eight hundred forty eight uprisings. against the all strong garion emperor and the czar of russia and the equivalent of that today is the president of the united states and these uprisings sensually are directed against the people who the united states put in these countries to run but do you think it's possible to establish democracy in egypt and what are the tools that you think will be needed to do that. i think two things need to be done one we need a new constitution in egypt i think the egyptian democrats the gyptian nationalists should say we need a new constitution which to truly limits the power of beyond me to defending the country from outside attack beyond me should have no power in running the country
