time for tonight's tool time award and tonight it goes to the donald that's right donald trump who says that he's considering a run for president next year but an exclusive interview today with good morning america and he spoke about a host of issues i was asked if he believes president obama was actually born here in the u.s. take a listen to his response on a really smart guy i was a really good student at the fish school in the country the reason i have a little doubt just a little because he grew up in nobody knew him when you interviewed people if i ever got the nomination if i ever decide to run you may go back if you people from my kindergarten will remember me nobody ever comes forward nobody knows we use or drill later in his life very strange. so donald trump is
10:33 pm
a burger who knew i was actually joining the group of crazy people who doubt that president obama was born in hawaii that's pretty stunning news coming from trump considering the company that he's choosing to associate himself with here are just a few examples of berger's who've made headlines recently arguing that obama was actually born in kenya not the u.s. . the president obviously all he has to do is just produce a could be original birth certificate in hawaii and be done with it. to your listeners saying about this or they dismiss your own argument as this whole thing could be settled in a minute if the president. could be. persecuted for too far as i know he has not the social security number that was used most commonly by obama was each shoot in this state of connecticut and shows him to be one hundred and nineteen years old. so if donald trump wins the g.o.p.
10:34 pm
nomination next year as he can ask orly taitz to be his v he. i really really hope so now in trump's defense he is just joining the majority of g.o.p. voters a poll last month found that fifty one percent of republican voters believe that obama is not qualified to hold office of president because he was born abroad but we've spoken about this very disturbing back several times here on the show the obama campaign has released a copy of his record of live birth the equivalent of a birth certificate in hawaii we went online today and we found it you can see the document right here which in hawaii is what you need to get a license or a passport that's still not good enough for the burgers and now for donald trump and his donald mentioned in the interview you can talk to his kindergarten classmates and they will remember him and i think we figured out why we found a picture of young donald online and guess what he had that god awful hair even when he was a kid which i think we all know is memorable so we made that picture up but doll
10:35 pm
trump is still tonight's top time winner. there's a strong message coming from wisconsin the g.o.p. may have won this battle but they won't win the war even though the state senate pushed through a bill stripping unions of their collective bargaining rights the protesters have found a way to use state laws to help their cause he was constant as a rule saying that any elected official can be recall from office after they've served a year of their term so protesters have been working on collecting anywhere between fifteen to twenty thousand signatures from the public calling on senators who voted against the unions to be recalled now these are the senators being called out alberta darling randy hopper glen growth men and mary last it all of whom side with the governor against the unions and all they would take is just three of these senators being recalled to give the democrats the majority in the state senate so now the protesters have worked out their game plan what's their strategy for
10:36 pm
getting the signatures well looks like all it all comes down to hard work and taking their message to the media research reports out of wisconsin to show that the budget debate has for television at the lights that you would normally only see around election time to keep in mind the media dollars spent on the entire gubernatorial campaign for walker back in two thousand and ten totaled three point seven million dollars but the broadcasting dollars spent on the budget including efforts to strip unions of their bargaining rights has reached well over three point six million here's the latest attempt to spread the message about the recall governor walker and the republicans just gave over one hundred million dollars in tax cuts to corporations and now they're asking teachers and nurses to pay for it and attacking workers' rights negotiate for fair it's. probably close to speaking or what it could take you to but it's. not.
10:37 pm
just the secretary and this bill that doctors only seem in this point it costs me over three. thousand dollars a year not to mention more down the road let me mr collector part the rates i believe the issues that are being discussed service are not huge too bad a city or state of wisconsin these are national issues bodies being taken away from workers and the tax breaks if there's a gracious this is republican plans for fair any chance i mean this is a fantasy we need to. now this grassroots campaign has pro-union protesters are calling it has expanded and their efforts are being felt all over the country just yesterday people marched through d.c. showing their solidarity for the people of madison so are the democrats and pro union efforts working many out there would say yes even republicans have come forward saying of the wisconsin g.o.p. needs to keep a watchful eye but they're being out organized i'm just because the bill passed
10:38 pm
doesn't mean that this war's over it's clear the people of wisconsin are willing to work talk to constituents and take part by any other means they can to show that they aren't going down without a fight using democracy the way that it should be used by gathering the public to stand behind their cause so the g.o.p. shaking in their boots yet i know if i were them i definitely would be a little bit worried right now. and is there a body out there remember the dodd frank financial reform bill that was passed last year you know the one that tried to instill new regulations on wall street so that we wouldn't have to a repeat of the crash that we're all still suffering from it's the one that many critics said didn't go far enough and reining in the banks but republicans are now getting ready to dismantle it that's right yesterday house republicans very quietly introduced five new bills to take down key portions of the franc bill and they say they're doing it because wall street reform has been detrimental to economic
10:39 pm
recovery aka it's all about jobs let's be honest here is this just because they're in the pocket of the banks joining me from our studio in new york this morning comstock editor of cluster stock at the business insider already thanks so much for joining us tonight now i think it was really only a matter of time until we saw this happen right until we saw the republicans go after another piece of legislation that has defined the obama administration but let's talk about how differently they did it with health care they were so public so vocal so open to want about it they wanted everyone to know and here i feel like they're really just quietly trying to slip these five bills in. well that makes a lot of sense i mean republicans are always getting trashed for being the party that's more in bed with wall street and i think that's a little unfair i think that democrats get just as much money from their wall street friends or you know just donors but it makes a lot of sense to republicans to really quietly share these and knock at the
10:40 pm
negative press they would obviously result from the mainstream finding out that here again. republicans are allowing the types of loose financial regulations that may have. may have caused the financial crisis but please tell me in you know in republicans terms this is all about jobs but can you tell me how this financial reform bill actually was detrimental to the economy i know that we've heard banks screaming a lot about that they've lost some profits but if you look at it at the end of the day they're still seeing record profits just because they lost a little bit of money doesn't mean that they're not making more than the rest of us . exactly and you know there is actually a talk yesterday with sheila bair and a bunch of bankers and they couldn't come up with anything specific any reason any specific reasons why the financial reform bill was so temperamental to everything they just it's an ideology thing i think i think it's just republicans are all about the free market fewer fees and they say that all that this wall streeters say
10:41 pm
and republicans agree with and that all that this bill is doing is increasing fees and making it more expensive for them to operate and they have to cut jobs i want to talk about some of the things that these five bills aimed to dismantle here the derivatives clearing house making credit rating rating agencies liable for faulty ratings they want to exempt private equity fund managers from having to register with as you see they want to eliminate data collection requirements for a publicly traded companies how important were those elements to this dodd frank bill and how or how are those going to create more jobs getting rid of them i mean i would say you see derivatives regulation one was pretty much the most important one of the really important regulations because what that sent directly from the financial crisis people say that derivatives are largely that whether or not they're right they say that derivatives are largely the cause of bubble that was allowed to grow in the housing market and i think i think they're really aiming at
10:42 pm
i mean wall street doesn't want to be enacted and they don't want to have to trade derivatives on the o.t.c. over the counter they don't have to they don't want anybody watching what they're doing. they say that it's just more complicated and it requires more work for them but you know in the end i think i don't know i just i haven't seen any proof and i don't think anybody has of like why it's so hard who they are they could potentially lose a really important part of the oh yeah i don't feel sorry for these banks at all that are saying that perhaps their lives are. more difficult now and i find it so frustrated right because you might set up a financial reform bill for regulations on the banks so they can charge these ridiculous fees right if you over if you over charge from your from your checking account and so now what the banks are doing is saying that because of that they have lost money so now they've enacted five dollar a.t.m.
10:43 pm
fees any time you want to get my head and chances are that yesterday j.p. morgan simon is testing these apparently so it's not definitely going to happen but they're testing five dollars a.t.m. fees outrageous i feel like that means essentially that the little guy can never ever win because they're always just going to come up with another fee where they can hike it up and charge you with what you do not get money from the a.t.m. and i don't know you have to keep all your money under the pillow or something they're really holding us hostage and it's horrible will see with republicans actually get this to go through i've been told that there are some democrats also because like you mentioned the democrats get a lot of money from these banks to that are naturally going to really get to money and much of the hit for that democrats had it just as much record i want to thank you so much for joining us. thank you our so intel is just ahead and is the u.s. government trying to start a propaganda war by using social media reports say the u.s.
10:44 pm
military is going to use facebook to spread progress goes around the world and to catch jihad as it's not really a good idea we'll debate the issue in just a moment. but drives the world the fear mongering used by politicians who makes decisions completely break through it's already been made who can you trust no one who is your interview with the global machinery see where are we heading state controlled capitalism is called sessions when nobody dares to ask what we do our tea question more. lead.

responses. like your voice. so we have breaking news from the united nations the u.n. security council has approved a no fly zone over libya and extra measures to protect civilians we'll give you more on that top of the seven hundred seven o'clock hour with the news. ok it's time for showing to tell on tonight's program last time we told you about p.j. crowley stepping down over comments he made about the treatment of bradley manning and we asked you at home if you thought the crawlies firing that the president obama had taken ownership of manning's treatment all that quantico and here's what some of you had to say and i got to say it was not very kind to the president raj response i grew up learning that a man is innocent until proven guilty but with mr mannix treatment it seems as if he's guilty until he's proven innocent his treatment is that of
10:47 pm
a convicted terrorist shame on the obama administration doug kaiser replies it appears that president obama is trying to get alignment behind him by firing all those who are speaking out against it that's one way to do it mason sky says everyone keeps waiting for the president to speak on the bradley manning face when he's going to speak where is he on this issue i think his silence speaks volumes and jerry marielitos sounded off on facebook saying obama is continuing the worst of bush's policies and even expanding so he hasn't been a leader he's been more like a dictator now as always we appreciate your responses and here's our next question for our viewers earlier in the show we discussed the global impact of a nuclear disaster in japan what effects of any this is disaster in another country for people here in america let us know what you think has globalization made us more vulnerable to chain reaction if this asteroid strikes in japan does it affect us all you can respond to us on facebook twitter and you tube and who knows your response just might make it on the air. now there's some major news taking place
10:48 pm
across the globe today we have the world watching perceive a nuclear catastrophe will take place in japan there's also the search for those still missing in japan following last friday's massive earthquake and tsunami plus for the first time now we know that the u.n. has passed a resolution for a no fly zone over libya but the big story everyone here in the u.s. is talking about drinking and watching t.v. why well that's because it's a patrick's day and the n.c.a.a.'s march madness kicked off today that's right most adults here just want to drink green beer and celebrate irish heritage it doesn't matter if you're irish is just a chance to drink a chance to stand at a crowded bar get plastered and stagger hall or someone else will but this year the drinking is compounded by the n.c.a.a. tournament a tournament kicking off a sixty eight teams began a battle to find out who is the best this year and this is the first year that the
10:49 pm
n.c.a.a. has made every game available for its broadcast in its entirety so you can watch the games on t.v. online on i phones on i pads and in all the office brackets and office pools and you have a recipe for americans being very very distracted at work today according to office max has twenty eleven hoops at work survey about half of working adults check game scores online at least once a day at work or the outplacement consulting firm challenger gray and christmas saying there's the march madness will cost companies nationwide about eight point four million hours of lost productivity out of a lot of basketball watching so while the world deals with conflict death nuclear fears here in the u.s. well we're only worried about getting drunk finding our way home safely and cheering for a team that we picked in the office pool but probably have no idea where their school is actually locate it. now all the majority of us use social networking sites as a way to stay in touch with friends and family look at pictures of ex boyfriends
10:50 pm
and girlfriends or try to get a look into the personal lives of our coworkers or our crushes the internet is of course also a place for joe hardest to make connections to build networks to spread propaganda maybe even plan sinister terror plots and the u.s. military wants it this month we learned that u.s. central command has contracted a company in california to develop anonymity software that will allow it to secretly news fake online personas to influence internet conversations and spread pro-american propaganda it's been described as an online persona management service that's going to allow one u.s. serviceman or servicewoman to control up to ten separate identities based all over the world and due to legal obstacles it's only supposed to be used on u.s. citizens but how can we be so sure joining me to discuss it is lieutenant colonel anthony shaffer senior fellow at the center for advanced defense studies and is also still serving as a reserve lieutenant colonel tony thanks so much for joining us tonight before we
10:51 pm
get into this story since we just had breaking news i want to ask you about the fact that the u.n. security council just passed a resolution for a no fly zone and perhaps even more over libya what do you make of that well frankly it's a daily bill sure but madam is no one back could be. existing government was colonel gadhafi so the problem is this the international community. to try to get things together and it may be too late to be able to move. i guess we'll have to see what happens of course a lot of people are saying that this is going to mean military intervention this is going to mean war and that's not what america needs that's not what the rest of the world needs right now now i want to switch to centcom and hear what they're trying to do in terms of social networking in terms of catching jihadists and spreading american propaganda online i feel like they're a little bit late in the game here right and they've been doing this years ago well
10:52 pm
let me answer that you parts first of all the basic thing that i was well known for able danger look at social networks before social networks existed as a real purpose or we called was the six degrees of kevin bacon basically you know someone who knows someone who knows a woman that's what we've seen here within the context of unstructured organizations what happens is people tend to so organized and networks that we've been looking at we accept you know skype we're talking about right now facebook are always people communicate when you're not working and it is a structured organization and they or they were going to control within that network that's how i know this isn't supposed to be used against american citizens that that's. our military our government isn't supposed to use propaganda or these like psychological operations against its own people but well we just found out from michael hastings at rolling stone that apparently that was happening over in
10:53 pm
afghanistan how can we be so sure that it won't happen here. i actually get on the hill meeting with congressional staff on this issue let me say this and it was with the congressional staff i talked to at a lot of interest in what actually happened moments and yes there are specific laws and regulations which prohibit us as a military or intelligence community doing things to manipulate u.s. citizens and it's done for good reason you know any u.s. citizen has rights and to have an intelligence officer suv you talk you without you know what i don't know your intelligence officers illegal unless there is cause or unless there's a belief that someone is involved terrorism and well then we can get legal activity or is working on intelligence services if those three criteria are not met there really is no reason legally for us or anyone to be basically telling someone something or working in iraq with someone online without a clear reason to do so let's say that this sound is
10:54 pm
a whistle blower and says if they have some information that might look embarrassing for the u.s. government does that mean they're going to go in and find them. well technically no but the thing is there's a there's a lack i think of oversight because there there's a real effort to. silence was it what was the state by the current administration and it's been very clear that criticism is not welcome and this is one of those things that you and i spoke about the for. it we are it is a hugely important to have critical review of things which go wrong so the mistakes are not made again that's why was it words are important now what will will the government go after them absolutely there's a record of them but it's not technically legal for them to do so. that doesn't really make me feel so much better because technically just because something is illegal doesn't mean that the government isn't going to do it like you and i were just thread asking do you think also i mean this is this is now public knowledge right we don't know too many details about the program and we know that they're
10:55 pm
going after it had this encourage other governments to make this to do the same thing with this anonymity software perhaps even companies out there. well i frankly there are other governments further out there who would be israelis for example have been doing this sort of thing regarding the iranians for a while one of the things we've noted in our research is that the rain the radiance are learning by the israelis trying to do something to their infrastructure so it's kind of us tyrus aspire right now so a lot of countries already are already doing this with that said i disagree with the guardian used the guardian article today to do so my research and you guys were talking about the guardian article a particular i disagree that this is a propaganda tool i just don't think the u.s. government frankly has an ability to message to actually put out a good information which would shift the thinking of of foreign individuals groups or governments so i really believe based on everything i've read that it this is more about trying to understand what's going on within those those communities
10:56 pm
where than trying to put forward propaganda i think we're just blind right now senator dianne feinstein has a better grasp on. interrupt average occurred at record national intelligence there is hearing that is recently where she basically going to talk and her understanding of a sport we know is being used for social networking or for radical groups and groups trying now to secure freedom so both sides are using oh i guess that's that's just embarrassing now isn't it tony i want to thank you very much for joining us and giving us some insight on this thanks so back here now ok we just had a serious discussion of how this might look as government's new program but we decided to have a little bit of fun with it today of the ilana show and think of what might go wrong take a look. i
