all. the. a finnish pastor falls out of favor with his church and his government for lashing out at a terrorist website hosted by finland. also this hour the world's emerging superpower has pledged their commitment to a new global economy and called on the nato led coalition to abide by the un resolution on the. president the need for medvedev says they view rand has some explaining to do about how its resolutions on libya and ivory coast are being implemented as are so that all the latest on the brics summit in china interest of the baltics. and the us is accused of manipulating regime change in the arab world
12:01 pm
through cyber warfare all under the guise of a democratic revolution. internationally used live from our studios here in central moscow this is. a pastor in finland is being defrauded by his church for speaking out against a terrorist website hosted in the country you have views of already seen them accused of inciting racial hatred in helsinki well for more on this i'm now joined live from the finnish capital by correspondent and the so know. what exactly has mr murray done to deserve being defrocked in his own country. called. it the month when the girl you speak just spoke to me you would think you would be
12:02 pm
upset in front. of the church where he works been separated from its family all right he says it's psychological terrorism against him and he's not upset because he's so used to it it's been going to this for years and basically to answer your question is because he speaks out very openly about a website which states. here in the center of helsinki called center and it's openly no one. really russia's most wanted man a very well known terrorist u.n.'s declared has links to al qaeda he himself declared that this is his web site so the world this is his propaganda mouthpiece nevertheless you can all agree has been defrocked basically for inciting racial hatred that is the official case against him and he won't be able to practice he won't be able to eat he's also received no sound grants until the cases against him come to some kind of conclusion right now there are several bible cases against him
12:03 pm
but the most well known cases the case of inciting racial hatred against what most of the world considers well known terrorists when i interviewed him last week live here on r t and he was very concerned about being the frog so what's he planning to do now those happened i mean how is he going to defend himself against the accusations what he's saying about that is one of the first questions i asked and this reply was very very simple now i have more time so you do more research on the site and to spread awareness about how it is a terrorist site how it's openly being allowed to run and when because like i said hugh grant has a clear goal of terrorism has links to al qaida technically by international law and house to freeze all of his assets including any kind of information source to the world so essentially fiddlin is breaking international law interesting enough the website at the center of all this kind of censor the editor about his being he's facing troil tomorrow in finland so all of these cases then connected
12:04 pm
especially are technically not because the case is a case like legal immigration he is being accused of bringing up to one hundred legal immigrants. but he himself impressed. doesn't exist in spanish press has admitted that some of these immigrants were what he calls freedom fighters many critics believe that he was talking about terrorists will be interesting to see what happens it's not a terrorism case it's an illegal immigration case it's taken quite seriously and you could see telegraph certainly people like yourself and many of the critics of this website are hoping you will be. well thanks indeed for that update on this developing story in finland and the joining us live from the finnish capital helsinki. libyan state t.v. reports eight nato strikes on the capital tripoli have led to numerous injuries among civilians one of the coalition bombs hit the residence of colonel gadhafi
12:05 pm
meanwhile nature officials have announced plans to continue the operation until libyan forces stop attacking civilians and retreat one of the various meeting in berlin members of the alliance discussed what contribution we state needs to make six out of the twenty eight involved conducting air strikes if you can in france have been corning's other countries to increase military pressure on gadhafi and now let's cross to london to talk more on the situation in libya and nato his role there with the u.k. m.p. barry gardner thanks so much for joining us live here on r.t. good to have you with us now understand that you welcomed the u.n. resolution but you are actually against ukraine both went in libya's conflict many will see this is a contradiction so you can explain your reasoning behind your thoughts here. yes of course i felt it was right that there should be a resolution for humanitarian protection to stop the initial strike that gadhafi was going to make on benghazi because i felt that many many civilians would be
12:06 pm
killed in that but i don't believe it's right that britain or indeed any other powers should be intervening in what is in fact a civil war and unfortunately the terms of the resolution were far too wide and they had permitted britain and france and the other nato forces to get involved in part has now been very evidently made clear is the civil war would you like to see britain. not withdrawing from this campaign but taking more of a back seat in the way we've seen other allies within the alliance the nato alliance taking part in this because after all britain france are complaining of not being supported very much by the others. will look there are two aspects to this i don't believe that what is now going on is justified indeed at the beginning it was made very clear by david cameron and others that this could not be about regime change this was about humanitarian protection well that is clearly no longer
12:07 pm
the case and this that is clear you no longer the case then britain should not be involved it's as simple as that now if there is a case where the libyan military are about to bomb or in other ways attack innocent civilians then of course that is something where the world must take notice and must take measures to protect this really would say that's exactly internal clock we have what you say that's not what we have but reports suggest otherwise don't even it indeed today the libyan rebels are saying please help us we need more action from nato. and look the fact that the rebels the rebel forces are are part of a civil war. and that is the very day. different matter when you have even though they are a fairly ragtag force they are number the less an army that is constituted itself as part of a force that is in a civil dispute civil war with the gadhafi government that is not something
12:08 pm
that britain should be coming in there and then gone mean other parts of libya in the western part of libya. in order to help them win what is a civil war the original intention here the original reason that was given for britain being told was simply to stop those airstrikes on benghazi and indeed regionally this was marketed to the public and to the world at large as being simply the enforcement of a no fly zone that is not what is now happening and indeed it isn't what's been happening really from that first week on is another agenda though behind britain's involvement here you were talking earlier about its role there being involved in a humanitarian basis but why is britain one of the leading players in all of this along with france are of course the u.s. . well. you are trying to lead me to the three letters that spell the word or
12:09 pm
a line quite sure. and it is clear that there are many other parts of the world where such acts by a government against its people would not of prompted britain forgettable there are commercial interests here and it would seem that that is certainly part of the justification i i don't think it's sensible for britain to be involved in this part of the world the history of british football in this part of the world is is one that has not been to the benefit of british people when we've taken arms and getting caught and put bear in mind britain is now involved you can't undo what's been done what will you be calling on the coalition government the british government to do next after all people are saying there's a stalemate here the un resolution isn't working should perhaps the u.n. resolution be looked at again and allow ground troops in to end this whole dispute in conflict i mean what will you know only suggesting to the british government. no
12:10 pm
absolutely not it should not be allowed ground troops in and actually i would i would correct you there the existing resolution does allow ground troops what it does not allow for is an occupation force so in fact ground troops are allowed by the resolution that exists and that is part of the problem with this resolution it was far too wide and it gave thought too much latitude in the first place but i do think that the un security council does need to meet again i think it does need to review the situation and i think with all parties involvement and that really does include russia we need to reach an agreement about what should happen from here on in. he is not a popular leader of his country he hasn't been for many years both with his neighbors in the middle east and more widely he's not you know his his record is one that is horrendous in terms of dictatorship and abuse of human rights. that is not under international law a reason for regime change and we must be very careful about how the united nations
12:11 pm
proceeds in a situation like this i do think we need to sit down again at the security council and determine what is legitimate going forward but that cannot be to take one side in a civil war ask you because as i mentioned earlier doesn't appear to be that united britain is perhaps in danger of alienating itself after all we've seen today that the brics countries have expressed their unease over the involvement here the military intervention so what does that do for britain's international standing but after all david cameron was saying earlier that this is where britain can show its strength its force its presence as a military force but actually could it have a detrimental effect to the british nation his reputation but i think it already has and i think that's clear. i think that david cameron thought this was going to be an easy war for him to strut around on the world stage and show his message to leaders and i think what he's learned over the past few weeks is that war is never
12:12 pm
a simple matter it's extremely difficult to predict what is going to happen on the ground and actually what might politically seem to see one week can very soon turn round and. it's very interesting to hear what you have to say we really appreciate your time joining us live there in london thank you u.k.i.p. for the labor party barry gardner joining us here on r.t. a pleasure. shakeup of the global monetary system is what the world's fastest growing economies of called for at their annual meeting i'd like just mention that group brazil russia india china and south africa it's the so-called brics nations also slammed laitos operation in conflict on libya well arty's to syria is that the chinese resort of sandia where the summit is taking place. they really want to see change in the international financial model existing right now that will benefit developing countries more powerful will reserve currency is one of the issues they would like to see an alternative because the u.s. economy is certainly hurting their economies as well another issue that they are
12:13 pm
really worried about is fluctuation of commodity prices now this is very important for them because the prices of basic foods the price of raw materials for oil are all a staple price and all of those are necessary to make sure that their economies have sustainable growth now they feel that from their point of view they feel that western economies the weak economies there are the a crawls of all these fluctuations and therefore they think they should have a greater say in international financial institutions such as the i.m.f. and the world now then coming together a really unified voice and they are quick to insist that it's not so much to displace existing organizations but rather to come together to have a stronger voice representing these the fellow concious and to bring what their ideas on to the international stage. bring gaijin after a multi-party institutional. supremacy over areas of an. organized against any country would in fact work for corporations and governance
12:14 pm
mechanisms and i'm going to mention. crisis in libya has been on the table it has been a priority of the talks that they have had a russian president dmitry medvedev certainly putting up songbirds they are saying that. you see he feels that there is a dangerous tendency with us going beyond what their resolution is mandate for us listen to what he has to say obvious to. the u.n. resolution must be filled with the russian federation of south africa again and stayed with him in speeches filled in accordance with the wording and meaning which free interpretations of some states because we say she's for a no fly zone just stop the escalation of the conflict so that we can separate the . to science but what we having now is a military operation it may not be on the ground yet but it's certainly going on up above a number of countries are taking part and then nato steps in but the resolution doesn't say a word about it that's why when i hear the resolution is bad i disagree the
12:15 pm
resolution is absolutely fine but it must be fulfilled without exceeding the mandate it's greystone interesting really about this is an economic war but the situation how they did it make it. that way for which they had five they insist saddam or variable say now coincidentally all five countries are members of the rest security council india brazil definitely pushing for permanent seats idea evidence that they want to have more cooperation and coordination on the political arena as well as an affiliate reporting that is the quest for reforms continues in the arab world the u.s. is increasing its influence over anti-government activists in the region america is conducting a cyber war in a bid to direct the spread of the pro-democracy movement result he's going to check our reports these intentions could easily backfire. the u.s. is providing high tech help with innovations for anti-government activists in
12:16 pm
a number of countries throughout the world one of the latest developments is the panic button according to the state department the application can be op loaded on activists cell phone should they be detained the software instantly raises the contact between their phones and sends a warning alert signal to other activities sounds great. and it's all gone probably mungo's thanking the u.s. government for the quick knowledge you are going to be drug dealers and terrorists but american officials of course claim the best of intentions saying the innovation is to protect code democracy forces in other countries to help use the technologies more effectively the u.s. has organized training sessions for thousands of activists the one held views weeks ago in the middle east including anti-government campion's from. egypt syria and lebanon and as the newly trained and equipped activists return home the u.s.
12:17 pm
as one state department official put it counts on the ripple effect for any interference doesn't have to be a military invasion a bombing campaign or you know some kind of special operation on the ground in that country it can also be the training and funding and this political support given to individuals who then promote those foreign interests and that's one of the newer strategies that the u.s. government has successfully been executing in different countries around the world that it doesn't consider subordinate to their agenda and it's a way to do it subtly it's it's harder to detect it it's harder to denounce it and it can often be more effective the u.s. perceives the er knapp and social networking platforms as media tools for spreading democracy and millions of dollars into developing systems to help pull in the middle east and china get around internet blocking far walls but at the same time american companies provide. bahrain saudi arabia and kuwait with the technology to effectively block websites when the us government purports to be used for any
12:18 pm
democracy it's simply a sham it's a pretense it's a lie the goal of u.s. foreign policy is to put its people in public office and in foreign countries the u.s. military has recently launched an online management program which enables it to generate multiple fake identities on social networks the false personas are designed to contribute to the flow of conversations on facebook twitter and other websites people are using social media for cyber warfare i mean that's what we're going to see more and more and more of a thing from from whether it's governments or non-state actors they're going to try to find ways to use the internet and social media to gain an advantage in their own battle in the recent turmoil in libya it's just orchestration of twitter with fake users only around five percent of libyans have access to the internet and the number of twitter users there is so small that analysts couldn't even calculate it
12:19 pm
yet in february this year a surge of libyan twitter accounts appeared reporting in english and virtually all begging for intervention we know that. since the beginning of the war that's libyan still don't get access to it but. people go check this essential fact they take all this coverage here at face value which is the role purpose pretty good you trained activists provided with panic buttons and other technology scores of foresight and it is on the air and spreading certain ideas the u.s. says it's all about promoting democracy but do these the clarity in tankers justify direct interference in other countries domestic affairs i'm going to check our reporting from washington our team. c.c.t.v.
12:20 pm
footage of the suspected terrorist responsible for monday's bombing of the bone a russian metro has been released but footage shows a man enter the metro and leave a large bag on the platform before leaving the scene for his inability to say five suspects have been arrested over the attack on the metro so far the explosion rocked the central station during russia killing twelve people and injuring nearly two hundred it was the first fatal terror attack in the country's modern history. in russia many parents with sick children come face to face with the grim reality that they can't do anything to help them kids with illnesses in the country have little if no access to life saving treatment and funding but as has been finding out hope is the last one to die when it comes to these families. they're both the same age they only went one country and they have the same debilitating condition the only difference between them is that one was born in the capital and another one lives in a small town and it's this zip code lottery so ready to find who have their relief
12:21 pm
and who will die next moment some others ask me if it's all worth it it's old is expensive treatment and the nurse told me look he's ten he's unable to talk and still wears diapers what's the point of spending so much of his treatment but i love him regardless of whether he was diapers or not i just love you anyway yes this sort of questions is pursuing mothers of children with the huntress and from all the time not only because these genetic condition is impossible to cure but even more so because treating it is pretty huge beautiful expensive so expensive that for many years these children didn't stand a chance of living to middle age that is until sneeze john and moderates like her forced mosco third to pay for treatments that the russian constitution doesn't say that if the treatment is expensive and it shouldn't be provided or that if her child was unfortunate to be born in a small town you should be abandoned to allow nature to take its course. yes this
12:22 pm
is exactly what's happening with the two hundred fifty children contra syndrome in russia less than a half are receiving lifesaving drugs forty year old followed it is not one of them the build up of toxins that he's body's unable to recycle has left him unable to walk and talk the last few months he's been rapidly losing the side hearing a lot his treatment is estimated to cost more than eight hundred thousand dollars that's an exorbitant amount that could also say dozens of hundreds of people with less kid conditions that's the bell this money will only i'm a not believe to see the next summer the saddest thing of all is that a part. nobody seems to care about that even my husband left her when he learned of their son's disability the local authorities refused to help citing the lack of money but he lives thankful for small mercies bodies still alive because hope.
12:23 pm
i'm happy just to wake up and see him breathing sometimes he smiles and it's the greatest gift for me i know the treatment is expensive and i know this money could help me and the children but he didn't choose his conditions and he also deserves to live the russian president recent this adjusted of a hunter syndrome be added to the list of illnesses treated exclusively a big sponsor of the federal budget and one of many in the medical community say is long over due because i believe any such as to the us there are between six thousand and eight thousand. and the treatment for many of them is to you either nonexistent or too expensive of the rarity of the owners definitely shouldn't be a criteria for providing medical assistance to these kids and so much pain and then entitle to treatment just like children with if we are chicken pox bursting bubbles is something that these mothers have along with used to but they give birth to their children they all dreamt of them becoming someone great and it was only after
12:24 pm
the killing diagnosis they realized their children for just that break some point arts in moscow. well a little later here analogy we take a look at the u.s. deficits and one nobel prize winning economist says the situation is critical and needs to be addressed as soon as possible and that's coming up we listen to that minutes from now in the meantime green is here with the latest business update increase has there been any reaction from the russian government regarding not dispute surrounding b.p. well it has mostly been silence however russia's energy minister today said he believes it will not put off investors coming to russia now b.p. has confirmed for the first time that together with ross they have offered cash and arctic up opportunities to the russian shareholders and take a b.p. wants to buy those partners out so it can proceed with a sixteen billion dollars share swap and actually exploration deal with ross in january meanwhile b.p. is annual general meeting is taking place in london and the protests from
12:25 pm
shareholders and environmentalist are slower after parts. this is a deeply uncomfortable day for b.p.'s executives as they face their shareholders essentially for the first time since this analysts who really list started for them it still say it's very much at this time last year with the gulf of mexico oil spill and then it has been and by this debacle over the steel gets great deal we have seen demonstrations outside the a.g.m. which includes gulf coast fisherman saying that their livelihoods communities are being destroyed by the oil spill we've also seen eight pretenses dragged out full simply about me saying the words from said hold is that b.p. has got to salvage something from this ross now deal if it hopes to move forward and then stay the oil majors but it has been for the last foreseeable parts we have seen an extension to the share swap deadlines they've got the big thing it gives. b.p. and b.p.
12:26 pm
another month to sort out how they're going to perform this assess what deal there is optimism that a compromise can be found particularly because that's the time the most likely possibility look that b.p. will buy out the russian shareholders a. that seems to be the most likely compromise but b.p. doesn't really have any money so it will have to be quite a good price that's reached another possibility that the wall street journal has been reporting is that b.p. would in fact. altie and k b p again though it would lose a substantial revenue stream this is a saying that bob dudley knew all along about a deal with rosneft would lead to confrontation with. the russian consortium itself holds it in c. and k p p holders will presumably be hoping that he's got some kind of solution up his sleeve that he has known about all along essentially. well the russian government has mostly been silent on the disputes revolving around the team but energy minister sergei should not go says no matter how it all ends he does not
12:27 pm
believe it will put investors coming to. the russian investment climate including foreign investment interviewing sector significantly affected by the discussion between change the p.-p. p.-p. and. investment climate is no sense to economic conditions in st policy and you know the state is not involved in that conflict and that's why i don't think the situation will affect the investment climate you must look for when you can with she's pretty your stocks are falling on hard an expected claims for unemployment benefits without drones is down half a percent of the nasdaq is starting point six percent bank of america and other financial stocks are under selling pressure with goldman sachs dropping two point seven percent and tameka has grown recorded a seventy one percent drop in profits european stocks it's lower on thursday here are the closing figures for the footsie and the dax investors were also concerned about the region's rising sovereign debt crisis banking sector was the biggest drag
12:28 pm
after spanish leather banking terek ordered a twenty six percent decline in net profits in the first quarter and other market concerns as j.p. morgan's first quarter results which were not as positive as first thoughts and his last go where stocks ended lower echoing negative sentiment across global exchanges the r.c.s. closed over one point six percent in the red evan isaacs and one and a half percent lower here are some of the market movers on the rise six and if you majors were among the main losers gazprom dropped over to help the signs rawson have shed almost three percent this bear bank bucked the trend ending almost a quarter of a percent higher. and that's your business update for now but i'll be back with more less i want to stay with us for headline you start next.
