of the questions that we host on you tube every monday and on thursday to show your responses. you. are it's time for tonight's tool time reward answer night it goes to president bush's former chief of staff andrew card you know a lot of been said by the bush crowd over the killing of osama bin laden they've been quoted saying that the obama administration hasn't been giving them enough credit for their part in waters death but the death of osama was also a vindication of policies set up under bush. torture but now card is having a problem with how obama's acting in the aftermath of killing america's most wanted terrorist in an interview with a german newspaper card have the following to say he said i think he has pounded his chest a little too much and he went on to say he can take pride in it but he does not need to show it so much are you serious right now it sounds like andrew card is
10:33 pm
a little jealous if you ask me the bush administration had seven years. but they couldn't get the job done obama did it in two and a half but what's really sad about cards comments is on his record complaining about obama's chest pounding sure obama went to ground zero he met privately with some of the navy seals that took part in the raid i should say that's pretty normal not exactly what i would call chest pounding and in fact i'm pretty sure that of bush we're still president we'd be seeing a whole lot more of it let's go back to may of two thousand and three then president bush card's boss was going to address the nation about the war in iraq and in the p.r. stunts of the decade the commander in chief and flew into fighter jets to meet the u.s.s. abraham lincoln in the pacific ocean there is no need for the jet landing marine one the president's helicopter could have landed on the aircraft carrier just fine but hey that would be much of a show now would it so when the president addressed the nation later that day
10:34 pm
a big banner behind him read mission accomplished and during a speech bush made it seem like the war in iraq was over. offers a version of the u.s.s. abraham lincoln. my fellow americans. major combat operations in iraq have ended in the battle of iraq the united states and around. half prevailed. now as we all know that was not the end of the war in iraq in fact that war is still going on today the u.s. didn't begin pulling forces out of iraq into last fall when they said that major combat operations were finally over but even still we have about fifty thousand troops left there some seven years after bush declared mission accomplished so maybe andrew card keep his mouth shut when it comes to talking about chest pounding and that's why he's tonight's bull's-eye minor. and now we told you many times on
10:35 pm
this program about the increased use of g.p.s. devices to track and surveil american citizens now there is one environmental activist who stepped forward to wired magazine after she found a g.p.s. which had been placed under her car courtesy of the feds according to wired dot com this method is becoming a very common way for feds to track anyone they deem suspicious or potential threat to our country depending on if you actually consider environmental activists of threat but whatever i'll move on now are now part of the reason this method is becoming so popular is because it's really simple to carry out when it comes to surveillance not only does it save law enforcement from using extra manpower to track these suspicious persons but it's also a great money saver for them to. all the feds have to do is install their g.p.s. device under a suspicious persons vehicle usually with industrial strength magnets and the device is going to communicate through satellites with the feds headquarters where they can keep tabs on your every move and in fact why are you called on kyle wiens
10:36 pm
to do some reverse engineering and take apart a tracker that was handed over to wired in hopes of raising awareness check out how these devices work and this blue wire inside that was connected to this p.c.b. . is the connection for the g.p.s. receivers what we got here is this is the transmission circuitry for telling the f.b.i. where you're at and this is the circuitry for figuring out where you are so it's a very expensive assembly that you wouldn't see in a consumer product and very interesting and this thing is pretty large and designed clearly to. get the best signal possible as you go under a bridge or something everything inside this you know is what are tight as you'd expect if you're mounting something that's going to sit underneath a car for months at a time. all right said out we have a better understanding of the technology let's discuss the legality of g.p.s. tracking although there are several instances where those targeted have taken their
10:37 pm
case to court it's always been decided in district courts leading to different rulings in different states and therefore no national yes or no on the legality of the practice however a lot of people out there are speculating that these g.p.s. devices will become the center of major privacy and will most likely land before the supreme court before you know it and in fact the obama administration is hoping to overturn a ruling by the lower courts which states that law enforcement officials have to obtain a warrant before putting one of those huge pipe bomb looking trackers on your car so let's just hope that the supreme court isn't going to side of the president on this one up until now a majority of those being tracked with these devices are being targeted for being activists in one specific case simply because the victim was muslim that was the case of yasser fifi who we interviewed here on this show and we should also note that as of now there are no requirements by law enforcement to share their data or their statistics about how often these devices are being used and under what conditions the g.p.s. devices should be placed on parts so in other words there is no regulation
10:38 pm
whatsoever here not to mention many don't know if the data collected is accurate enough to even be used successfully in court cases so until the feds get their agenda straight these g.p.s. devices should become the go to technology to keep tabs on anyone deemed suspicious so hey f.b.i. how about doing this the proper legal way get a warrant investigate ethically and leave all these unnecessary spying features out of it. the protesters are wrapping up a forty march in mexico city with one simple message enough bloodshed thousands of people gathered in mexico city's main square over the weekend to demand a drug gang violence that has engulfed the country and since mexican president felipe calderon said office in december of two thousand and six nearly forty thousand people have died in organized crime and the protesters largely remain silent. letting t. shirts and signs send a message no more blood and no more violence and marchers also called on president calderon and the country's other politicians to end their strategy against drug
10:39 pm
gangs calderon launched his war on drug cartels when he took office and a year since the us has given billions to aid this fight even done a little bit of training of mexico's forces but despite the deployment of thousands of security forces to drug hotspots across mexico the level of violence hasn't decreased in fact it's like in most areas but consider this massive drug war is going on right across our border why don't we hear more about it from the obama administration here this past this with me is my creates a socio editor at reason magazine mike thanks so much for joining us and i think you. like i said right this is all happening right across our border forty thousand people dying this is a massive violent drug war that the u.s. government is even issued warnings lately to u.s. citizens that we could be targets there abroad travel warnings but have they even given a reaction to the protests of thousands of people so far i think if they can avoid doing so they will i mean they waited a long time to comment on some of the arab spring uprisings but really this is like
10:40 pm
pre-surgery iraq for the obama administration i mean leading up to the surge in iraq i mean it was just a disaster for bush they didn't want to talk about huge numbers it's the same thing for the obama administration right now this is as bad as i make it worse it is really terrible but what is their reaction also supposed to be like if we look at some of the history perhaps between president obama and calderon we know that president obama had to take back a remark made by secretary of state hillary clinton when he compared mexico to colombia we know that the u.s. ambassador to mexico had to step down also because in wiki leaks disclosures it turns out that he criticized calderon spying so are we too scared to say anything i mean maybe i just think that any indictment from the federal government on this prosecuting this drug war would also mean a tightening of our involvement i mean like you said we've given billions. the da is very active there we also have their training certain parts of mexico's police force not to mention that we organize all this very very beginning i mean prior to
10:41 pm
calderon coming in but as president he had a much more soft candid approach to this and then in the mid two thousand we had the merit approach which was let's step up interdiction let's stop raids let's stop penalties and as a result we got thrown out of libya the da is not even allowed in to believe you know because of the way that american advisors of top government agencies on the ground prosecute this which is with heavy heavy violence but having violence and of course we can remember too that right now the u.s. government is in fact asking for them to allow more troops that are fine in iraq and afghanistan because they have the special skills to go in and train mexican police forces we know this happened in the past and they also train mexican military and a lot of those guys are now part of that as you know one of the most violent cartels why can't we figure out a way to do this without violence without training you know i feel like this happens to us so often just like we sell weapons to people that end up being our enemies down the line i was there is ironic actually the weapons being used by the
10:42 pm
cartels are american and the weapons being used by the police but we are we are there are some strategies i think that. is the drugs are headed off the national drug control policy they take the policy approach the da takes the more enforcement approach and i know the kerlikowske has done some business mexico where he said they're trying to build up these things called drug courts where if you are a violent offender if you are captured by mexican police or mexican military you can run the risk of being executed while you're incarcerated you can run the risk of. any other kinds of form of weird punishment if you go to the drug court you're much more likely to maybe get a slap on the wrist to have to go to detox neither of one of these are a real response to the problem which is that mexico is still both manufacturing and acting as a sort of superhighway for drugs in the united states so there are going to be bigger bigger policy responses to this. well let's talk about some of the policy responses. in regards to what america can do right you could say that our consumption is exactly what fuels these cartels and when it comes to the drugs when
10:43 pm
it comes to the black market that's created but is it really that simple a fix if we did let's say legalize marijuana what it all go away. that's hard to say i mean people made that argument in the lead up to for example prop nineteen in california which is a push to legalize marijuana but the you know the federal government responded that . marijuana is the majority of what they move they're also cartels that are manufacturing meth and greater quantities that you see anywhere else in the country move and also it's important to mexico isn't just making it they're also a super highway for south american car tells to push cocaine into the united states so i don't think legalizing marijuana would would fix everything i mean obviously there's sort of like a logical conclusion of just legalize marijuana is legalize everything and that's also not super politically feasible although if america took the first steps in that it would be a lot easier for central america to follow i mean there are a lot of central american economies in south america comedies that rely on coca production which is where we get cocaine from and have only cut back on that
10:44 pm
regularly in response to american pressure so obviously if americans if the american government released relieve this pressure a little bit it would make it easier for central american countries to respond something more suited to their cultures and their political environments how do you think about a better approach though than doing anything within mexico itself because if you look at it even hiding on military officials recently it was said that central america essentially was the danger most dangerous non-war zone on the planet or the deadliest non war zone in the world and yet we're spending it trillions of dollars on wars that are being fought in the middle east you know in iraq and afghanistan and places that aren't right across our border like i said actually i mean it's a five minute walk from el paso the safest city in the united states to our it is one of the most dangerous places in the world i don't actually think we can just walk away now at this point i mean. if you if you believe that the united states should have some presence in iraq and afghanistan due to the damage we inflict to pair with problems with the occupation with destroying preexisting governments then
10:45 pm
you also have to believe that we have some responsibility to the mexican people after destroying their government i mean due to the presence of american money in mexico their political system is on the verge of collapse and there are despite what calderon may say they're on the verge of being a failed state and a lot of rural city's police forces are losing the military losing sometimes the police and military are fighting each other sometimes the border guards are fighting the police so there's definitely some responsibility there i'm not sure it's a responsibility we have to carry out a complete oh it's definitely going to be more dangerous situation and needs more time and i think that i thank you so much for being here and i thank you. now still to come tonight we'll have our monday edition of show and tell and then stick around for the happy hour on a good night we'll tell you why hillary clinton was both shelf photoshop out of a newspaper and donald trump fights back against allegations that he is a racist hard to preserve any church and migrates to figure out for that rock.
10:46 pm
we in the far right. we haven't got the. safe get ready because the freedom. hi guys welcome michel ancel on the obama show we've heard our guests talk to say on the topic now i want to hear audio has gotten you seem to video this on our twitter first part of the questions again post on you tube every monday and on thursday the show long response is please.

art of time for showing talents and i program last time you wanted your opinion on obama's chances in the twenty twelve reelection between a recent we go p. primary debates and obama's at work in taking down osama bin laden is he unbeatable next time that americans go to the polls let's go to producer patrice in a plenty for more. since the death of osama bin laden the obama administration has been doing their best to ride that wave of success but can that wave reach all the way to reelection and are there any republican candidates out there able to create that wave of their own bottom line is he a shoe in for two thousand and twelve lloyd watson told us on facebook yes he is america is incredibly lucky to have obama as president in modern and sorry commented i have to admit that obama is on beatable after a catch like a lot in alex agrees but with
10:49 pm
a simple catch he said. terms of foreign policy obama scored high with the knot in south and then he goes on to add if the u.s. economy doesn't sink six months before election day then definitely yes as that week showing a republican candidate's roque said on you tube the republicans aren't bothering to field anyone to compete with him because they already have their man in the white house but while some of you on the left may agree with that i don't think any republicans would agree and it is still early in the game for a formidable republican candidate to emerge my take after the death of bin laden the president's approval ratings were the highest since zero nine but remember george h.w. he was at ninety percent after the gulf war and he still lost and then let's not forget about the latest unemployment numbers at the end of last week they were back up to nine point zero percent so which way do you think will impact the voters more is it the way the success of bin laden's death or
10:50 pm
a nine point zero percent wave of unemployment i hear from now people may be saying been who and instead ask who has been taking our jobs. as always we appreciate your responses and now it's time for our next question we just told you that thousands of people in mexico been protesting the drug violence in their country and president calderon's policies but many would argue the u.s. drug policies and our resulting black markets help fuel the cartels so we want to know what you think the u.s. drug policies help or hurt the drug war in mexico you can respond to us on facebook twitter and you tube and who knows your response just might make on air. all right it's time for our monday edition of happy hour and joining me tonight is artie producer jenny churchill and mike riggs associate editor at reason magazine.
10:51 pm
so on friday and we had a little fun on a happy hour because of course there are going to be some songs that came out already about killing really like a club you know i'm just really dreading that little girls might actually be dancing too but apparently there's something much bigger going on in the world at least for those people who are gamers so went on counter strike has created a level with osama bin laden's compound have you taken a look in this room re-issues looking at screen shots all day and sort of missing my days and. on the internet cafes playing counter-strike i have a feeling though i think this game is sort of on the way to the american gamers but i know it's still huge in eastern europe and parts of central asia but it's like that's it you've made it when some kind of street person makes a man up. he almost made it sound as we're you know we have a video of it we have a video of it let's let's throw that really quick.
10:52 pm
you know where is the video of osama watching himself on t v when they run in or something also void especially just two teams using a map i don't know i mean it quickly loses its original inspiration in those maps but it's still it's like a great way to. further this map is actually pretty weak and the only similarity that it has to been laden's compound is the location. and i'm actually glad because as you know i personally don't like when we take real life and put it into a game where you're killing people it's just not i know i'm going to get all kinds of mail about this is not something that is something i can any scenario one thing that i thought was interesting that you mention is that that means you've made it and one thing that we definitely have seen in the fall out from bin laden's death is that seal team six has absolutely made it and have you guys been looking at some
10:53 pm
of the headlines in the media lately it's like the media forgets about all their objectivity and they start over these guys in their headlines that literally say the coolest guy in the world. and i saw that you got through and i know and maybe a former navy seal was interviewed he was like this guy's probably really rugged and i was like three years growth on the flat stomach and i was like really so he was great i was just fantastic like i don't know what else is he gonna be like today killing him you know killing our women and children like there's all these right though it's like this great case of hero worship i guess it's just you know i'm not i'm not complaining. but it is a huge case and here i mean you can't deny that this is the best marketing moment for the military and probably technically in the last ten years since nine eleven so this is their moments really say hey come out do something for your country and be an awesome hero that is shirtless and half in the water or at least i guess the time for the navy to say in your face to the military say we have forgotten there's
10:54 pm
something else than average over the weekend i think we've all seen the photo of the situation room where you know they're all listening to the play by play from leon panetta as this raid goes down and there's a hissy fit jewish newspaper that's the original photo that we're showing you right now but it has situations paper had to reprint it and it will photoshop it they just completely took out hillary clinton who as you know the facial expression that everyone is paying attention to because they're not allowed to print women in it because it might be something sexually suggestive but i think it was paper has completely changed history by photoshopping a person out not to mention if that photo is hillary and her. going like this is actually suggesting that i feel really really sorry for these people because that's like the most sexual abuse and i mean and you know me i'm always want to be like oh no not the sex but i'm sorry that was the hand over the mouth thing you know from the mouth i would have thought of it i mean. i really don't know what sort of
10:55 pm
offensive to women but it's much more offensive than historical of all right is that you know using it is remembers the writers these people i mean i guess i guess i'm reading a woman from newspapers is kind of upsetting well more importantly like a. with kids growing up like you never realize that's a really was just it was a religion likes to just pretend like certain people and certain women maybe never even existed i just want them to stop going after hillary and to go back to you know is hacking the hipsters for wearing viking shorts in their neighborhood. let's move on ok we're going to have people attack people if we want to donald trump who let's just face it i mean nobody even cares about him anymore he's old news now that said once forgot about the birth thing but he's been he literally so you know now he's fighting against allegations that he's a racist and his excuse for why he's not racist is because a black person a totally one time on the apprentice let's take a listen. well you know if it comes to racism and racist i am good least racist
10:56 pm
person. i was treated nobody would tell you that i am a priest races that are great relationships in fact one on three as you know and he approaches a little while ago couple of years ago and randal's been outstanding with every way so i did i am a racist person i try to give donald trump never ceases to amaze me because he makes everything about himself this guy won the apprentice right because of his hard work because he won the challenges but it's about trump because he let him win that race the person on the planet was kidding me this reminds me a lot of when tommy hilfiger was like no i'm not recent black people wear my clothes no you make a racist comment you have to stand you now you have to explain for that comment you can't throw in things like oh three weeks ago i sat next to a black person on the bus clearly not reason i think you could die of old age debating from every one of these things i mean honestly like look so you know he
10:57 pm
lets his show so he's not a racist he convinced obama to releases long form birth certificate so he's really helping the president i mean honestly the man is like a bitch you a liar i don't think there's anything you could possibly you can't capture he can't actually because he's he's incapable of saying you're right i was wrong isn't higher life is about spin he spins an empire that may or may not exist he runs for a closer spends. he spends. on one layer of balls around you and you have to paste your name on everything you know everything. and what does this say about your on the way that they've been giving him the i mean i got to wrap it up unfortunately we're out of time we didn't get to the fact that a man got like in prison for accuse ounce of weed in new orleans i think and i tell you guys he's recruiting and make sure to come back tomorrow dean baker is going to be back on the program talk about vice president joe biden trying to find a way to reduce the deficit i mean. time don't forget to become a fan of a lot of show on facebook and follow us on twitter and if you missed any of the
