hey guys well michelle is hal on able to share we've heard our guests have to say on the topic now i want to hear our audience just go out in your field to video response or to twitter for fun of the questions that we've host on you tube every monday and on thursday to show your responses i hate a lot of what they have. you
10:31 pm
know sometimes you see a story and it seems so you think you understand it and then you do them something else here's some of the part of it and realized everything you thought you know i'm sorry. all right it's time for tides tool time award and tonight it goes to the catholic church are actually goes to the united states conference of catholic bishops see a five year study commissioned by america's catholic bishops was released to the media today and the study was trying to determine what caused the sexual abuse crisis that's haunted the church for years now this study came to one very
10:32 pm
steadfast conclusion of the all male celibate priesthood and homosexuality are definitely not to blame for the sex scandals how shocking right now about the report came to look different conclusion it's said that the abuse occurred occurred because priests were not prepared and monitored during the stressful time of the one nine hundred sixty s. in the one nine hundred seventy s. yes i'm actually being serious about that the study says the greys were not ready for the social and sexual turmoil during that time period and the church is actually blaming the. woodstock era but the priests systematically abusing boys yes the free love peace politics drugs and rock n roll just turned a priest into abusive pedophiles now this is the first time we've heard the brilliant excuse the blade woodstock explanation has been floated by bishops when the priest abuse scandal first began exploding here in the us back in two thousand and two and over across the pond last year the church also tried to play woodstock for the church's problems but i'm honestly shocked that this is the best excuse
10:33 pm
that they have newsflash catholic church nobody bought of the new europe and nobody is buying it now now this new study was released today but it was initiated in two thousand and six and was conducted by researchers at the john jay college of criminal justice in new york and the church paid nearly two million dollars for this report to be done sounds like they already knew what they were going to say so why did they pay two million dollars and the bishops here in the u.s. who commissioned a study said that they hope airport is going to advance the understanding and prevention of child sexual abuse right if the catholic church actually wants to prevent child sexual abuse how about you start reporting three similar children that you look at the real issues that cause the scandal not just blame the sixty's and not shockingly the data compiled for the study was provided by the churches diocese and religious orders itself which really doesn't sound all that fair and accurate now it's sad is that the catholic church is even trying to pass this
10:34 pm
report off as a legitimate reason for the sex scandal the reason for the abuse is simple the catholic church is living in the dark ages it's two thousand and eleven the world has changed but the catholic church refuses to move into the twenty first century i think in fact they might still be living in the sixty's and that's why the conference of catholic bishops is tonight's tool time winner for their ridiculous report on what caused the sexual abuse scandal. well gamers are getting their fix again out of the play station network is partially up and running out. the massive data breach that left over one hundred million users on but since april twentieth we've kept you updated on the network's preach and sony c.e.o. howard stringer's piss poor job of gammage control not only that the company wait six days to tell its own customers that their personal information including credit card data was at the mercy of malicious hackers now stringer is even claiming that the mega corporation can't guarantee that user information will ever be one hundred
10:35 pm
percent safe he says chalk it up to our bad new word world excuse me those are his words of malicious hackers that will eventually target the global financial system so i guess so he was just the first step of this evil plan you know maybe the c.e.o. made that claim after hearing about sony's network suffering yet another attack this time involving users log in that and passwords say in order for gamers to access the network post blackout they have to reenter their information which is already in the hands of the hackers so you see the problem lies here now just add to that the pile of problems that sony has to deal with and at this point it's almost exhausting trying to keep up with the lawyers of the hacks the company has the layers of hacks of the company is suffering from and all those too early to get any official numbers many analysts think that these attacks of cost so many a billion dollars which is definitely going to have an impact on their products and networks in the future but in an attempt to save face it companies come up with offers to appease their angry customers not only customers be able to purchase
10:36 pm
a form of insurance but they can also download two free games from the playstation store once it's up and running users can also look forward to giving gamers thirty days of play station plus membership and will even restock game of face for users games weren't sizeable during sunday's blackout but here's my question is it even worth it for sony to give out all these we're so sorry gifts if they can't even promise to secure their own network you don't see other gaming companies out there saying things like that but all. the reason sony is continuing to be the target of these militias attacks is because it's open knowledge that their networks had no protection whatsoever so my opinion telling the world that their network can never really be fully safe from future attacks that's like getting a sloppy apology to all those people who dropped hundreds of dollars for their soccer products i propose stringer opens a booth where maybe frustrated gamers can i don't know pay twenty five cents to beat up the c.e.o. just think about it now only going to company get some of its money back but it
10:37 pm
will be a great stress reliever as well for the record that was a joke. now the battle over subsidies has taken capitol hill by storm really it's the only thing they're talking about they all know that it's going to have to up their muses' easy politics but we also know if this bill were to pass it would lower gas prices one penny there's lots of things we can do you can start by eliminating the four billion dollars subsidy that you will companies to publish what they say congress when they say that will not affect the price of gas of course are going to say that they're getting the subsidies is ridiculous while the republicans are looking at getting rid of medicare ten years from now at wiping out planned parenthood and cutting back savagely on head start programs and saying that the reason they have to do all of this is because the most important issue is our debt and deficit but it's not as important as protecting big oil and the totally
10:38 pm
unnecessary subsidies that they get from the american taxpayer you would think because of this bill as nine forty that's a big oil and gas companies are getting all the subsidies making all the profits paying no taxes. and the rest of us are suffering nothing could be further from the truth we have huge subsidies that have been given to oil companies now and in one case four hundred years made sense one hundred years ago doesn't make sense now when our companies have the highest profits of any corporations in the world. yesterday the senate failed to pass a vote to end two billion dollars in tax breaks a year to the big five now the battle is once again over drill baby drill as republicans think that that's going to drive oil prices down keep that tax breaks offshore drilling none of that is going to solve the larger problems of this country hands but will we ever get to move forward with politics and not logic are
10:39 pm
taking center stage joining me to discuss this is david robert senior staff writer at risd org david thanks so much for joining us tonight so like i said let's look at what's happening right we're arguing over ending tax breaks for the oil companies you have republicans saying that they want to drill baby drill to bring oil prices down neither of those really solve the long term problems but should they be arguing that about the middle. oh we're in a sticky political situation in there so i guess prices are fairly high right now. and it. is a better predictor of voter average and anger gas prices you guys actually see gas prices tracked presidential crawl ratings pretty pretty closely i always have the problem is there's almost nothing politicians can do so i mean there's very very little they can do to assert yes prices particularly in the short term maybe over a change for your horizon but in the short term there's nothing you can do but they can't come out and say there's nothing we can do so what you get is
10:40 pm
a debate that's almost entirely attempt at every everybody on all sides is the only political question and substantive question is can you get something that's good for both for policy reasons out of this or use assertively to be president let's talk about it if politicians can't really do anything about it yet obviously they're going for perhaps the easy out which is making the oil companies the bogeyman what's really driving these oil prices up you can say that it's unrest in the middle east a lot of uncertainty surrounding not and it's also speculation on the market so who does have the power to bring oil prices down. oh but there's lots and lots of things that are so spoiled prices and even the experts don't that means nobody should pretend that they really understand so all that well while prices do what they do there's a lot of. unrest in the middle east there is this huge surge in demand from developing countries which is going on for years no end and some of the short term
10:41 pm
goals are stuck to a ship involved but the larger point is that over the long term we know that oil is going to get more scarce and we know that the price is going to continue going up and if the price of oil continues to go up the price of gas will continue to grow up so substantively and substantive terms there's only one thing we can really to which of protect ourselves against oil shocks and against high gas prices that's use less oil and use less gas that work that's explosive it just turns out that that's not a particularly thrilling political. move so what you have is obama trying to sort of package some of that you know a little reduction and use a bunch of other stuff the polls but are including drilling and question are speculators and so well of course you know trying to change the practices or the habits of an entire population is never
10:42 pm
a popular political move but then do you think that's also going to be our downfall i mean is there any way to break this cycle or will we constantly be stuck in the short term thinking the election cycle every few years and you know nobody ever wants to think ahead they only focus on the short term. well sooner or later discipline goal or in the form of higher prices. it's probably the least way to impose discipline on yourself but it works i mean and it . but it also shows that once just prices get over about four dollars there's something kind of. really significant about threshold but not quite inspired or suggest it's over four dollars you start to see real substantive change isn't equal miles traveled it's the size of cars that get so all that and things like that what we like to do ideally play. in it and look ten years out at those parts of the stores open certain way and use changes. part of the standards and things like that
10:43 pm
and some of that is being done but it's just. it's hard to get much more for politically when you have the other side constantly demagoguing every you know every time prices go up you wait whatever parties are in that buyers very difficult to make sense of what else and you know i think we also have to talk about a larger issue here which is that there is no planning ahead ever because obviously politicians are trying to get reelected but politicians on both side of the aisle whether they be democrats or republicans no matter what face they want to put on publicly when they're having a debate on how they feel about oil companies they all get a lot of money when it comes to campaign donations from these oil companies so it perhaps in that corruption we have to deal with first. well there's two elements of that corruption in the senate specifically quality yesterday's court what of course the ridiculous existence of a soul buster which means you're to get sixty votes to get anything you can't
10:44 pm
operate on a majority. states and all other democracies do so there's that but if you look at the breakdown of oil and gas donations the majority in the senate voted against the subsidies got about five billion dollars has got about five billion dollars in total for oil and gas companies the minority of senators who voted to preserve the subsidies are going well over twenty million dollars from oil and gas companies so if you combine the filibuster lens you only need forty senators and you combine that with the extraordinary resources available to stop the needs and of course the free flow of money and some after citizens united is just and they're going to have the power to gain politics to their will for years to come unless there is some sort of change you want a grassroots uprising from from some voters and they demand something. i have and i thank you very much for joining us tonight ag as saddos really high prices might end up being what they have mattered when they turned to manny thank you frank
10:45 pm
thanks. then. we have to take a quick break but coming up tonight justice clarence thomas made a few remarks that got me pretty fired up somebody give him a piece of my mind in our own flood of the sacraments and then a grab a cocktail and join us for happy hour parties any churchill and christine for as our join us to discuss story though please just can't get it out of here gingrich gets a shower of glitter and his new video that makes the socks the front a version of a new cold war taking. we the party. we haven't got the. safe ready. freedom.
10:46 pm
hey guys welcome michel ancel on the obama show we've heard our guests not to say on the topic now i want to hear audio just go on to you seem to video response our twitter profile of the questions that we've posted on you tube every monday and on thursday the show long response is certainly. a hawk. for. instance for. fun.
10:47 pm
you know sometimes you see a story and it seems so for lack of sleep you think you understand it and then he lives something else and you hear or see some other part of it and realize everything you thought you knew you don't know i'm sorry we're going to the big picture. the recent conference of the augusta bar association him in his home state of georgia just as clarence thomas made a few rather surprising remarks regarding those who criticize the supreme court he compared those critics to sports fans and he wondered aloud if they're illiterate or just lazy and that is a direct quote he also went on to say you know just keep nagging in navigating
10:48 pm
a nagging at some point it's got to stop sometimes too much is too much really clarence that is so rich coming from you since he arrived at the supreme court nearly twenty years ago thomas has become a hard line conservative and the fact that he's openly criticizing people who talk about court ruling class is kind of laughable it's been a years since justice thomas asked a question of anybody presenting arguments before the high court and fact there's even a running tally on the last time that he actually asked a lawyer a question try that's in february of two thousand and six here's my bigger problem the justice thomas if you don't like some of the people that are critics of the high court calling them out there why don't you stop making bad ruling that is united come to my january of last year the court struck down a provision of the mccain feingold campaign law the bar corporations and unions from paying for political ads made independently of candidate campaigns so basically corporations are now considered a person they're free to spend unlimited amounts of money on political campaigns
10:49 pm
and we've already seen that work with record amounts of money flowing for organizations that don't even have to disclose their donors then it just yesterday we told you about the supreme court's decision not to hear the case of mohammed versus jefferson data plant and the case involved five men who allege that the cia had been shipped to foreign countries to be tortured by the supreme court refusing to hear that case they were at a federal appeals court ruling stand but the president has the power to scuttle the man's law and all because of state secrets so basically the justice dept on a very high profile case all because it was. controversial and of course don't even get me started on the story that we talked about last night where the way that they ripped apart the fourth amendment or now the supreme court is given free reign to police to bust down your door without a warrant just maybe clarence thomas that's why people are criticizing you in the supreme court how about you follow the law you stand up for the basic rights of
10:50 pm
everyone you stop pushing your political agenda while wearing a judge's rope calling you out for dismantling the constitution and our civil liberties does not make anybody illiterate or lazy i just think that's the way you prefer them to be so they wouldn't take notice of your dangerous rulings but too bad for you we do know is so expect the criticisms to keep on coming. all right it's time for happy hour this evening and joining me tonight is archie producer jenny churchill and for the first time r.t. correspondent christine fares out hello ladies you to join me tonight we talk a lot about videogames on the shell obviously and there's always a video game that causes a stir but this one is actually kind of crazy was commissioned by the chinese army and unlike most video games where you can just shoot at random guys and in uniforms
10:51 pm
that you can't tell where they're from this time they're actually shooting at men in american uniforms take a look. and i mean if you just want to tell anybody that a cold war is coming i guess the way to do it is to make a video game and put a flag on the back of someone's uniform i thought that was really interesting and i thought one of the most interesting things was that this was approved of and excited the people in the poll and the people's liberation army the chinese army totally were onboard with us and i thought that was really really interesting although we have to keep in mind the video games that we have here in america. that are very very popular and i have to say that where normally i would be of the
10:52 pm
stance i'm i'm against first person shooter games this is ridiculous let's not put reality and the games were telling people how far in this case i had a little bit of a problem with the outrage because the distinction being made here is that in our military game you know there's not a uniform there's not a unified enemy there i was unaware and i'm ground level as you know where i was unaware that the taliban had a uniform that they wore because if they did you better believe we would be shooting at that it really wars were involved in people are not wearing uniforms so i mean i think the idea no matter what is the more realistic a video game the more people think it's cool when the more people like to play it the graphics are pretty incredible and all of these whether it's a call of duty american army where this new one is called by the way it's called glorious mission the thing that i find kind of funny about it to you is they hear you have the chinese are using this is recruiting tool for their military but then he said recruit people yeah i think that they yeah but the funny thing is that they're shooting at americans and they're using it you know as
10:53 pm
a tool to get people on board but they're using the age old american recruiting tool which is just give them a video game and all find out how much fun laurie and you know it's more. great thing about this is not the video game itself but the fact that the video game where they kill americans is a motivator where people are like yes let's kill and from what i understand it's used as a training tool more than a recruiting like a training really the words just like a game let's move on to another one there's a parishioner from a church i guess i don't go to church but i guess people do this they can put people's names on lists that they want to pray for and somebody has to pray for osama bin ladin and it's causing a bit of an uproar for other members of the church i think we have a clip of that as well this sunday we need jesus catholic church who prays for a mass murderer someone requested the church prays for osama bin ladin across appears next to his name in the church bulletins trainer list some americans are just stupid i think it. doesn't belong in that region but what he did to the
10:54 pm
american people you're bored anyway it's unconscionable and i think it's sacrilegious. ok that's kind of interesting because it isn't it that religious to refuse to pray for somebody isn't the whole thing about being a good christian is that you'll pray for anybody that needs praying for. there's definitely a lot of phrasing about you know pray for your enemies and i think that there's definitely been a big divide in the christian church about whether or not some of the stats should be celebrated and some people say yes it's fine because you know the christian god is a god of justice however you know standing for justice and believing that justice has been done is a little different than running around with the flag oh add to that there's been a divide among parishioners in the catholic church but there has not been a divide in the people the leaders of the church the leaders of the church or the next sunday after this happened they came out and they shook their fingers at the
10:55 pm
people in the pews and they said listen we don't condone you know this is a celebrate torrie time right now but we don't condone anyone being killed and so i really think that there was. a lot of discussion among priests at least in the catholic church about what this own ends and the fact that you need to if you want to call yourself a catholic or christian for that matter you better step down before you're celebrating maybe celebrate a little quieter this person it was just killed you know us and when you have to remind religious people that you're not supposed to love the law don't let i mean back in washington it's not about being perfect. ok for them to you know is going to you know listen under our next story because we have another clip here to. study what can you say are you guys just embarrassed mitt but this little video just i don't know brings a little joy to my heart let's take a look. the rainbow move. closer to the boiling or comes from the snow you know.
10:56 pm
you came here seven kind of a rough week here he had a guy on video that told the jury to bury smith don't run it don't do this but you know if we need to fill people in a little bit of background newt gingrich is actually anti-gay marriage even though he's been allowed to marry three different women and cheat on them which is worse while she was actually in the hospital or yeah you know i never thought i'd say this but you know i feel bad for newt gingrich this week in addition to those things that you mentioned i mean he was on meet the press blasting paul ryan. and blasting his plan and then you go right wing social right here i mean it really doesn't do you right i mean this is a guy who's been in politics for a really long time and he should know better than to do all this well i mean he basically got the equivalent of a gay tar and feathering is what happened because i've been saying i gave rainbow sprinkler yeah i think that it's really hard to get glitter off and i'm glad that
10:57 pm
it's my sitting next to him or she might have think thought that he was at a strip joint well you know you could tell it's really hard to get glitter on think you're dressed for something when you were little girls. like confetti glitter i guess the best part of that video is the part that we didn't see right after that one of the conservative guys who pushed this guy with the glitter out says we never show up to your old vents and disturb you like this which is so funny to me because there are so scared a lot of them of homosexuals of course they don't want you there are you guys we got a rabbit of course they were out of time but i think that was the you know a little glitter never hurt anybody that's a pretty nice so thanks for tuning in to make back tomorrow obama is giving a speech to the arab world is this speech really do anything to light watch the actions of his ministration we'll discuss it to morrow but in the meantime go get become a. and of a lot of show on facebook and follow us on twitter and if you missed any of the night's or any other i think you know it's hard to tell if you tube dot com a flash the a lot of party hosts the interviews as well the show in its entirety coming up next
10:58 pm
is adam vs the man. we live in the heart of the lead . we have the government says he's heard him say so get ready because the freedom. hi guys welcome michel ancel the obama show we've heard our guests not to say on the topics now i want to hear from the audience is going to you tube the video responses are the twitter for part of the questions are going to post on you tube
