in the cities available in the island resort and spa. is exactly three months since an earthquake triggered the fukushima nuclear disaster and people in japan are out on the streets demanding that something be done about the continuing crisis. in switzerland activates a venting anger at a media blackout surrounding one of the world's most secretive and influential gatherings trying to shine a light on what people build the bird group is up to. and level playing field the southern russian city of sochi undertakes major efforts to ease access for people with disabilities ahead of the twenty four team.
5:01 pm
international news in common live from our studios here in central moscow this is. three months on japan is struggling to recover from its toughest crisis since the second world war when a huge earthquake caused the most of the tsunami which left thousands that are missing a natural disaster triggered a major radiation leak at the fukushima nuclear facility and it's still on the verge of a full scale nuclear catastrophe correspondent sean thomas is in tokyo where anger over the situation is spilling onto the streets. it is a three months after the devastating earthquake and tsunami which rocked japan and devastated the fukushima region of course creating the nuclear disaster at the tepco daiichi power plant where we now know that three reactors have melted down and possibly melted throughout today is a very interesting day at the tepco headquarters in central tokyo thousands of people have gathered some in support of nuclear power believe it or not and
5:02 pm
thousands more who are walking the streets in organized protests carrying signs and banners and shouting out slogans through loudspeakers against nuclear power saying that there needs to be alternative sources of energy of all this of course and for the tepco headquarters the company responsible for the daiichi power plant one of the reasons why this is important is that within the past week new information has come out saying that tepco at the initial phases of the disaster lied about the amount of radiation those coming in and tried to downplay the situation saying that the radiation levels were not as bad that there could possibly be a meltdown then of course this past week it was revealed that. couples numbers are in half in fact. the government is not providing proper information and people young and old want to know the truth of the course of the situation with the radioactive emissions has not changed in the last three months nothing has changed since the very beginning the communities devastated the people have no homes
5:03 pm
there's no place to walk everything is destroyed the school also coming to life is that the nuclear fuel not only melted down but possibly melted through the inner containment vessels and into the outer skin were still lining which is a much much more serious problem one thing that people are worried about is the amount of radioactive water that is in the area this is the beginning of the rainy season and people are worried that with the more rain that radioactive water will then still out in a flood in the area causing work attenuation also people are very angry about the children their schools which are contaminated is. well right now kids are exposed to higher levels of radiation have you ever had been in the past and they have to stay inside in sealed buildings without a building to play outside it's also very hot and impossible to get. a surprise one person from the prime minister sharon has actually said he will not subject his entourage that is eventually it is a chronicle of the safety of ministers with the entrepreneur to exert themselves to
5:04 pm
be higher levels of radiation of course our goal is an archie cruise to go into the fukushima zone and we're going to go in with some clean up crews and see how that process is going right now but from tokyo john thomas artsy. burney an independent nuclear energy consultant based in the u.k. has told me that recovery from the current nuclear disaster at the fukushima plant is going to be long and painful. the explosions that took place in the first day they released a large amount to redirect evictee tracts ninety percent of it ended and entered the pacific because the travelling winds ten percent landed or more landed on the mainland of japan which is why you've got contamination tens and tens of kilometers away from the site the problem is that as a result of these explosions and as a result of the core melt in these reactors contaminated water the water that was
5:05 pm
cooled by used by tickle to cool the reactors has no gold cup on site we know that maybe five to ten thousand tonnes has been released into the pacific but there is an additional one hundred thousand tons of highly contaminated water sitting inside the reactor buildings inside the turbine holes for radiation depending on the tiger radiation can be seen in a relatively short period of time to plead with thyroid cancers in children but more long term critical sold hundreds is over several decades. a number of u.s. congressmen have received a letter apparently written by colonel gadhafi saying he's ready to negotiate a cease fire asking for humanitarian aid the authenticity of the letter has not been confirmed it is continuing to step up its airstrikes on the capital tripoli that's despite a fresh lawsuit by colonel that his daughter against the french president she is suing nicolas sarkozy and nato for killing four members of a family during an airstrike in april while the turkish prime minister was offered colonel gadhafi exit guarantees to wherever he chooses radio host and author
5:06 pm
stephen leatherman has told me that the colonel more than anyone else wants an end to the conflict. he never wanted conflict in the first. media did he responded to it when washington and new york will leave again. because of the once again you want to ceasefire he doesn't want any of this to go war on the west. he wants it in this business he wants it need a conflict washington or nato castle we do not want to live here in the energy ground including former u.s. congresswoman green card a presidential candidate he says he really. is truly. a rebel force and maybe you know what i mean these shillings and mass casualties and mass

destruction the us media is mysterious i was here and. they were ordering begin and mention loose here i mean the truth. well on our website are people called we want to know how you think libya's deadlock can be resolved and looking at the screen now we can see that nearly two thirds of you think that nato should withdraw making it feel one sixty percent say things should continue as they are until the conflict eventually ends or ten percent think only ground forces will resolve the situation always the same amount feel the u.n. should send in peacekeepers and split libya in two thousand and eight and express your point of view join us in. coming up for you online talk show host the resident goes fishing for opinion in new york city for putting on the recent cyber attacks on giant companies like sony and most. technically speaking they are heroes because they can solve. everything they are they are the products

of all of the security systems. some less positive take some help. because of their motives in a few minutes and also coming up. there are a lot of different legends and myths around this area in the past all calls try to avoid going to the city of dallas and they say anyone who dares to get in will never get out alive. find out russia closer team goes with the bring in this report from the mystical heart of the country's deep self. it's a gathering of political and financial elites in switzerland and its veil of secrecy isn't forced by an army of security guards it's all bankrolled by swiss taxpayers even as europe tightens its belts and forces through tough austerity cuts the deal about conferences attended by people ranging from royalty to top news outlets c.e.o.'s i was also under traditional media blackout and it's as this
5:09 pm
report. as this building work meeting has progressed here in summer it's in switzerland more and more protesters have turned out to say they don't want it to happen here they're camping out outside the hotel showing up in numbers really from all over the world there are swiss people obviously but i will say many germans austrians swedes and even americans who come all the way here either to report on what's going on all just to protest here with their feet on the ground in person some of the people behind me say that they have been subjected to harassment by the swiss police threats of deportation things of that nature they have varying degrees of suspicion about the building group some say that they are scheming behind closed doors to introduce a new world order but some just want to point out that in many countries it's illegal for elected officials to meet in secret in these kinds of surroundings let's hear what some of the process has told me the swedish and these the
5:10 pm
politicians are according to swedish law committing diplomatic treason and if they were sentenced if they were judged and sentenced they would be imprisoned for ten years to life according to swiss will people think it's a conspiracy theory but in fact is just the ignorance of the people we've known for a long time pretty much what's been going on there. and it's definitely not good of humanity not good for the planet. and you know i don't want my kid growing up to be a slave in the new world order to be honest this is not the only process day about kilometer away down in the town as the young swiss socialists have turned out again to process in fact they dismiss the people behind me they say a lot of the these people are essentially a crackpot conspiracy theorists but what they're here to say is this meeting goes against everything that they perceive to be switzerland that neutrality the
5:11 pm
transparency that they want to promote here. in switzerland just isn't evident in the dealings of the build group they can only crisis is to resort to the policy of conference and global leaders we see more democracy. in the economy this is meeting in switzerland does look like a different affair from last year since it just in spain there are more processes here there's also more media attention a lot of alternative media journalists are turned up to try to report on what's going on all day r.t. is the only international news station that's represented here so we are seeing more protests we are seeing better organized protests than we saw last year better organized media facilities so it does look like if this momentum can be carried on a building a comfortable meeting in secret like this for very much longer. that's pretty investigative journalist turney causing her about this in the police and media blackout of the building is unacceptable given the far reaching decisions made by
5:12 pm
those attending. it's pretty obvious to me that this is a complete most convenient way to distract attention to say a sort of mix are this very important meeting with other silly kind of spirits conspiracy theories i can tell you my blood is boiling at the lack of coverage in the western world if you had all of the leaders of the main banks in the west all of these royalty all the chief executives as well as people like george osborne with his treasury team there i mean we're talking about an incredibly important meeting even if one of these groups were to meet up together it would be on our headlines but since they're all in the same place you would expect more coverage i mean even from the guardian to get down there. but isn't that the choice of the group they want a media blackout so they can discuss openly and honestly amongst themselves without being reported erroneously or whatever they don't want the media to be there is that right. well they don't want the media that's because i think what they're up
5:13 pm
to in there is absolutely is no good we have to look at what nato is up to this is very important to understand the very close links between eight zero and the builder bergs it was set up round about the same time as nato just after the second world war by the cia and the council on foreign relations who'd been talking about this during and after world war two and the idea that this organization is not important not important enough for us to know about in this country is just ridiculous around the western world because what's happening here is we are spending our years voting in local and general elections and this arrogant bunch are choosing our party leaders so it almost doesn't matter which way we vote we still find that this secret artificial consensus which is cooked up at these build a bird meetings spreads out around the world and it's not just me saying that this is will hutton who actually went to one of these meetings when he was still the editor of the observer newspaper here in britain. speak to me a little earlier well for more on any of these stories or indeed if you want to see that interview in full you can always log on to our web site there's plenty there
5:14 pm
plenty of features and news there at r.t. dot com including working in tandem with the russian president joins the country's prime minister on a bike ride to discuss social and economic issues. tit for tat all provocation was the murder of unity but dawn of a russian colonel sentence for killing a chechen teen aimed at stirring up ethnic tension or just pure revenge. it's on the web site of the moment you are ultra-orthodox jews join the palestinian struggle they're calling for the dismantling of the jewish state this and plenty more for your naughty dot com online all the time. an indomitable spirit

a man with physical disability makes the eleven thousand kilometer trip from russia's far east to where i'm sitting here in moscow on an electric in the military scooter and it's under caution began his epic journey from the pacific city of lagos talk in the middle of april since then his brave several injuries and a fever that remained on course towards moscow despite the hardships and it's under says he's happy to have made new friends while raising awareness of disability issues while that's also the goal set by the paralympic games to be held in twenty fourteen in sochi and results he's done he's been reports the city has begun preparing a welcome for disabled athletes from around the world. is it easy for a man in a wheelchair to travel to sochi it's a tough question for the mayor and his aides as the city is preparing to host the two thousand and fourteen winter paralympics he asked russia's paralympic champion to inspect. she's newly built airport. and i actually like that this place is one of the few airports in russia that has lived in
5:16 pm
a verse that helps to seal passengers can board the plane through the city however there are issues that require attention and i'm sure they'll be dealt with. all newly built ice rink steady and ski pistons are equipped in accordance with strict paralympic standards but in the city itself with its aging infrastructure still a lot has to be done to comply sochi sidewalks shops and restaurants are also undergoing massive construction to comply with strict standards so that nowhere is off limits and even though competition such as iceland hockey and alpine skiing will be held far from the city center thanks to the games sochi will be more accessible for people with disabilities living a lasting legacy for locals and visitors alike russia's paralympics what topped the overall standings at the vancouver two thousand and ten winter games with thirty eight medals twelve gold silver and sixteen bronze we spoke with russia's paralympic champion. as he was preparing for the three week training in sochi.
5:17 pm
first of all we're proud russia will be hosting the paralympics it's good when the games are being held at home. and it's a great responsibility we just can't move. the first paralympic to vincent in skiing and biathlon will be held as early as next year drawing unprecedented international attention to the small russian town so for most people here it's a chance to show their hospital due to the special guests creating a comfortable barrier free environment the first of its kind in russia and also a great opportunity to see the russian paralympic team in action does r t. spanish police have arrested three men believed to be involved in carrying out cyber attacks on governments and companies including sony and mastercard suspects have been identified as members of the worldwide hacking group anonymous well this week online talk show host the president takes to the streets of new york to gauge people's attitude to.
5:18 pm
so many intend out even the f.b.i. it seems like no one is safe from hackers these days i do heroes or belittle this week let's talk about that. they are heroes because. everything they are they are. security systems so what if a robber a bank robber is technically. proficient enough to get into a bank does that make him a hero to. the police department goes into certain things and the government goes into certain things probably i would put that on the same level as i would someone who goes in and hacks into a site they're not supposed to be on their heart which are five things. just doing illegal activities. things just to make.
5:19 pm
done really to open things that should be i don't have that much of a problem is that it's so subjective though why are we in trusting thieves essentially making that kind of a judgment call. they use the stronger well they're going to take in people's an information for the good or bad if you're if you're going to be taking a lot of credit card numbers and credit card accounts and doing that type of thing and you're using that information again hurt. i don't think that's a good thing have you ever had your personal information had i actually yeah you know and i felt. so violated in trying to control the information and stuff like that it's just. it's an awful feeling oh i think it's going to get worse much worse because i have five daughters ranging from twenty three down to twelve years old and they're you know they don't think anything's ever going to happen to them and they're out there with all of it and even though
5:20 pm
the warnings from here. they're the next generation so if you caught them putting stuff out there you're like don't look at their. cell phone numbers yet do you think hackers are villains or heroes the bottom line is if you have information in a database someplace in thirty years that. target. well know we look at some other world news in brief in the world spanish police have dispersed a running outside city hall in the capital madrid is the man speech but the split. almost five thousand people turned out in protest over corruption and the authorities failure to handle the financial crisis and the treasury for the wave of protests across the country triggered by unemployment and economic hardship. refugees from syria been pouring into turkey after the syrian government intensified its efforts against the rebel city of. most residents have reportedly

christian churches are good cultural prosperity and a magnificent ancient necropolis known as the city of the day today with one of the most mysterious sides in southern russia the village of dog gets what is not here is don't legacy that's driving locals away as. it's called as. we continue our exploration of the north as such in a republic and this time we'll visit a unique historical area of the village of dar govs or as the locals call it here the city of dad's well the cemetery has almost one hundred asian stone crabs where people that lived in this area buried their loved ones along with their belongings you know this valley stretches for over sixteen kilometers and is a real open air museum for his thirty as they say this land helps them imagine live down here four hundred years ago meanwhile day to day life continues in this area

along size this images of the past now watch our report to find out more three hours drive through a dangerous sneaking road hidden up in the mountains and talk to troops but it's worth it there are a lot of different legends and myths around this area in the past locals try to avoid going to the city of dallas they say anyone who dares to get in will never get out alive and even now there are hardly any tourists around this place which might be more to the difficulty of getting here rather than any death curse. indeed times of the plane many people with no one left to burry them would come to the crypt and wait for the dam priest mansion about the century of the diamond at the beginning of the fourteenth century the ancestors of insanity and sounds all

down on the five mountain ridges with the land was so expansive they were forced to choose the windiest and most unserviceable pleas to build a cemetery these days the area now provides a huge opportunity for archaeologists items found out the cemetery have been treat both professionals and local homages these days the surrounding area me once again be a lawyer with agriculture and opportunity but it's been deserted. people in search of a different lifestyle. for a long are shot of odyssey and this is a devastating fact he has built his own hydro power plants that provides him and his family with an interesting but he doesn't know who will inherit his legacy the overview for the idea was born i did ten years ago and it took me several years to build it from scratch and i used everything i could possibly find i call my invention a freeflow wheel but what i see now is that people are leaving of our village left

unique maybe because of its location and nobody knows after spending several hours hand it really feels like this mountainous area marries the past with the presence and if you listen hard enough you can almost hear the full fathers of assad singing their songs by the fire and i do not question what russia close up of the republic of north or south asia. twenty six minutes past the hour here in the russian capital i'll be back with a look at the main headlines in just a few moments stay with us life here in the sky.
