oh and marvin in washington d.c. and here's what's coming up tonight on the big picture u.s. supreme court justice clarence thomas is caught once again except in money and favors from right wingers with deep pockets british justice is caught in an ethical behaviors have been forced to drop the gavel so what makes thomas any different meanwhile republican presidential candidate michele bachmann has created a grand old plan to balance the budget place in the bulk of income taxes on the floor. all taxes on the super rich and it's official america
9:01 pm
can no longer stand on its own two feet how and why foreign money is gobbling up our nation. you need to know this in are more reasons why supreme court justice clarence thomas should be impeached news that air times reported last week that justice thomas is actually accept being generous favors from right wing millionaire arlen crowe of trammell crow construction fame and fortune along with giving millions of dollars to the republican party and right wing groups like swift boat veterans for truth arlen crow has also led to justice thomas with tens of thousands of dollars in gifts including a fifteen thousand dollars bible that once belonged to frederick douglass crowe also cut justice thomas' wife half million dollar check so that she could start her
9:02 pm
very own tea party lobby group for arm dedicated to repealing obamacare a case by the way that her husband will likely decide when the supreme court determines the constitutionality of the health reform law in coming months so. now add this misdeed to the laundry list of bad behavior by justice thomas from an ethical fund raising for not disclosing his wife's right wing income to obvious conflicts of interest on the bench all of which are clear violations of the federal code of conduct for judges and the problem is the justices on the supreme court every dissent to themselves and themselves alone from that code of conduct presidents can and have been impeached members of congress can and have been expelled for bad behavior and the constitution the united states says quote the judge's show hold their office during good behavior by the way capitalized and
9:03 pm
quote so is it time for we the people to enforce the constitution and have the supreme court as answerable for bad behavior as are the president and congress should we encourage congress to begin proceedings for impeachment of justice clarence thomas here offer his take on that question is conservative commentator t.j. mccormick t.j. welcome back. thank you man good to see again tom good to see you this is t.j. this is aid for his all over again this has nothing to do with race ford has resigned over taking a twenty thousand dollars he was on the supreme court to get just like exact same position as thomas says to get twenty thousand dollars from a guy who was going to bring business before the court thomas and his wife have taken over a half million dollars from several parties who have bad currently have and will have business before the court this is plain blatant corruption and just like abe fortas thomas should resign. oh well no i mean a fortis was put on a twenty thousand dollars
9:04 pm
a year retainer an actual cash retainer by an individual that's that's not happened here how many years he's actually found this and taking money from right wing bias like they are i think. if she just is ginni thomas the i don't like your little throwaway there that's has nothing to do with race if anything poor clarence is guilty of one thing and that is conservative while black . the left has been the left the knoll on sirius the left. do you mean if it's a white if a white guy took money from and gifts from his wife took millions of dollars over time from. say george soros associated groups you would not be saying that that person should be on the supreme court. what i'm saying is are you that the left has this i'm saying is that this man is not come up the way the left likes to see black people come up that this man is unfortunately a conservative and that is not the kind of black man that the left likes t.j. or t.g.
9:05 pm
you are seen exclusively for yourself not for me are you tried as are you trying to tell me that if sonia sotomayor husband. had taken over a million dollars from from george soros funded programs and and she herself had taken it taking gifts from groups that were safe from unions that we're going to have business in front of the supreme court if it used to be just fine without. actually i know i don't know if i'd be fine with it but i'd do it but it would be the it's the law of the land why are you saying this has nothing to do with race why shouldn't the supreme court say it hears the same basic standards of judicial condoms and they require lower judges. from federal judges all the way down to justices of the peace to adhere to what i would have what i'm saying is and i had made i kind of went off the subject but i had to address the one little thing for throwaway line that you said it as not going to do with race it was i don't think i've been there and i know what i think clarence thomas is everything about race and i think i think he stands for one of proctor sees all of the i think he stands
9:06 pm
for one of the hypocrisy of the left which is there it would be the end in the end of a c.p. is all for the advancement of colored people as long as they're liberal colored people and i'm using their term that c.p. . anyway let me let me let me i'll you're the host and forgive me i'm going to get back to what you were asking me for this was a different situation in my opinion and i believe the facts are there and i heard a lot was wrong on this and this and this entire thing he. spent this much money. in one thousand nine hundred sixty six dollars i'm sure twenty grand here maybe it is maybe it was half as much in dollars but even for his horse out of the bench for five years sixty six to sixty nine maybe four years whatever that man who's and you know he he stepped out because it was obvious that there was a conflict of interest there there's an obvious i don't put the british he you know he took cash and guy was going to have a business today where the court. right and look and i'll say this and if they're
9:07 pm
if somebody has some actual hands in a pot where the i've actually got a look you can't just talk about somebody ideology or sneaking a speech at a foundation and madman your politics that better collect because that because then nobody would be and every judge would be recusing themselves from every single thing that you know every judge we have to tell he doesn't do this kind of thing t.j. we just long for every judge in america to do what clarence thomas has been doing it doesn't hurt kings who are a lot who said that they can set themselves up and they don't have to stand by that by the constitutional standard of good behavior they do want to do you know if this goes the court did yes exactly what they said about police ultimately that they don't have to call the race that's wrong and and it's and you know what but that but unfortunately as we sit here right now for it is the law of the land that is the case you know i've got to admit i'm being totally intellectually honest i find it very interesting because in my little bit of research i didn't come across that
9:08 pm
part and it's in lightning to me that you talk about what it says in the is it in the constitution guess article three section one of the first sentence recreational sir harry i'm sorry good idea havior they capitalized the behavior me listening to it's interesting how they watch things when they were important and that's interesting to me that's very very interesting to me and i'm going to take it it's a how to hear him well you know what's worse generating a tweeting a porno picture yourself through a friend on twitter or displaying clear bias and taking money from you know from from people who have business before the court what's worse. i well i think that is i think there's just i think there is a difference i think i think one is one actually happened and by the way to lose it is you know a lot of this is still very unsubstantiated a lot of this comes with the language of hazily and he has admitted that every gate he violated not only judicial conduct but arguably even you know laws having to do
9:09 pm
with with disclosure in government by not disclosing here and he would write it i corrected it was taking hundred he corrected it after he had been caught and called out on it this is this is you get you doing airways madness is worse ah well you know like hey listen you know a couple of months ago i actually have we did an extension for our taxes and my wife and i just sent in our extension we sent in our money to a two to a secretary of the treasury who is a darn chant tax cheat himself we are in country of contradictions on terror and he can hear it you know. he you know of of mr geithner and we think that he has behaved badly oh my god we didn't want to be in a first place because he didn't know how can you lose your contact your members of the house and senate because that's actually the senate is where the impeachment actually the house is where the impeachment has to originate and you say it's time to impeach you want to impeach tim geitner that's fine with me i may even support i'd like to see justice done as. anyhow t.j. we're out of time thanks so much for being with us t.j.
9:10 pm
my bank you and it's an interesting point about the content of the constitution that was really cool read it article three section one the remarkable thing about this story is that clarence thomas is doing on the bench is far worse than what other justices have been forced to resign for doing case in point as i mentioned aide for this judge abe fortas an associate justice just like clarence thomas on the supreme court just like clarence thomas he was actually nominated by a democrat by lyndon johnson to be the chief justice in one thousand nine hundred sixty eight but after was uncovered the fords received fifteen thousand dollars from american university to lead seminars sort of like thomas taking speaking fees another twenty thousand dollars for. law firm for consulting services certainly thomas' wife taking a half a million for his was forced to resign or he chose to resign he wasn't forced but as for clarence thomas has received similar gifts from wealthy republican donors like arlene grow and even presided over cases that is gift givers have a personal stake in justice thomas' refugee refusing to budge it's like the same
9:11 pm
court that brought us citizens united and recently ruled that people can't band together to sue corporations is now officially the best court money can buy. it's time for a daily poll your chance to tell us what you think here is that is question two point five feet two and a half feet stood between a brass coons and the potential for a fukushima like nuclear disaster did you hear about this on mainstream news your choices are yes or no. to let us know what you think a poll be open till tomorrow morning. crazy alert all likely suspects arizona suffering from the state's largest wildfire in history a fire that scorched after million acres five hundred thousand acres in northern arizona so what does that creates
9:12 pm
a state senator senator mccain think is the reason behind this mammoth fire in his own state here's a hint it's not global warming theory is that a press conference over the weekend. will go consumed with two breweries down on the border where there is substantial evidence some of these fires were caused by we crossed our border with. a set of fires because one of the signal. for the suppliers to keep one and they have said this in order to go on for some of . the agencies from going so we want to do that part of the problem was that a secure. we just secure the border are wildfires that we distinguish extinguished so even though historic wildfires are burning all over the planet because of climate change the wildfires in arizona are from illegal immigration will someone
9:13 pm
please tell john mccain he's not running for office anymore and therefore doesn't have to try to out crazy a tea party challenger well that's right he does still like those lobbyists fossil fuel. coming up michele bachmann has introduced a tax plan which benefits two groups if you are thinking to low and middle class think again about the rich and the filthy rich. steinmetz twenty four seven live streaming news towns what to do about the ongoing financial hurricane unlimited free high quality videos for download. and stories you never find on mainstream news. something that will sell me a political. person more on our team not just saying.
9:14 pm
but i know now as he's running for president it was only a matter of time before congresswoman michele bachmann introduced her new text tax plan and like tim bolen she's talked tax scheme bachmann's puts the bush tax cuts on steroids in order to pay for even more tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires but one wants to raise taxes on the working families especially people in poverty arguing that everyone in america should be paying their fair share of
9:15 pm
taxes even those in total poverty or who are disabled but is everyone except billionaires who make their money sitting on their butts. by the pool collecting dividend checks bachmann thinks these people shouldn't have to pay any taxes so she's proposing a limiting capital gains taxes altogether which are already only fifteen percent far lower than what a janitor might bachmann's plan would free twenty three thousand millionaires and billionaires from having to pay any taxes in america and at the same time she would raise taxes on two hundred fifty thousand lower income people all in all bachmann's tax scheme would add another twenty five billion dollars to the debt every single year so i suppose the price small price for republicans to pay to make sure the campaign contributions from america's richest all the guards keep flowing to the party right for more on the kerry congresswoman's tax plan tailored for millionaires and billionaires i'm joined by federal tax practitioner and conservative commentator david sell it david welcome back. thanks for having me tom
9:16 pm
i've been catching a lot of flack from some other conservative commentators but i believe in spirit the discourse so well is go god bless you thank you first of all do you support michele bachmann's tax plan. well in part i don't think her proposal at this point goes nearly far enough for instance the corporate tax rate in the united states has to be lowered if we lower the corporate tax rate you will see a resurgence of employments and opportunity and our neighborhoods will thrive and bustle again but we have to tether this to something to offset the prospective costs and what we need to do is say let's say a corporation will only have to pay eighteen to twenty percent in corporate taxes right now their own have her right now they're only pays up seven percent on
9:17 pm
average no no that is a distorted distortion if you actually look at the tax rates i'm talking about however if i were just at exxon right here general electric pay in taxes last year well that's a really complicated issue here oh and i don't see that building factories around the united states do you well i'd like to address the issue that you brought up because you're the one who actually motivated me to pursue this road when you told me that we don't have an illegal alien problem in america we have an employer problem and i agree what i would say is corporations should be entitled to take eighteen to twenty percent top corporate tax rate however if they employ any legal allien someone who is in this country illegally that rate should rise to seventy five percent why don't you wait and see how is your jail if they may realize david. well that's the doesn't fully address the issue i mean you know you see we had his guys running around going to help put these illegals in jail you know throw them in a lie and they're doing it and show it sure of joe arpaio and you wear pink
9:18 pm
underwear and all this bird stuff nobody is going after c.e.o.'s and that's that we ought to hold completely different tangent here david i'd like to come back all shell bachmann's plan to you know michele bachmann says you know forty seven percent of americans who work don't pay federal income taxes because they make so little money that they're in poverty and she says everybody should pay federal income taxes if you support her plan why do you hate poor people well it's not that i think what she's saying is if you look at the earned income credit it's an absolute scam that is rife with fraud you have these individuals who are whining down their adjusted gross income and getting back tremendous checks from the federal government. and they are anonymous anonymously on the dollar and they're costing us plenty getting back to the illegal alien a show about you are exactly about it's going to here deal you're not here trying to sell me it's fine you know we can deal with aliens some other time that you're trying to tell me that somebody who's working as
9:19 pm
a greeter at walmart making eight thousand bucks a year is sophisticated enough to to to scam the internal revenue service oh yes sir there's an entire industry about this because millionaires and billionaires are not the area. well no i don't think that's the case the millionaires and billionaires as you like to refer to them pay a disproportionate amount of taxes compared to these working individuals that you're champion and. the fact of the must say right is if you work the work you do the jurors are paid a higher percentage of their total income is taxed then people who make over a million dollars here us. but they're paying so little and at the end of the year they actually get back more from the on my income and their pay now here's the hundred percent of their income is being taxed for fica so you've got to you know six and a half percent there you've got one hundred one hundred percent of their income they're paying sales taxes on because they're spending every penny that they get that's not true if we're going to tell you know everybody has to pay sales tax i'm certainly not true david i know this is well as i do of somebody or inspired
9:20 pm
hundred million dollars a year on their lifestyle they only spent twenty million dollars on their lifestyle and they put the other for four hundred eighty million dollars a year in the bank or in a swiss bank account or invested their only paying sales tax on that twenty million and people who are struggling pay sales tax on one hundred percent of their income on people who live in the investor class don't back pay it on a very small. i don't think that really addresses the issue why it is when you add up those attack an individual well we're going to tom that's exactly right if a person gets back more than they pay in they're not really a taxpayer are they well they they are paying a whole variety of taxes if you look at people who are making under thirty thousand dollars a year and you add up all the taxes and fees that they pay through the course of the year as and then call that their tax bracket and compare that with somebody making over a million dollars in the united states and add it all up what you will find and the center for american progress do the math on this it's no secret you can find it but wait a minute what you think i'm going to do is ok their math is wrong is that working.
9:21 pm
because you're in go in taxes than then millionaires and billionaires. nonsense because you're omitting what they're getting back at the end of the year in these refundable on talking i think notably here and they're going to have to know it is omitted from that figure and this is a very skewed assessment what they've put forward so why don't ok let's do away with the earned income tax credit then and simply raise the minimum wage from what it is the united states around seven bucks to what it is say in denmark of around eight hundred dollars an hour ok then let's make sure that everybody stampings can hire illegals who will undercut the individual who's working for the minimum wage that's the person i'm concerned with why should an american have to work for less than minimum wage when you have an illegal coming in and taking the job considerably less that's the conversation we need to have ok well david we can have that conversation another time and we certainly i guess you will now and like i
9:22 pm
said you know throw some c.e.o.'s in prison and i have a feeling you'll see a huge exodus toward the southern border but david thanks for being with us. thank you tom and thank you to your viewing audience i really appreciate it you're welcome ever since ronald reagan passed the ultimate tax cut for millionaires and billionaires dropping their it's income top income tax rate from seventy percent out of twenty eight percent the wealth inequality in america has exploded reagan's tax policy has been carried on by every single president since although it was increased slightly under president clinton to thirty nine percent before george w. bush dropped back down to thirty five percent as a result our nation's wealth inequality is higher than it's ever been since right before the stock market crash of nineteen twenty nine and we all know what happened at. the white house council of economic advisors released a report today bragging that foreign investment the united states increased forty nine percent last year as in more and more foreign foreign business tycoons are buying up american industries and infrastructure i guess economic recovery is no
9:23 pm
longer an american enterprise most of the money buying out america is coming from canada japan and europe and totaled more than one hundred ninety four billion dollars just last year it appears that free trade and the rise of wall street power has crippled our economy so badly if you only way we can now survive as a foreign nations and build their factories here and take their profits. or president obama things are becoming a colony for other countries is a good thing as he said the statement today quote promoting foreign investment is an important opportunity to accelerate our economic recovery and growth is that really the case is it a good thing that our nation is now rely on foreign investors for more on this sunday i'm joined by neal aspirate host of the florida radio talk show truth for america and author of the book conscientious equality we'll welcome. thank you you know since reagan took office over two and a half trillion dollars about
9:24 pm
a fifth of our economy has been bought out by foreign investors are you concerned that our economic sovereignty is being chipped away. oh absolutely not you know i was living in japan in one nine hundred eighty s. during the reagan time and i remember back then i was selling american products in japan one of the few people doing that and i remember that we were all trying to turn ourselves into japanese were buying japanese management books we all thought that the way of the future win through tokyo that we all had to be more like japanese we had a winner companies as if we were japanese the japanese were america they were buying pebble beach they were buying rockefeller center you know they were buying the being goes in the picasso's and guess what japan thought that they could manipulate us what they still on a it's if they found out that they could not in a bubble burst and they've been cooling on abilities ever since so if they want to invest in america not bless them you know if the same thing's going to happen to china you know china thinks it can manipulate the world markets and we're going to
9:25 pm
meet a similar fate as japan did in the one nine hundred eighty s. but in the meantime if they're here investing their money creating jobs we should welcome them. just like you know one door should have welcomed us when we had an apples and bananas being grown down there and we own the land of the workers work for us all they've got a really good analogy i mean you know you as we have you just meal we have to admit he's let me let me let me set this point up because i'd love to hear your take as as you know what i think we probably both agree this is a problem we have an eight hundred billion dollars in a very by one hundred more or less every year roughly an eight hundred billion dollar trade deficit and there was we'd buy eight hundred billion dollars a year more from the rest of the world than they can sell then and we sell it's about the result of that is that other countries end up with a hundred extra billion dollars and the only thing that they can do with that money since it's dollars is buy our companies our land and our factories so now we're in a situation where our salary according to histories are ninety seven percent foreign owned are metal or mining is sixty five percent foreign owned or book
9:26 pm
publishing sixty three percent are cement industry lime gypsum products sixty two percent and turbans and transmission equipment. fifty seven percent foreign owned all manufacturing in general fifty three percent foreign own plastics fifty two percent insurance fifty one percent glass products forty eight percent coal mining forty eight percent advertising forty one percent pharmaceuticals forty percent for known all of the profits from all of those industries are going overseas all we get are the paychecks we don't get the profits and we're losing it we're losing our economic sovereignty. well the bigger problem the bigger problem to me is not that they're investing their money in industries in america it's that they're going our debt you know they're buying our debt and they're providing destroyed to is that we're addicted on that's the bigger problem but let's talk a minute about why do we have this deficit in two thousand and eight i was the united states national champion export of the year i do business in more than one hundred countries the problem is that we don't have access to foreign markets in
9:27 pm
the same way that these manufacturers have access to our markets right because we have we're locked into the in the sanity of trailing to them the things that we could be selling them the united states is a duty free market place in i think we need to understand that is that we need the same access to foreign markets as they have to our market yeah well. neal i'm with you on that and and here's here's my concern is that this whole religion of free trade we used to have this idea in every country in the world pretty much did of a membrane around the country economic membrane that we would do it what was economically best for us other countries would do is economically best for them and henry the seventh in the in the in the fifteen hundreds came with a tutor plan alexander hamilton imitated that in seven hundred ninety one with his report on manufacturers which was ratified by congress in large part in seven hundred ninety three and stood as law until bill clinton finally tore it down by signing it if you buy the general green on tariffs and trade your agree with gray
9:28 pm
round and and nafta this has this is now ripping apart our country and that and as you point out the countries we're trading with they're protecting germany's protecting our economy china's protecting their economy we're not are we crazy. so the solution is not to put our head in the sea and i mean the global marketplace is here the solution is good so i resent their quarters the same access the same access the foreign manufacturers have toward market you know in their our exports would skyrocket if i had access to the china market like china has to our market our exports would skyrocket why should we be an export driven economy neal we've never in a historically our economy is more we've never had more than three or four percent of our economy based on exports no the thomas not true i mean our economy using it based on where you build things here now it's based on imports look at me and would you like fries with hulu and we could be there again and we could be very good i know we can all get american manufacturing back to the therapist had access if we
9:29 pm
just had access to far north it's like they have to our market you know we're a duty free country give me that scene access they're not going to do it they aren't there smarter than that but they will do it because they were all really control the of the laws so you can let ministration and they're not doing it we're allowing every their spot in the world having free access to the american market and we should not standing up for our own manufacture. we're out of time we'll i will have to leave it on that very close to i think agreement neil thanks a lot for being with us tom thanks for having me even though our nation is painfully reliant on foreign investment to function president obama is not ditching his montreaux free trade white house announced plans to send even more free trade agreements to congress this year including colombia and panamanian and korean free trade agreements welcome to the banana republic of the united states rapidly becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of germany spain and china.
