that evening it's monday june twenty seventh i'm laurin lister here in washington d.c. you're watching our t.v. now the international criminal court has issued an arrest warrant for libyan leader moammar gadhafi along with his son and also his military intelligence chief they are for crimes against humanity against political opponents now this is the second time in the court's nine year history that it has issued an arrest warrant for an actual sitting head of state let's take a look at the other that was for sudanese president omar al bashir and he is not facing trial at the hague he is still ruling in sudan despite those charges you see there now here are some of the other arrests the court has asked for the other charges that they have made one is for the former or the kenyan leader his deputy prime minister and minister of finance for the republic of kenya he is still in

that role he's at large for those i.c.c. charges of murder forcible transfer rate persecution other inhumane acts now a few have been handed over to the court and they include let's take a look at those charles taylor former leader of. liberia now though his charges aren't from the i.c.c. they're from another court he went to the i.c.c. to face that trial another include former congolese leader the one that you see right here if we could bring that up he was ended up at i.c.c. for his charges of enlisting and conscripting children under the age of fifteen years despite using them to participate actively in hostilities so as you can see there's kind of a mixed record as far as if these charges actually result in any arrests of these suspects or their trials at the hague but what are these charges mean for gadhafi and could they actually be a hindrance to peace in libya and if it off he came to the u.s.

get this he hypothetically would not be arrested on these charges despite the united states considering him you know a top enemy so why is that well that's because the united states is not a member of the i.c.c. and i.c.c. relies on members to hand over the charged now earlier i spoke with radio host alex jones and i asked him why he thinks the u.s. still refuses to be part of the i.c.c. . because certain elements of the united states and of course i'm amongst them realize the i.c.c. is basically a global government court of the larger private central banks that are dominating our society and the i.c.c. see where the i.c.c. is saying that they want to try khadafi for crimes against humanity that would be like having hitler over the nuremberg trials of nazis you've got european nations in serbia and now in libya bombing and killing civilians that's not the baited

shooting out fishing boats and you have them now admittedly trying to assassinate khadafi itself an international war crime the i.c.c. has said nothing about the war crimes in iraq and that eight and a half plus year war afghanistan the admitted massacre so this is really a joke in the way the i.c.c. carries out trials is a joke just like the world criminal court was love them illogic and again i'm not saying any of these guys are good or bad but when it is he died while they were holding him and they wouldn't let him have as witnesses they wouldn't let him testify so it's a total and complete kangaroo court it's a joke and it's a tool of basically the anglo-american e.u. stablish meant to go in and persecute countries it's western backed rebels that have been overthrowing these countries are trying to in syria and overthrowing egypt with the old ally mubarak and now against gadhafi and it's on record the west

a shootout that erupted between the f.b.i. and residents on the pine ridge reservation in south dakota now the incident led to the conviction of american indian movement activist leonard peltier who you know thirty six years later after that day he's in prison he's been in prison for more than three decades now for the f.b.i. peltier is a murderer of two of their agents but to many opposed to our supporters ranging from foreign parliaments to the dalai lama and the late mother teresa he's a political prisoner unfair trial and deserves clemency that earlier i spoke with one of called her supporters brian becker he is the national coordinator of the answer coalition and he's organized protests on peltier's behalf i asked him first you know peltier is in his sixty's he has there are more than three decades in prison he has had a stroke had diabetes is partially blind on humanitarian grounds as many of his supporters call for what is wrong with clemency here's what he said. there's nothing wrong with clemency leonard peltier should not be in prison he should have

a farce even though the evidence was was turned out to be fraudulent and even though the main witnesses for the f.b.i. told the courts later that they had been arm twisted by the f.b.i. that they were fighting for their own lives that they succumb to pressure even with all that the f.b.i. won't let it go there was a lot of rumors that bill clinton would pardon. leonard peltier so the f.b.i.'s actually organized demonstrations around the country to protest against the possible parole or probation of leonard peltier this is a lobby by the f.b.i. which really is culpable for the murder of many a scores of native american activists and trying to say historically if there was violence it was all because of of the indigenous people not the f.b.i.'s ongoing covert war against the indian people i don't happen thing that that supporters like yourself argue what is the most compelling piece that i have a chance at that well well we know from the from the church hearings in one

a native american tribal conference he says along as he holds office never again would and native americans be forgotten or ignored he didn't bring up or acknowledge culture here how important is that to any semblance of a support of native americans where you rank at a rate it as far as acknowledging it and granting clemency i would say leonard peltier is to the native american indian indigenous population in the united states what nelson mandela was in south africa he is the symbol of the struggle for freedom for civil rights for justice they believe the native people in many other people including the italian parliament the belgian parliament the opinion that he is the victim of an unfair trial he is the victim of a frame up so this has the notional significance for indigenous people still fighting for their rights all over the united states it is the cardinal case for indian people and a symbol that continues after this last day of anguish that we thought over the weekend.
