a mess. in the. news on r t a rescue that's now recovering effort sixty five now confirmed dead after their pleasure cruiser sank on sunday on the hole of a river in central russia. with hopes of finding survivors dwindling nor the search is still on the bodies beneath the gold. rush of the president made me think it says those responsible for this tragedy will be. and so will be coming down punished as he believes that the ship was bullets that would cause the same. goals goes on child's remains.

it would be more than one hundred a year and yet drowned shocked relatives struggle to accept how their loved ones were dragged to their deaths when the boat sank within minutes. seven pm in moscow i match reza continuing our breaking news coverage of the tragedy on the volga river divers in the river are now undertaking the grim task of retrieving those killed when the pleasure cruiser sank sunday in central russia sixty five are confirmed dead but recovery teams report seeing more than one hundred bodies trapped inside the sunken bowl garia artie's correspondents are following developments on barton was near the rescue operation headquarters in tatarstan in a tall you know a bit of a joins us live from moscow first to you tom you've been speaking with some of those affected by this ordeal they've got some horrifying stories to tell tell us

more about that. they have indeed been through a horrifying ordeal a lot of them were very reluctant to talk to the media today but the whole held their heads down and they were really contemplating and hoping and praying for any news of their loved ones a few have spoken out since the sinking of the bulgaria and their stories shine a light into what may have happened yesterday on the river at around two pm the ship the bulgaria a river pleasure cruise liner was going along the volga as many ships do at this time of year very popular among tourists when it ran into trouble now what happened next was really the cause of most of the major problems the ship sank within three minutes giving very little time for anyone to even put life jackets on or to organize any kind of evacuation and what we hear from eyewitness are reports are
11:03 am
horrifying tales of families torn apart in a matter of a few minutes mothers and fathers having to leave their children and people having to jump into the water to save themselves one one example is of a five year old who was saved who lost his mother and his grandmother who drowned and then jumped into the water to try and save himself and just as he thought he was drowning he reached up and grabbed the hand he saw he didn't know whose it was who belonged to a gentleman who saved his life it was later found out that that man had lost his pregnant wife in the sinking of the ship another man also with a pregnant wife lost contact with her as she ran to help friends and the frantic scramble to get off the boat he grabbed the nearest and dearest thing to him his young son and jumped into the water with him but the currents were too strong the water was too cold and he was pulled away from him and he had to watch his son drown before his eyes these are just two of the examples of the horrifying

spectacle that played itself out when people had to get off this boat. so fast and many of them didn't the people waiting on the banks and in nearby khazan upstream which was to be the final destination of the pope's day are still desperately waiting for any news of their relatives but from the rescuers themselves hope of finding any more survivors has all but gone out. one you know you know you both leaned a bit there are three of them in the cabin my son my daughter in law and my grandson my son said he tried to open the cabin door holding his child when the wave crashed into them and he lost grip of my grandson he says you swim towards the light and made it out alive but i can't find my grandson or daughter in law they're not on any lists now i'm waiting to see photos. this is a typical story heard by many people either relatives or survivors of the sinking of the ship and all they can do now is wait. thank you john now turning to tell you

last you know the person quickly mobilized an inquiry into how this happened what president medvedev and say. was different president between the how the special meeting regarding this incident and he's not with the country's emergencies minister is to be tried he's ordered to set up a earth special states committee to investigate into the state. russian transport industry is going to be the house or the committee presently it is also announced that tuesday july its route is going to be a day of national mourning of those victims who perished in this world the accident and the number of victims is increasing by the hour as the russian emergencies ministry for its there is less and less chance or if there's any just see those people who are on the boat. i want the prosecutor general's office to check the
11:06 am
compliance with the political transport regulations by the owners of that vessel and state officials that certified it is suitable for cruising and generally everyone related to the organization of this cruise especially considering the fact there was so many children on board the ship the results of that investigation should be summed up and not only in relation to this specific catastrophe but in relation to all vessels of this class and other classes as well a number of decrypted barges cruising along our waterways is enormous and the fact that we were lucky before yesterday doesn't mean anything like that could have happened it did happen and with the most grave consequences. russian president dmitry medvedev believes that one of the main reasons that could have caused this incident was the fact that the boat was really always and only other reports that we're getting can be pretty much should do right from what he's saying we're hearing reports that the boat did not have a license to transport passengers in the first place either for it's
11:07 am
a. that the capacity of the vessel was only for one hundred and twenty people and so at the time of the accident there was over two hundred people one board of the boat are also the person saying that's one of the engines broke down and the captain of the vessel actually knew about it but decided to proceed with the boat trip anyway the owner of the boat at the same time is saying that even if that's a gate that was the case and one of the engines didn't break down it would not have caused this horrible tragedy of reports saying that's of course it was a very old ship that was sailing since nineteen fifty five so all of their boss could have caused this tragedy but some of the eyewitnesses saying that's where the conditions in that region at the time were very bad it was very strong winds and some of the survivors are actually saying that it's as they were trying to evacuate
11:08 am
from the boat so many of the emergency exits were blocked again referring to the fact that the boat was really old so to sum up it all comes down to a vessel that was not properly prepared for a very long time and many blame it on a human mistake. right now tell you now back to tom what is the status of the recovery operation. well you can see this small strip of sand behind me this has become really the launch pad of emergency services efforts to try and recover first they hope survivors and now root to recover bodies from the sunken ship hour after hour three back through today through last night and yesterday afternoon teams of divers have gone out to a special platform is being constructed and they've been going down they've supplied us with a video quite a graphic video showing them going into the ship and bringing up bodies from the ship then now expected to be possibly starting what may be to the toughest part of
11:09 am
their exploration through the ship going into what's being called the play room of the games room area on one of the upper decks of the ship and as the ship sank it was said by eyewitnesses that there were thirty to fifty children maybe a third of the passengers are children playing who all gather to play in that room and it was said by witnesses that there were so many children in that room that they just couldn't get out in time and it's feared that they may all have drowned inside that room so for the rescuers themselves but obviously for the people on shore this next part of the recovery operation could indeed prove to be quite a nightmare and seeing their that come ashore i think the people who have been waiting for answers might unfortunately get the answers that they were dreading it . summer dream so one night in a matter of minutes. our child remained on that boat.
11:10 am
it was a sunday afternoon when the holiday river cruz garia run into difficulties on the volga catastrophe came swiftly soon think of it even people were basically buried alive and trying metal coughing i managed to get out through the windows i was there with my ten year old daughter i couldn't rescue her she swallowed too much water when i was pulled out i realised my child was gone. the bulgarian now lies at the bottom or the. reversal same can less than three minutes it flipped to the right the last word and went down and we were literally thrown out and that's how we survived our whole family was on that ship we lost everybody my wife and the grandchildren two vessels passed by and didn't even care to stop and we chatted a helping hand we spent around two hours in the water before we were rescued i swam
11:11 am
around searching for survivors and couldn't find anybody so there were a lot of children on the ship they were all in the game it was impossible for me to get out of there my grandson would be five years old tomorrow we went on the ship to celebrate my birthday. many of the passengers were families with children on the weekend sightseeing. survivors and relatives powerless to act and now able only to wake. me think we are telephoning everyone trying to learn anything about our dear ones we called the police but they said to contact the search and rescue service we did but there was no reply so we came here to find out at least something but even here nobody knows anything. it's horrible we haven't the slightest knowledge of what's going on they should give us at least some information we're calling the search and rescue service but asked her the phone. as many as fifty of the passengers were under eighteen years old hurled into the

vulgar three kilometers and by these people behind me are just some of the relatives desperate for news about their loved ones and what was a pleasure boat cruise has for them turned into a living nightmare tom dart an r.c. evolved a bank central russia. artie's been hearing from a river transport supervisor who told us that it's the port authorities who are responsible for safety and for a letting the boat leave the dock in the first place. you know with it's a very old ship but it shouldn't have been used moreover it was built to correspond with safety requirements of the nineteen fifties and while quite syria has changed condition houghton's which we have to find out of the sunken cruiser had been tested in a time in faraway clone so the boat was overcrowded with around two hundred people on board which is a serious violation it should have been allowed to leave port said there's also information that one of the engines wasn't working properly there's no checks were done in this regard this type of boat is prohibited from leaving ports in bad
11:13 am
weather when waves threaten to reach two meters this is considering there was information of a storm what port authorities are responsible for all those safety breaches. that's a recap now our breaking news story the tragedy on the cruise boat disaster the number dead is now at sixty five and divers are recovering more bodies from the doom river craft that sank on sunday and russia's republic of tatarstan it's thought that about a third of the vote has been checked divers are now trying to reach the music hall where some thirty children are believed to have been a walk before the ship went down the emergencies ministry says there is little hope of finding any other survivors tuesday's been declared a national day of mourning president of better has ordered an investigation into why the ship went down saying that the crap at best shouldn't still be cruising the country's waters the investigative committee believes are critical technical failure may be to blame for the disaster r t is on top of the developments there is going forward and we'll be bringing you more information throughout the day here on

which means that italy in its own is almost three times as big as the smaller countries from portugal together so this is really something quite frightening and if indeed he really really goes into big trouble on the financial markets this is certainly a totally new face of this euro crisis new dimension throwing money at the problem good reads greece portugal ireland and certainly not also italy that is not enough or that can solve the problem on its own enormous amounts of for the i called political capital has been invested in this euro project so giving it up as a fairy of the season and a decision that just overnight so a lot of energy and a lot of additional money will certainly be spent before we arrive at such a situation and according to me there is no such decision on the horizon if italy comes into this ballgame with the amounts that are involved with this country that
